Dan handled everything perfectly. Hes a pro. He will take care of you. If youre looking to do some kayaking in the Cleveland area here are my recommendations:1. Talk to Dan. This isnt an a la carte situation where you pick a trip from a menu and book a time. Dan is extremely knowledgeable about where to put in and where to get picked up. Just talk about it with him and come up with a plan.2. Youre paying for the kayak for the day, so make sure you have a gameplan worked out with Dan at the start.3. Make sure you have plenty of water and maybe a little food to take with you for your trip.4. If you havent kayaked much, or at all, make sure you take a lesson. Its not difficult, but you need a modicum of instruction prior to getting out on the water. If its your first trip ever, maybe book a guided tour.5. Bring friends. Dan has lots of boats. It was a great day kayaking with Dan. I am in my early 60s. I have kayaked a few times over the years but still consider myself a neophyte. My wife has kayaked even less than I have, and she has not kayaked for several years. We wanted to go with someone that would make the day easy for us by taking care of all the prep, giving us some instructions and guiding us safely down the Cuyahoga River. We wanted to spend the majority of our time on the water. Dan had everything ready, he walked us through the prep and got us on the river quickly. Then we were able to spend our time enjoying the view, and listening to the history and stories that Dan shared with us along the way. We saw the beautiful river, some great birds, tons of amazing bridges, and several industrial plants along the way where loading a huge freighter and seeing the operations of the plants from the water were part of our adventure. I would highly recommend Dan and the trip. He is a quality operator and well worth the money. We will definitely look him up the next time we are in Cleveland.

Wonderful experience!! We learned so much and were 100% safe all of the time. So glad we took this lesson before venturing out on our own. Had some fun as well and it was such a beautiful setting. 10/10 would recommend the kayaking lesson from a true expert.

My friend and I (ladies in our 50s) took a kayaking lesson with Dan. The location was on a quiet lake in Richfield it was perfect. Dan is a great instructor hes very knowledgeable, thorough and patient. We feel 100% more confident in our ability to go out on our own. We highly recommend taking a lesson with Dan.

My friend and I had a really positive experience with our kayak adventure for the day. This is a small outfit company run by Dan, who is a super nice, accommodating guy who knows the river well. He needs at least two parties to book around the same time to make sure that its worth his time, but we were willing to pay the cash price to ensure that we got to go when we wanted to go. So, hes very flexible to leave when you want if you are the only party. He communicated with emails and texts very well, and now accepts Venmo thanks to our little SNAFU of losing a life jacket. We dont know how, but it must have fallen out of the back toward the end of the trip. He also is caring enough to make sure to ask that you have sunscreen and water with you as you travel.Dan met us near the ending point of the trip and drove us in his car to meet where our tandem kayak awaited us at the starting point. Our trip began somewhere in the industrial valley, where most Clevelanders have not travelled, so it was an interesting trip. It would be super cool to have a little map of the river along with the points of interest (plants that do something with tons of gravel?) along the way.Not knowing the Cuyahoga very well, we kept anticipating that we were almost to the flats (a total of 9 miles from the starting point), but the river kept curving back and forth....I feel like we were in front of Tower City three or four times. It is super neat to see downtown from this point, and it would be really neat to approach the city lights at night from a shorter distance. After two hours of pretty steady paddling, we ended the trip right in the flats, so if you time things well, you could hop out and have a nice bite to eat or have a little drink. You would just need to get back to your car or make sure that Dan knew that you were going to stay in the Flats for a little bit.I would definitely trust Dan again. It was a very nice day! I would really give 4.5 out of 5.

I went kayaking August 31, at Coe Lake. What a great way to enjoy a beautiful holiday weekend. I had four kids with me. Dan was great with giving a deal. He was eager to help us out, and did so without hesitation. The kids really enjoyed the activity. FYI, kids eight and under are free. I recommend this place and activity for fun with your family, friends, or a solo sanity break for yourself. It would also be a nice group outing for the workplace. Mary

A great morning in Cleveland doing a 9 mile paddle starting at Harvard Avenue, Old Brooklyn up the river to Wendy Park. Lots of wildlife action and river action. A must do way to see Cleveland! Dan did a great job with the planning. A wonderful relaxing interesting time.

River was beautiful! Went from nature to amazing views of Downtown Cleveland. The workers seemed experienced and we got going right away. They even cleaned the boats for us!

Dan is the man. By far, this was the best kayaking trip Ive ever experienced. Dan set me up with a unique trip through the steel yard up to the flats. The views were unlike anything I have ever seen in Cleveland. I was skeptical at first based on the random starting point, but the customer service Dan provided made up for it all.Im definitely coming back with more friends.

My son and I rented a Kayak at Coe Lake. We had a blast. Kayak was roomy and very stable. Kids 8 and under are free too! Highly recommended!

We had a blast! The only thing that might have made it better is if the river was a little higher (it was a bit low and slow in spots) but River Cruiser doesnt exactly control the weather. Parts of the trip were so serene we forgot we were anywhere close to the city. The guy that does this is very knowledgeable, checks in on you at potential problem points in the trip, and all around does a great job.

Ive gone kayaking with many different companys in the past and this is by far the best!! Dan was very professional and organized his equipment is also in very good condition. I would say what I loved the most about River Cruiser Kayaking is that your going down a river so it gives you that amazon feel and look. Had an outstanding guided tour on the Chagrin River from Gates Mills to Willoughby. Dan provided good transportation and kayaks. We got to see a lot of wildlife on the trip, including great blue herons, dozens of trout, and three bald eagles. Dan was informative and helpful, even getting out in the water to help us so we could stay in our kayaks and keep dry.Highly recommend the experience!

