We had a blast out on the river today. Staff is amazing and made sure we had all relevant information about pick up and drop off locations, and even provided a little about the local wildlife.

This is seriously the best place to go! They allow dogs, to bring your own kayak and drinking on the river. The nicest staff and they care. Easy short drive to the river but nice long and flowy float down the river with plenty of places to stop for lunch. Great place! We always go here!

Absolutely LOVE and enjoyed this place! My Husband and I kayaked for the first time on this river and had a really great ride! Its very peaceful and quiet and definitely a good time to meditate if no one is around. I love being out in nature and hearing birds and bugs around. The staff there are so friendly and nice and helpful! They like to get to know you and I love that. They werent rude at all or in bad moods and seemed to love their job! I highly recommend this place to kayak!

This place knows how to run a business. They are extremely nice and knowledgeable. The rental canoe was clean and worked great. The staff that helps launch your boat and pick you back up is incredibly nice and helpful. They are SUPER fast too. We had a party of 6 and we didnt have to wait for any other parties to launch or be picked up. Also, this is rare, the vans/bus used to drop off/pick up was also clean! Speaking of clean, they have an outhouse for use and it was also clean and decorated. We had a great experience and will definitely be doing this again. Thanks Higher Pursuits!!!!

This place is amazing! We unfortunately had a capsize right of the bat and one of the kids was too traumatized to go on and they refunded our money completely. They even gave the kids ice cream! Such great staff and it looks like a really good run. Im planning on going back next week without the kids!

We had a family ages ranging from 12 years old to 60+ of age. Rapids are a class 1 and most of the trip you basically floating. Pets are allowed if they enjoy the water as much as we do. The trip is 5 hours but can be done im 3 depending on your stops along the river.

Went for a Labor Day float and had a blast. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will definitely return.

First visit this past weekend, and I had a blast. A friend rented a tandem kayak, which was solid with sturdy oars. Very impressed with the staff and how they handled the info and on/off boarding into the river. I will definitely go back!

We booked a shuttle for the 5.5 mile route with an inflatable canoe. Everyone was awesome, from helping with the canoe, asking if we got our own paddles, asking about putting them together for us... and another highlight were the life jackets they didnt charge anything for.The route and the river was explained clearly, before we took off.I have never written a review on Google, and maybe I will never again, but this company is doing a great job... and they notice between the lines if someone is getting a little scared, and just take that thought away.Being from Europe, I will have to tell some of our rafting and floating businesses how to treat customers.

I would highly recommend this outfitter. Our BSA troop was trying to replace our usual summer camp and we paddled the Cheeks Bend trip as part of a campout at nearby Henry Horton state park.Amidst precautions for COVID19, they were able to manage our very large group and got us to the put in with ease.

This is now our favorite canoe/kayak experience. These are the nicest people on the planet. ALL of them. They are easy to work with, helpful, fun and they are doing this because they love it. We had the BEST time. The equipment is great quality, the atmosphere is perfect and the service is outstanding. They even refunded us with no problem in a situation with our sick dog. I can’t say enough great things about Higher Pursuits. Give them a try and you’ll never look back.

I have been to a few kayak rental facilities where the staff just make you unload the kayaks and push into water yourself... the folks at Higher Pursuits were very helpful and friendly... and THAT is how you gain a 5 star review on Google and the interweb.

We had an amazing day! The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. They provided a place to put our keys, a trash bag, and a dry box to keep a cell phone in! They helped us in and out of our kayaks and carried it themselves. The van was comfy and cool and the service was prompt. We will definitely be back!

A perfect canoe experience from start to finish! The staff were all super friendly, helpful, and above all they know and love kayaks! They keep a big selection in a range of sizes to fit everyone. The pick up and drop off is easy and they have air conditioning in the vans (heaven after a long hot day!) The river itself was filled with wildlife and we saw heron and an eagle! We try a new place every year, but I think this year we found a keeper!

Great! Several adults went kayaking several weeks ago and we had a blast. I decided to bring my grand children. Jan allowed the children to sit in the kayaks on dry land to determine which kayak felt more comfortable to them. She allowed each child to take their time in deciding. It sure made them more comfortable once we were in the water. We have had a blast again. We will be back.

We have gone to Higher Pursuits for a few years for rentals. Always a great experience. Last week my husband surprised me with gear. They totally set him (me) up with a new Jackson Riviera, a great paddle, vest and waterproof cell holder. I love good gear and they carry some really great equipment. Definitely shop small and local with HP if youre looking for quality gear.

