I love the way they rescue animals that need it! I just wish they were a no kill shelter.. But I do understand.
Recently adopted Haze from City Dogs - Cleveland. We received excellent help and advice finding a dog. The volunteers do amazing work keeping the facility clean.Adoption was a very straight forward process much to my surprise. It is very unfortunate people do not adopt as there are so many loving dogs that need a home.Staff matched us with the perfect dog for our pace of life and provided excellent documentation on everything we needed.
Had to take two lost dogs there. Everyone was friendly and caring. Dogs were being walked, played with and exercised. They have a large outdoor play area for the pups to play. Unfortunately most of the dogs I saw were pitbull types. Please dont breed/buy- adopt!!
We got our precious boy from City Dogs almost a year ago! He was injured at that time, and we had to end up going through a foster group to get him, but the City Dogs staff was so helpful and let us come to see him whenever we wanted to during the process. They made sure that he was as comfortable as possible while he went through the foster process and as he transitioned to our home.
Amazing volunteers! They devote themselves to ensure these dogs have the best chance at a forever home!
4 years later I finally found my good boy. Somehow he ended up 3 states away. I live in TN and they were very helpful in me and Sam reuniting and even offered to stay later for me to get here. I love this place.
Both my girlfriend and I have submitted an application and have never been responded too. We have been looking at dogs from multiple other facilities and found the perfect match for our home! So it all worked out but am wondering how they can find these poor dogs homes when they make no attempt to respond to inquiries.
Very clean facilities. Staff is very friendly and caring. A definite 5🌟
My wife and I saw a few dogs on Petango. This is where you can find their adoptable dogs online. We drove an hour to get to the shelter from our house and we were amazed. This is definitely one of the cleanest and most well run shelters we have been to. The staff there are excellent to deal with. They go out of their way to try and make sure the dog that you may be interested in is actually a good fit for you. Overall we had an excellent experience while adopting our new dog. And we highly recommend, anyone interested in adopting a dog, give them a look.
I went 2 days in a row and Saturday was crazy busy, but all the staff at the front desk and volunteers were pleasant and very helpful. Not only is the the facility very nicely equipped with keeping the kennels clean, but they were on top of any accidents. There were numerous yards that had the articicial turf to allow dogs exert some energy. Very nice place! Im not sure where Ill get my rescue, but CITY DOGS Cleveland has done a great job, and Ill be back! Even if I dont get my rescue from here, I might even come back as a volunteer!
This place was a nice resource/link to more affordable options than your traditional vet and/or flea meds. The staff and volunteers for pretty friendly. They had impounded my dog and called me first thing in the morning before they were even open to tell me all what I needed to bring and do to get my dog out... the facility looked very large, there was plenty of space on the outside to walk dogs or for the volunteers to walk dogs, and it was only $40 to get my dog out! Theres also links to add them as a friend on your social media and theyre constantly posting pictures of very adorable pit bulls as well as other types of dogs that need homes.
Great shelter, very knowledgeable staff. Great dogs too. A good place to find a good companion
DONT USE THIS SHELTER TO ADOPT!!! We have tried meet and greet 4 different dogs for over 3 months with limited if no contact from City Dogs. As a family we have contacted them over 30 times through phone messages, online inquires, and direct emails. Understand the pandemic, we knew there would be somewhat of a delay in contact but not 3 months worth. Our disabled father has been left saddened and disappointed after not hearing back or getting a companion to temper his illness. City Dogs needs to take a hard look at their managerial staff and their adoption routines.
I have been attempting to visit so I can adopt one of their puppies and give it a life. They do not contact you and attempt to set up any meeting times. I have emailed numerous times and they just refuse to do their job. I would much rather adopt but it seems like this will not be happening. They need to get their priorities straight.
Awesome people thanks for all your support
City Dogs kennel is very nice, super clean and very friendly and helpful ppl work there.
It is a great place to find a new dog
I had the worst experience on the phone with their meet and greet coordinator. Her name is Connie and she was the absolute worst and so rude. She hadnt responded to my application and I called the office twice. She claimed that I had red flags because I really wanted a dog????? I really wanted to adopt from City Dogs and this experience really made me want to stop the process and move on to another shelter that is actually nice and want their dogs to go to a real home.
Perfect, great non profit organization
Wonderful people. There is a case worker for each dog, that helps with the viewing and history of the dog, and tips on transition to new home. Also available for follow up assistance after you bring dog home. Find my perfect Fur baby, and everything went fabulous with adoption.
Wasn’t aware the appointment would be outside but the staff (Izzy) was great! Very informative and helpful.
