Wasnt bad. I personally loved the old building. Its kept up from what I saw. I didnt get far into it. It is old but nice old. Not sure how to put it.

This is the BEST venue to hold any celebration or ceremony!!!! The hosts are phenomenal they make everything so easy! Ask for Kayla or Angela!

Gibson Mill has been great to my church, Elevation. We rent this facility when hosting events that attract a large crowd outside of Sunday service. The space we use is clean, organized and spacious. To my knowledge weve never had an issue. Tonight we hosted a tradition Holley Furtick started 4 years ago, Reflect. This night is intended for women to come out and support one another. It was powerful, spiritual and allowed women to get renewed. Gibson Mill provided a safe place for that to happen!

We will call this review “Discovering Watty Newsome” ... Watty Newsome is not an honest person. He and his family run City Club and some other businesses in the Concord NC area. After a long spring and most of summer of my wife directly taking care of covid patients, my family and I decided it was time to try to get some time away together. After searching for places near lakes on VRBO we decided to rent a camper from ole Watty at his home place at Lake Norman. We paid 1,500.00 for one weeks stay in a camper in his driveway. Which was not how the pictures on VRBO portrayed it to be. Promises...Promises. While maneuvering the remodel/irrigation contractors that were on site, the boat we expected to rent from him for additional hourly fees was out of service. (Free) kayaks were covered in debris and not readily available. The refrigerator was not in working order missing weather stripping, would not cool & freezer would continually freeze over. (We lived our one night stay out of a cooler). Issues with hot water. Dead rodent smell from behind the fridge. Rat poop behind the jack-knife sofa. Dried contact lens on the bathroom counter, hair on the bathroom shower walls and floor. The wifi didn’t work. Dirty when we arrived and the sewer wasn’t flowing properly and clogged. My wife tried to shower and found herself standing in dirty water, Watty asked how long of a shower she took? PROPANE ALARM KEPT SOUNDING OFF OVER AND OVER and cost us time on a boat rental we made with a nearby marina after we couldn’t use Watty’s broken down boat. So after one night and 1/2 the next day of frustrations we decided to leave. I told Watty we were familiar with camping from previous ownership (our family of 4 even lived in one for 93 days between houses) and this place wasn’t what we expected. I shared with him that we were not happy with the condition of the camper and didn’t feel safe. He basically told me our expectations seemed a little to high of his 1,500.00 rental. He scolded us for not being as happy as previous renters by reading their VRBO reviews to us verbatim. We stayed one night on his property and I asked him for 1,000.00 back and told him to keep the 500.00 deposit because I’m a fair guy. (Deserved it all back!) After multiple phone calls and Watty dodging and stalling and lecturing me about how nice all of his business ventures are, he finally sent me 750.00 and I never heard from him again. I wish we had rented through VRBO instead of paying him directly! So here I am sharing my story so that other people don’t get burned by this dishonest person. This guy is not good people or business man. GOOD LUCK !! Cross your T’s and dot your I’s when dealing with this character! 🤡 I would never do any kind of business with him again!

Beautiful place

The City Club is the home of many events in Cabarrus County. I have attended political events, proms and other functions several times over the years. The facility is beautiful, and well maintained. The staff are usually very friendly. It’s fairly large and can fit a large party. The food is pretty good as well and I love the retro corner that takes you back in time a little bit.

Attended the HSOC Casino Night and silent auction here. Once again the venue was set up very nicely, the food and drinks were very good, and I had a great time.

Very nice place to have a party or event, its large inside and has lots of parking lot. The venue is very clean and well taken care of and they put on many beautiful events from looking at there event pictures. The dance floor is huge and the dj service they provide is truly the best with a great sound system and real nice lighting around the room and on the dance floor.

This venue is very close to my home, family and friends. Would have been a pristine place to hold our wedding.Contacted city club via email and set up a tour of the facility. Showed up, no one was there to meet us. After 30 mins we left. I sent a follow up email and no response still.Very unprofessional. The amount that these venues cost, the least I expect is a bit of respect.Will be passing on my story to all acquaintance and clients.