Had a great time kayaking on the Eerie Canal & Cuyahoga River yesterday -- really appreciate that this is one of the few kayaking outfits thats open in early spring & late fall. Dan was great getting us set up in the kayaks and finding just the right route for our experience level and the unusually high waters. Highly recommend.

Dan is very helpful in making this a fun, relaxing and learning experience. He kept us pointed in the right direction and he has an eagle eye for spotting wild life and scenic photo opportunities. We will definitely be coming back.

Dropped us off downstream and had to kayak UPSTREAM for six miles. Literally passed people going downstream. Embarrassing. Couldn’t enjoy the trip because we were constantly having to paddle our hearts out trying to go the opposite direction of the current. And the view? Industrial company for most of the trip (could have guessed, though. It’s Cleveland). Awful experience.

Spent a lovely afternoon on the Cuyahoga River, I recommend River cruiser Kayaking because they give you a lovely and fun experience. Rather than just a downtown flats kayaking trip we were able to go up river and experience more of the Cuyahoga. I cant believe theres such a place in the middle of Cleveland. Dan was nice, and helped us with everything we needed. Trip was horrible until the city came in sight, garbage was everywhere at the launch spot and in the river. Boats were very unclean but that was understandable. Went with my family and they agreed.

Super easy to set up. We requested a Sunday 9am adventure on a Thursday evening, Friday morning Dan called to go over details and send the waivers. Sunday, we met him where he wanted us to park our car: So, when youre done with the trip, youre right where you want to be, he said.He drove us to where we were to depart on the Cuyahoga River, put us in the kayak, the kayak in the water, and wished us a good trip. We were at Coe Lake in Berea. My almost 3yr old son has a small remote controlled boat. It got stuck just out of reach of the frequency, and in some seaweed. They let me borrow a kayak for 10 minutes to recover the boat. Thanks for your help, it was appreciated greatly!!

I only gave this three stars because the river was nice. Number one was the person who was running the kayaking trip was unhelpful and pretty much left us on the side of the river. Several phone calls were received while we were en route to the launch destination while telling the group safety instructions on the river. We were asked to help carry the kayaks back up a steep hill at the end of the trip. Very unorganized. A map would be helpful so we know the final destination because we did not know.

Dan was very prompt in his pick up time and gave us great direction on the water. The trip took us with drive time (to the drop off location) a total of 2.5 hours, 2 hours on the water. This is not guided, but we didnt feel the need to have a guide. We will be back!

Great experience kayaking with some friends who were visiting from India and had never kayaked before.Planned to go kayak on a whim after lunch, about an hour before the 1pm blue run. Dan accommodated us very well, even calling us an Uber to get us to the starting point from the area where we parked our car (since we ended up being late). Definitely would NOT recommend arriving tardy, but am mentioning because Dan handled the situation very well.While other guides may have been frustrated with our tardiness, Dan was patient and calm. He set us up with everything and prepared us for a beautiful trip down the Cuyahoga river with some scenic views of the Cleveland downtown area.

We were relative beginners to kayaking, but they got us up and running pretty quickly. Very friendly, very helpful and very conscious of safety. Highly recommended

There were four of us. We took two double kayaks. Trip was great. Dan provided help where it was necessary. I think, well take it again.

Spent a great day on the river. Easy to arrange. Scenery and birds were rewarding. The flats were suprisingly peacefully on Sunday afternoon. Passed a huge frieghter that was unloading coal. Never thought Cleveland was a good town for kayaking but now I know!

At the time, the 5 google reviews seemed very promising. today was my birthday and kayaking seemed like a fun thing to do with my boyfriend. So we drove 40 mins to this place (specifically a sketchy parking lot in Cleveland) to meet up with Dan. He was very nice and drove us to where we needed to go to start the journey and helped us into the kayaks. He did however give us very poor directions on how to navigate our way through this journey. My boyfriend and I had been kayaking before but never without a guide. We assumed he would be coming with us but, nope. After an hour into the kayak adventure, things went from fun to terrible. My boyfriend nearly almost died. His kayak had flipped over and he almost drowned trying to get it out of the water. Dan did not do a great job of trying to save him because he took a good 40 mins to even get close to him. AND THEN when we got back to our car, Dave had the nerve to charge us more money for a kayak skirt that got lost in the process of my boyfriend almost drowning. I am just extremely disappointed. Dont go kayaking with River Cruiser Kayaking unless you are experienced!

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Tossed my girlfriend and I into the water alone with horrible directions, knowing that we were both completely at a novice level. The current swept me against a dam of logs where I capsized, and sucked me under a very strong down force created on the underside of the logs and debris. I fought against the water filled kayak as I was wedged between the kayak and the dam, for 45 minutes before he was anywhere near me to lend a hand. I managed tor retrieve my wallet, keys, and phone from the kayak after the incident, only for the man to have the audacity to ask for more money due to me losing a skirt, knowing full well I could have drowned. He acted as if it was no big deal, yet he could barely stand in the strength of the current for a few minutes, let alone move the kayak among the strength of the current and debris as I did. This man scammed two young adults, and was very unprofessional. I REPEAT. THIS MAN ALLOWED TWO 20 YEAR OLDS WHO TRAVELED OVER AN HOUR TO DO THIS, WITH LITTLE TO NO EXPERIENCE ON THE WATER FOR OVER 2 HOURS AND NO SUPERVISION, AND WHEN CONTACTED FOR AN EMERGENCY, TOOK NEARLY AN HOUR TO ARRIVE. DO NOT GIVE THIS MAN YOUR MONEY, AND NEVER ALLOW A NOVICE IN THE WATER WITHOUT A GUIDE.

This was a great kayaking experience for me and my two friends, all of whom have previous kayaking experience. It was a great 2 hours with great views and a good workout and Dan was very helpful and trusting of our abilities
