I would give them 100 stars if I could. The work they did on my parents backyard is absolutely amazing. A lot of companies will take advantage of older customers, but Down To Earth Landscaping was completely transparent about the estimate and timeframe in which the project would be completed. Complete professionalism all around. I would and will recommend them to everybody. Thank you so much!

This landscaper kept timelines for providing estimates and finishing the work. They were easy to reach by phone or email and communicated frequently. Their attitude was always professional and friendly. And they did great work on an extensive French Drain for a fair price, while looking out for my bottom line. After dealing with other companies that were non-responsive or lacked follow-through, this company was pleasure to work with for a change. Despite it being busy season, they finished my lawn quickly so I could sell my house on time. Thank you Down to Earth Landscaping!

*UPDATE* After posting my initial review the company did reach out to me. They were very professional and apologized for not responding as quickly as normal - which I do understand given the circumstances with Covid-19. I was given a quote and therefor I feel it’s only fair that I update my original poor score I had given in my initial review. These folks are very polite and professional and I will strongly consider their quote to do the work I need done.*Original review: This company sounded promising at first - a sales rep arrived on time for our scheduled appointment to quote me to install sod and irrigation. The technician they sent measured my yard and was polite and friendly. Unfortunately they never called or emailed me back with a quote. I followed up myself but no one answered the phone or returned my call after I left a message. Due to their lack of response I had to keep looking for a new company

I had two drain boxes installed on an existing French drain, new sod, new trees, rock, and bushes installed. They met all of my requests and walked the property with me to ensure I was happy. They also brought several trees to ensure I was happy with the size. They came out with a task force of guys to do the job.

Had two french drains and new sod laid. One french drain exited underneath newly laid sod. I called to say that wasnt going to work. A few days later a thunderstorm occurred and ended up washing the newly laid sod away. They did come and fix it, but wasnt sod wasnt replaced well. Most of it did not take and has died. The other french drain goes up hill at the end and therefore doesnt drain well. They stopped returning phone calls/emails. Do not recommend.UPDATE:. I was contacted about my review, they were concerned about the issues I had and offered to make it right. They fixed the issue with the French drain not draining and still plan on coming out to fix one other issue with it. They have had some personnel changes, so it looks like they will stand behind their work, which is all I wanted.UPDATE 2: They fixed the issues I pointed out with the french drains. It seems new staff is concerned about making sure the customer is satisfied.

I would recommend this company. Through no fault of the company, some of the sod didnt take in our lawn. After initial difficulties getting ahold of them, Brad was extremely receptive and diligent with working with me to have all issues resolved in a timely manner. Ultimately I would use Down to Earth again and would recommend them.

The absolute best there is out there. I have tried everything in the world to get my lawn looking good. Other companies promised they could do it and failed. On a recommendation from a friend I call Down to Earth Landscaping. It took them less than a season to have my lawn looking great! Garrett and his crew can get it done. Nothing to big. They can do it all. They will be the only ones I ever use in the future.

They came to my house for a quote. I wanted to give them my business, but they wouldnt respond back to me. I felt like I was begging them to do the work they said they would do. I guess business is too good and Im not worthy. 😂 Well, thanks to this company and all the other lazy landscaping companies in GA and AL that dont want to work, I decided to get my own mower and teach myself how to do everything I wanted done in my yard, including hardscaping. I saved myself thousands of dollars! My favorite part of this whole experience was that months later, they tried billing me for their services that I obviously never received. When I confronted them, they tried to blame it on a former employee. So ridiculous.EDITED ON 10/10/19:Check out their reply below. They are still trying to claim they came to my property and serviced my lawn. I saw them service my next door neighbors lawn once, but never mine. I was actually angered to see them next door because all I could think was why on earth would they not contact me and schedule us back to back since we are next door to each other?! I wouldnt be surprised if they did the wrong house with the way they conduct business. Maybe they got confused, I have no idea, but never did they touch my lawn. Ever! I am home everyday and often outside so this is laughable. Additionally, my back gate is always locked so how did they get in my backyard? Did they throw their mowers over and hop the fence? Come on! Yes, I sure did accept their quote...as I said, I felt like I was begging them to accept my business. All my phone calls and emails were left unanswered. They never followed through....at least not on my property! Why on earth would I call you guys?! So you can lie to me over the phone? No thank you. Any confusion here is on your end. When you figure out what you did wrong, THEN I can accept your apology. PS...And what happened to their previous employee they blamed all this on? So ridiculous! Please show these before and after pictures you claim to have too.

I dont normally leave reviews, but I chose to try DTEL based on all the positive ratings posted, so I think I need to make others aware of my full experience so they can make an informed decision. Im not saying dont use their services, but if you do, proceed with caution.I called to get an estimate on landscape redesign. I do have a fairly small yard, but they say no job is too small right? So a super nice rep scheduled someone to come out the very next day. Right away Im thinking, awesome service! The gentleman shows up promptly, was very courteous, and showed genuine interest in our likes and dislikes. Im impressed and excited at this point! After gathering info he needed, we were told an estimate would be ready in a few days. Unfortunately, that didnt happen. He did text me a week later apologizing for the delay, which was totally fine because I know life happens. He also suggested some plant types to see which were more to my liking to help with finalizing the estimate (confidence level restored). The estimate was then promised to be sent to me later that day. Unfortunately though, again, that didnt happen. Im pretty patient but at over another week and I hadnt heard anything at all, thats just not good business. It set a tone, like my business wasnt important or wanted. If someone would have just let me know theyre very busy, or need more time, or just cant take on the work right now...I would have been in a different state of mind. When I originally posted this review, I gave 2 stars. I couldnt in good consciousness give less because they were truly very friendly and courteous when I did speak to them, no one was ever rude. The major issue I had was no one ever followed through and I didnt have a reason why. After I posted the original review, I was contacted by the company. The gentleman apologized, explained that recent changes in the company caused the delay, and offered to make it right. For that I decided to change my rating to 3 stars. Overall, I do believe this company strives to make their customers happy. That said, I still chose not to pursue an estimate further with them. Timing for me was important, so it just wasnt meant to be.

