Very unprofessional. They refuse to pay me and talk to you with no respect. They are not helpful at all. Be careful taking on any role with them. They work of commission and are not caring of your success.Edit: 5/7/2021 Not only am I disappointed with there concern and compassion and professionalism. But now the level of professionalism this business is showing is so poor. I called at 4:30 to advise them I am few minutes away. Only to be told they were closed for the day. Yet the website clearly states open until 5pm. Not even an offer to try and accommodate or help me. So disgusted.

I absolutely LOVE working with Dawson. The recruiter that I am currently working with, Bernadette Henry is AMAZING. She hasn’t hesitated to find me very well paying and comfortable assignments/projects. When she’s setting you up for a longer project she is going out her way to make sure you have a project in between to assist with keeping that income coming in. I am overly appreciative of this company and this recruiter. Thank you so tremendously for helping me when you did.

Dawson is not here for the client they are here for the companies that pay them. If I spent my money, time, and efforts to get certified in a specific field how am I not qualified? This was my first time trying out a temp agency and it was not helpful or pleasing. I do not recommend Dawson to anyone based on my personal experience with the company.

Dawson and Bernadette Henry literally changed my life for the better. My old roommate had gotten a few temporary jobs through Dawson and recommended them to me. I was a walk in. Bernadette gave me the self-esteem boost that I needed and made me feel great! She was a strong guide and a creative thinker in regards to what positions would be a good fit for me. She placed me with a wonderful company that Ive been employed at for the last 2 years. This is the first time Ive had an employer that values me and compensates me fairly. I love my job! I did nothing short of keep the office informed of medical issues during flu season and I also let the client know and even went so far as to make sure I had doctors notes explaining the time missed at the beginning of my shift. I offered complete transparency. The client said they were fine with it and didn’t require a note since we were professionals and not in grade school. 2 weeks later on my scheduled mid-week day off I get a call from my recruiter who has no idea what my schedule was and she immediately freaks out thinking I was no call, no show. She knew my schedule since it was part of the deal with all contractors placed at this firm. Mid week day off due to required Saturday shift. But she then tells me the assignment is over for me and to go on the website to look for another placement I’d be interested in. Then she refuses to take my calls after that. Professional places and even other less organized places will just out and tell you if there was an issue and what the reason for separation would be. So not only was I not officially termed, but I have to leave repeated voicemails as instructed for my availability for work. I guess they only want perfectly healthy people to apply. The sick can stay away. Don’t get the flu, or cancer. They had no real placements after a while that were listed on their site other than call center work which anyone could directly apply to on their own. Unless, of course, they were less than truthful on that as well. Their clients were turning out to be just as professional as the recruiter. Jobs that require little to no contact with the public or fellow coworkers trying to interview like you are supposed to be the most personable person on the planet. It was equal to an accounting job. No excitement needed there. The position itself was so anemic there was no point in trying to over do the excitement for a job of basically what amounted to applied geometry. the interviewer forgot about the interview and was nearly 30-45 minutes behind schedule and fell asleep during the interview.I was with this place for quite a while due to the type of work I did and the offerings got crappier as time went by. I made the best of it. But I can see why there were fewer offerings if they were acting like idiots to their clients like to us contractors. I have seen some of the quality workers they placed at other jobs and at one point, somehow, they placed a woman who couldn’t even use a computer. We assumed her kid did her computer test for her at home. It’s good to know how terrible this place was before my health totally failed me. I did what I was supposed to do and still have my office ID’s since no one made arrangements for me to drop them anywhere or actually termed me. Of all the placements only one client actually had their business in any shape that kept their doors open beyond a year or the positions able to go full time.I recommend potential contractors think long and hard about what they are about to sign up for and if you can get employment anywhere else, exhaust all other avenues. Call center work is always available in this area and you can cut out the risk of getting treated like you are dealing with angry children.

