Dr. Welpton is really just a great guy. Hes so attentive & personal with each of his patients. He knows alot of various tricks & tips that have proven to be rather helpful in my day to day activities. Hes really the best!!

Ive been seeing Dr. Welpton for many years now, and I have to say that as reluctant as I was to put my trust in another doctor after my experiences with those prior to him- Im now so grateful for God putting him in my path and cannot imagine where Id be had he not. I was referred to Dr. Welpton by my wife . She had been seeing him for a year or so already. I saw the change in her and how he helped her cope and understand her challenges. I was skeptical as I usually am with doctors, but he was so warm and welcome. My wife warned me I would tear up or cry while venting to him as he is such a good listener. She was right . Dr. Doug has been the best doctor I ever had he listens during your session he does not rush you and push you out the door. Its not all about medication with him at all he cares a lot about whats going on in your life and always wants to know whats going on. Hes restored my life in my relationship and everything is so easy now in my life due to the way he is treated me. Doctor Welpton could not have come in my life at the more perfect time or should I say I came into his office. An old friend of mine was seeing him she told me all about what a great Doctor he was. I was in need of a good doctor, everywhere I turned it was a dead end. I knew their diagnosis were not what I was feeling. I tried to get an appointment right away but he was extremely busy, I sat in the wiring room reading a book waiting on my old friend when they came out she and Dr. Welpton saw the tears in my eyes the book was describing my situation i had been living for over a decade. I had no clue I was reading his book. He politely signed the book and asked if he could squeeze me in would that be ok and within a few days he did. I had been feeling terrible. On paxil for 15 years and needed to make a change. Called this guy and he texted me back asking me to text him. I told him I couldnt sleep, my depression was the worst it had ever been, and manic episodes were happening daily. Do you know how hard it is for someone with depression to even ask for help? He replied with a Im sorry I cant help you. No explanation, nothing. This made my depression even worse and made me feel even more helpless. Shame on you. I got the help I needed elsewhere and they couldnt believe a doctor would say that to someone in need.

Dr. Welpton is the most sincere, honest, and caring Dr. He truly cares about you, and your health and well being. I could not make it to my appointment on time because my wife and I are going through a separation, and my wife could not make it to the Dr., because she was late and I found out I could not be around her for more than 2 minutes. Dr. Welpton sat on the phone with me for almost an hour listening to me pour my issues out, and he just listens to you. The Lyft driver I had asked me if I was on the phone with a real doctor that whole time, and I said yes. She was so surprised and said she was going to write him a review. Just WOW!! Dr. Doug has been a positive force in my life for many years now, and he continues to inspire me to not give up on improving my life and relationships.I began seeing Dr. Doug 7-8 years ago, and a year or so into my appointments, my financial situation took a dive south. I told Dr. Doug about my financial situation, and that I wouldnt be able to afford seeing him anymore, and he responded by saying , its not about the money, I think we should continue our sessions as scheduled, and you can just pay me when youre back on your feet.And that was that. He never, not even once, mentioned the money I owed him, nor made me feel any less cared for because I wasnt paying for those appointments.That act of kindness and sincerity toward me (someone he owed nothing to) is something Ill never forget. I went and saw Dr. Welton last month after my old psychologist retired after Ive bn with him for 5 years but I have been seeing doctors since the age of 6 and on my own at at age of 13 so Im use to most but as soon as I saw him ,with a warm smile and a kindness that radiated from him, I knew he would be a great doctor and I was right! I am very outspoken and say things without thinking sometimes but he liked that about me so that made it much more easier to talk to him. I even told a couple things that I havent ever told any of the many counsels or psychologists but he makes you feel comfortable with him but most importantly, with your self. I would like to say that I only wish I had him when I was younger and more vulnerable but ota never too late!

Dr. Welpton is by far the most experienced, professional, and knowledgeable psychiatrist Ive dealt with. I went into the first visit under the assumption he would be the same as all the others: dull, uncaring, and brief. He was the opposite. Whether this is because he has more experience than an average psychiatrist or that hes just better at his job, I dont know. I also believed that because his specialty is relationships, that he may lack understanding/ability to treat personal issues....that assumption also turned out to be wrong. Overall, hes a great doctor that I would recommend to anyone seeking help, growth, or just someone to talk to.

Going to marriage/couples counseling was an intimidating and overwhelming experience, but from the first day we met him, we felt at ease and knew we got really lucky in finding him. I was referred by a friend he had a cancelation got me in three weeks early, took his time with me listens to all my issues did several tests on me, we discussed my issues then he explained my medications to me what they were for and how they worked. Please I am begging you. Do not see this “doctor” I supported my ex husband through 5 rehabs and this doctor found him as he was patient shopping at a methadone clinic. He gave my ex husband copious prescriptions of adderall and Xanax on top of the methadone he was taking. Dr.welpton would only see him at his home in clearwater and ultimately contributed to my ex’s severe relapse. I reached out multiple times requesting he stop prescribing these controlled substances and was never met with a response. This man is dangerous. DO NOT SEE THIS “DOCTOR”.

