Worse interaction ever…. Rude staff my wife asked to see other dogs the girls response was o no none of our dogs get along with kids or other dogs…Horrible set up for meet and greet wouldn’t let my dog near the other dog …. I will never go to this one again absolutely awful customer careOn the description for clementine it shows her as interacting with other dogs the lady lied and said she’s never interacted with any dogsThe delay from how long the volunteer wanted to keep both dogs separated mine and the one we wanted to adopt was to long by the time the other dogs from the shelter started barking my dog was barking at them instead of getting to meet the new one, the lady immediately said o no this kind of energy isn’t good at all this won’t proceeding to tell the other volunteer to get the dog out …..My dog would have been great with her if she only had let them actually meet not kept them apart for ten min ….Only one staff member was good and helpful which is the girl that was taking our information down the rest of the interaction was terrible ….

Came to see if we could get a new addition to the family. Hanna was our adoption specialist. Hanna was amazing and educated us on the different cats and dogs. Really loved how she informed us who would be and wouldnt be a good fit. Sadly there were no perfect fits for us this time. Cant thank Hanna enough for the time that she took in the education she gave. Also excited about renovations and the new building.

Follow-up to owners (name?) response. You dont get it. Your decision to close the veterinarian care part is creating an environment where the dog owner will have to surrender dog to you, which in turn proves to donors there is a need for your facility. Would you be so kind as to provide me with donor contact information for new shelter. Thank you.PS I was able to provide medical care for my dog. Fortunately for us she remains with me.

Everyone was friendly and the gift shop was pretty cool. They offer a lot of services that are such an asset to our community... Helping pets to be available and affordable to more people... Presently my financial situation changed. I am looking for a less expensive provider for my dog. I called them, and spoke to an unfriendly man. I explained my situation to him and he told me my options were to surrender my dog to them. They would do a medical exam and let me know if they would accept her. The other was to go to St. Pete for lower cost medical service. I am not clear where he was sending me but it was not one of their facilities. I thought what he said was bizarre at all levels: the Humane Society is known for helping to prevent animal homelessness. In the past this consisted of shelter, surrender and lower cost medical care. This approach makes sense at all levels. I went to their website and found out they had indeed closed the hospital part of their services. See Below:The Pet Hospital of Pinellas is closed to the public effective February 19, 2021. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and continued support of the Humane Society of Pinellas and our mission. They are now in the process of building a $3 million adoption shelter on-site. I hate to say it but based on my experience they are creating a demand for this service in out community. Please donate to organizations that have the interest of our animals in mind. Please let me know if you know of a lower medical cost practice in Clearwater.

My wife and I have adopted two dogs from the Humane Society of Pinellas over the past 20 years. The staff were friendly and very helpful each time. I appreciate the efforts they make to get the animals adjusted to living in a home. We brought our other dog and let them play together in the yard to make sure they would get along. The adoption rates are very low as well. I couldnt be happier with my experiences, and the two lifelong friends I adopted.

We adopted our chihuahua Sonny (named Brownie while at HSP) on 1/20/18. Our experience with HSP was so great that when we decided to add another fur-baby to our home we knew we would adopt from HSP again! We adopted Jasmine, a lab mix on 4/2/19, and again had a great adoption experience at HSP. I have worked with and visited many shelters/ rescues while living in PA and FL and by far Humane Society of Pinellas is the BEST shelter 💜🐶🐱🐰

Believing your facility down the road from your adoption center to be an affordable or low cost clinic, I brought my two 60+lb mixed breed dogs for their yearly rabies shots in late October 2020.We had an 8am appointment so we could have the attention of the staff while the clinic would be less crowded. I brought in my one dog, and asked the staff that they hold her while I went out to the car to get my other dog. I advised the receptionist that my dog Daisy in the car gets overheated very easily and that I had to get her. She would not take the leash of my dog already in the clinic telling me I could not get my other dog until the medical staff came out. It was a warm day, even at 8am, and I was concerned withDaisys breathing and overheating in my car. Finally, in desperation, I had to let go of Oonas leash to go get Daisy. I came back in and a young inexperienced veterinarian came back out with her staff. She took Daisy out of the exam room into the back to give her her rabies shot and came back out telling me to muzzle Daisy. Daisy is 10+ years old, and is gentle with dogs, cats, babies, children, and adults. I couldnt understand what the issue was , but did as I was asked. The vet came back out telling me she could not get Daisy to cooperate and handed Daisy back to me. I said Daisy was probably reacting to the vets fear of large dogs. I removed the muzzle, and Daisy stood quietly while she received the shot. The very same fiasco was repeated with Oona. The vet then told me she could give me some advice on dealing with aggressive dogs! Say what!!!!She also told me she couldnt perform a physical exam on them because they wouldnt cooperate, yet when I asked her what the $200.00 bill was for, she told me she charged me for physical exams on both dogs because she had listened to Daisys heart. At this point I felt like calling the police as I was clearly being robbed, but decided to bring myself and my furbabies home away from what I can only call a most unpleasant situation.Would I like a refund on two non-performed physical exams? You bet I would, and I hope I do not have to bring this matter to the attention of Small Claims Court.Could I ever refer this place to anyone? Sadly, I cannot.