I had a VERY “stressful” experience with Dawson mainly due to my recruiter Clara B. I relocated to Columbus 2 years ago with my husband in search of greater job opportunities, I’d left an 18 1/2 year job so Dawson was 1 of the places to which I’d applied based on my financial background.I’d call and call and finally someone called me back only to tell me no jobs available. I was switched to Clara as my recruiter and I expressed to her that I was in school at the time and needed a schedule to work around that, she presented a job to me that (of course) didn’t meet that schedule. I thought about it told her that I didn’t want the assignment (I never verbally said yes to the job), she gave me attitude because she presented the offer to the client but I never said I wanted the position.I told Clara that her communication was wrong and she needed to communicate with a better tone and disposition, fast forward I stopped applying for anything with Dawson. I decided March of this year I’d start again looking for employment, I applied for a position online through Dawson and was called by Clara and was made an offer. I started the position and was always on time to work, from breaks, lunches, and than came “the stress” with the assignment I was on from work place professionalism, to being told the job was one thing yet turned about to be entirely different, to dealing with the job itself. I asked if I could be placed on another assignment I was informed in a detailed message why I could not be placed on another assignment. The same day I was made an offer for a full-time job, I reached out and let Clara know that I had to report for a drug test and start that Monday (I asked the company if a 2 week notice could be extended to start the new job and it was no). I was met with a disposition vis email from Clara that kind of upset me and was told Dawson could NEVER represent me again, I’m now still seeking work because the position start date was pushed back until August. I never had a problem with Dawson just my recruiter now I see positions available to which I qualify for but can no longer apply to Dawson, I’ve never had a poor attendance history, work history, or any problems on a job. It’s just disheartening I wanted to contact headquarters but said forget it as it probably wouldn’t make a difference or change the situation.

My experience, working with Dawson has not been smooth, period. I recently, got out of a situation with my partners car accident, and shortly after, I had an appendectomy , and they have decided to poke and prod, around the reason I had to leave my previous job. Stating, if they don’t have the full story for my “bio” then that is considered a “red flag”. Last I checked, no employer needs a whole essay on what’s going on with your personal life!In addition, they tend to raise suspicion or make assumptions. To explain, Bernadette Henry, the recruiter, asked me when I was available for an interview with BMW Financial. I told her and she said & I quote...” Thank you! Can I ask why you’re only available for one hour each day? I thought you said you weren’t working so I’m just curious J.” Curious or not it’s no ones business. And my name isn’t J...it’s JULIUS!!! Case & point.Needless to say, I’m very disappointed. Here I am...week 3 and still no leads, no job. Now watch me get a disingenuous reply...”We’re so sorry to hear of your experience” blah blah blah, freaking over it. I don’t need a BS response, I need employment. Also, an acquaintance with less experience, who literally just quit two jobs, one of which, she was employed at for only 3 weeks. We both applied for this job, Klarna, and they gave her the job I wanted over me. I saw her resume, even helped her with it, so I know what I’m talking about. Maybe, the people over there are racists, homophobic, whatever, it didn’t make sense to me. Anyway, I’ve been playing this game with Dawson and whatever you do...read the reviews before choosing this company. I wish I would’ve, before wasting my freaking time -_-

I was submitted for over a dozen positions through Dawson with two different recruiters over the course of two and a half months with zero results and zero feedback. I was signed up for only three days with a separate staffing agency and was easily found a job.Dawson also mixed my background screening up with an entirely different candidate and accused me of having a criminal record, telling me they could no longer work with me. Having no criminal record whatsoever I pointed out their mistake and asked for clarification on where this information was coming from. Only then did they realize their mistake, apologize for the mixup and say they could still work with me.Im sure other people have had positive experiences with Dawson but Im not one of them. Given my experience with them I struggle to see what exactly it is they do for your benefit when you are simply out of work and a perfectly qualified candidate. It really sounded like she would be able to place me with a company for employment. However, after she spoke with another women from a different department, regarding my experience and my resume, she stated that could no longer help me due to the fact that Dawson only hires people for administrative positions. This, after I discussed with her that I have been applying for administrative assistant positions. She further stated that due to my full time employment status, was also a factor in cutting ties with me to pursue employment through them.I have interviewed with companies before, who have been very agreeable with the knowledge of knowing I have a full time job. I have been told by other recruiters that having a full time job looks better much better to companies than being unemployed. when you are unemployed, businesses want to know why, and the longer you are unemployed and searching for a job, the less appealing you look to them. You are probably better off working for other recruitment companies who actually want to help you.