Keep up the amazing work!
What can I say,love these guys🥰
We got are princess twiggy on july 8th t2018 she has grown up so fast now she is 3 years old and we still love thank you to city dogs and thank you to the volunteers that helped twiggy out before we got her and happy new year from the slagle family
I dont see why you have to make an appointment to see the animals
Outstanding place. I would recommend anyone looking for a new dog to go here.
Very helpful volunteer staff.
The support staff there does the best they can, but management chooses to listen to volunteers over trained staff. I would choose to adopt from other shelters that make sure animals are safe to handle before adopting out.
I adopted my wonderful new dog there today. The volunteers are great and the facility is beautiful compared to where they used to be.
Contacted office for advice and guidance regarding neighbors small dog barking continuously throughout the day. Plus, much to frustration, dog droppings were found in the grass in front; mind you I have NO DOG! This office is neither addressing barking issues nor animal waste issues; so I guess Im on my own. Awesome.
Anyone who helps animals are ok with me
One of the best organizations in this city. Excellent support in the adoption process. Thorough assessment of family and dogs needs. Highly recommend.
No complaints.
Get all my puppers from here
I dealt with Caitlin and while I was impatient she truly had the best interest of a very sweet pooch in mind. Im just hopeful that another dog may be available. If every volunteer is as loving and caring as her then rest assured, these poochies are loved, cared for and awaiting the best possible match.
They took my dog, 2 doors from my house and bold face lied and said they came to my house and even left paperwork on my door. There was no paperwork and no one came to my door!! I have 2 other dogs that would have barked plus my front door and front curtains were open. Now dont you think I or my other fur babies would have heard them? Oh but he described my house 2 a tee, plum down to what vehicles were parked in my driveway. They are all about the mighty dollar!! 6 people told me they saw the man throw my dog in the back of his van. When I picked him up the next morning he had a severe lip on his front paw that lasted way over a week!! I DO NOT CARE FOR THIS PLACE!!
I met my forever friend at City Dogs. Look at my Princess Piper! This is a wonderful place to adopt pets, especially pitbulls. All of the dogs need homes, so stop here before any other place in the area. For $61, the 4-legged companions are chipped, spayed/neutered, flea/tick removal, and come with 30 day trial insurance and coupons! The cages in the kennel are small and the dogs are in a high stress (loud barking, stale air) environment, so I was happy to take Piper from this environment. They do offer daily play groups daily for dogs, and each dog is walked at least once per day. If dogs need treatment it is provided during their stay.It is somewhat hard to find—I’m not from Cleveland. It’s literally across the street from a huge power plant along a rocky road. Go left from the Tremont Lofts then turn right after that grassy part before you pass the gaseous oxygen “tank.”The staff has treats available at the desk to give to dogs in the kennel, and they QUICKLY arrange you with a pet counselor to learn more about the dog and how compatible potential dogs will be with your lifestyle. There are two play parks to test the right fit for dogs.Kelsey is one of the pet counselors, and she is AMAZING! She made my experience wonderful—she brought out the dogs I requested, gave impeccable advice, took me on short walks around the area with the dogs, and recommended a dog that would be a good fit for me. I fell in love with Piper at first sight! I plan to put her on a raw diet to keep her healthy and that coat SHININ’ SHININ’ SHININ’ SHININ’!If you are looking for a dog, need a place to volunteer, or have extra dog food and toys to give, COME HERE! THIS IS WORTH THE DRIVE AND GAS EVEN IN THIS ECONOMY!!!Do not waste your time trying to go to some shady adoption center with inattentive staff—word to the wise—if they treat potential adopters like trash I cannot imagine how they treat their pets. Do not support disorganized adoption centers—it’s a disservice to you and the dogs. The people here at City Dogs are passionate about what they do. I met another pet counselor, whose name I do not recall, but she is slim built with long black hair—she removed any lingering stigma around pit bulls I had. She is a wonderful dog foster mom! They even take family photos the day you adopt a dog!!!! Check out their Facebook page, and some dogs are listed on Petango. I am sure you will meet the pet of your dreams here like I did! Wonderful 10 star experience! I will be back to donate and will always recommend this adoption center!
The new building is gorgeous. The staff and volunteers do a great job. I love that on the weekends theres a group of volunteers that take the dogs running. I have never heard of a kennel doing that before.
