Took truck in for electric short. Had my own parts. Had oil change, and asked to put new tail gate handle put on. They did not charge to put tail gate handle on. The amount I paid for was low. They fit in a state inspection before I left the shop. I have already set up an appointment to have the air conditioning looked at. I definitely recommend Hwy 78 auto repair to everyone.

The interaction I had with Ms Kathy at the front desk to the Manager, Mr Cody, was so pleasant. They were both courteous, professional, friendly and competent. My car is 23 years old, not made any more and staff understood why I wanted it fixed and fixed right. The staff was very respectful of my concerns.I was referred by a relative who only does business with this shop when he absolutely has to have his vehicle(s) repaired by professionals. I highly recommend FM78 Auto Repair.

John and the techs at FM 78 took my dead van and resurrected it from beyond. They removed the engine, had it rebuilt and reinstalled it! Now I’m running calls and making progress, thanks a million for the quality and expertise you guys demonstrated on my vehicle!!

Excellent service and friendly staff. It is a local mechanic shop and the owner also lives in Converse. The very best thing is that they dont try and sell you what you dont need. They treat each customer as if they were the only one there and speak to you intelligently and never down to you.

The staff go well above and beyond. They go w/their diagnosis w/o trying to sell you services you dont need. Total transparency on their findings. If they cant resolve your cars issue, theyll tell you. No band-aid repairs. I tell everyone I know to take their cars to FM 78 Auto first.

Very honest establishment! They fixed my thermostat a year or so ago & recently I was told I needed a starter, but after checking it out, they found all I needed was bolts! MAIN STREET GARAGE wouldve ripped me off & thats the very reason Im never going back to them!! Kathy was also great over the phone & in person! Highly recommend!!

Great place, family owned and operated, and very knowledgeable. I was in from Houston when my rental truck had issues. The lady that answered the phone suggested a great towing service and when I arrived they had an empty bay waiting for me. The owner/manager met me outside and knew all my info from the previous call I made. A tech accompanied the owner while asking me some diagnostic questions. Immediately after our conversation the tech began working on my rental truck. If I ever need service again while in San Antonio, this is where I will bring my vehicle.

I went for an oil change the price was fair and they did offer a military discount, but none of the mechanics that came into the office wore a mask and their waiting area is much to small to social distance properly I have asthma and have a greater risk of covid I wish they were respectful of their customers safety I will find somewhere else to go

Just brought my truck here. They brought me out and showed me exactly what was happening and what needed to be fixed. They fixed it much sooner than I expected. Overall I had a great experience. Ill be using them again in the future.

Tried to double charge my dad on his warranty AC work. Honestly NOT a Fantastic place to go by yourself or with family and friends. The establishment was dirty and not in well working conditions. The staff was not friendly and not easy to talk too. I do not see this place staying around for a long time and I can say with confidence that I will not be going to this place for a long long time.

Great service, reasonably priced. They are upfront and honest with you on whats wrong with your vehicle theyre not going to jerk you around and theyre going to get the work done in a quick timely fashion. Me and my family have been going to them for little over 20 years. I highly recommend them they work on all vehicles.

Ive spent $400+ total on multiple visits within the last month trying to get my car fixed and Im still having the same problem I originally went in for. Thats not the reason for negative review though, the reason is on my last visit they did a diagnostics and determined the problem was a faulty part so they replaced it all without telling me what the problem was or the price. It ultimately came out to just over 300 bucks which was a surprise to me considering I had recieved no call or update. I picked up the car and they assured me the problem was fixed. The very next day Im having the same problems... think Ill just cut my losses and get a second opinion.

Terrible prices, dealer charges $150 and this places charges $105+. A Shop just down the road has better certified staff with more experience and only charges $70 a hour labor rates. Please dont answer me asking to call the shop to discuss it further, these are simple price facts that I am sharing with the local community.

