This gym is amazing. Their back class is so helpful and my one-on-one time with Dr. Andrea was exactly what I needed. I appreciate Ted and Andreas approach to total mind and body health and am grateful for the opportunity to work with them.

I first came to Diablo Barbell because I couldnt walk without a cane. After being seen and evaluated by Dr Vitz she suggested I joined a rehab class at Diablo. It took 3 months to get off the cane and then 3 more to come off all the pain meds I was on. Im now starting a strength class and a food program. I will be the best version of myself. With the help of Coach Ted and Dr Vitz and the Diablo community everyone is so supportive.

An absolutely awesome fitness and lifestyle experience. The coaches and ownership are absolutely incredible and helpful. I am generally intimidated by gyms and sometimes can feel insecure. This is the first place in the multiple states I have lived in, where I didnt feel that at all. Coaches and patrons on day 1 were extremely friendly and welcoming. I saw a tremendous amount of progress in my first two months. They also sit with you one on one to discuss what your goals are. From there your workouts and regiments are tailored to you. I would recommend Diablo to anyone at any fitness level. I was probably on the bottom half of that and continue to see great results. Its a wonderful community through and through!

Diablo is life changing, I came to diablo to learn to lift but what I found was so much more, I found an environment of teachers who want to teach not only strength training skills but also life skills. How to live in harmony with my goals and how to achieve those goals through the art of living. I found that Diablo has not only made me more fit but also improved the overall quality of my life in a profound transformative way. We are so fortunate to have mentors like Ted in our community and I highly recommend taking advantage of what Diablo has to offer because it will make you stronger in ways you hadnt ever imagined possible.

So, a lot can change in a year. We all know this, we’ve all experienced it (2020, am I right?), and we all constantly remind ourselves of it, but we often never act on it. Don’t deny it, you always have this idea of “when I get to it” or “I’ll get to it soon” and most times we don’t. Be it calling a friend, creating a boundary, applying for a job, etc.. we are in this constant flux of “what if.” I myself was in a constant state of “I’ll be happy when,” or “I’ll feel better about myself when...” and I never did anything about it; I just waited around for some biblical miracle to happen, which I knew never would. That’s the thing about being unhappy; you can tell yourself all the reasons why you feel unhappy but then you find yourself struggling to find ways to deal with it. It’s crippling, which in turn creates comfort. This is not the kind of comfort you should be okay with, it in fact is the kind that is most problematic for the exact issue at hand; being unhappy. It really messes with your head.A little over a year ago (closer to a year and a half ago) a friend of mine, Ashleigh, joined a gym called Diablo Barbell (@diablobarbell) and couldn’t stop talking about it. I mean, COULD NOT STOP TALKING ABOUT IT. To the point I had thought she had gotten caught up in some sort of weird weight lifting cult and, honestly, thought she had lost it. The thing was, she was seeing results. She was making choices that were conducive to her overall well being and physical health; she wasn’t wrong to be proud of what she had accomplished. She, in fact, did not join a cult (just so everyone at this point knows). She often told me to come try a class with her, and at one point offered to to comp me one of her classes just so I could see what it was all about. I took the bait. I thought, “okay, I’ll go just so she will stop telling me how great it was,” and was remarkably put in my place in regard to my perspective of what she had signed up for. I LOVED IT! It was fun, it was challenging, there were great coaches (which are all still great, just incase that wasn’t clear); all of which I desperately needed at the time despite my not really knowing it. I signed up that day, I was hooked.Fast forward to a year from that moment, exactly one year today, and let’s take a look. I’ve successfully lost 35 lbs (most of which was fat, not muscle), I’ve started training to get my certification in personal training so I can help others as well as bring a better understanding of the body to my students, I have a better outlook on my day to day mental health and outlook towards life, I have found something new that I feel pretty good at doing, it makes me happy, I’ve met some amazing new friends, and I’ve realized that life really is what you make of it. That’s not to say that everyday is rainbows and butterflies, but when those “rainy days and Mondays” come around, I have the tools, the skills, and the community to look at it with a perspective that keeps me from losing sight of the bigger picture.I’ve, truly, started to learn that I can be in control of my happiness. Fully grasping the idea that I could actually do something about my situation was something I hadn’t really every believed I could do. I gave it a year, it worked. Patience, trust, dedication, and some really good lifting shoes, were all I needed at this point. This post isn’t only a shameless plug for my gym (seriously, check them out @diablobarbell), but a testament to the fact that “what ifs” and the “it will work when...”’s are literally the BIGGEST thing holding you back. Just F#**ing do it. Seriously, just go. Get up, go outside (wear a mask please), and do it. I’m quite proud of myself and I am so grateful to the people who have helped me in this adventure of weights, sweat, sore muscles, and at times frustration. If this last year is any indication of what is possible then 34 will be even better, pandemic be damned.

