We recently had a pipe break which caused a lot of water damage in our home. Our plumber recommended Rumsey to us to assess the damages and help us figure out our next steps. They immediately sent an on call employee, Zac Curry, to our house on a Saturday night to make sure that our home was safe. He was Due to the amount of water that was in between the walls and on our ceiling, we needed to have a large amount of demolition done to our home. Ben and Chris have been such a huge help in making sure that our home is completely dry before we can move on to renovations. They have kept us informed with every step and have professional, polite, knowledgeable, and a joy to work with. We know our home is in great hands! We had a house fire in 2019. Most of the contents were ok, but the house had extensive damage including soot and asbestos. Our insurance agent handed us a business card for Rumsey and said they had good experiences with the company. We contacted Rumsey and have been very satisfied with the service and the work. Its been a long haul, but they were in contact every step of the way. Lance Brooks was our project manager; he has been fantastic. We have always been able to contact him, and hes had lots of useful suggestions. Grace Weller has also been very helpful in keeping the project on track. While I would not recommend putting a house fire on your bucket list, I would recommend Rumsey if you find yourself dealing with one.

I am very pleased with Will and Chris. They were very thorough in ensuring that the areas in my room damaged from an air condition leak was dry. Even though I was impatience with the machines running for almost two weeks, Will explained the importance of getting the room dried out and if I had any questions or concerns, I could call. Awesome job guys and I would recommend this company to anyone in the Columbia area.

Work still in process…however I wanted to get the word out there…This company (Richard) takes the cake in responsiveness. I was overwhelmed for the first 15 minutes of my episode at my house…then Richard showed up, he happened to be in the area!!! Serendipity! He has checked on my floor at every step to ensure it dried out. He gas been an invaluable resource in dealing with all aspects of this insurance claim. Now to the next phase of the project of restoring my floors. I cannot say enough.

I had some water damage and I used Rumsey construction...Chris and Eill were the two who worked on my home.. They were very professional and didnt miss any appointment time. They kept me informed and up to date on the entire process. I would recommend them to any and everybody.

When I asked the company representative about the cost of drying out and clean up of water damage, I was told a few thousand. The bill came and it was $14,000. I Had to hire a lawyer after they tried to charge me over $3500for work they did not do. Only until my lawyer told them I had cameras to prove they did not do the work, was it removed. After tearing out the toilet and shower in my bathroom they left it all in a pile on the ground outside my kitchen door for days. I finally cleaned it up myself While my insurance was questioning the extremely high costs and asking them to contact the insurance company, which they would never do, they took a lien out on my home. I was told they do this consistently to make people pay even when it’s an insurance claim. Absolutely awful customer service. Be careful and look at your bill with this company. Absolutely do not recommend!

I hired Rumsey to look at possible mold issue under my home. Richard came out and did a comprehensive assessment and let me know there were no issues and my crawl space was in excellent condition and restoration was not necessary. I appreciate his honesty and integrity, and BTW, he did not charge me for his work! Thank you.

We had a roof leak that was not addressed by the original roofer. Ramsey came in and repaired it and redid the leaking part that the original roofer should have done from the start. They were quick and responsive to our needs and repairs were completed within a week of acceptance of quotation. Excellent company to deal with. They follow up after work is completed to insure everything was to our satisfaction. They are all about the customer. We worked with Tyler who has a great work ethic! Highly recommend!

We lost a outside storage shed to a fire. Our agent referred us to Rumsey Construction. They were top notch from start to finish. Brittany provided us details on how Rumsey could help us, but was not too aggressive in her approach. She allowed us time to decide and was compassionate to our loss.We were very pleased with our Project Manager Eric Youngblood. He answered all initial questions and corresponded with claims adjuster prior to work being done. He kept in constant contact during the rebuilding process and made multiple visits to inspect the work being done. We were satisfied with all other subcontractors that they utilized. The completed work was high in quality, as well. Definitely will recommend Rumsey in the future.

This has consisted of upgrading a weak foundation some years ago to a new custom bookcase; also we had them do a recent kitchen/den remodel including hooking up the electronics. Can’t write a review of their services because we can’t get anyone to call us back. Despite calling several times over the last 10 days, and speaking to people in the front office. While waiting for their callback- I called several other construction companies , they all returned our calls and have set up appointments for job quotes. You think especially now during a pandemic with many companies faultering and the way the economy is they might be more eager for work. I guess times are good for them and they don’t need the extra business. Use caution though- I can’t imagine how they act once they actually have the job and your money if they can’t even get this first part right. Also, if Rumsey construction company is actually reading this review themselves.... don’t bother calling us back, your services are no longer wanted.

Had a bad storm come through, they replaces any missing and discolored shingles. They are very efficient and professional contractors who have the clients best interest at heart. I know who to call when I need a new single room.

The quality of work is outstanding in every way. Tony’s craft is more along the lines of an artist- he is truly gifted. Natalie was such a tremendous help to me with color selection, backsplash, hardware, flooring, you name it she was there for me. Rumsey Construction recently completed an extensive renovation of my newly-purchased condo on Main Street. Having done a number of renovation projects over the years, I can say without hesitation that this was among the very best.The end result was everything I’d hoped for, and the experience of working with the Rumsey team was excellent. This was a challenging project in many ways. Working in a condo building is generally a challenge in and of itself. Moreover, the plans for my condo had a number of non-standard features such as pocket doors, jib doors, and extensive bookshelves. Rumsey approached each of these with a positive “we can figure this out” attitude.

