The fact that the instructor, Sensei Jude Miller, has taken multiple martial arts and has attained a black belt in them is one reason that you know you have come to the right dojo. The next is his knowledge and the dojungs direct lineage to Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido. Last but not least is that he teaches children for a living so it translates over to teaching in Aikido and Tangsoodo. I am in the military and unfortunately had to PCS (move). I am eager to return and train some more as soon as I can. The Center For Aikido & Tangsoodo will always be my family.

I highly enjoy this school. I have been participating in tang for multiple years and have been with three different schools. Out of those schools, this one has felt more home to me than any of the others. Mr. Miller is a great and understanding teacher who has taken time out of his life to assist me in figuring some things out. He’s great at figuring out the best way to teach someone so they understand, and is willing to adjust class plans if a student is sick or injured. I’m hoping to be able to continue with this school for many years.

I started studying Tang at the Center two years ago (at 28!), and I have never looked back. This martial arts school is very traditional, and we can trace our lineage back to the founder of the art - which can be hard to find these days. Ive always been fascinated by martial arts, but I didnt want to study at a cookie cutter school. So when I found this place I knew I had found something special. The instructor strives for nothing but the best for his students and challenges us to push ourselves to be better not only for ourselves but for those around us. I have grown so much as a person since I have started my martial arts journey here, and I wouldnt trade my experience here for anything in the world.

Ive been a student of Tang Soo Do here for almost 2 years, and I greatly enjoy it. The instructor is helpful, knowledgeable, and cares about his students. He often will tailor the class specially if someone is sore, sick, or stressed. Just last week I was sick, and Mr. Miller (instructor) ran two hours of stretches and exercises specially to help my recovery. Anyone curious about classes is always welcome, and I would highly encourage you to see class for yourself. Mr. Miller has always been understanding, encouraging, and has always freely offered refinements for forms and techniques, so much that you cant even grasp it all in one night; promotion is never a secret ritual. As he always says, The secret is in the sweat. Work hard, practice and listen, and I think this school will have a lot to offer to your health, respect for others, determination in life, and of course, your ability to defend yourself.

This dojo was my first experience with martial arts. Everyone is very welcoming and helpful. The atmosphere is comfortable. I enjoy going to class and miss it so much when I am unable to attend. It really has helped to change my life for the better.

My daughter has been studying martial arts for the last 5 years, the last two at the Center. Of the 3 schools she has attended this is the one that has been the best fit for her. Great instructor both for her as an adult and having watched him with his kids class he is simply amazing. Would recommend this school to anyone.

I have been going here for about 3 weeks now with my son also taking classes. Mr. Miller has been great help with teaching both my son and I. I appreciate that assistance that he has had working with us and really do hope to continue and keep moving forward in my new martial arts home and with the many new friends we have made while attending classes.

Great patience and instruction. Ive watched my son, 8, start to learn stronger focus skills, which have been a struggle, as well as improved manners with his peers. His confidence had gone up not just because of the instructor but the senior students who are fantastic in helping their junior peers.

I have studied here for about 6 months and will continue to do so. @ the reviewer who cannot even stand by his words with his name...Are you even speaking of the same Dojo I and the other reviewers are? It seems unlikely to me that you are, as everything you have claimed in your ranting is opposite if the experiences I have had. Mr Miller has proven to be a patient, kind, encouraging Sensei, and it is an honor to study under his tutelage.

Ive been training at this dojo for 6 months and I couldnt be happier. Miller Sensei has been a great mentor, and while he can be very tough I have never once been pushed past what I can do. He has very high expectations for each of us, but he knows we can reach them if only we are willing to put in the work. There have been times Ive come in injured or are injured on the mat and he always has adjusted my training to help prevent further injury and to minimize the damage already done. This dojo has helped me to become stronger as a person in every way. I have become stronger, calmer and more connected to my surroundings. It has become my family, sometimes messy and painful, but a family that works together and supports each other through the hard times.

Family. Thats what I think when I walk through the doors to train. This is my home. The people that I train with...they see me. my struggles my imperfections, my strengths and accomplishments. I am not in a cute little health club. I am someone who walks through these doors to improve myself...and the people around me.The journey is hard..its not about how fast or good you are. Its about how are you improving, how are you growing...its about joining in harmony with another person and saying I see you.Aikido is hard, with a set of standards..but the hardest part? walking through the doors and getting on the mat. after that its all down hill.yes, youll get frustrated. youll face yourself on the mat and have to look within yourself...you wont do it alone though...your dojo family..they will be there right next to you.I love this school. it has seen me.fall it has seen me struggle and they have helped raise me up, helped me grow.without my Dojo family..and Sensei Miller. I wouldnt be where I am.I encourage anyone reading this...walk through the doors just once...let it change you.

I currently train at this dojo, and have been for roughly five years. I love the school and the people who train. One might ask why four stars? Giving five would imply that we have reached our peak. While this is bar none the best dojo/dojang in the Colorado Springs area, I dont believe it would be very Aiki to assume that we have reached perfection. I would give it 4-1/2 if that were an option. The training is rigorous, yet fun, and belts/ranks are earned...period. Miller Sensei expects everyone to give their best. While he is sometimes a bit rough around the edges, he is good man. Got a problem? Take him aside and talk to him. He is a good listener and takes the concerns of his students to heart. The price is right. Expect to pay up to two times as much at other hyped-up, commercial dojos. At CATSDs, one can learn two arts for one , very reasonable rate.
