Another mechanic failed my car saying 2000.00 to fix. Then go to Shumate and a little of 700.00 later, passed.

I have never had a problem with Shumates. They do good work and prices are competitive. If I could change one thing, it would be getting a follow up phone call advising me of status of my car. Calvin is a good mechanic and tries to run a straight forward business. I have never had a serious problem. Keep your receipts.

I have bringing my car to Shumates for fourteen years and they have always been fair and honest. They have kept my Hyundai Sonata going strong for 380,000 miles.

The lady at the desk was very friendly. The mechanic called and explained in detail. Since it was going to be very costly to do the repair, I opted not to proceed. They discounted the diagnostic charge. Will definitely go there again the next time I need car repair.

Man I mean very humble people, had an 8am app. They were open when I arrived an the nice lady brought my son breakfast so I say yeah go there Ive been going since 2004 to now July 2017Grade A+

AVOID THIS SHOP AT ALL COSTS!! I payed $629 to get my heater core replaced, and thats just labor since they asked me to get the part myself because they couldnt find it. They also inspected the car. When I drove back home to meet a friend, the tail light was out THAT SAME DAY and the dashboard lights delayed when turned on, so I brought it back to them. They couldnt fix the electrical problem with a fuse burning out repeatedly, yet they were very confident it was not an issue behind that dashboard that they worked on. So I took it to another shop and they found out that indeed IT WAS a problem behind the dashboard!! I ended up paying an additional $172 to get that fixed to the new shop. I politely asked Shumate for a refund since they caused it and brought my receipts. Owner was not there and I didnt get a call back, so I called 4 days later. They were very defensive and rude in person and on the phone saying things like sue me and hung up on me. They were upset that I took my car to another shop, even though I took it back to them first and they couldnt fix it. Waste of time and money. The new shop was able to fix their mess in 1 hour with no issues.

After several years of being a loyal customer, i can no longer recommend this shop. It is like pulling teeth to get an inspection or anything else done bc they are always complaining about how busy they are instead of just hiring help. State law requires that an inspection station inspect a vehicle within 3 hours unless there are other inspections waiting. I have been put off for multiple days on at least 3 occassions, and when i brought up the law, the lady in the front office stormed off. They dont seem to understand this law, nor do they understand the importance of taking care of repeat customers regardless of the law. On top of this, the lady in the front office is down right hateful and acts like she is too good to be at work. I have spent several thousand at this shop but will NOT spend another dime here and i suggest you take your business elsewhere as well.

Very Competitive rates! My friend who is a Gm mechanic was as stuck as I was on a no start for my tahoe. I Had it towed to the dealership only for them to tell me I needed a new computer and harness repair, $1655 in work. I then had it towed to Shumates. The Techs were on it as I was leaving, 2 hours in diagnostic work was only $170 and it ran great. Calvin even went the extra mile and replaced a bad ground wire, several fuses and cleared my codes free of charge. He said I was a pleasure to work with and was polite so it was no problem. Very knowledgeable! Thank You for your fixing my Chevy! Runs better than it did before.

If you are looking for unheard of elevated pricing and time projections for work to be completed, go to shumates! The sad part is that the shop was one I chose until the original owner retired and sold the business to his brother. That began the downward spiral for this business.