When we moved into our house a couple of years ago, it had overgrown landscaping all around, Down to Earth Landscapings courteous and hard working crew handled it like professionals. They far exceeded my expectations, especially with their meticulous work removing the unwanted ivy that was growing on the side of my house. The service was definitely worth every penny. Down to Earth Landscaping will now be my go-to for anything related to my yard. They keep our yard free of weeds, green all summer long, cut with the lines in the grass and fresh mulch year round. Weve had the crew come out numerous times to update our flower beds and they always respond quickly and professionally to ALL request.**Highly recommend them for any lawn care needs**

First of all, we contacted this outfit via email in early May about a project (after a mailing ad) and got nothing but a propaganda email from them about their business (Welcome to DTE Landscaping ). It confirmed they got our email request and it said they would get back to us. But no call back, no contact, nada---even 3 weeks later. When a negative review about this company was posted, suddenly got a call from a guy who tried to claim they never heard from me (but it was and is in my email). But gave them a second chance--mistake two for yours truly. Some guy showed up, measured for nearly an hour, and was to give a proposal which included placing a couple hundred feet of stone as lawn edging (which I was supplying) along with mulch, straw in the beds. During his visit he made all kinds of stipulations and disclaimers about not doing anything more than placing stones, nothing else. Was promised an estimate by COB that day, and never got one. Then when DTE was called next day, the gal said the guy was on vacation and couldnt be reached. Well, after voicing a complaint, suddenly the vacationer called back. He sent the ($$$$$) estimate which included a hefty labor amount and an overblown estimate for the mulch.....nearly double what Id paid in the past even for red mulch. Yet even after being told they would be here (as I was having 2/1/2 palettes--about 3 tons!) of stone delivered, my mistake number three. This outfit just never showed up. Not a call, not an email, nothing from them. So ends my mistakes dealing with DTE. Apparently these folks are just too busy to pay attention to what amounts to very ($$$$) substantial projects. Id look somewhere else for a reliable landscaping company.

Down To Earth was difficult to work with. In general, they clearly care more about getting their money than having a satisfied customer. I had many issues during the construction at my house with trash and a mess being left, unclear construction plans that had to be constantly corrected, unannounced workers giving my wife a surprise, and failure to clean up after the job. Following the job, the only concern was getting money out of me. No one asked if I was satisfied, no one told me it was complete I just got a phone call asking if I “Had any questions about my remaining balance.” At which point I made it clear I wasn’t going to pay until their mess was cleaned up. After several attempts at them cleaning up their mess I eventually figured it was as good as it would get and just paid them so they would stop hassling me. Again, not asking if I was satisfied with the cleanup or the project, just asking if I was ready to pay. They built a good looking retaining wall but I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

We had our backyard sodded and from the very beginning it was a nightmare. They brought in horrible sod from Hamilton Sod Farms. They replaced areas that had died between the time they delivered it and the time it was laid. It died too but we were told it would grow back. They sent out a so-called expert and he fertilized with 15-4-16 mix. Two week old sod should not have been fertilized and this WAY more than should have been put down on new sod. I believe we ended up with fertilizer burn. They said they would make it right. I have called several times to talk to Garrett and he doesnt return my calls. It looks like Im going to have to call in another company to straighten out this mess. After two months the new sod still has not taken root in the dirt. Buyer beware! Im sorry I didnt find someone who would have stood behind their promise of a beautiful lawn. I would not recommend them to anyone needing lawn care. $4500.00 down the drain. And the cost will be even higher to get this mess fixed.

Please read the full review. We were looking for a long term landscaper to manage our subdivision and got promising feedback from DTEL. The initial estimate went well and they developed a beautiful plan. Everyone was excited to see them transform our entrance way. It took them a while to actually come out and get started, but hey, its the busy season so I understand. Once they started, the design started to shape up nicely. So good that in the middle of the process I requested them to do the pine straw for the common areas as I wanted to build a relationship.... fast forward to the end and this is where the problems start.... come to find out that the dirt they brought in fill the area was of mostly clay and now the flowered area is full of weeds. Our entrance way never had weeds before. Now its hard to get in contact with anyone except for the main office. They sent someone out to pull up the weeds and I was there... as soon as I left, they stopped pulling up the weeds by the root and just broke them off so now they are back. Now to the pine straw... about a month after the original timeline a crew came out and threw pine straw out and stopped as if they were going to lunch and never came back. We have pine straw bales still laying around, orange bale strings laying all over the place and pine straw thrown all over the place and in the street. They stopped and didnt bother to tidy up nor come back to finish. This has been like this for a week! Everything started out so promising and Kenny was easy to work with. However, you shouldnt have to be there to personally watch over every detail. The company has much potential but I dont know what is going on right now and communication has pretty much come to a halt. I wanted to be excited about a new relationship for our subdivision but alas, doesnt look like it.*Edit.... Received a call from Garrett who explained the situation. I get it.... things happen. Garrett sounds like he is willing to make things right so we will see. Wish google was able to give 1/2 stars so I can wait for future service. But I will change to 4 stars for now because of Garretts response and personal communication. Stay tuned for updates.*Second EditThe crew and even the owner came out to make things right. This is what I expected and after the short hiccup, things are back on track and the work looks excellent.
