Staff were good and helpful, and the experience was fun. However, make sure you check the equipment thoroughly. We got a jet ski where the dry storage compartment was already wet when we received it (should have been a red flag), and then while we were out on the water hitting some bumpier waves, our phones actually popped out the dry storage compartment and fell into the San Diego Bay. We signed the liability waiver, but thats even more reason to listen to all the directions and then check that everything is in good order before heading out onto the water.

The entire experience was amazing. First of all the Custer service is amazing and we were provided with excellent instructions on how to operate and make the most of our jet ski rental. It was our first time ever so they made me feel very confident. Also prices can’t be beat. Recommending to all of my friends!

Never rent here. As someone who lives in San Diego and has rented dozens of boat from this company. They changed a policy and now tow your car even when you’re in their designated spot. Management won’t help you and you’ll end up paying $500 more on top of your boat rental. Please learn from me and don’t ever rent here.

Great company to rent a variety of boats from. My friends and I had an awesome day out on the water in a Catalina 320 back in June. The company secured a captain to take us out and we were able to extend our time on the water and catch the sunset for a reasonable price (this was an option because no one else had reserved our vessel that evening). We brought our own food and drinks (no red wine!). Depending on how long youre on the water, you can dock at any of the other harbors they operate from if you need to get off the boat. Be sure to bring enough food & water for your captain if youre out for the day and remember to tip! My friends and I will be renting again next summer!

Came in last Sunday after going to the Downtown location. The staff here is just as friendly and helpful as the other location and were very informative of all rules and regulations for driving/renting the boat. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a fun afternoon and I will be returning!

Rented a skiff last Sunday. Our skiff should have never been allowed to be rented.. Before we got away from the dock the motor came loose and almost fell in the water. A young fellow looked it over and said it was OK. It was NOT !! Same thing happened 2 more times out in the bay. It looked like to me one of the boltssecuring the motor could not be tightened. They were not busy and didn’t understand why we weren’t givenanother skiff. Also the skiff was filthy...used glove laying in the bottom of the boat along with clumps of seaweed. And the seats looked as if they are never washed off. Dried blood from I’m assuming live bait was caked on the seats....might be time for a visit from the Health Department. I will say the young fellow at least wore a mask.

Signed up for the ASA 101 class through Groupon and got our membership fee waived. $30 a month fee to be a member and that goes towards our sail boat rental. Boats arent the fanciest but always have something available and great locations to start out of for sailing around SD Bay. If youre looking into trying out sailing this is the place to go!

They always are the friendliest and their boats are generally better maintained than some of the other places nearby. If you plan to sail often, I recommend joining their membership plan. The value is fantastic if you plan to hit the water on a regular basis.

We rented a BBQ donut boat with a grill in the middle. Service was great and lovely instructors! We came prepared with snacks, hot dogs, and skewers. My friend had fun driving the boat and I had to continuously restart the motor. Its hard work and requires arm strength. It was fun and I highly recommend it!

Rent sailboats there. Boats were seaworthy and passed on form, fit and function. That was about it. Boat and cushions were dirty and equipment was not lubricatedMaintenance could be way better but it was a rental after all. I would go again as cost was reasonable.

We went kayaking for the first time. The crew was horrible, no instructions on what to do. I was given a broken paddle. There was no one around to help dock your kayak, it was pretty much fend for yourself. The experience of kayaking with your family was fun, but the business and crew were HORRIBLE!

Bear in mind, I love this place. To be able to rent a 22 ft. sailboat at the drop of a hat is heaven to me. Just not possible anywhere Ive been on the East Coast. With that said, my last outing ran into a bit of inflexibility and lack of customer service on the part of the staff. I got there at 3 pm and they informed me that they closed at 4:30. Fair enough, I said, can I just do a 1 hour rental. No, 2 hours was the minimum. (Even though I had done a 1 hour rental last year.) So, I was already losing a half hour on the deal. Then, when I went out on the dock after filling out the paperwork, the boat was not ready, and the attendant was putting another boat away, which took about 15 minutes. I got out on the water at 3:30 and had to be back at 4:30. I was 15 minutes late getting back, due to declining winds, and got a sharp reminder that I was late. Tips for the tip jar....I dont think so!

