I have had my clippers repaired and cared for, blades and scissors sharpen for years. I have and groom standard poodles and well maintained tools are a must. I can always count on Slips to do a superior job at a fair price. I especially appreciate the honest assessment of my equipment. This place is worth my 80 mile drive! drive!

Slips Sharpening is the only place I go to Sharpen my Shears and to buy new ones. Ive tried other shear sharpeners before that have come to my salon and the quality of the sharpening does not to compare to Slips.Its wonderful to have someone you trust with your shears and have quality when they are being sharpened. As a chef, i cant tell you enough how grateful i am of this place. I keep my knives in a roll with covers on and treat them like my babies, so they keep an edge very well. I brought our house knives (ones that are left at the restaurant for any employee to use) that were bent up and chipped, cracked, barely an edge on it, and dude was able to bring them back to life. I think the servers were cutting cinder blocks with these knives because they were CHOPPED UP! I will definitely be back with more of our house knives and probably my personal kit in a year or two when they finally need an edge put back on.

Absolutely the best experience one could hope to have! I have a high end chefs knife that would never stay sharp and was about to send it back to Zwilling to check for manufacture flaws since this knife has never been that sharp from the day of purchase. I looked up Slips Sharpening and decided to drive up from Maple Grove to see if they could help me. So very glad I did. The owner was extremely knowledgeable and showed me that the reason the blade would not stay sharp was due to a bevel issue. It has been a few weeks of cooking and using the knife daily and it is still sharp as a razor. I will always be a repeat customer and truly recommend this company to anyone!!!

Slip and his wife have been servicing the groomers all over the Twin Cities forever. He used to come to my house when he did mobile. You dont stay in business this long by accident. I get a great job at a reasonable rate every time. Every time.In a time when we have to beat the bushes to find sharpeners that arent closing up, these folks just keep chugging along. Im glad theyre still here.

I use a knife on a daily basis, and yes is it feasible to just sharpen ur own knife. Of course it is, but we are all busy and that is where I looked for someplace to expedite that service for me. I have tried on 4 different occasions to visit this business. The first time was friendly and made me feel welcome but since then nothing but an awful experience. One of the times I came in , during his posted business hours I was berated and made to feel apologetic for coming during his lunch . This last time which was this am , I stopped by asking for just a quick touch up on the knife , it had been a month. When I walked in the place, it was very stoic , and quiet. The owner was sitting as every other time that I have been in.This time he was on the computer,so said to him could u please work ur magic on my knife. I dont believe it is as bad off this time as the last. ( Since last time I had him sharpen this same knife it was was a brand new knife with no edge).Every time I have come in he says 4 bucks to put a true edge on either a beat up or new knife , i received no ty, just a that will be 4 bucks. Today he took my knife and was gone for no more than 40 seconds and when he returned , he handed me my knife and very directly said today ur buying me lunch that will be 5 bucks. I was a bit taken back but just handed him a five and said ty and left. I will never return, I dont think he cares if I return or anyone returns. Not that my opinion is worth more than a grain of salt, but if I was a butcher or a hair stylist or anyone else that used a knife or clippers on a daily basis I would for sure not visit this very rude , unappreciated store it appears to be ran by a burnt out older man. Coon Rapids would be best served if he closed his doors 1 last time for good.