I wholeheartedly recommend Dawson as a place to look into when seeking a job because they help you so much. I had been looking for a new job for quite some time before I stumbled onto Dawson. It felt like I was applying for every job under the sun that I came across, but nothing was falling into place. Before Dawson I had been in contact with other companies like Adecco. However, I didnt have any luck because there was no urgency from recruiters in communicating with me. Dawson is completely different and I attribute that to my recruiter, Bernadette Henry. Bernadette contacted me quickly after I applied for a position on Indeed and asked me to come in for an interview. When I arrived to Dawson the aesthetic was very professional and every person I came into contact with was nice. I dont know about you but whenever I have had an interview in the past Im a bit nervous. Bernadette was great because she made me feel comfortable and at ease. The interview was more like a chat with an easy going atmosphere to see what I was looking for and what Dawson could do to help me out. Bernadette was all ears and confident on being able to get me into a position I would like, which was a breath of fresh air after looking for a job for so long. An aspect of Dawson that I think really sets them apart from other agencies is that they literally market you to prospective positions. Dawson will record a video of you pitching yourself briefly, write up why you would be a good fit for the job, etc. to send as your application for a job. Another great aspect is that they do on site drug testing so that once you do get an interview for a job then you are ready to go. I definitely love that because I actually lost a potential job position because the company was looking to fill a spot immediately within a few days and I couldnt get a spot to do my test that would get my results back in time. I had my interview on a Thursday and the following Tuesday I had an interview with a company that I wanted go work for. After my interview I called Bernadette to tell her how it went and she checked in with the company. Bernadette called me back and told me they offered me the job and I was absolutely thrilled. It was just so surreal because it was not even an hour after my interview took place. I cant say enough about how attentive, efficient, and kind Bernadette is.  I was just very impressed by how quick Bernadette would respond to anything I sent her. Check out Dawson because I had nothing less than a pleasant experience.

Once the position ended I applied for unemployment and they fought it and lied and said I quit. Luckily I had a paper trail and provided it to the unemployment office and got approved. After that I had Lindsey Taylor and she got me a job with Morgan Stanley. Unfortunately after a year of being a temp there I walked out because there was no incentive to stay and they kept promising me they would convert me to an actual employee but never followed through. The day I quit Lindsey contacted me and was super rude and unprofessional and told me I was basically fired from working with Dawson due to not giving them a heads up. So I applied for unemployment again. They fought it but again I won because they are liars and I had a paper trail. Basically they said I quit and it’s in policy you’re self terminated if you walk out of a job. But also I found in policy that if you call off without telling them you’re also self terminated. So basically I should have been fired a long time ago and wasn’t so since they cherry pick which policies they follow unemployment approved me! I will never work with a temp agency again. There really is NO incentive to always having anxiety wondering if it’ll be your last day...

I turned I down because I did not have any gas in my vehicle because I had wasted it on interviews that were sold to me through Dawson as logistics positions that were in fact sales positions or roles that would move you into sales positions. I explicitly explained to Lindsey that I would not work Sales for any company because of anxiety.I have had nothing but negative experiences with this agency. Lindsey in particular is an awful representative, she is very loud on the phone and has no respect for requests to contact through email. I have missed out on so much because she all but refused to send me feedback through email. She does not respect her clients and only cares about how much money you can make her.If you are looking for a temp agency or somewhere to help you find job, look else where. And if you dont take my review seriously and get Lindsey Taylor as your rep, request someone else immediately before you do anything with Dawson.

Ive had a good experience with Dawson, including their trying to get me into long term temp positions - not just little jobs now and again.A good number of their offerings are in the Call Center if youve got soft skills and administrative skills. The company lists other things on their internal website but I dont have the feeling thats really whats on offer here. Theres a definite we just want to place people feeling but if youre looking for work and you have skills and pass the tests, youll get sent to interviews or jobs. They definitely want to fill open jobs. They have done well by me and currently Im placed in a stable & steady contract that is set to last at least 6 months which is exactly what I asked for. They are very professional, very friendly , Id use them in the future if under-employed. They definitely are not a recruiting agency but they do have a fairly decent rotating number of job placements that one needs to be ready to jump on within 24 hours.

I had spent over six-month job hunting after being laid off. A very frustrating experience. I went to Dawson to get help with navigating the new world of job hunting. I had the pleasure of working with Hollie Harrison. She was extremely helpful. Within a week as I have been placed in a temp to hire position. That is exactly what I have been searching for. This was my first experience working with a recruiter/employment agency. Great experience.