I had just put my dog down an wanted a new pup . I went to City Dogs and was really impressed with their facility and volunteers. COnsidering this is a dog shelter the place was extremely clean. The Pods did smell like dog but they were very clean. The volunteers helped me find the right dog for my needs. I adopted her and will bring her home on Tuesday.. Cant Wait.. Hope everything works out. I was very impressed with City Dogs
Ive never been so pleased with a dog shelter in my entire life! The staff are extremely nice, they direct you where you need to go, they give you any information you need about adoptable dogs, prices, and anyone you need to meet with when it comes to meeting a dog. Ive been planning to get a dog myself to surprise my kids. If I go anywhere I will definitely come here
City Dogs has taken the process of pet adoption to new heights of bureaucracy, I just hope their adoption success metrics justify all the paperwork and B.S. required. APL, County Shelter, and ASPCA Shelter in Parma are much more adopter friendly, but a little more expensive.
Ive heard wonderful things about this kennel .n people who care for their guest .... I wish to adopt from there ... Hoping they open soon to the public ... BigHug vets n workers n volunteers. GB✝️
I met with Caitlin to meet 2 dogs. She was very polite and knowledgeable. This building itself from what I saw was very clean and organized. Space outside for the dogs to play and run. The limited number of parking spaces was the only problem I saw.
Fantastic workers here. Very nice easy to work with
We adopted Tucker this spring with the help of Emily. She patiently waited for us to find our perfect fit!
I was looking into a 7 yr old pit there. I live in a rural community on an acre of land and two other dogs. We have small children who visit often and asked how he was with kids and felines...never got a response about that. After doing their questionnaire, I was told that a person would contact me about the dog I inquired about. I do have 1 unaltered male, who is still in the pup stage and made sure I listed that on the questionnaire and the preliminary email I sent when I saw this particular dog. And way before we even proceeded to talk about meeting the dog and setting up times (I have the emails to prove it). Today, I was told that he will not be placed in a home with another unaltered dog. On his bio it stated he gets along well with the other dogs, most of them if you look are UNALTERED. Yet, my only question was never answered and that is “is he good with kids and cats.” I found the whole situation to be “not right.” I have adopted animals before from shelters before and typically senior ones so they can live their best rest of their life. No wonder they have so many dogs. I feel they are not being very forthcoming and I am not good with that. I hope the dog I inquired about has a happy life in a furever home.
They are so great! my senior pup was lost and turned over to them, & they was so amazing with him, & working with me to get my baby home. They do such great work there!
They finally built a new state of the art kennel. It was long overdue.
I found a dog & asked for it to be scanned for a chip & was told that they was sending someone out to check& i said I wanted to keep the dog if it didnt have a chip & was told they wouldnt take it because if I had him 5days it was now my dog & the man showed up & said he didnt have a scanner& he had to take him & they never called me back & I called they wanted me to pay them for a dog that I was told was mine since I had him 5 days.
My wife and I went to adopt a dog we saw online. We really fell in love with the dog and checked his availability and he was good to go. We got 75% thru the paper work and when someone went in the back to get him. Instead they came out with no dog apologizing saying the dog was not available for adoption after all. We had the license the free gift bag and all the paper work almost filled out when they decided to tell us we could not take the dog home! My wife and I live across town and really just wanted to get our new friend home to adjust. I thought it to be unacceptable that we spent 2 hours there counted on taking a dog home and they make such a huge oversight. That poor dog has been there for months by the way. Unbelievable very disappointing is it any wonder why they have soooo many dogs. Oh well explain to the dog why he still there.
I went to City Dogs to rent a humane trap for the doggone groundhogs which have borrowed underneath my front and back porches. The trap was only $20 to rent, but apparently I am not a good trapper - its been about 4 weeks and I havent caught anything even though Ive spotted 4 adult groundhogs and at least one little baby. Theyve eaten all the flowers, all the berries and borrowed underneath several homes. While at City Dogs I also did get to see some beautiful dogs that I believe can be adopted. A young man also came in to check on and visit the stray he had found a couple of days prior and expressed interest in adopting. The staff were very nice and helpful. Theres also a nice hilly field around the building and I observed some employees and I think a volunteer walk the dogs showing the animals lots of love.
If it wasnt for these people I wouldnt have my best friend Gabby. She has been with me through thick and thin. I couldnt imagine life without her.
Come get your new best friend!
The place is hard to find, and the front desk women that are there come off as some what rude but not overly problematic, however the woman I believe her name is Stephanie, that brings the dogs out of the kennel for you to meet and is there after hours is super nice, professional and cares deeply about every dog there, she is very informative on the backgrounds of the pups and is patient in helping you find the right one, I absolutely love my dog I got from there and I owe it to her because she took the time to ensure I was making a right decision and was extremely diligent and helpful
Many friendly dogs are available for adoption. Dogs come with complete health exams, license, neuter/spay already done. This is the best shelter to find a great dog for your family.