USE CAUTION GOING HERE. Erin, the manager at Seaforth was adamant on charging us $50 for losing their anchor. The anchor literally fell off the line the third time we pulled up the anchor due to being old line and due to them not using chain to prevent the line from being frayed by the anchor. Their policy- If you use it and it breaks, you pay for it regardless of the situation, circumstance, and original integrity.

Researched before leaving Texas & decided on Seaforth. Rented from both Coronado and Mission bay locations. Coronado seemed to be a rich person vibe - staff was sexy and swaggy feeling, Mission Bays staff felt super sporty as if they were ready to hit the water with you. Pricing is reasonable - however, pricing for the same boats were more at Coronado than at Mission Bay - how or why I didnt ask, we just wanted to get on the water. Boats did seem a bit worn; if you research Seaforth online you have an expectation of getting what you see on their website. They were dirtier and more beat down than expected but ran well. Jet ski was missing the storage cover, which nixed my plan of taking a camera or phone with me. But they were upfront about the financials - I had $1500 worth of pre-authorizations on my card, no problem getting released. Overall the boating and jet ski was fun, but for review purposes Id say 3 stars.

Managed to ruin my daughters 26th. We as a party of 10 booked the boat which described itself a sailing tour of the harbor. No one helps you load the boat and there is only one wheelbarrow. They did not even know which boat is to be boarded. What a shoddy experience. Ironically they are not cheaper than others. First they spend an inordinate time determining whether the boat they assigned could have 10 people on the outside in really calm water. 30 minutes after departure we had to go back because the manager forgot to make us sign a contract.Forget sailing this is a motor boat tour. What was supposed to be a sailing tour in perfect sailing weather ended up with people not being able to stand or for all 10 be topside. Why would anyone rent a sailboat for a party then sit in the bottom hold and also to be motor driven. Go figure! The poor captain had to keep on telling members of the party to stand down or move here or move ther in very calm conditions.. Not his fault but what a joke.Additionally while we did not ask that shoddy manager could have given us a discount for his forgetfulness, wrong sail boat size allocation etc. But off course the decent thing to do for ruining a very special day because of their own issues never came into play.Avoid if you expect to get any value for the money.

The worst boat rental place i have ever been to. I dont even know where to start off. First off the first person that was helping us with the boat rental was rude and got angry when i asked for a smaller size. Yes i know we all have bad days. But then! i get back and they charge me $50 dollars extra for the supposedly extra time i was in the water. I nicely asked the lady why did i get charged extra if i was only out for one hour. She said no i was out for and hour and 15 min. I showed her my watch and the timer that i had started when i left and i was 5 min early. The what looked like the manager turned around and said in an irritated and rude voice that i took 1 hour and 15 min, and the time starts when i signed the contract. So hold on a minute..... So let me get this straight.... I sign the contract i go to the doc. The guy at the doc gives me us our life jacket and explains how to use it. (that took 5 minutes) then on our jolly way to the jetski where the guy explains to us how to use it and the regulations. (that took 15 minutes) So 20 to 25 minutes later im finally in the water. Now back to that rude manager.... I say I thought the time starts as soon as you get on the jetski? He responds with an annoying voice and raises his voice saying ITS WHEN YOU SIGN THE CONTRACT. I start to say back that all the other boat rental places i have been to starts there time when you get on the jetski. In the middle of me saying that he turns around and starts talking to another customer. I did nothing but pay it and walk away shocked. I dont curse people out or be rude even though sometimes i wish i wasnt such a nice person. So i do this... if you read this dont go to this place. You read this story... this actually happened and this place should go out of business because of the un professionalism they have.

Reasonably priced jet ski rentals. Made a reservation earlier in the morning same day. Had to wait 45 minutes before actually getting on the watercraft to start the 1 hr rental. A bit annoying but also try to understand the situation of booking a last minute reservation. When we returned the watercraft the location appeared to be properly staffed with several more people tending to reservations.

Awful place. You might get lucky and be okay but IF you have any sort of problem be warned nobody there cares. I feel sorry for the staff that works there as they were all extremely kind.