Brendon and his team at Rumsey Construction did an excellent job restoring my house after some major roof damage from a fallen tree. They were very responsive and did quality work. Prior to the tree incident, I had just completed a major renovation project to restore the house. The house was built in the 1930s and there were several unique and original parts of the house we kept during renovation. The tree not only damaged the shingles and roof decking but also some of the original pieces of exterior wood work. I was very concerned it would never look the same or match the original areas that were not impacted from the fallen tree. After seeing the completed work I cant even tell a tree fell on the house. The new wood work perfectly matches the original. Great company that does quality work!

Rumsey Construction came on board before I closed on the purchase of a fixer upper. I received their estimate in a timely manner. One of their representatives even came to the DDRC meeting where my Bailey Bill application was being considered. They have been awesome to work with, and the quality of their work is top notch! We had extensive damage on our beach house from hurricane Florence. Zach and his crew were there from the first day we were allowed back to our property. They took control of the remediation which entailed the complete removal of virtually all the insulation, sheet rock and carpet from the house. They were thorough, neat, clean and professional...and prepared excellent paperwork for our insurance adjuster. Aside from some minor details that weren’t covered by our insurance policy, their entire fee was reimbursed by the insurance company. They also replaced our roof and now we are the envy of the neighborhood. Our only wish is they would do the reconstruction as well as the remediation. Alas, we are out of their territory for that type of work, and now we need to find another crew to rebuild. We wholeheartedly endorse the Rumsey crew.

PLEASE stay away from this Company! I hired them to perform water mitigation services and asked them to pause pending the claim submittal with the insurance company. I was IGNORED and they left their machines at my house despite telling them multiple times to STOP. Months later, they sent me an inflated bill. Without any meaningful attempt to discuss the details of the bill, they immediately placed a lien on my house right at Christmas. This Company is a complete RIP OFF. Please please stay away.

Rumsey construction originally built my house in 2008. In 2016 when Hurricane Matthew came through Columbia, a tree fell on my house. Rumsey folks saw the Facebook post and said call us and we will come out. I did and they were wonderful. After the tree was removed, they were here and had a tarp on the roof, and the wet insulation removed and they then dealt with the insurance company.We had 3 holes in the roof and after they were repaired , a new roof was put on. Inside we had damage to the dining room ceiling. This was fixed and the whole kitchen and dining room ceiling and walls were repainted. Also any extra work outside was done.My lovely house looked as good as the day it was built.The whole crew were pleasant, caring and very good workers. Many remembered working on my house in 2008 and knew which parts of my house they had built.I am having some work done on my front porch right now and I called Rumsey as I knew they would do a great job.I can not thank them enough. it was like having family working with us. Thanks so much to all of those people at Rumsey.

First they were very eager .a team of 2 people came out to assess water damage and mold from a leaky pipe which was substantial requiring complete renovation of laundry room and adjoining playroom wallsIt was by no means a smallI picked and supplied all necessary information within a weekI asks multiple times if they are busy if they have the time and was assured every timeThen I waited for weeks for quiote , calls were not returned .Meanwhile some visitors even displayed health issue due to the mold growthFinally i was able to reach a sales person and was told they do not have the time or interest at this timeI wasted more than a month ! This is extremely unprofessional especially not haveing the courtesy to call !

They did a great job of roofing my home but now after just three years Im having some leakage from the roof. Brendon sent someone that day to look at where I expected water damage. Problem was resolved and hope that solves any future problems.

Recently, around 11:30 pm we had a plumbing leak that came through the ceiling and flooded the floors. We contacted Rumsey Construction & Restoration and they came at 9:00 am the next morning and set-up blowers, dehumidifiers and something that specifically works for hardwood floors. They were extremely knowledgeable and professional which took a lot of stress out of a stressful situation. After their instruments showed that the drying process was completed they removed the old sheetrock, put in new sheetrock and painted. Their fast action also saved the hardwood floors! They did a fabulous job and you cant tell that there ever was a problem. Our contact at Rumsey was Chris Blanchette. Having one contact to handle all this work was such a timesaver and Chris was the ultimate professional!

We had water and mold damage in a rental condo that my tenants notified me of in August 2018. Rumsey came to assess damages on August 17, 2018 and we closed out final payment on November 20, 2018. The project was small — a wall between a closet and bathroom, drying out sub flooring, vanity, and carpet in the bedroom, and some minor ceiling repairs on the condo unit below; however, it took close to 2 1/2 months to complete the work. They delayed sending a quote to my insurance for over 10 days (while claiming that “delays with insurance can happen,” even though the hold up wasn’t even on my insurance at that point), and there were significant delays in getting carpet in, measurements were done incorrectly, my original countertop ended up warped after leaving it in the bathroom while drying out the room, cabinets were installed poorly, workers did not show up on time, etc. I had to constantly stay on top of Zach during the remediation part and Mike during the repair period to ensure things were being taken care of properly. I did speak with Brendan at one point, when the carpet installers didn’t show up on the day they promised, leaving my tenant without a bed to sleep on as he moved all the furniture out of the room himself to make it easier for the carpet installers to work, and while he agreed there were delays on their end due to high volume of work and not enough employees to handle the volume, he promised he would ensure the rest of the job went smoothly. After paying the final balance, I received another incorrect invoice requesting further payment. When I questioned the balance, Rumsey overstated the amount I owed and I had to go back through emails and provide a breakout to them. I am disappointed in their service and felt tied to them since I went through my insurance and did not want to cause further delays for my tenants selecting another company. I would not recommend this company for water remediation or repair work given all the additional work required on my end to close out my project.
