She had a genuine care for me and my hopes for birth. She made me feel seen and like my birth mattered! While I was in labor, she was reassuring, knowledgeable, and encouraging! I’ve given birth 3 times, but this was my first labor and delivery with no epidural and I was nervous. I hired Sarah to be my doula this year and I can’t imagine not having her through my prenatal, labor, delivery, & postpartum journey. I’m already looking forward to hiring her again when I have baby #2! This was my first pregnancy so I had a lot to learn, but Sarah was incredibly supportive and informative while I was creating a birth plan and preparing for labor/motherhood. In labor, there was a significant difference in the way I was able to move through contractions before and after she arrived. When she got there she immediately began rubbing my back in magical ways and speaking positive affirmations over me to help me with each wave. She knew all the right movements I needed to make and she could read my body well enough to know I was progressing fast. We would not have made it to the hospital in time without her! After the baby came she checked in on me every few days and met with me for a postpartum appointment to make sure I had all the support I needed. She was with me every step of the way and I can’t say enough amazing things about her!! Her knowledge and expertise is perfect. Her character and spirit is beautiful! I loved every moment with her.

Sarah helped us with our second baby and it was a great experience! She was responsive throughout my pregnancy and always checking in. During labor, she was very in tune with where the process was and she knew when we needed to try something different or get ready to go. We delivered at the birth center and having her at home with us during labor made all the difference in how perfectly we timed arriving to deliver! My husband said later how much more comfortable he felt laboring longer at home with her there to support us. She knows her stuff!

Sarah is amazing! She is extremely knowledgeable and has information for everything(birth related). She is very supportive and listens to your concerns. I have had Sarah for both of my births. She is prepared and has things that you dont even think of. She even let me borrow her tens unit! I would have been lost with out her! I had such an amazing experience with Nurtured in Joy Birth Services. I hired Sarah for my second pregnancy as my second experience with a doula. She was so amazing. She was so friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable. I had done a ton of research to help with pregnancy and delivery but Sarah was still able to help me with other techniques and considerations. My husband was also very comfortable with her and she was able to help round out my support team very well. She was able to advocate and echo my voice during delivery which was very helpful. The postpartum support was very comforting. My first doula (different company) just checked the box with a quick check in after delivery but Nurtured in Joy Birth Services was very different. There was genuine care about my well being and concern during check ins. Having Sarah as our doula was the absolute best decision that we made for the birth of our daughter in April. Sarah is truly one of the kindest people I have ever met and I dont think I could have achieved my goal of having an unmedicated birth without her! Sarah truly has a God-given ability to assist in births. Her calm demeanor, encouragement, and knowledge of how to labor well made our experience a beautiful one. I had prodromal labor for 1.5 weeks before my son was born and she was prompt in answering all of my questions and concerns during that time. She also has training in lactation support which is an added plus! It was so nice having her there after the birth to help get breastfeeding started. She even picked up dinner for my husband so he didn’t have to leave the birth center just hours into our son’s life! I cannot recommend Sarah enough. We would love to have her there at the birth of our next baby!

Sarah was an absolute joy to work with. She is truly one of the kindest humans! She was supportive and helped us navigate some unexpected issues towards the end of my pregnancy. I was able to have the birth I had hoped for with her help during labor, she never left my side. I cannot say enough good things about Sarah. She was my doula for my second home water birth and she was nothing short of amazing. She was great at reading the room and knowing exactly when to suggest different movements, counterpressures, offering hyrdration, literally anything she could to make everything as comfortable as possible. Whenever the nurse or midwife needed a hand, she was there (even when they had me do handstands to get my baby to turn to a better position for birth, she was there to help hold me up). Whenever I felt like I couldnt keep going she offered words of encouragement. She was incredibly kind to my other children. She stayed longer than she had to make sure everyone was settled and comfortable. Sarah is phenomenal at what she does and my family and I are incredibly blessed to have had her there to help welcome our final family member into the world.