Everyone there is super nice, however I just adopted two kittens there who are brothers. Was only told about their ear mites and they are otherwise very healthy however I got ringworm all over my body from them including on my face. I understand that cats are susceptible to ringworms, but if they already tested positive for them the first time (Which I was unaware of) I would think they would be more thorough with the examination the second time before telling me they are all good. This could have been prevented and I’m very upset. I know this is part of having an animal and they will have problems, but this is something they had prior to me receiving them.

UPDATE: I have received a phone call from the Director of the Society. We had a good long discussion, and many of my fears and concerns have been brought to his attention and will be worked on so that this situation will hopefully never happen again. He was very earnest and helpful, and I look forward to the changes thatll hopefully bring good to animal, employee, and patron in the future. I wish the best of luck to them!.....(Old) The passive aggressive and completely judgmental attitude from the staff towards a grieving pet owner who had just lost her first and only cat of 15 years was absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. I brought my friend in to adopt a new baby after recently losing her own, to help her with the passing, and while the initial adoption was only a bit rocky, what happened after was just awful. They had no information on this cat, what her temperament was, or if she was good with other animals, and she was kenneled all by herself when we met her. Initially she bonded wonderfully with my friend, even though the lack of information was concerning. But when brought home and of course being seperated from the other roommates pets (a cat and dog) this cat became absolutely hostile when she heard the other curious pets on the other side of the door. She charged at them, trying to attack them through the door, attacked my friend, biting her repeatedly and even drawing blood, and it was just...too much for my grieving friend. Not wanting to stress the cat out more, she guiltily returned her, didnt ask for any of the money back, didnt tell them the cat had bitten and drawn blood so she could still find a good home, and tried to give the gift theyd given her back as well. The staff...they were awful to her, treated her like she was the nastiest thing on earth, and barely helped her. They made a heartbroken cat mom cry. The cat was adopted less than a week later... I know this because my friend checked the listings every day, wanting to make sure she got adopted to a good home and willing to find a home for her if she had to because she felt so awful returning her. I used to refer to this place to everyone...I have never been so regretful to say I did so as I am now. Shame on these judgmental unprofessional jerks! Shame on them for hurting someone already hurting enough, for thinking themselves so much better that they can treat others like this! That is NOT how you treat someone who lost the one creature they lived for, for 15 years mind you, and who did the right thing after making the mistake of not being ready to handle a hostile animal!

One of the volunteers, older lady with short dark hair is one of the rudest people I have ever met. She is there almost everytime my daughter and I go. She is rude EVERYTIME. I have been a donator and customer for over 20 years at this exact facility and this behavior has turned me off almost all together. I was referred to the Humane Society buy an animal ER in Palm Harbor. I just found a pregnant female dog, approximately 40 lb on the side of the highway. After being told the ER could not do anything, they directed me to the Humane Societies number and told me that they have dispatch to come and retrieve animals found in the field. My main concern was euthanasia. She is an extremely sweet and loving little girl and is scared and just wants to have her babies. Skeptical, I called Humane Society to see if dispatch could come and assist. To my surprise it went straight to voicemail. Decided to come read comments and I find out that their customer service is horrible and their care for the animals is minimal at best. So thanks a lot to all of those groups out there that give any shred of a care about a poor animal in the middle of the night. Truly is there anyone out there willing to help an animal in the middle of the night without getting paid an arm and a leg! Seems nowadays the only way someone can care about another soul is if theres a price tag on it

Me and my fiance was interested in getting 2 pets a rabbit and a dog. We have been looking and seen that they had both so agreed to start with a rabbit and once the rabbit is comfortable to get a good a dog. I called made a appt to come see the rabbit, then I was called that same night and was told that they gave the rabbit to someone else. This really bummed us out and I have never seen a place make a appt then not hold to it, I felt like that was rude to not even call and see if I wanted to try to come sooner since someone else was also interested. I am from out of state and I have rescued animals in the past so this is not our first time. So we started looking back online and saw a beautiful dog we felt would be perfect. We applied and I got a call to come and see her, was told she does not do good with other animals but great with kids. That is perfectly fine, if we got a great animal we wouldnt get another if she doesnt do good with other pets. I informed my kids and we was getting ready for the appt. My kids was so excited, then I get a call back saying that she would not be a good fit for our home because of my kids, when I was just told she does ok with them. My kids are very calm and well behaved, they know when to leave animals alone because we have family with rescue animals so they are use to leaving them alone when they are not interested. So to be called back and be told no after being told she does great with kids seemed very unprofessional. Seems like every time I make a appt to see a animal I get a call saying we cant. I had to break it to my kids and they busted out crying because they was so happy to go meet the dog. After this experience I will not try to rescue a animal through this company again which is sad because these animals need a good home. We will be going to a pet store where I know for sure they can get a pet, it is just sad that we had such a bad experience trying to rescue a animal. I hope others have better experiences than me and my children have.

