So far so good - I will be moving to Top Field later this year and has a pleasant experience with touring the facilities.
I have been looking for an apartment and on-site looked several. The service from Topfield Apartment complex in Cockeysville Maryland give me impressive memories. So I give them 5 starts for its service.
Topfield is a great place to live if you dont have to contact the property manager or need anything fixed in a timely manner. When you work hard and pay your bills on time you dont expect to be treated in a rude and unprofessional manner. Topfield is not the cheapest place to live and my apartment wasnt the most up to date unit, to begin with, so when something breaks down you expect it to be fixed within a reasonable amount of time. For example a few weeks after we initially moved in the kitchen sink overflowed. I remember being in another room and all of the sudden hearing water hit the floor. Thinking it to be an urgent matter, I contacted the emergency number and sent out an email all to no avail. It was two days later before someone finally showed up. Another instance was when our refrigerator broke down. There was absolutely no cold air coming out of the refrigerator or freezer. We were eventually given another one but it took them at least 3-4 days to come out all while freshly purchased food spoiled. My suggestion to anyone looking to move here is to not just take my word for it but to drive to Topfield yourselves and ask someone who currently lives there about the apartment units as well as management, just as someone asked me right before we moved. Further, it is evident to me that the property manager is just that, a manager. It appears that this is just a job for her as my interactions through phone and email indicate. When recently preparing to move out of Topfield we had to give two months notice. I went to the office to hand deliver my letter and one of the maintenance guys opened the door, greeted me, and handed my letter to the office manager. Having a question I needed clarity on, I asked if I could speak with her briefly. Understanding that we are in the age of COVID I waited at the door ,with my mask on, and stood back to make sure I was properly distanced. While standing outside of the office door I could hear the manager curtly say that I would have to call/email to make an appointment in which the maintenance guy came back and relayed the message. Ironically, when I went to pay my final statement she told me via email that I can bring a check or money order to the office. Huh? Be on the lookout for any politically correct message following this review apologizing for my experience. Like I said dont take my word for it go around to Topfield and check it out for yourself. Also, you may want to ask about other viable options pertaining to the swimming pool if is closed again next summer (The pool was closed this summer but there was nothing offered to replace the activity), I would also ask about the use of the tennis courts and why residents of Topfield have a hard time gaining access etc...
First they send me a list all of all top floor apartments, without number of bedrooms or prices. Then I asked wich hvacs are new because I have hearing sensitivity. They dont know.
Pros: Great, great, great location. Its tucked in a quite neighborhood that is away from any main roads, so its very peaceful. The area is clean, and the apartments are nice.Cons: Be aware they charge you WAY TOO MUCH for water and trash pickup. We lived there temporarily while our house was being built, and I paid more three times more for water there than I ever did owning a home. They do some weird averaging thing to get per apartment costs. Keep this in mind when you are budgeting. Also, the staff was quite friendly when we were about to rent, and while we rented, but after we moved out, I sent a note asking when wed get our security deposit back and got a very unhelpful response about how they legally have X number of days to send it. I was thrown off by that.
I loved Kaitlyn and the mateince staff here. The apartments are a bit too expensive BUT honestly I had such an amazing time living here. Matience always helped as soon as I had an issue. They were so nice and friendly. Kaitlyn always was willing to answer a question or help me out. She was honestly so courteous and helpful. I am super surprised to read some of these other comments saying she was anything but. That shocks me.The apartments were in great condition and were very comfortable. Loved that there was a pool.
I am a former tenant of the Topfield Apartment complex in Cockeysville Maryland. I physically resided in the apartment complex from Friday June, 8 2018 to Monday December 24, 2018. I purchased a home December 2018 and provided an early termination correspondence to the rental office. I signed an Early Termination Agreement that stated my balance would be $1959.00 due on January 27, 2019. I moved into my home, vacated my apartment, and returned my key prior to January 27, 2019.I was later sent several eviction notices and a separate document stating that I owed a balance of $6,504.37. Neither statement reflected what was in the Early Termination Agreement. There were no damages to the apartment and the apartment was not newly renovated – I moved into an older model with dated appliances for a cheaper monthly rate.Despite the 2.7 rating and poor reviews from tenants that went through the same scenario that I am currently experiencing; I decided to move into this property. I would like to resolve this matter at the lowest level possible; however, I am prepared to file a complaint with the state and pursue this matter in small claims court.
The apartment was big and I liked my neighbors a lot. A lot of kids that my daughter enjoyed playing with. The pool opens too late in the spring and closes too soon, when is still hot out. Its also open only form 11 am to 5 pm. After we left we were billed 1000 bucks for carpet damage, as if the dog rent and deposit plus security deposit were not enough. The carpet was dirty (normal dirty, not disgusting, we always took our shoes off inside) but it just needed cleaning, not replacing. There will be wear and tear after 1 year, you cant expect new carpet for each new tenant.
I lived here for 2 years. Generally, it was a nice place to live. We never had many issues while we were there. However, major issues arouse when we moved out. Like another post made here, we were charged over $1,000.00 for them to replace our carpet when we moved out. We were there for 2 years, and ordinary wear and tear was all that was done. We attempted to resolve the issue with the leasing office, and we were basically ignored and referred to a collections agency. Now we have to file a complaint with the state and file in small claims court also. All this because they, illegally I might add, sent us a bill and expected us to roll over and pay without question. I would NOT recommend living here. Even though our time there was ok, the hassle they create afterwards just isnt worth it.
Safe area and friendly staff. Would recommend
Lovely place and nice neighbor.