Come get your next best friend!
Got my fur baby today from them the process was smooth and within a few days I had him home 😍. The staff was knowledgeable and respectful and over all it was a good experience. I love the new edition to our family hes such an amazing dog thank you guys again so much 💗❤️❤️
We have come here very often if not adopting just to visit or bringing a friend to adopt... these dogs are in need and the staff goes so above and beyond.... check out their amazing new location you will not be disappointed
There was a wild dog outside my grandmothers house and I called them to get the dog, the got the dog within 30 minutes of my call
Love dogs
The most caring people, they really love theses dogs and want to find a good forever home!
Simply calling this place to inquire if your lost pet has been turned in, is not enough. you must go there and look for yourself. A friend recently lost their pet and had been calling this place and was told “no he’s not here” multiple times until someone else recognized the dog and contacted the owner letting him know they think they saw his dog there. All to find out the dog was turned in a week prior. Incredibly disappointing that someone there isn’t willing to get up and walk to look to see if your dog may have been turned in.
Thank you for helping me get my dog back hes name is tikos were very happy and so is he Thanks izzy
They take care of the animals and try to get to know them to relay that info to you. Have two dogs from them.***Uodate****I feel like when you adopt, they are happy and seem friendly. When you return, they seem bland and just not interested in you. Just my opinion. I love the place, but listen, you put the rules in, at the time there was no info for specific dogs, so the only way people know is if they bring them home and experiment themselves. You have to understand not every dog is compatible with every person or animal. Sometimes things happen and they cant keep the dog. But the we dont judge people for returning a dog seems kinda far from the truth. Its hard enough giving up a dog. It really is.
Nice place and dogs are well cared for. Usually have a full house of dogs to be adopted.
Best place to pick up dog tag fast no wait time
The new kennel, very nice but my baby wasnt there.
Great work saving and placing wonderful dogs.
They chase owned animals instead of thw ones that have no family or abandoned
I love this place and all the they do for the dogs and community
Just adopted my beautiful thunder today he’s everything we wanted 😍💯 they’re newer facility is awesome 10000% upgrade from where they were at before!!! Wonderful staff
All the people who work there try their best to make sure the dogs are safe, healthy, and happy. To top it of most of the people who work their dont even make money off of it, they do it to help the dogs. When Im old enough I want to volunteer their myself
Great bunch of people. Well worth my travel to come home with such a special addition to my family
Very pilite on the phone.. didnt feel rushed.
I love the animals and will be back once I get my apartment 😁🥰😍😍😍😍😍🤗🤗🤗
They make you fix your own dog before they let you adopt one of their dogs. Its not your job to control the popultion your job is to rehome to good pet owners your whole purpose is condescending and screw you for telling me what I have to do in order to give other pets a good home. FYI i have 2 rescue Pits that are nothing but playfull its a shame your business is greedy and controlling no wonder you have so many pets without homes, hope your okay with going to bed knowing how many pets you could give to good homes but instead will have to wait in line to be put down.
They arent answering the main line do to covid 19
I want one lol nice place full of worthy pups
Nice, proffessional, and hard working staff. Thanks for keeping my dog safe.
They dont have the time or resources to do any behavioral tests with the dogs. We adopted one and it ended up going after our family members so we called them and they said to bring the dog back but wouldnt give us a refund even though the dog should have never been adopted out in the first place. The staff was very nice just they are very underfunded by the city and the shelter is dingy and mice were running all over the place.
It was ok, I was told the price was double, of what I was told the night before, but really I think they know you have no choice. Most of the employees were fantastic, except for the person in charge, that was rude, I hope it was just a bad day, and wonder if she was always rude, I gave it a 3 star, because my dogs were well taken care of are of, and the rest of the workers were great
Went in looking for a small dog with no luck but still enjoyed walking thru all the rooms looking at all the available pups. It gets kinda loud when walking thru cause the dogs all get so excited but if your an animal person it should be no problem. Dont forget your ID cause you have to have it to walk thru.
They caught my dog after he ran away. The dog was microchipped. I called and they said he wasnt there. I went down there anyways and there he was. They never checked for his chip and had identified him as the wrong breed. The lady at the front desk is rude, lazy, and unhelpful. They charged way too much money to get him back and the place smelled. The only reason they get two stars is because my dog had food and they had clipped his nails. Mostly just didnt like the lady at the front desk.
The staff were friendly and helpful. My daughter got a great furbaby.I would highly recommend them.
Good employees, large parking lot, and cheap dogs to adopt, please come and adopt a smart friendly dog
