My son needed to achieve a 29 to receive a full tuition scholarship at his chosen school. On a pretest he scored a 28. He did Philips 3-day boot camp and took the text 3 days later. We just got scores back... he got a 32! So grateful for Philips coaching and guidance!

I started working on my PSAT with Phil during quarantine through zoom. Even through the less than ideal format the class was extremely helpful. I had kept working with him for my ACT as well. My scores, especially writing and language, improved dramatically and helped me achieve my goals on both tests. My oldest son took PSAT and SAT prep classes during summer and fall 2019. I thought he would roll his eyes at our suggestion of taking these classes, but after the first session, he actually looked forward them and took the practice tests in preparation for the classes without nagging or complaint.He earned a 1420 on the 2019 PSAT, which earned him a National Merit Scholar Commended Student recognition, and a 1580 on the September 2020 SAT, with a perfect score in Math! We found out about Sage Tutoring through friends who live in COS. We actually live in the Midwest. Our daughter wanted to raise her SAT score in the Evidence Based Reading and Writing section. We hired Phil Hutcherson for some one on one online tutoring sessions. Phil gave our daughter excellent tips and suggestions so when she ultimately was able to take the test (canceled 3 times due to Covid) her total score increased in this section by over 100 points. Phillip Hutcherson of Sage Affordable Tutoring was recommended to me by my daughter’s high school college counselor. I met with Phil who asked a number of questions on my daughter’s current ACT score. Based on her score, Phil predicted what her score would be after a few months of ACT coaching (twice a week). I was initially skeptical of the number that Phil predicted and took a picture of the paper on which he had written the number. My daughter attended the coaching sessions for two months and then took the ACT. She scored the exact number that Phil had predicted.Over the two months that my daughter attended Phil’s sessions, I often sat outside for the entire session and was impressed with his ability to connect with the students and the strategies and tips that he provided to handle different kinds of questions.

Two of my children have used SAGE Affordable tutoring. They both attended tutoring at least once a week and sometimes twice a week. Theyre initial scores were not high enough for the schools they both wanted to attend. Neither of them is a great test taker. We saw an increase in both their scores on the next test after attending SAGE. Both my children wanted to try to get an even higher score and after attending several more sessions they both reached their goals. One of my children increased their ACT score by 6 and believe it or not the other one by 12. They could not have done this without the help of Phil. Both of them attended the group sessions as they felt they learned from the others attending the sessions. I would highly recommend SAGE Affordable Tutoring to anyone needing help on the ACT or SAT.

SAGE seemed like the absolutely perfect thing for me. I needed to get my ACT grade up, and from talking to Phillip on the phone to viewing the various accolades of previous students, I was impressed. I decided I would visit during one of the group drop-in sessions and see what the course offered.TLDR: They wanted me to cheat on the test, I never came back. Read on for the story:I was early, but was eventually sat down in a conference room in the cozy center and greeted by Phillip. He asked me if I had brought and ACT study guides, a calculator, etc. I wasnt informed I needed any of these things but luckily had them in my car. When we finally got to studying, it comprised of him giving me a list of items to focus on, and a math worksheet. I was told to do the worksheet as an assessment to find out where I was at. Phillip stayed on his phone during this part of the session, and when I had a question, proceeded to teach it to me on the blackboard, which was helpful.But when we got near the end and I asked for general study tips, he said something that disturbed me.You know, not all proctors at the testing centers actually check the calculators before the test. You could keep something on there and theyd never know. Do you know how to do that?Of course I do. I was a high school student and had programmed many shortcuts into my calculator. But I was paying $36 an hour to learn how to ace the ACT, not how to cheat. If I wanted to learn to cheat I could do that myself.I paid for the lesson, and never returned. I am 100% sure that Phillips and SAGEs study sessions are extremely helpful, and I have no doubt that their material and custom study guides would have been very informative. But I want to beat the ACT fair and square, not take a cowards way out.The test day came, I cleared my calculator myself, and walked into the center. I sat down to take the test, and no one had checked my calculator. So in the end, Phillip was correct. They dont always check your calculators. Extra star for factual accuracy when encouraging me to cheat, thanks SAGE!With all that said, I would love to change my review. The ACT is an unfortunate but necessary part of highschool, and more kids need help with this. When my siblings may eventually go through this program and I hear differently, Ill be inclined to change my review.Edit: As you can see below, Phil was very polite with his answer, and I have given SAGE the review of Good. as I recognize that their services are useful, and hopefully any suggestions to cheat were an anomaly I was unfortunate to experience.
