When it comes to mechanics it’s a really tough situation. Finding a good mechanic is hard enough, finding a good mechanic who is honest, qualified, transparent, fast, keeps his word and does immaculate work on your vehicle is nearly impossible. John works on all my porches from the air cooleds to the modern ones, and I have never found a better mechanic. You can feel comfortable giving him your car knowing that you’re going to be treated fairly and honestly.

I was referred to John by my previous mechanic, who told me if he were to take his car anywhere, it would be to John at C&F. I had just purchased my Jetta Wagon two months prior and my check engine light started flashing and the car was driving rough out of nowhere. I called John to see what he suggested and when I could bring it in. It was right before a three day Holiday weekend and I was bracing myself to be out of a vehicle for a few days. When I spoke to John he told me to bring it in even though they were working a half day. Not only was he extremely responsive but he also quickly diagnosed the car and quoted me a fair and reasonable price. He went above and beyond and even said he would do his best to finish the repairs for me same day! If you are looking for a honest, helpful and kind mechanic in the area, look no further! I have owned my 1966 912 Porsche for 50 years and am very particular about who services my car. Having moved to the Newport/Costa Mesa area 11 years ago Ive been to several of the Porsche specialty shops during the first 6 years in the area and then found C&F on the referral of a very satisfied 356 Porsche owner 5 years ago. I now have all my maintenance done by John as he always has been straight forward about the cost of the work and the quality equals or exceeds many of the higher priced specialty repair shops in the area. He and his staff always take care that the cars exterior and interior are kept clean and protected during the its stay at his shop. John knows his business and personally supervises all the work he and his crew have done, often doing the work himself. Need I say more!

Before I bought my 997 I was referred to John by Glenn at Glenns Alignment. I went over to introduce myself to John and had a great time chatting and seeing his shop. After I got the car I went back to John to have him fix up a few things and to see how he operates. My main thing is trust - does a mechanic give me sensible advice, does he discuss his thought process with me, does he charge reasonable rates for the task at hand. My experience so far with John is that yes, he does all those things. Ill be back to Johns shop for future work and I wont hesitate to refer other Porsche owners to him as well.

This is one of the most honest mechanic shops I have experienced. I have taken my Mini Cooper S in here about 4 or 5 times over the past 3 years to get various things looked at. Paul, the previous owner, and now John have turned me away each time saying I didnt need to do anything yet.The first time I went to them was in the beginning of 2014 to take a look at my clutch. Prior to that visit, another mechanic had told me I needed to get my clutch done ASAP and made it seem like it needed to be done within the next few months otherwise it make things worse. I was worried because that is such an expensive job on my Mini. I decided to get a second opinion and found C & F from their reviews online. When I went there they reassured me that I have a lot of life left on my clutch. Here I am, over 3.5 years later, and my clutch is still in great shape and John still tells me I dont need it yet.Recently, I went in because there was a noise when I would turn my car. Again, John was very helpful and explained everything to me. He gave me a couple options based on if I was going to keep the car long-term or not. He is very consultative, telling me the pros and cons of waiting to get work done on the car or doing it soon, and I never felt pressured to get any work done.Almost 4 years later, and I am finally going to get work done by them. I trust C&F and would highly recommend them!

A Xenon headlight bulb went bad on my 2014 Volkswagen which I found very difficult to replace on my own. John at C&F has been working to bring my 89 vanagon back to her former glory. They installed a beefed up GoWesty rebuilt engine, and have dialed in the cooling system, suspension, and lots of other odds and ends. Bottom line is they got our vanagon running like new again. I never thought Id see the day when I could confidently drive my vanagon to Yosemite. We recently made the trip with no issues even when returning through the desert in temps exceeding 100 degrees!
