Not sure if i just caught them on a bad day but this was by far the wildest flight Ive flown. I went to get checked out in the DA20(which I have 500 hours of time instructing in type) so I could fly my family around the following week. Showed up and met the instructor who would be performing the flight. After he reviewed my logbook we stepped to the plane with no briefing, no review of Peak Aviation procedures or 91.103 information. Upon taxiing out he remarked my taxiing speed was 5 knots too high in a condescending tone. “Gotcha, Ill bring it back,” I said. Would have been handy to know the Standard Operating Procedures for ground taxi. We takeoff, passing through 350ft AGL he remarks “well what about your flaps”. I reply that my company raises flaps at 500ft AGL to aid climb out. He replies “we take them out at 250ft”. I say okay and retract the flaps. At this point I start to think if he thinks im on a checkride? Or a Job interview? How am I supposed to know these arbitrary numbers if we never had a briefing over Standard Operating Procedures? He then remarks that Im flying Vy 4 knots slow(as if thats illegal) for this particular DA20. Again, How am i supposed to know, I was never allowed to review performance numbers? We fly out to the east and come back. Entering the downwind I ask him how Peak Aviation expects their patterns flown? (I work for a the Military and do military procedures for landings) I get no response. So what the hell lets run LCGUMPS i guess. I push the mixture full rich because thats what my company standard policy is(AFM 4.4.11) and plus got no response from my instructor on how he wants it done. The instructor freaks out grabs my mixture and loudly exclaims “NO thats stupid why on earth would you ever do that? running a engine rich...” At this point Im so frustrated and just ready to leave. We land, park, and shut down. Then I proceed to get a free ground lesson in the plane, canopy closed on how engines work and how my company “down south” is dumb for Mixture- Full Rich on final(kinda insulting) and how it fouls plugs. Thats fine, thats great, ill happily land your DA20 with a leaned mixture, whatever you want. The DA20 AFM in 4.4.11 clearly says FULL RICH and 7.9.3 only confirms this more. Even if the airplane didnt have the altitude compensating fuel pump, i wouldnt have known since we never reviewed anything. So I was going by the book since my IP was not helping out. We walk inside, he tells me i need to provide a Passport or Birth Cert to prove im a legal US citizen to the FAA. I explain to him I dont have to because I am already a Commercial Multi-Engine IFR pilot with a CFI-A and my certs clearly states “Nationality USA”. He didnt buy it and told me to talk with Jerome at the desk who said “you dont have to show us them” Then my checkout instructor just disappeared. No debrief, no nothing.Casey and Jerome were pleasant to work with.

My wife and I had an hour flight with John. It was a Christmas gift to my wife. We got there a bit early and John was nice enough to tell us all about the planes in the hangar and to tell us about his flying experience. Fascinating. We have been pilots for many years but have not flown in a while. John was so nice and made the flight amazing. He is a good guy. Another good guy is Casey. He searched for our record of the gift as we could not find ours of course (did I say it was a CHRISTMAS gift?). He worked with us and made this a really fun experience. I cannot thank him enough. When we are ready for our flight time to get back into it, they are my choice.

I started back in Aug 18 with an intro flight where they took me up and showed me what flying was like. I immediately was hooked! I had lots of questions which they were able to answer and help guide me down the road I wanted to take...get my Commercial License. I started training. Whats nice about them is their large fleet of different aircraft to choose from, a half a dozen instructors (each with different personalities) allowing you to choose who best fits your learning style, and how well they maintain their planes. They dont take risks! If something is wrong, they fix it! Love that they fly from a major airport too, because it gives you greater experience. If youre looking just to take a couple flights for fun, or trying to get your Private License, or go all the way to Major Airlines, THIS IS THE SCHOOL!

I have used Peak Aviation for many rentals of aircraft and instructors for aerial photos. They are always accommodating and professional often working with my tight deadlines. I have also taken many instructional flights and had a good experience with all the instructors. Like any person they have different styles and personalities and you have to find the one that suits you best. Highly recommended.

I have always wanted to fly. I now have the time and resources in order to make that happen. During my initial call to this company, I spoke with a gentlemen (whom I found out later was named Jerome) and he seemed to be of little help to me when answering my questions. So, I decided to arrive in person, the next day. John and another gentlemen I spoke with, were very helpful. I left with the necessary paperwork/folder and was informed that I needed to fill it out and bring a COPY of my passport and DL. Before driving back down down today (from my home in Monument), I called to verify what documents I needed to bring in. I (again) spoke with Jerome and he informed me that all I needed was a copy of my passport and DL. I gathered up all of my paperwork and drove down to the office, from my home in Monument. When I walked in, I had to stand there and wait for Jerome to complete whatever he was doing on his computer, before he would even talk with me. When he did speak with me, I mentioned that I had some questions about the paperwork/signatures in the folder and that I was there to turn in everything. Immediately after taking the folder from me, he asked to see the (DL and Passport) original documents, which he never made me aware (during our call earlier that day) that I needed to bring with me. I had just made the drive (from Monument) for nothing. His response, after I mentioned these issues, was well, sorry. I am a little hesitant to continue with this company if communication is gonna be this forced and unclear, which has made me feel as if I am going to have to double-check ALL information that is given to me in the future.

Disorganized and disrespectful of your time. Set up a training date over a month ago only to be told a day before that the instructor was booked full now and couldnt perform the mountian flying course. All they could manage was the ground portion. Showed up for the ground portion and instructor chose to ditch work early. No phone call or anything and bear in mind this was set up a month in advance. Complete waste of time. Choose a better flight school guys.