Also the humane society who sold us the cat put in the animal review report that she passed her skin scraping and wood lamp test. But on the top it says she needs convenia ? Do not recommend .

If I send the wild cat to you for sterilization, do you have to pay? Because there are 5of them, do you have to raise them at home after the operation? Or can i put it back directly to the original place? Because the house we rent does not allow cats.

Asked about a dog, and was told she was AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION in an e-mail from their shelter.. Surprise, when I get there shes on hold, even though when I called they said they dont take any holds. Then Im told I can only get on a second hold on her if I do a meet and greet - basically get my hopes up for a dog that I probably wouldnt get. You gotta put the time in she said, well I wish someone put the same time into their responses to me so I didnt waste my time. Thanks Lisa!

Best place to adopt by far. Great staff who care about and love animals and people. Extremely friendly staff unlike other shelters like SPCA.

Three times in one visit, by all different adoption counselors, I was impolitely asked to leave the area because another group/person/couple was interested in adopting an animal in the same area as myself; once, the animal I had been holding and bonding with for the last 20 minutes. I never said I was not going to be adopting that day, so I was essentially dismissed each time in favor of the other group.I understand the need to prioritize those serious about potentially adopting - however, you alienated someone, who is not only a fur-parent to three adopted animals (who all have lived long happy lives), but someone who would have been serious about one or two animals, instead of vaguely interested in the idea presented in the many.I respect other adoptive parents and their needs - but, if your team insists on privacy in the process, I encourage moving the potential adopters and the animals (if movable) in question to a quiet office; where all pertinent information can be conveyed and the bonding can continue. Rather than interrupting any other bonding moments in progress that could have become adoptive leads.I fell in love with a cat and one kitten today, and my quiet consideration was dismissed as unworthy.

I’ve adopted two pets from the Humane Society of Pinellas. Both experiences were overwhelmingly positive. I adopted wonderfully healthy and loving pets. The staff was kind, professional and thorough and I could not be more pleased with the facility and care my pup and my cat received while there. My pup (adopted 16 months ago) was a 13 year old lab mix and they spoiled him rotten while he was with them. My cat is a 4 year old tortie (adopted on Black Friday) who was in a beautiful enclosure with other cats being well cared for and socialized. They both came home and adjusted immediately! Thank you HSPC! You’re the best!

I am always making monthly donations. I love that it is a no kill shelter and that they help people in need who need supplies for their animals.I adopted my first dog, a wonder little chihuahua. I had a very pleasant and helpful experience.I dont know where all the bad reviews are coming from? When I am ready to adopt another animal, I plan to do so from here again.

First off, you can see and feel that the employees as well as volunteers truly believe in their work! We admire and appreciate their survives to the animals as well as the community! The facility is well maintained, with a wonderful flow for the animals. Our adoption process was thorough yet easy! We adopted a 10 month old male kitten, surrendered by his previous family. He was neutered with current shots and flea medication. So moms, dads, sweet couples looking for a new pet to love please, give Pinellas County’s Humain Society a visit! Our adoption with cat carrier was $40, plus you receive a check up for your pet at their vet for the first follow up visit free. And your new fur pet is microchipped as well!We are so happy that we adopted! The Moore Family😻

We thought everything was great until we got our new dog home. On day 2 we noticed spaghetti type substance in her stool. So I inspected a bit closer, it was worms! We then call them the next day to see what they would do. They done just like most others here, denied it was their fault! We have had dogs for at the least the last 15 years and not 1 time have we had this issue!!! Now we are spending even more money to deworm not just her but our 2 other dogs as well!

I adopted a cat, that has turned out to be a puuurfect fit for me! She had a long 3+ month stay at the shelter before I came along. The staff and facilities are obviously doing a great job because this 3 yr 7 no old kitty has no social anxiety whatsoever. Keep up the humane work people. You are appreciated!

Horrible customer service the older lady with the dark short hair is a miserable employee!! The minute I walk through the door with my dog holding him she asks if I have a leash and tells me its the law😂😂!!! The older gentleman and younger girl with light short hair were GREAT and very helpful!!! I dont understand how that lady even has a job with the way she communicates with potential adopters.