I would say my experience, from June 2016 until August 2017 was pleasant with this agency. After landing a role as a Youth Development Professional, for two summers straight, working for Boys and Girls Club of Columbus. However, Im giving it a two-star rating after my dispute with Kate Mathney in regards to my continued employment with the organization for the remainder of the school year. There was too much miscommunication and unprofessionalism for me not to have been started for the year. I do blame, in part, the Site Coordinator/Director who recommended me to continue employment with the Club. She fell ill (allegedly) and never got back to me after I found out through a coworker that she had recovered. My biggest disgust would have to be with Lindsey Taylor, because she was assigned my recruiter after mine had left Dawson. Honestly, they lost a really good person and recruiter but the fact still remains that Lindsey shouldve never been temporarily assigned to me. I would ask her for HR-related or professional roles similar to what I did at the Boys and Girls Club, but she would only send me warehouse positions. When my graduate school (mind you, I already have my B.A. and working towards a Masters degree) had announced a collaboration with Dawson, I had asked Lindsey about it and to provide more information (that never happened). Im not sure what the issue has been; however, since then I havent been able to speak to other recruiters or land a temp clerical positions with Dawson. It looks like Im not the only one to complain about Lindseys unethical behavior; which, is something this agency should look into when it comes to who represents their company. All I know is that my W2s for 2017 better come in with no delays or withheld tax issues, as theyre legally required to provide those to all employees.

I do not recommend Dawson. I worked with Lindsey Taylor with Dawson, and I the experience quite. Taylor, a jovial and wonderful person, did not seem to hear me in what I hoped for in a position. She sent me lists of positions not part of what we had discussed the very same day. Eventually, I did take up a post with one of their clients. From what Taylor described, the position would be something I could do well. In the first few hours, I discovered it was not what Taylor promised making me uncomfortable and breaking the trust I had developed for her. I wrote her supervisor, Emily Mason, asking to be switched. After several days, Mason responded that it was a waste of time. Waste of time or not, this experience has now left me unemployed and struggling to find another position without resources.

If I could give this place zero stars.. I would’ve. I came in the office for on the spot interviews with Clara B. and landed a very nice customer service position. However during my time of work due to MEDICAL issues I had to call off twice with an excuse WRITTEN by my doctor. I was told my medical issue and excuse was not valid enough and therefore counted against me. So by then those two days I missed added two points and I only had one more point left before I could potentially get fired. I was on time EVERY DAY and was literally the best temp to hire the company I was assigned to had obtained from Dawson at that time. Not to shame others but that literally came out of my manager’s mouth.A month later of great quality and consistency with the company, I got sick again and ended up having a panic and asthma attack. After recovery at the workplace my hands and face were numb and I became severely overheated. I immediately left to the emergency room not to far from the workplace, informed my manager and did all that I had to do. My manager was the one who suggested that my actual LIFE was more important and to go to the emergency room. So while on the road (please don’t text/call while driving guys) to the hospital, Clara called me literally screaming. Demanding me to give her an explanation of why I left instead of just simply asking if I was okay. I couldn’t even get a word out as she goes on to say how ungrateful I was to even have that position. Clara then LIED and said my manager called her and told her I left without informing. Which happens to be crazy because my manager TOLD me to go to the hospital and texted me that she’ll fix my time card being that I didn’t clock out when I was rushing. So at this point I’m in the hospital still on the phone going back and forth about if I informed my manager or not. Clara then rudely asks “Well are you coming back to work after your little emergency visit?”. I told her I didn’t know, and to be safe I rather just call off to find out the issue. She sarcastically laughed and told me that I’ll have to find a way to make up my time, then hung up. She never followed up with when and never returned my calls about it. A week later right before my shift ended (5:30pm) on a Wednesday she called and told me I’m scheduled to stay over. Mind you I was NEVER previously informed and it wasn’t even on my schedule with the company.I told her I could not accommodate for overtime because on Wednesday’s (which she already knew) I go to bible meeting immediately after work and my religion is something extremely important to me. Clara had the audacity to say “Oh so you’re telling me you don’t want to work? Going to an ‘event’ is more important than making money? Huh? Huh?”. I will NEVER forget her saying this to me. The most disrespectful unprofessional person I’ve ever came across! Once that was said I told her “Yes my religion is more important”, it’s true and the main reason WHY I responded that was is because I felt like she was degrading me to the lowest level.. Right when I said those words she told me I was fired and I could never work with Dawson again. I had to get sent a paper check in the mail instead of it being deposited into my checking account. I wasn’t allowed to call I wasn’t allowed to go back and get the rest of MY belongings at the company.. NOTHING. I don’t have the issue with Dawson it’s just the recruiter I had was so awful. Be careful of what recruiter you obtain there.