This is more than just a gym this is a community you join. I walked in broken from past injuries, child birth, and generally not taking care of myself. On the advice of a close friend I walked in and was greeted by Jenn. She listened to all my concerns, showed me the schedule and introduced me to Dr. Vitz to start me in the back rehab classes. Within a month and half Ted and Jenn started to ease me into their conditioning classes making exceptions for things that might aggravate my issues. Almost four months later I am a completely different person. I havent had a back issue in months. Im leaner and clear headed. Im strong and confident. All along the way with the complete support of my trainers. When Im feeling rundown and haggard from my busy schedule with two kids, work, and home life, they bring me back, center me and remind me how everyday I get better and closer to the new self Im creating.Do yourself a favor. Come in and see what you they can help you create for yourself and leave all your reservations at the door.

Dr. Vitz is amazing. She is a talented practitioner that listens to you and SEES your body and figures out what routines, adjustments and exercises YOUR body needs. She recognises the individual needs of the athlete and comes up with a holistic approach to balance your fitness, including nutritional needs.I’ve seen Dr. Vitz a few times for chiropractic and always left with an easier, expanded feeling in my body, tightness and contracting loosened or freed. Most recently Dr. Vitz consulted with me online to hone my workout routines (my biceps were gaining asymmetrically and I felt additional soreness and vascularity on my weaker arm) and to assess my diet. She watched on cam and instructed me in various exercises to add to my routine. These exercises prepared my body for an adjustment! She instructed me where to place my hand on my arm, then guided me on how to move my arm. It blew me away! She gave me an adjustment through Zoom!Diablo Barbell may be a power lifting facility, but Dr. Vitz and her staff can help any athlete. Im not her only distance runner. Whether youve hit a snag, a plateau or just want to improve, Dr. V and staff are there for you.Dr. Vitz is very talented. I can’t recommend her or Diablo Barbell highly enough. This is the training and care your body needs.

I went into Diablo for one class back in January to check it out on the advice of a friend. I really wasnt considering to go more than once given the distance from my house and work and frankly, it just wasnt in the budget. Six months later I have upped that one class a week to two and now three and I cant think of anywhere else Id rather spend my time and my money.Diablo Barbell is not just a place to get stronger physically, its a total Transformation Center. I started out thinking I would just be able to squat my body weight (strength) at some point and now Im on a journey that involves better fuel for my body (nutrition) and more mindfulness in my every day choices (mindset). Ive gained a lot of insight about myself and am learning how to put that knowledge to work in my life. The coaches at Diablo truly care about total well being and they live what they teach. Theres never a day that I leave Diablo and dont have some new thing to think about, whether its a new technique for lifting or a new way to approach every day challenges. If total well being is a journey, Diablo Barbell is the vehicle.

I was referred to Diablo Barbell by Dr. Andrea Vitz, whose chiropractic office is next door. After Andrea got me out of pain, she sent me here for rehab and strengthening, so that Ill never end up in pain like that again. Six months later, I am stronger & feel better than I ever have. Whether you want to get stronger, lose weight, correct back issues, or just feel and look better than ever, this is the place where they will listen to you and help you achieve your goals, and beyond...

I found Diablo Barbell when looking for people to lift with. The owner Teds driving philosophy is to help anybody who walks in the door achieve self-mastery, through learning about themselves in the weight room. Really, its an amazing place. Everybody gets individual attention, with a path set to achieve individual goals.Suffice it to say, this gym is not a typical gym. Its really a place to learn how to get healthy and fit, both physically and mentally. Im so glad they decided to open up this gym to the lay people, so average people like me can benefit from years of expert level knowledge. There is a lot to be learned, and all you have to do is show up!

