My family has had home, car, life, and other insurance with this agency for years, and the staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Herbie Clark Insurance in Clinton is a great example of what the commercial said, Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.

I was impressed we didnt have any waiting time, but I know State Farm is not popular in Michigan either. We came for the auto insurance estimate of $44/month for 6 months for my Ford F-150. It is the best rate by far in the Rocky Top & Clinton areas.A very clean office and very kind staff.

One of the few State Farm agencies ive FIRED over the past 30 years.Staff, argumentive, manipulative. When I first went there to transfer policies in from out of State, the lady with which I spoke was manipulative and argumentive, repeatedly badgering me to change coverage after I told her I would not do so (Ive been insured with State farm for ~30 years and have insurance in dustry experience, I do not need advice...)REcently some idiot at Underwriting in Atlanta (State Farm underwriting are loathed by SF Agents) sent a vendor to come take photos (new homeowners policy, older house). The letter from Clarks stated that this was NOT a safety inspection, just taking pictures. I knew someone was lying because Ive DONE that kind of picture taking in an insurance setting.Vendor came, took plctures, left.Soon thereafter, Underwriting demanded I install hand rails else they might cancel the policyBelive me, SF Corporate WILL NOT cancel me....I have too good a record.Hand rails are not required on my house according to the Code Authority, Anderson CO. So I ignored Underwriting as I always do when they harass me.Some months later, I went to Clarks office to pay a bill and Kathy told me theyare about to cancel your homeowners. Why? I asked?BEcause you havent installed hand railsI told her that the legal AUTHORITY does not require them and asked, since Underwriting were taking it upon themselves to demand this, exactly what did they consider to be acceptable handrails. Since they were ignoring Building Code, I wanted to know just what they though acceptable handrails were. She became argumentive and made a couple arrogant retorts back to me, refused to answer my question and refused to offer to ask Underwriting. So I left, fired them and went to another AGency. I called State Farm Customer Service, they immediately elevated my complaint to the Corporate Level (they like me....VERY much...I always pay, I take high deductibles, they make money off me, and I once saved them 20% on a claim...) where someone in Exec Cust Service explained that the woman in Atlanta Underwriting that took this action had since left the company which kinda-sorta indicates they fired her. Occasionally Underwriters or Adjusters in the insurance world get on a mission to personally save the company all the money they can, and insurance does not work that way.I dont know why, but in 30 years with State Farm, I have had little but trouble with women that are State Farm Agents [ A previous SF Agent took it upon herself to change policy limits on an Auto policy wihtout my knowlege or consent.]or work in SF Agencies . Herbie Clarks employees, in my experience, are the worst Ive ever encountered. My advice is to pick another Agency besides this one.Thru all this, I didnt get the proverbial time of day from Mr Clark. In general, BEWARE of State Farm in this area, there are some SERIOUS problems. Go somewhere else for Homeowners, their rates are way high and an Agent from another Company suggested it is due to them having high catastrophe losses in this region.