I was contacted today by Bernadette Henry, because I submitted my resume to their Customer Service Division. She sounded so “professional” and asked me what positions and pay range I was asking for.I replied back to her with what she asked me and received an unprofessional response stating:“Gotcha! We work with some healthcare companies but those titles are not ones I’ve seen so I’m not sure Dawson would be the best resource for you, unfortunately”.She could have at least say:“ “but” I have these other positions available with these companies, do you think you would be interested?Instead of brushing me off and stating Dawson will not be the best place for me. I realize that my profile pic was in the email, and that I am clearly a black female and she totally discriminated against me.I proceeded to go on their website and boom!!! It explained it all! Their wholeeeeee recruitment team was WHITE! And one black female that is high yellow with blonde hair (sis clearly had to blend in). This is definitely a staffing agency to look out for, when it comes to future lawsuits. Do not sign no paper work from them that allows their company to take your rights away from filing a lawsuit Incase they discriminate on race, age, or gender.

As of now I have to say that my Dawson experience has been consistent and beneficial to my brief hiatus in employment. I filled out a few applications on-line and was contacted quickly about coming in for an interview. My major frustration was the computer skills testing that was required for me to do, but could only be completed on Dawson computers in their computer lab. Being an Apple user I found it inconvenient that I had to travel back to Dawson in order to get these taken care of. Which did result in a delay for employment.I have Lindsey Taylor as my recruiter, she has been quick to respond to my concerns (primarily email communication), provided feedback from an employer about the interview process, and has been friendly and helpful with questions. I do understand that they are a staffing agency and that there is a not always a guarantee in employment. However things have gone well for me as of yet.

I went to Dawson after leaving a job I was EXTREMELY unhappy in through a different staffing agency. I liked Dawson because most everything was able to be completed online, even prior to my interview. On my interview day, my recruiter Emma took down a lot of notes as to what I was looking for in a position. She helped me record my interview video several times over until I decided I liked it. Unlike other agencies, Dawson does all drug testing in house with instantaneous results. Many other agencies send you to urgent care where you have to sit for an hour to take a 5 second drug test and then wait for another 3-5 days for the result before you can even start being submitted for positions. Emma submitted me for 2 positions the same day as my interview! Emma was great with communicating the whole time, mostly through email but also sometimes by phone, constantly asking if Id be interested in various positions and then submitting me for them. I had a couple of interviews and then landed a position that met all of my non-negotiables - 8-5 schedule, no weekends, and with my minimum salary requirement met.I see a lot of negative reviews here, but my experience was not negative at all. Thing is, when you go to any staffing agency, you cant expect a job to be handed to you on a silver platter. You have to also put significant effort and time in. It is a 2-way street with your results reflecting the amount of effort and dedication you show as well. I submitted all paperwork accordingly, I smiled, I wore my nicest suit to all my interviews, I answered my recruiters emails within the hour, I also monitored the Dawson website and sent her additional positions I may be interested in, and the effort was equally reciprocated. While job hunting is definitely stressful, Emma really made me feel like I was part of a team as opposed to struggling on my own. I was very happy with my experience and encourage those that are actually serious about finding work and willing to put in the effort to work with Dawson. If you are looking for a job to be laid in your lap without having to invest any time or move your butt from the couch while watching Netflix, I would recommend gathering some work ethic first.