I came to Diablo Barbell wanting to learn more about powerlifting and received much more. Diablo Barbell not only has some of the best trainers, it provides people with a sense of community and comradery (something I was not able to find at any other commercial gym).I came to Diablo February of 2019 with a 225lbs squat, 135lbs bench press, and a 315lbs deadlift. After just one year of training there I got to participate in my first powerlifing meet where I accomplished a 501.5lbs squat, 253.5lbs bench, and 402.3lbs deadlift. I placed 16th overall in history for the 60kg multi-ply womens division.I would have not been able to accomplish this without my trainers, my teammates, and the entire community at Diablo Barbell. There is something about this place that just brings the best/beast out of you 💪🏽🦸‍♀️

For Andrea and Ted, I realize you have to make a living and thats why we work but from what I observe its so much more. It contributes to a higher good! A place where people can become their best selves. You guys know all of your clients, their strengths, their weaknesses, their ups and downs and you are on from the minute they walk in the door until the minute Ronnie finally leaves the gym. Your love for what you do and the people you do it for amazes me and frankly I have not experienced before. I look forward to developing myself as we go on this journey together 😊@levelheadeddoc @diablobarbell

I came to Diablo Barbell, not because I wanted to lift weights, but because Im a chiropractor and wanted someone near my house to do exchanges with. I was introduced to Andrea Vitz, DC and shes amazing. Not only is she talented and has a positive attitude, but she clearly loves what she does. One day, when I was really suffering from overworking my body, she brought me into the gym and gave me some exercises to do. They worked! I realized that if I want to continue to do the job I love doing, Id have to follow in her footsteps and get strong. The stronger you are, the easier are the things in life you want to do. Ive been going to Diablo Barbell about twice a week for the past 5 weeks and she always keeps me engaged with incredibly insightful, and specific, bits of feedback about how I should be exercising. The other day, I got to work with one of the gyms strength trainers, Jeff, and he was every bit as great as Dr Vitz. Im learning that theres a whole community of people who go to this gym, all at different levels of fitness. There are some huge powerlifters there, but most people look just like normal folks and are doing a wide variety of activities to stay healthy. There are also some people who look like theyre overcoming old injuries or disabilities. As has been stated in other reviews, there are no mirrors in this gym. The vibe is less about what you look like, and way more about being healthy and mutual support. Im so happy Ive become a member.

The best kept secret! In all honest, I was hesitant to post about them because of how great they are!I originally came to support a friend, but what I have gained is something more. I am one of those yo-yo diet/workout fanatics. I am either all in or a couch potato. Ive done my fair share of workout classes, HIIT, crossfit, 25-30 miles of running per week and even weight lifting on my own (6 days a week four hours at a time). However, I have to say, I am probably in the best shape of my life without having to kill myself at the gym, and by kill, I mean killing a bunch of time for my fitness routine. I go here 3 times per week for about an hour and a half at a time. Completely doable!Let me preface this with the fact that I am not a morning person. In the beginning I was a little shy, which isnt my personality, but when youre waking up at 4:30 am to hit the gym by 5:30 am, chances are you arent super excited to be awake, let alone going to work out. However, the people in the class with me were very supportive and encouraging. I felt leaps and bounds behind them, but they were there to cheer me on, something I really dont know how to do for myself. The community is the best! They inspire and push you to work harder, but you must be receptive to the possibility of community. In all the training I have done throughout my life, there is no place you can go with as much one on one training and support. They are there watching you and making sure you have the proper form, making corrections, and making sure you are focused and in the game. They will change your life, not only physically but mentally as well. You just need to be open to the possibility of your best self!Thank you Jenn, Ted and Andrea, I am not really sure where my goal is, but you definitely help to keep me pushing for more.

I came her experiencing discomfort in my lower back due to work related injuries. I had lifted on and off for over ten years at many different gyms (24 Hour Fitness, Crunch, CrossFit, Fitness 19) and had decent progress in my fitness journey. It wasn’t until I started working with Ted, Andrea, Jenn, and Jeff that I started to make incredible gains. In a 6-8 week period I went from struggling to squat 225 lbs to getting a PR of 305 lbs. The best part was, I was learning to lift correctly, with proper form and doing it all PAIN FREE! I learned how to bench correctly and quickly started moving weight with ease that I had previously struggled with. They have a phenomenal program that uses powerlifting and brutal conditioning to get you in the best all-around shape possible. I am incredibly thankful for this place and they have definitely found a life-long member in me! If you’re interested come and see for yourself. You won’t regret it.