Not only was she extremely attentive to my needs the day of the birth but she took the time prior to the big day to get to know me better. This was my first pregnancy, my husband and I thought we had a slight idea of what to expect. I would say we GREATLY underestimated the entire labor process! Sarah was strong, constant, comforting and encouraging. She was there for us both in different ways, and I was able to stick to a natural birth plan because of her. She has a great knowledge of labor and assisting in different positions, which at one point we had to use to reposition my daughter as she was coming in transverse. Her knowledge and assistance was beneficial before and after pregnancy, I can not find enough words to describe how thankful we were to have her along on this journey. My husband and I could not rave about using Sarah’s services as our doula more! Having Sarah as our doula was absolutely the best choice we could have made. She was the first interview we did and we didnt even need to see anyone else - we knew she was perfect for us right away! Sarahs advice and support was so valuable during my pregnancy and the birth itself. She has a very calm and caring demeanor that makes everyone feel comfortable and safe. She was great with my parents and my husband and helped them through times where they were unsure what to do to support me. She ensured there were pictures of the birth (as we requested) even when things were hectic. I dont remember a moment where she left my side and she managed to take care of many things at once. My sons birth happened very quickly and took us all by surprise (3 hours and 45 mins for my first born!). Sarah took me seriously right away when I said things were moving fast. She arrived very quickly and was right there to suggest different positions and massage my lower back. She calmed me down when I was feeling panicky because I wasnt prepared for the intensity so quickly. My son had some trouble breathing when he came out and Sarah remained calm through everything, comforting me and reassuring me that I did great during the birth and he would be okay. In the weeks after the birth, she was available to help with any questions I had and she connected me with a great lactation consultant when breastfeeding became a struggle. I recommend Sarah 100% for any woman who is looking for much-needed support during pregnancy, childbirth, etc.

Sarah was everything I needed in suppprting us through a high risk delivery. She was a huge source of comfort and emotional suppport while we navigated our options and choices in delivering our son. I cannot imagine going through the birth experience without Sarah! I had an AMAZING home birth of my first baby, and am so incredibly happy with my whole birth team, and I know that Sarah’s support was a huge part of my ability to give birth at home and without interventions. Since it was our first baby, my husband and I decided to hire a doula, and I seriously cannot imagine what it would have been like without her. She helped my husband stay calm, she supported me in so many ways— but most importantly reminding me again and again of my own strength and capability. I will always remember the way she looked right in my eyes and told me again and again that I could do it, that I was doing it, that my baby was on the way! She also made sure I had sips of water or coconut water, massages my cramping hips, placed cool washcloths on my neck when I was in the tub and made sure the midwives arrived at the perfect time! Additionally she took the most amazing pictures of the first moments after birth! I also appreciated having her knowledge and advice during pregnancy and postpartum also! That postpartum visit helped ensure our breastfeeding journey was off to a good start. I am so grateful to have hired a doula and especially grateful that Sarah was the one we chose! Definitely will hire her again if I have any more children and will recommend her to everyone I know!

I did not have a great birth experience with my son and I wanted to walk away from my 2nd pregnancy with a positive experience. We had Sarah be our doula for both of our girls and she is the best! We planned a home birth for our first daughter and Sarah was amazing, she is so knowledgeable about the labor process. We didn’t know what to expect with our first birth, and having Sarah walk through all of it with us was so comforting. We planned another home birth for our second daughter, but ended up having to change plans and be induced at the hospital. My husband and I were so reassured that Sarah met us at the hospital right away. We hadn’t planned for a hospital birth, but fortunately Sarah was there to walk us through again. She helped me have a natural birth at the hospital. She has such a calming presence, is able to help with pain management, and different positions to assist with the labor process. I couldn’t imagine having a baby without Sarah there!

Sarah was so wonderful during my pregnancy, especially so during the birth of my daughter Isabelle! After meeting with Sarah shortly after finding out we were expecting number 4, we discussed my desires and asked Sarah to be on our Journey. I have a history of pregnancy complications, too include long painful inductions. We wanted a doula to help me through this physically and emotionally. True to my history, this was my fourth delivery with complications. I was induced due to pre-eclampsia, but despite this, I was determined to have an all-natural, pain-med free delivery as we decided this would be our last baby, and our last opportunity to experience a natural delivery.My induction started gently on a Sunday night, but wasn’t until Monday late afternoon that my labor got rocking quickly. Sarah arrived once we knew my labor was progressing steadily. Her calming presence was so reassuring to me. She was so gentle in her coaching and support helping me with positions on the labor ball, standing, on the bed, to ensure baby was in the best position for delivery. She also guided my husband in how he could help during my contractions with using the TENS unit. (Which I loved). Sarah’s steadfast calmness and reassurance helped me process my contractions and manage my breathing right up till pushing. She helped me focus when I didn’t think I could. Once I felt the urge to push, our baby girl arrived quickly. We had done it! After a labor that lasted only 3 hours from conversational talking to holding baby, She supported all of us in helping us achieve a med-free delivery. And while we were up against a lot of different possibilities because of the induction, her help was so treasured! This birth was my fastest, and most wonderful despite being fully induced.Regardless of your type of delivery, I highly recommend Sarah. Her support to me physically and emotionally was phenomenal. She is there to support you, your goals, your family. Even if your goals change, her goal never does: to support you and your family, and to have a healthy Mama and healthy Baby. And We did!

