This shop is amazing! After being tricked into an extremely expensive service that I didnt need by a different shop in town, I became very cautious about picking where I should take my vehicle next. I needed a place that was trustworthy; and I found that at Automotive Specialist! The customer service is amazing, and extremely thorough in explaining what is wrong with the vehicle, what needs to be done, and what to look out for in the future. When pricing for parts during my last visit, they told me they were able to cut the price in half by knowing exactly what I needed, instead of replacing the entire piece. Being a college student I often give them my fathers number for them to explain the problem and give the go-ahead on the repairs, since I am almost always in class after I drop my car off. After talking to my dad on the phone, he says, You need to give them a good Google review, that place is great. So, here I am lol. Great service with quality work. I wont go anywhere else in town!

Took my vehicle to diagnose a problem. Like that you get to talk to the owner that knows his stuff vs some shops hard to get past a receptionist who doesnt know anything who just tells you to leave your vehicle without getting to talk to someone who knows anything. They got to it quickly but was end of week on Friday so I asked if I could pay for the diagnosis and bring it back Monday so Id have my vehicle in meantime. When I got there Doug just handed me the keys with no charge and said call him Monday. Shows character. For all he knew I couldve just decided to fix it myself once he told me the issue and him not make any money off the deal, where most places you would pay $50-$100 to find out whats wrong. Will be back to let them finish the job.

These guys are the very best! They will get to work on your car in a timely manner, and keep you updated. They never charge a second time if they have to go back in (though its rare they miss something the first time). Their rates are extremely reasonable. They may be the cheapest in town. These men are honest and friendly. Once I discovered this shop and their quality work, I have since stuck with them for years. I recommend them to everyone. Go talk to Doug. Hes the best!

Doug was super helpful and fair. He got me in and did a full diagnostic and told me what exactly was going on with my engine and how much it was to fix it. I was referred to him from Columbia Transmission and was super pleased with both businesses!

Went in for a vehicle inspection. It took very little time for them to inspect it and return it to the front for pick-up. Friendly and thorough service. I recommend them to all of my friends!

Absolutely outstanding. I am not from the Columbia area and had an issue while in town. I found their shop and they got me right in, diagnosed, and fixed extremely fast. Their customer service is above average as well. While there I observed them interact with several customers, and am impressed with the level of professionalism and general care that was extended to the customer. This shop has a small town feel in the big city of Columbia.

These guys are awesome. I had the misfortune of my engine blowing up 700 miles from home. They immediately checked it out and gave me the bad news. They were very accommodating and helped me out all the way up until I was able to get it towed back to Colorado. Top notch shop ran by great people.

Drove into Columbia to run errands, -3 degrees outside, heater wasnt working and when I got there I noticed coolant leaking from engine. Water pump was about to fail catastrophically, no chance of making it home. Drove to Automotive Specialist, time 11:30am. Doug confirmed the problem and said they could fix it right then. A couple hours later, and for a reasonable price, Im on the road again with a new water pump installed

Glad I found this mechanic shop. Last June my car developed an electrical problem. Doug and his guys were so helpful. Instead of replacing a part right off the bat they worked with me for a few months trying various methods to solve it before replacing the cluster. Their prices are fair and they are very honest.Whenever someone tells me they need something fixed on their car, I always recommend these guys!

They repaired my car today. The problem solved. It was quite fast. I dont know if anywhere else can offer a better price, but their price is acceptable to me.

Most of the staff is kind and professional especially Doug. The prices are also very reasonable. This would be 5 stars but a woman that worked there made an unnecessary comment about the cleanliness of my car that irritated me a bit. As a research scientist that regularly transports animals I know my car can get really untidy at times. I would have taken the time to clean it, but since I had surgery less than a week ago I figured I would let it go for a bit longer.

I saw the reviews so I used this place for a pre buy used car inspection. They were thorough! They found multiple things from the sunroof, to previous front end damage, to rotor issues, and the alignment was off. I was thrilled that they caught these items for me, as they would have cost me big $. Thanks Automotive Specialist. My kids are students in Columbia, and this will be the go to auto shop for them.

After multiple experiences, I can say the price is fair and the work gets the job done right. I have also found Automotive Specialist to be honest. If they find another issue, they tell you if it needs to be fixed ASAP or can wait. Just really can’t say enough good about them!!

Ive been taking my cars here for five years, and wouldnt consider going anywhere else in town. Their prices are great, everyone is friendly and we have found them to be honest and trustworthy when it comes to the work that needs to be done on our vehicles.The first time I came in it was for work another shop told me was needed. Automotive Specialist could easily have done the job and charged us for it, but they took a look and said there was a cheaper and simpler fix, and they were right. More than once they have gone out of their way to get a job done quickly when we needed it. These guys are the best.

They replaced my 1999 ford rangers head gasket and spark plugs for $1500. The truck has 260k miles and was a hard choice to make, but it worked out because it drives like new again. Thanks auto specialists :)

After having a bad experience at a different auto shop, these guys were really nice and patient with me. They let me know exactly what needed to be repaired on my car, and were eager to help. Their service and prices were great! I will be going back here if my car ever needs to be worked on again.

Labor tends to be on the higher end, national average is $80-$100 for non-dealer shops. Automotive Specialists is at $102.00. The staff there is friendly. The work quality seems to be good, and the staff is knowledgeable, I had a retired mechanic review my bill after my initial sticker shock, the estimate was $720, it ended up being a little over $900. Parts were also a little more than I expected. According to the retired mechanic, dealerships usually have approximately 50% markup, and private shops are usually around 30%, my bill was between 33-35%. I would say other than the stickershock, I was overall fairly satisfied with the shop.

The best Ive ever felt leaving an auto shop. Their quote was lower than the other places I went, the final charge was exactly what was quoted, and the problem is fixed! Couldnt be happier.

Automotive Specialist has some of the most professional staff around and will get things done for a decent price. Ive taken 4 different cars here over the last few years and have had a good experience each time.

Had a locked up u-joint on my driveshaft while on a roadtrip. They couldnt get a replacement part anywhere in town, but they managed to get it freed up enough to get me home and charged me a very low price to do so. Would highly recommend.

Great place for auto work in Columbia, MO.These guys always fixed my car for a fair price.One time, had an oil leak. They stopped the oil leak. The leak came back a week later. I called back. Then, they offered to fix the leak again at no labor cost.