It is no easy thing to walk away from a marriage of 14 years with 4 children as a stay at home mom. I did not know what I was capable of until I met Dr. Welpton. Dr. Welpton is a gifted therapist. He has completely changed my life. Despite all the challenges that I have faced during my divorce process, I have never been this happy. Ok so where to start..Ive dealt with my own personal issues periodically from time to time and so have seen other Psychiatrists before finding Dr. Welpton.The first immediate feeling I have and continued to have is his sincere tender understanding of people going through some of their most challenging times in life. Trust me...a few times after I finally managed to commit to getting help for myself I was usually near my rock bottoms. I was scared, sad, angry, dirty, and usually smelly due to perhaps I was finding it even too overwheming to shower appropriately at times. Yeah it was very bad my afflication was cuasing me. I promise you dear reviewers I was a mess. EVERY single time Dr. Welpton always talked to, treated, and listened to me even when I felt I diddnt deserve such humane genuine concern for myself and life. Every time.His demeanor towards me in my first steps to wellness was his kind sympathetic words, his attitude was with respect and dignity. I needed that and he exuded it naturally. It is truley a mark of his character and as a human being. Dr. Welpton gave me the room to talk, to just hear me, and he wanted to know what I thought could help the most for my recovery to get back to my best self. He diddnt want to just talk AT me but WITH me. There are other great things he has done for me that make no sense but are so beautiful that he did them. He went out of his way to schedule me in his packed day on a short notice ( I was in chaotic place mentally and unmedicated) just so I could get the assistance I so badly needed. He has made sure I am doing well and staying well.Im not saying there isnt other care providers with this kind of empathy and sincerity...theyre are...but theyre rare.Dr. Welpton is a true gem and a great model of what patient care should be.I am forever grateful I was able to find him. Those have been my personal experiences and I have a gut feeling he is also this way with everyone. Dr doug welpton is a very nice man seems caring, but what insuded was visit after visit slowly not remembering my story from the month previous. The visits became less about me and my problems too Do you need a refill and do you have the money and then asks about pharmacy etc.... Complete waste of time i used the same pharmacy every month. Instead of asking me if im ok or is the meds working, he asks you what you want instead of being a real psychiatrist and telling you what you NEED. Time to retire!

Dr Weldon is definetly the best doctor I have ever had he genuinely cares for his patients and isnt someone who just listens and sends you on your way and he keeps in contact thru text to see how you are .