John the owner and Ron his manager honestly do the best they can. I have been taking my three older vehicles to them for a decade now and know them to be honest. I have recommended them many times and everyone I sent their way was happy with them. It is nice to have a local mechanic that does a good job and does not try to take advantage of you.

Customer service is top quality...just not the welding. had my exhaust welded - looks like was done in a high school shop. many holes, and just poor quality welds. charged me 150$ for the work. now i need to have the weld job fixed which will cost me about 200+$. dont know quality of other work, but i would pass on having anything welded by them.

Another awesome job and very reasonably priced. They actually find the problem and fix it, not just throw parts at it. Have used FM78 Auto Center several times with great results, highly recommended. They serviced our Dodge Grand Caravan 3-7-2012.

If you have a problem with your car, FM 78 will take care of it. They may not be cheap, but they will do an outstandingly great job.

Will NEVER return. ac compressor lasted less than a year, they replaced it but the one they replaced it with failed right after the warranty expired. also, when replacing it, apparently some hose was pinched/punctured, which caused my vehicle to just shut down, WHILE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY!! then the same thing happened with the fuel pump, failed right after warranty expired. also, i found out that the compressor they installed was NOT new but i was charged for a new one. to top it off, the lady who answers the phone and is at the front desk is rude and always short.

Do yourself a favor and do not bring your vehicle here. you know what they say.. You can not trust a mechanic.They are not professional and they do not know how to fix a simple brake system. They say its one thing, then its another then another.. all the while never fixing the problem. The absolute worst auto repair shop I have ever been to.

Full disclosure...this is about who they subcontract out to and this shops ownership of responsibility. I took a classic car to this shop for a transmission leak. After removing the transmission, they sent it to their transmission shop (3rd party shop) for repairs. Once I got the vehicle back, I discovered the leak was much worse than the original issue. I returned the car for warranty repairs. This time, the shop took the entire car to the transmission shop. Another week later, I retrieved the car with work completed. Two days later, the vehicle was again leaking transmission fluid. After two attempts, and having sold the car in the midst, I was not comfortable taking it to this shop again; nor was the buyer. The real kicker...neither the transmission shop, nor the intermediary shop provided any remedy. I guess the solution was to deal with the leak and invest in transmission fluid or leave the car perpetually in the shop. Buyer beware.

Best place in San Antonio that I know of

Absolutely the worst mechanic shop I have seen. Took my vehicle in for a simple spark plug fix. Picked it up the next day with my engine light on as well as my vehicle shaking. Took it back for the to fix the issue. Had it 2 days and did nothing to it and also drove my vehicle around! Will be contacting my lawyer.. Please do not take your vehicle to these people unless you want more problems..

I had scheduled for a appointment at 1130 and was told my vehicle would be ready in 2 and a half hours. Around 3pm I called to check on status of my car and the manager said they were just now getting to my vehicle. I was very upset because I needed my suv back at the time I was told. So I had no choice but to leave it even longer but later on when I went to pick up my car they advised me they did extra work on my vehicle that I did not ever approve, $100 more of work and would not give me my vehicle till I paid. I had to call police and still had to pay, I will never go back to this shop. You do not do extra stuff to someone car if they never approved that work to be done, So now I am taking them to small claims court...be careful if you use this shop. Sign for whatever work you want them to do so you do not become a victim as I did.

Terrible service wanted to charge me twice for a one year warranty service guaranteed because they didnt do it right the first time. Coming from someone who works in the automotive field, i felt this place was a 5 star shop afew years ago but over the last year the quality in service has declined and hourly rates went from $90 to $110 a hour. A Simple 30 minute flag time jobs on my 2000 chevy ignition timing took 2 days!! i decided to give them another shot with a A/C system Recharge, vacuum and leak test and paid $110, all that freon has leaked out and the vehicle is back for them to RECHECK the system from a 48 hour prior test window and again a week later, with a attempted service charge on warranty work!!!.....not happy with the turn around times i am seeing. I question the quality of the newer mechanics at this shop now and will most likely be skeptical to return to or recommend this place for anything other than a state inspection.