Ive used Nurtured in Joy Birth Services for all 3 of my births and will have her at all future births as well! My first ended up being a c-section with no laboring at all, due to a breech baby! Sarah still met us at the hospital, stayed through surgery and after to make sure me and baby were ok, even though it was after midnight! Second baby, Sarah was with us laboring at home and in the hospital for well over 15 hours until an emergency c-section that she again waited through to make sure we were all ok! This last birth Sarah came to my home and aided me through a successful VBA2C home birth! She is the perfect amount of comfort and push to get you to where you need to be mentally to allow your body to do what it needs. Sarah knows all the pressure points to get you through contractions and is my #1 recommendation to every expecting mom I speak to! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Prior to this pregnancy, I had heard of doulas but did not totally understand what they did or how important they can be. The place we delivered required new parents to have one and Sarah was one of their top recommendations. She was the first and only person we interviewed because from the first meeting she made us feel super comfortable. Sarah helped us understand up front what her role would be as a coach and support person. She met with us multiple times prior to my labor and delivery and shared with us her wealth of birth knowledge, helping us to feel as prepared as possible.During my actual labor she was an incredible teammate for my husband. She wasn’t there to take his place but to guide both of us through with extra comfort measures and words of encouragement. She brought a calming energy to the space and helped me to feel safe and strong. Even after baby girl arrived, Sarah has remained a resource and will always be an important person to our family! 10/10 would recommend!

Sarah was the best person I could have hired to help me through my labor and delivery. She was a very calming, and knowledgeable presence during the delivery of my second son. Sarah was an incredible birth coach and companion through the labor and delivery of our second child. She brought an expertise that carried me through the toughest moments, from some prenatal decisions we needed to make starting at 38 weeks, to her bag of tricks during labor (including the TENS unit that was so helpful), to her encouraging me to do the stairs in our home in order to progress labor along. We would highly recommend Sarah as a doula!

I had a long labor with my first baby, and Sarah was there every step of the way (including sleeping on our floor one night to monitor my contractions). We hired Sarah as our doula for the birth of our first child. She was absolutely amazing and the perfect addition to my birth team. She has a wonderful, calm, and positive demeanor. I didn’t use a doula with my first child nor did I have a natural birth, but this time around it was a VERY big goal of mine for personal reasons to do a natural birth. Sarah fully embraced this but at the same time, with my first labor being very intense and fast she never made me feel that having a natural birth this was any kind of requirement to using a doula as I kind of thought maybe it was. She made it clear she was there to support me in whatever I wanted to do! Sarah was available almost instantly through the whole pregnancy with any question I had which amazed me being that she has four kids of her own and does at least four births per month! She has a wealth of knowledge on all things pregnancy and birth and did a lot of side work for us including emailing me articles and stuff! I had to be hospitalized at 29 weeks for pre-term contractions. She prayed for me and wanted to know every update and even set up a meal train for me as I had to be careful with too much activity for a few weeks! I could tell she takes what she does very seriously and develops a personal connection with each one of them. As we got closer to delivery, she helped me with my birth plan and made sure I had everything I wanted from peppermint oil which was super helpful with nausea to me having the warm bath I wanted. She also embraced and loved my strong willed daughter who wound up being in the delivery room with us and even let her use her camera and didn’t get mad when my water broke on it🤣🤣!! Thanks for all the Vagina shots Sarah! There were unique circumstances for our family in this journey and she told me she was praying for us all leading up to delivery on her own personal time🙏🏻!! Thank you Sarah for helping me accomplish my goal of a natural delivery but also for coming alongside our family and being our friend! We treasure you immensely!!

I had the most amazing birth experience thanks to Sarah! My husband and I were having a hard time communicating with our care team regarding our birth plan and so we decided to hire a doula to help advocate for us in the delivery room. Sarahs online presence and her stellar reviews led us to call her first. In our first meeting with Sarah, we knew we were going to hire her.Her rates were much lower than we expected! She even set us up with an amazing birth center and found out it was 100% covered by our insurance. We had some great meetings and Sarah gave us lots of information and handouts to help when I was going to begin labor. She even left us with a yoga ball and a tens unit for pain management. She was very helpful when we drafted our final birth plan. Everything went perfectly and I used all of the information she gave us to have a really amazing natural birth. Our baby decided to come a little early while Sarah was on vacation with her family and we had to call in the backup doula. Everything was perfect. We had met the backup doula ahead of time and had all of her contact information. She came right over when we needed her and she was also wonderful. Sarah came back into town the very next day and has been on top of following up and helping us out with breastfeeding, cloth diapers, and helpful websites for quality info and advice. Hiring Sarah was the best decision we made for our daughter and ourselves!