This month marks my year of being a Florida resident. Moving was much harder for me considering I had to find a new doctor and one that doesnt play guinea pig w me. I chose him bc he had fabulous reviews which to each and every one he has taken rime and responded to the reviews letting the patient know he lnows exacly who they are and each one has its own review reply from him personally. When I was once desperate and looking for a therapist on a Friday afternoon, I came across Dr. Doug Welpton via Google and decided to give him a call based on his seventeen 5 star reviews. Dr. Welpton was the only therapist to call me back on the same day, listened to my story, and offered an appointment for me the very next day at a convenient time. He is a very caring man who listens compassionately and offers great advice/solutions. I would also like to recommend his book, Attract Love, Intimacy, & Money, to anyone reading this as well.Since seeing Dr. Doug for the first time, my negative mindsets have changed to positive ones, I am a much happier person in general, my outlook on life is great, and I am doing better in every aspect in my life. I have been in counseling & psychiatry my whole life!! Actually since before I was 18. I suffer from many disorders depression, sever anxity & paranoia at times that was caused by sever abuse as a child & brought on PTSD. As many of you know finding a good doctor can be a difficult process. Its even harder to find a good counselor. Even harder to find a good Psychiatrist. Im a veteran Registered Nurse, but before that I took care of the mentally disabled for many years. Ive read the Diagnostic and statistical manual for mental diseases and although I in no way have a doctorate knowledge of the subject, I know enough to suspect what Im dealing with in a patient with behavioral problems or cognitive disabilities. When my last Psychiatrist left my network I was devastated. It had taken me so long to find a true and compassionate professional. Thankfully Google led me to Dr Welpton. In the intake process I immediately recognized the surveys he gave me as direct diagnostic tools from the DSM. It was at this point my apprehension faded. I knew I was in the hands of a man who took his profession seriously and was not going to make assumptions. He listened to my story at great length only interrupting me for further detail. It was the best intake Ive ever had from a doctor. As the visits continued his passion, and compassion for helping me became quite apparent. He is not only an astounding Psychiatrist, but a very good therapist as well. I was overwhelmed when his first suggestions were lifestyle changes instead of just pushing another medication on me. This is a rare trait. He takes his time with you. He truly listens to you, and above all... listens to your suggestions, allowing you to take a role in your own plan of care. He is a true gem. I have been seeing Dr. Doug Welpton for about 6 months now. He has been extremely helpful in assisting me through some of my problems and fears. In past years, I was mis-diagnosed with several different disorders. My words to describe Dr. Doug would be inadequate. I have been to several professionals before and within ten minutes of my first visit he was already contributing to getting me healthy. He has provided me with the tools needed to manage my relationships in a healthy way. I have never written a review before so I would like ALL who read it to know that this comes straight from my heart. I am a 29 year old female who has been through MANY different psychiatric institutions and have had COUNTLESS different psychiatrists, none of which have touched my life, helped me change my life for the bettter, and properly diagnosed me as Dr. Doug has. To give you an idea of just how long my mental illness has effected me, I will share that I was held in a psychiatric facility for children at the age of six-years old and stayed there for 6 months for the treatment of severe PTSD amongst other diagnoses caused by events that occurred in my very early childhood. Over the course of my 29 years of life, I have been prescribed nearly every single drug on the market. I am one who has fought many demons, self-medicated for at least 15 years of my life using alcohol and drugs because eventually I gave up on finding a psychiatrist who would listen to me and then also treat me like a human being. I was sick and tired of being overmedicated on all sorts of different medications that had no positive effects on my life. However, I must add that I was clean for over a year and a half prior to finding Dr. Doug. Getting clean and choosing life is a choice we must make within ourselves. I went to my very first appointment with Dr. Doug, and was extremely nervous, scared, pretty much terrified. But when I sat down in his office and it was just Dr. Doug and myself, I felt surprisingly comfortable and confident that I could trust him to diagnose me correctly and then treat me accordingly. At our first meeting, I poured my heart out to him, almost in tears. I told him my history but I was also able to share with him all of the horrible things I had done over the years to my children and my husband. Note that these things that weighed heavy on my heart at the time were not things that I was ever able to share or admit to anyone except for myself. Dr. Doug has a very calm, trusting vibe that he puts off. He listens to you and treats you like a human being no matter what your past may be. Dr. Doug listens to your past history and wrongdoings and chooses to view you at your current state in life and does not judge at all. This is the way I believe that every psychiatrist should treat their patients. I cant imagine my life without meeting with Dr. Doug every month. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. DOUG TO EVERYONE WHO IS SEEKING TO LIVE A HEALTHY AND PRODUCTIVE LIFE WITHOUT JUDGEMENT BEING POURED UPON THEM. In only 3 months of being under his care, I have made a total turn-around. Best Dr. to have. Hell listen to you and pay attention. My first meeting only five minutes in he was able to tell that something was missed for a long time. He sat and spoke with me not at me. Im extremely untrusting and thats because of what Dr. Welpton was able to point out and now work on that with my other illnesses. My name is Chelsea, I have just recently started seeing dr. Doug and I have to say that I was pretty nervous about seeing another psychiatrist unfortunately I havent had the best luck in that area , most psychiatrists already size you up before you even get to open your mouth... But this doctor, dr. Doug completely surprised me he made me feel so comfortable and at ease he allowed me to be myself..express my true feelings and he treated me like a real patient should be treated. The location where his office is was very cozy and inviting. There was absolutely no wait time and he greeted me with a warm smile and a firm handshake which in my eyes that told me that he was just as happy to meet with me as I was him. I also wanted to add that this doctor is not just some writer who writes prescriptions he actually takes the time to talk with you and give you questionnaires to see just what your diagnosis may be. I have been so depressed for years and I suffer with PTSD.. it has been very hard because I am a new mother I have a precious little boy who is about to be 2 years old in August I tried going it alone without a doctor and I learned that that was absolutely impossible I cannot be the mother that he deserves if I cannot take care of myself. I have had the fortunate blessing to have met Dr. Douglas Welpton. He has made an incredible difference in my life.I was recently diagnosed with Major Depressive Recurrent after depressive episode lasted for over two months. My husband, who is in the mental illness field, tried unsuccessfully to secure an appointment with a doctor within the system, any sooner than two to three months out. He found Dr. Welpton through a Google search and took a chance with a phone call and message asking for help. Dr. Welpton returned the call within the same day, while on vacation with his family. Dr. Welpton is an excellent counselor. He is warm, unassuming, humble, sensitive and yet strong and capable. I am 25, got out of the military in 2010. My problems only got worse and the years grew and I was literally on my last string of hope. I tried calling the number in with an inquiry of getting a psychiatrist and someone over the phone told me that they don’t except insurance so I asked them what do they except as payment and they said they do cash checks PayPal cash app and when I ask them why they don’t except insurance the lady over the phone and responded with well if you practice medicine you would understand and hung up on me.Instead of them actually trying to talk to me they just very rudely hung up on me if you need a psychiatrist don’t inquire about this one.
