My eight year old son and I have been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for three and a half years. We have been training with Darryl and Natasha at Infinitum Jiu-Jitsu for a few months now. Overall our experience has been great and I will break down why. Before the Academy was transitioning to new ownership my son and I had signed up to compete in a tournament in Houston. I figured that I would have to coach my son and I would get a friend to coach me. When I told Darryl and Natasha that we were competing in a month they informed me that they would be there to coach us. Thats a big sacrifice for them because they were there from 9am to 5pm (also a long drive) to ensure that my son and I had the best experience and only one other student came to the tournament. It was my sons very first tournament and it was a great experience for him and I credit a lot of that to Darryl and Natasha in how they prepared him and coached him while he competed. I only had one match in my bracket and Darryl made the right calls from the sideline that helped me finish the match in under a minute with a submission. In terms of teaching style Darryl just knows how to have fun with the kids and he is structured. I think that is the most important part with children, if it is not fun, they wont come, and if it is not structured they will not learn. Also with the kids class he will let me help coach the kids (because I have a little experience) and I really enjoy being able to help my son with his learning.I also love the way that he teaches the adults class. For the first month he focused solely on passing the guard and any new technique that he taught built off of the previous technique taught. And this past month he taught playing guard and continued that style of teaching. I have really been able to learn a lot through his style of teaching. We do a lot of sparring, typically 45 minutes of sparring every class. Which is great because it really pushes you as an individual both mentally and physically. If you are looking to get in shape and build endurance this is the place for you. Dont let that intimidate you though, you can take breaks if you really need them. Finally the people here are super friendly, you are guaranteed to build some great friendships, and you are going to have a lot of fun.

These coaches are WONDERFUL with the 3-6 age group! I love the values they teach and how hands on and helpful they are with every single kid. Their passion for teaching is apparent and theyre all a pleasure to interact with. If you want your kids in a sport that is disciplined and fun, this is the place to go.We walked in on a Monday just to get more information and they tossed my daughter a gi and let her join the class. We left that day knowing wed be customers for the long haul. My daughter is so passionate about her class and coaches. Shes excited everyday to learn more and interact with the coaches and kids. I really cant say enough amazing things...

My son trained with Darryl at PSBJJ in Bellaire and enjoyed working with Darryl very much. He is super patient with small kids and really works at their level. I would wholeheartedly recommend him as a teacher for any younger kids getting into the sport.

An excellent gym with a family atmosphere. Knowledgeable instructors who are motivational and sincerely want their adult students to learn technique, yet they are also gentle and patient with small children. My kids love the staff. This gym has been a phenomenal experience for our family. Grateful to be part of the team.

I left this school because the owners/instructors did not show up for class about half the time. There was a serious lack of communication and professionalism. There are better options in The Woodlands/Conroe/Spring area.

I have practiced the sport of jiu jitsu for a net total of about a year and a half. The coronavirus prohibited me from training one year due to the fact that I live with people who have weak immune systems. I missed the sport so much, and I couldn’t wait to get back into it. After everyone in the household received our vaccines I was able to return to the mats with high hopes and expectations to get better and stronger than before. My original gym was Halcyon Jiu Jitsu led by Coach Matt Smith. This school is where I learned about the fundamentals of jiu jitsu and ultimately fell in love with the sport. After the corona virus I came back to Halcyon, but my current job hours and personal opinions with the curriculum led me to look for a gym that was closer to my job, and had the same welcoming environment that my old gym has.LET. ME. TELL. YOU. I went on a spree to try and find a gym that fit me. It was way harder than I ever initially imagined. Finding a bjj gym for me, was like trying to find a pair of shoes that fit and are comfortable…. For my size 14 foot it is EXTREMELY difficult, likewise for my BJJ gym situation. I decided to give Infinitum Jiu Jitsu a shot after multiple other gyms around the area, and I was not let down a bit. In many aspects this gym excels and sets the bar higher than any other gym that I have trained/spectated in. The cleanliness is top notch, and I couldn’t imagine it being any cleaner. The gym is large, so that means a lot of mat space to roll! (Which is perfect given my large stature!!) Everyone there is super friendly especially the coaches. Coach Natasha and Coach Darryl are very informative and genuine. The way that the coaches communicate with my fellow practitioners and I with the upmost respect is something that I’ve cherished ever since first attending Infinitum. I’ve never competed but coach Natasha, Darryl and my teammates have pushed me and boosted my confidence to the point in which I want to accomplish many of the competitive goals that I never thought I would attempt at this point in my jiu jitsu career.Another benefit in regards with training at Infinitum Jiu Jitsu is the opportunity to train at the affiliated gyms under Pablo Silva. There are many opportunities to meet and train with other practitioners that aren’t necessarily related to Infinitum jiu jitsu, but are still teammates who respect and care for your growth. Training at other locations can help sharpen your skills because you get to implement what you learned at your home gym with other people that you’ve never trained against which can be a totally mind opening experience. You get to train at other locations FOR FREE as long as they’re affiliated with Pablo Silva. This one thing just adds a little to the many wonderful things that Infinitum supplies, and I’m so fortunate finding this gem of a gym. 😂😂(I’ll stop)Ultimately infinitum jiu jitsu has made me feel so welcome, and has provided me with a home away from home. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect fit for myself or anyone else who loves the sport. You will not be disappointed trying this gym out, and you might just find your permanent home just like me.

