The staff here are always very nice and very helpful, but sometimes it can be frustrating with their pricing. They can be one of the most affordable places to buy pet items, but other random items are marked up higher than any other retailer. It can be frustrating having to go between multiple stores to get the best price.Their reward program is rather nice though and often gets you very good prices on daily need items like food or treats and the like. Still a frequent pet shopping stop for me, but I usually price check their items before buying to avoid random markups.

Our dogs always have a good time at Doggy Day Camp and during their stays at the Pet Hotel. We can feel comfortable leaving them because they get so excited when they know where we are and there is no hesitation at all once they see the staff...they rush behind the counter so they can start their fun time.

They were eager to help until they figured out you werent going to buy into theyre monthly payment of 50 bucks and it would only be 700 bucks plus the extras that will be over 50 bucks each time it comes up. Then as soon as you say no there attitude changes to rude

I understand there are many supply chain challenges right now, but this store was out of everything for which I was looking, and employees were scarce. Went to Petco and found everything I was needing, and the employees were were most helpful - even helped me carry everything out to my truck.

The grooming department is rude and extremely disorganized. My dog had an 8am appointment to be groomed after staying in the pet hotel for a few days with a 12pm pickup time. I came in a little after 12pm and they had just started working on him. I was then told he should be done within the hour and they will be sure to call and send a text notifying me he is ready. They never did call or text. The pet hotel is great, but I will never use them for grooming again.

I cant say enough about this petsmart! All employees are friendly and knowledgeable. We take our dog for advanced training and for day camp, all fairly priced! Allison is our trainer and she is VERY good. They have all levels of training and a good over night day care!

A one (1) star is too good for how their grooming department treated my German Shepherd! I explained to them that he has high anxiety, especially when being separated from me, and instead of doing things the easy way they physically dragged him through the swinging door, stopped, not allowing me to step out of his sight before examining him. He climbed over the swinging door twice for me, was shaking uncontrollably and she still had a tight grip on the slip leash. The manager heard the commotion and came in as I told them to give me my baby back. When I called the store later to complain he tried to tell me that he was there the whole time watching, which he was not. He supports his employees not even offering up an apology for how it effected my dog. It took over 30 minutes for him to stop shaking and breathing hard and he has had stress induced diarrhea for the last 4 days since it happened.

This place has a good selection of foods and supplies, though I might suggest avoiding grooming at any PetSmart. Our dog got cut in the eye at a PetSmart groomers, and while they took care of the vet bills, the dogs sight was never quite right after that (went partially blind in that eye).

THE CASHIER HAD MY BACKREMINDED ME I HAD TREAT FUNDS (REWARDS) I NEVER WOULD HAVE KNOWN ANY DIFFERENT. EVERY STORE I HAVE SHOPPED 2 DIF.SO FAR STAFF SEEMS EDUCATED, INTERESTED, ATTENTIVE TO MY CAT NEEDS. ENJOYABLE RETREAT.

One star is generous. These people are pet Nazis. Will not let you buy a goldfish without having a 33-gallon tank and a filter, after making us come back one week later to ensure our water had enough time to neutralize. Try Petco or another local store. Never coming back again.

First time having my dog groom/ short trim and full bath. It wasnt a good experience, we asked for the ear hair to be trim but it looks very bad trim, it was uneven and didnt look like they trim the hair on the inner side at all. We received a call that he was very scared of the blow dryer they had there, so it is taking a longer time to finish drying him. Which I understand, but I dont know what else happened during that process.When we arrived home with him, he looks like he got injured in his hind legs and he had some slight limping problem. If he was too scare for the drying process, I would rather they told me that they will skip the blow drying portion. They sound like they were rushing it to get him done on the phone. Im taking him to the vet Monday to get it check out and Im hoping it is not injured by any sort of trauma. If it is, I will never schedule any bath or grooming from here again.

Its a big box pet store. Doesnt have the best selection of fish. And is often crowded, but the main reason we go is for doggy daycamp. It isnt terribly pricey and gives my pup time to learn how to play with other dogs.

Love, but lately they do not have much inventory of the food I go there to get. Im going to have to ask if they are discontinuing it when I go today. I hope not, I used to go to PetCo - its closer to me but they stop selling our brand and so now I go to this PetSmart and I really like them.

I love Banfield clinic and I’ve been to their grooming department at this location and it was decent but I don’t shop there for my dog food or for my fish anymore. A lot of the bad reviews for this location are accurate and described experiences I’ve had at the store but since I do love Banfield clinic I’m being generous with 3 stars. I go to Petco in Jordan Creek and their prices are better and they take way better care of their fish and their customers.

Came for betta supplies.. Prices were higher than other petsmarts in des Moines and a large amount of bettas were dead in their containers. Also noticed no other animals in the store except 1 hamster..Not sure why. Something about the place was just unpleasant

Products, and services are great, but they are understaffed.They need to have a better policy for managing ratio of customers:cashiers, and have people in the aisles to answer questions/managing stock.Also having dog tags right in the path of checkout is the dumbest idea ever. You cannot choose a tag in checkout lane traffic.Very poorly managed store.

Selection of available fish is small, many of the tanks are empty. Betta fish are always a decent price and the staff was helpful and friendly. It should also be said that many of the tanks that were stocked were stocked nicely with many fish looking healthy. However, I would advise not buying any decor from this place as the prices dont beat those of other competitors when compared on sale.