Very disappointed with their services, I was not place in a job/field where I was experienced. I ask but only response that I got is “we only have this available for you/you don’t qualify for the others”. I’m which you have my resume and it clearly shows off admin. Then I receive a call from a Non local number, she was not even the rep I was working with, besides that she was very rude when asking why I left the job.”kinda sounded like I was her child and she demanded a answer” so I told her I called/texted my rep and then call in to the office in which was no help because I was told to contact my rep and I didn’t get any answer until she called me. This was very unprofessional and misleading. I will never apply or recommend this company to anyone also as they have people working for them that are dishonest and rude. If there was a option for no stars I would give it

Katrina was a recruiter as well she was nice in the beginning but when I mention I went to HR she got upset and starting being very rude to not only me but the other temps that was reporting to her. While my recruiter did do a great job helping me get employment. I do not recommend them AT ALL. The employer that hired me on as a contractor contacted them after 30 days and Dawson decided I was an exception on their deal on early buy outs so I had to wait to be hired. Then I finally hit my 550 hours they require and in the process we had a holiday I should have been paid for (after 504 hrs). I actually worked 560 hours and worked the day before and after the holiday. Well, guess what....Another loophole to cheat you on.....they look back 13 weeks....in other words the whole time! You cant miss ONE DAY or you are not eligible for holiday pay! What A CROCK. So when they tell you that they give you holiday pay. DONT COUNT ON IT! After a week I had a interview with a company and was hired on the spot! Working with Phil and using Dawsons online candidate profile took so much stress out of interviewing as the company felt like they already had met me and I was able to relax. They had me in a position I was excited for within two weeks and I could not be happier! They are recruiters, not miracle workers. Long story short: This company is unprofessional and does not communicate well or return calls/emails. Many previous reviews here by other people state as much, and Id have to say theyre legit. Read on further for my detailed experience (with an 11-30-16 update at the end, after this review was posted originally 10-28-16.)The agency was initially business professional when I visited fall 2015 and it did place me early 2016, of which that ended. Give credit where it is due there. I did what I had to do over the summer, working elsewhere. That proved to not be a fit for me and ended. I decided to try mid-October 2016 to return to Dawson, but I had a personal issue I really needed to address to ensure Dawson was still the best route for me, and thats when the communication issues began. In 2 1/2 weeks, I left one email and two voice mails with my recruiter (and the front desk said on the third contact theyd allegedly send a message as well to my recruiter.) With nothing returned, escalated calls to the site manager, and later the HR manager, went without response. Respectable amounts of time for all messages to be returned (as in days, not hours) were given, and no indications of vacations/time off were stated on voice mails for anyone.I called the front desk today and was told I was active. I requested inactivation. They said theyd leave a message with my recruiter to call me. I essentially said do what you want, but really dont bother as I am not holding my breath for a callback or email anyway. I was done with Dawson.Your experience may vary, and if you have a great one, more power to you, but Id hate for someone else to go there and have the same situation eventually happen to them. And I hate writing nastygram reviews, but, I couldnt let this one slide. I hope if this is seen, they amend their ways dramatically. This isnt a one-time thing or a me thing; this is a pattern from what I can tell, and it needs to stop. This is NOT the sign of a good staffing agency whose base concept is to be people-centric -- especially those who ARE actively seeking employment and dont want to be jobless, and will bust their tail to find proper work, like me.On that note, one final comment: A Google review that existed on here at the time of this writing (10-28-16) that was posted three months prior by a Megan Anderson says, and I quote, If you are looking for a job to be laid in your lap without having to invest any time or move your butt from the couch while watching Netflix, I would recommend gathering some work ethic first. Well, I DO have work ethic, and I DO get off my butt and search for jobs. But you cannot get a job if no one calls you. So yes, Ms. Anderson, you had a great experience. I am happy for you. Just know that your words in theory sound good, but its a two-way street. There are lazy people who expect staffing agencies to work magic, and then there are hard-working people who get nothing out of their staffing agencies. For me, Dawson is proving to be the latter.UPDATE 11-30-16: During the month of November 2016, a marketing director with Dawson did reach out to me, replying to this very review and emailing me directly. I spoke with this director and openly attempted to resolve the issues, but as time passed, not only did I realize my personal situation required me to go in a radically different direction not involving staffing agencies, but the damage with Dawson had already been done. The bottom line is it should NOT have taken writing this Google review to get Dawsons attention. I can only hope that the open dialogue with the marketing director will help fix the situation for future clients, but time will be proof of that.