This place really stands out from others! You clearly can see how Higher Pursuits means so much to the owners and staff! From the moment you arrive you are taken care of without having to worry about anything. For people who have questions about kyaking/canoeing, no worries! They give you a briefing about safety precautions, what to expect and look for on the river, and what to do if you find yourself in an thunderstorm before you ago out on the river. They take you to the river, unload everything you need, and will help you if needed to get in your kayak/canoe. I recommend this to everyone!!

This rental company is absolutely by far the best place I have ever been to. Best customer service. Extremely patient with my Julie group. Very accommodating. It was my first time at the duck river. Way better than any of those places on the Harpeth. Their kayaks are in excellent condition and they have so many to choose from. We didnt have to wait forever to be picked up like other places. They were there literally within 2 minutes after we took out. I wish I could stumble upon people as friendly as them everyday. Thank you so much for an amazing day!!!!! And you dont have to tip. They dont even ask or suggest it like most places do. But make sure you take care of the people who get you in and out. They honestly deserve it. Shout out to Emily and Shelby!

The best kayak experience I have ever had all over the country. The owners run a well organized operation. Great quality kayaks, they even offered waterproof boxes if needed. There is changing rooms that are clean and cleanest portable bathroom that I have ever seen ( you can definitely tell this place is run by people who love what they do and take pride in their business ). Will definitely use them again.

Kayaked the Duck River Today. Some friends rented kayaks at Higher Pursuits...I brought my own. The ladies who own this place are class acts! They were well organized, friendly and highly professional. They hauled my kayak along with the others (for only $10) and drove me to the put-in spot and picked me up. Their kayaks were the best rentals I have ever seen!I will recommend them to everyone I know & I hope to see them again!

Ive been to a lot of canoe rental places and these professionals are on a different level. They handled our group of over 25 people. We were well informed and it made for a great organized trip.

Really friendly staff and on top of transport to and from the river. They are the best kayak/canoe outfitters we have ever used. Also the office is close to the river so the transport only takes about 3 minutes to the river and about 10 minutes when coming back after your float. They really have their stuff together at this place!!!

An absolute gem of a place! Higher Pursuits (HP) is the best all around establishments I’ve had the pleasure to visit in my many years for kayaking the southeast. Navigating to HP was a breeze using the GPS and their signage was easy spot for the road. Parking wasn’t an issue and my overall impression of the facility at first sight was quaint and organized. You can tell there has been a lot of time and effort placed into their reception cabin/gift shop. Their staff was friendly, professional, and informative. After a quick release form you are brought around to the side of the building for a short briefing. This is were I was most impressed. They had a map and timetables of the entire route. Our guide covered all your typical safety protocol, but went into great detail to ensure we got the most out of our day by identifying spots to take breaks or possibly sightsee.We launched our kayaks after refusing help from the HP crew. Yes, they will do everything but paddle the kayak for you. The other honorable mentions of HP’s location is their additional facilities like their changing rooms and restroom. No one wants a to drive home with wet clothes on or a car full of kids drenched in river water. They got you covered. The restroom is actually an outhouse. Don’t be put off like I was initially. This is by far the fanciest outhouse you’ll ever have the privilege to use if you choose to do so. Overall, I love this place and will be coming back as often as I can. Thanks HP and see you soon!

Our school has used them for a end of year canoe trip for the last two years. This is always a large group (40+) of people and everything runs very smooth. They go above and beyond to help a handicapped teacher. The rental gear is high quality, way better than anything else in the area. For me as a kayaker with my own kayak I was impressed how they took care of my kayak. Most outfitters throw personal gear around because its not theirs and they just dont care. These ladies will make the trip a pleasure. The pre-trip briefing is extensive and safety oriented.

I made a reservation 25 days before the trip for our group of four. One week before the trip I was called and told they booked a school field trip that day and would not rent me a canoe. The only recourse was to change the date of the reservation. It was too late for most in my group to request a different day off from work. The main reason i booked so early was so people could request a day off work.Nothing but disappointment after making the mistake of booking with this outfitter. Never again will i attempt to offer my business.

Number one in customer service! Honest, friendly, professional and knowledgeable! Its a70 mile drive for us to them and worth every mile. After our 2nd trip we purchased our new boats from them. Jan, Dawn and their crew make you feel at home. We chose them for their selection of higher end boats to demo. The first trip we did the upper 9 miles came back with some good feedback and they helped us zero in on the perfect 2 boats.