Starting my martial arts journey at 7 years old I now face wearing a white belt for the fourth time at IJA, I have studied at a dozen schools and fought nationally multiple times. I have personally experienced what it takes to have a high-quality martial arts school. The most important qualities that a great school must have are, great instructors, and overall student and instructor attitude. At IJA the instructors have been top notch. They not only are leading an intensive class for participants of all ages and belt ranks, but are also focusing on improving themselves. An instructor who is constantly striving for better is the foundation of a thriving school. The IJA instructors are pushing for all students to rise in a mix of practical utility and focused competition. There is a saying I have heard before I started BJJ, “Start BJJ for BJJ, never quit for your teammates.” The attitude of the people in the gym is important. If you are going to be spending a serious amount of time with people, you must trust them. In my time at IJA I have built trust and have yet to have a negative experience. The higher belts are always happy to help the juniors, and the juniors are always eager to learn as much as they can. There are a million small things I can compliment about my school. The cleanliness, organization, the mix of Muay Thai and BJJ and even the free trial, all of which solidified my decision to join this school. As I list more things I realize nothing short of attending a class could help you experience the school as I have.

I did a trial for a week and I am a blackbelt who is looking for a local place. The jiu jitsu instructions werent bad but the classes were filled to the limit which made it more difficult to learn as there were too many students to focus on. Overall, the jiu jitsu is more focused on the sparring with a lot of students wanting to do cage fighting so its more on the hardcore side and this was in there basic class. If you want more aggressive trainings including heavy weight lifting (such as flipping tiles), this is your place. If you want to learn & develop or simply a competitive place to practice at, Team Rivas is more at your level as they do better at developing people. Overall rating for jiu jitsu is about 3/5 but others may rate it higher or lower. If the classes were smaller or alternatively if they had an additional instructor, Id give it a higher rating such as a 4.Muay Thai - this I gave a 0/5. The class and instructions were not setup correctly and it felt like a sparring area in which you just play around without developing the core techniques. This was taught my a semi-pro muy thai fighter and not an instructor so its a different style. I dont feel you are truly learning muy thai, the forms, techniques, etc that will help you prevail. This is more of a street/cage fighting style. There doesnt appear to offer the ability for new people to come in and learn / develop and the only pace appears to be full contact on day one. There didnt appear to be any emphasis on training or a punching bag for the one who didnt know what they were doing. This in return kind of makes the fighting pointless as it is not competitive with most people not knowing proper forms/techniques. You may learn how to street fight from this, but if you are in a fight with a trained fighter (martial arts, boxing, etc), you would probably get destroyed from what I saw here so the practicing didnt help me develop.Cleanliness - granted this is martial arts but a lot of individuals tend to have or experience open wounds. This is normal especially as your hands, feet, etc rub against a rubber mat or even a punching bag (which I did not see anyone using over that week period). It would have been nice if there was an emphasis on covering the wounds or taping your hands, etc as I careless to get blood on me and germs, especially in a covid environment. This is the biggest reason why I gave it a lower rating.

Its a really great place to train! The instructors are impressive and teach very well. The results are shown through the students they produce. I only wish they were cheaper. I dont know when martial arts got so expensive but Im trying to buy a house and I cant do both. Sadly. If they came down in price Id come back and give them 5 stars easily.