If I could give this place a 0 star review then I would. Me and my friend went to buy a fish last Sunday and we had gotten all of the needed supplies. We picked out 3 pretty FEEDER goldfish. we went to the check out and the lady running it talked us out of buying the fish and came across as snobby and overall rude. I said whatever and we purchased our items and went out to the car, once there I decided to get the goldfish anyway. I grabbed my 2 dollars and walked back in to buy the 33 cent goldfish(99 cents in total). I told the lady that I had changed my mind and I wanted to buy the fish and she said that she had already put them back in the tank. I said that was fine and I will just pick out three new fish, she said that because I didnt have the tank set up for at least a week then They wouldnt live very long. I said that i know that you may think that but I came here to buy fish and I am going to do that. Her friend came over because they were talking and she said that she cant let me buy the fish because they wont live long. I said I realize that they may die but they are 33 cent feeder goldfish, I think that it will be fine. She said that she cant in good conscience let me get the fish be cause it would be inhuman. I was getting the kind of gold fish that you feed to your turtle. I said I get that is your opinion but I dont care. She refused to let me buy the fish and I said whatever and walked out of the store. I will not be coming back. Service was horrible. I highly do not recommend.

Pretty high prices but they will price match if you ask wich is pretty nice but pets arent cheap and really tough when you have multiple and deer antlers are more then 30 bucks for a piece... you cant find them laying on the ground every year when they shed and its free theres no justification for some of the prices.

I always find what I need in this place, staff Is always extremely helpful and understanding about my pets. I have rats and everyone is always excited to see them as I bring one specific one to shop with me. I even got my dog a hair appointment here same day care and it was fairly inexpensive for a bath, nail trim and ear cleaning. 10/10

Took my miniature schnauzer to get a haircut. They did a terrible job. I’m gonna have to re-cut the dogs hair this afternoon! The facial hair is super long and as far as the sanitized cut for the rear end it’s super hairy. As a miniature schnauzer she should have a cut line for skirts and that’s not there. I will not be returning!

Shopped online and in store. I love this store more than the competition because when I go in there to buy fish, Im not told NO, where as the other place actually refused to sell me fish. I mean these gold fish were for my kids and were about $0.33 a piece. Im a life long customer now. Thanks for having such an awesome store with very friendly employees and super great prices!! They have a wide variety of animal products from a small selection of live plants for your aquarium to adopting a kitty they have reptiles as well. Reptiles could be taken better care of although they are still healthy. Fish selection looked a bit sickly but overall prices are fair selection is ok. They also offer a grooming service but I have checked it out so I cant recommend it.

Came in to get supplies for my fish tank and decided to look at the bettas. There were atleast 6 dead in the front row and one was very gross and had clearly been there a long time. How can you be a pet focused store and mistreat and ignore living creatures

I wish theyd actually have their holiday deals mentioned in store, not just online. I usually order things online (not from them) because I feel the company doesnt want whats best for the consumer. They seem deceitful by only honoring a deal thats on their website IF you bring it up IF you know about it. But between petco/petsmart my experience has been better with petsmart.

Staff at this store are superfriendly and helpful. Some employees even remember my dogs name. The one complaint I do have is more of a supplier issue and has been going on for about a year is the availability of superworms and of late crickets. Whilst the store employees have no control over this it would be nice to have all my pet needs met in one place.

Im really disappointed with this PetSmart in Clive, I am constantly trying to give it the benefit of the doubt and try again another day, but I will no longer be coming back to this location. There is rarely more than 1 cashier no matter how many people are built up in line. Workers are standing around and making circles around the isles and refuse to help customers. I found an associate and asked if I could get help in the reptiles section and I waited 15 minutes before the cashier got a break and could help. And I tried coming back for crickets and they were out, which is fine. But I pushed the button for help and simply asked if they were all out. Instead of a yes, Im sorry: were getting more on Thursday I simply got a chipper Yes were out! With a smile which came across purely patronizing. And this day was like any other with 2 associates standing around while 1 cashier was working hard at the register with a long line of people. Wont be coming back any time soon.

Brought my Australian Shepherd, Sydney, in to find her some new training motivation and as always the staff was very informative and welcoming. Made it a breeze for my girl to get over the nervousness she has still about meeting new people.

I used to love this PetSmart but Not Anymore. I would love going here for everything—pet supplies, vet, training, day camp/overnight stays. I can’t stand the cashiers, their service is the worst I’ve ever experience! They’re just so rude and I feel like they target me every time I shop there. If you think you can talk to a manager to share your experience, think again because they don’t care. I’m sad about this because I really like PetSmart :(

It looked like it had a good selection and they even had dogs up for adoption but I didnt really see any staff members and it was pretty busy.

My wife and dropped off our 2 miniature schnauzers. (Warning: everyone I saw has weird bad coloring in their hair.) We requested to leave the mohawk on the one alone. They cut it off. Cant believe they actually cut the dogs eyelashes. Very upsetting. Looks like it was rushed. A lot of missed long hair clumps that werent gone back over. Uneven sides were cut. They did do a good job on the dogs nails. Hence the two stars. But will not return for $49 each of well just cut whatever and leave the rest. Owners beware!
