Life changing experience in paradise, sailing in Tahiti. The staff at the base were so friendly and helpful, they provided us with the snorkeling equipment that turned out to be used frequently. The boat was so comfortable, I easily fell asleep with plenty of room to spare. Our skipper was one of the most friendly, professional people we have run into, I am thoroughly convinced that if it wasnt for our skipper, we would have missed all the hidden treasures Tahiti had to offer.

Our charter to Grenada was canceled twice due to COVID-19, once in 2020 and again in 2021. Throughout this time, we were told on numerous occasions and by several vacation specialists, that The Moorings would accommodate their customers by either rescheduling or changing the destination of the charter at no “additional cost”, as long as the same dates and yacht size were rebooked…this was obviously NOT TRUE.We expect for The Moorings to honor the original terms of our contract. They wanted an additional $2,155.73 to change our destination and omitted our “sleep aboard night” from our contract…that was very DISHONEST.I have asked to speak to management on numerous occasions but to no avail…I’m still waiting for a call from The Moorings management team. Very disappointing.

I chartered a Moorings 514PC in Puerto Ricos Spanish Virgin Islands last week and it truly was a life changing experience. Ive never felt so carefree. The boat itself was a sight for sore eyes and had plenty of space for everybody to enjoy themselves on board. Literally all I can think about now is when I can go back because it was the best vacation Ive ever gone on.

Had a fantastic time in BVI with a bareboat charter of the 514 PC! Good vessel, easily handled, loads of room, lots of storage, as well as pretty economical to run. We experienced good support from the Moorings team for any issues that came up with the vessel. I highly recommend the Moorings and certainly the BVI - everyone is looking for a return trip as soon as possible!

With some reservations at first, we bought into their charter program, we are now an owner of a leopard433pc that we lease back to them. The whole ordeal was top notch right from the beginning. We were not certain that we wanted to do it. They did not pressure us at all, in fact they stated that the program was not for everyone, and if we changed our mind to let them know. We did, and could not be happier. I have been in business most of my life, and when you find a company like this one, you appreciate what they stand for, which is a rarity in this day and age. Through this covid thing, they have bent over backwards to accommodate. Thank you guys, cant say enough good things about you.

Man, I worked here decades ago. Im sure the company has been through many changes since then. Like any place one works, it had its ups and downs. I can say that the people I worked with genuinely cared about wanting the customer to have a good experience. They put forth significant effort to work with the customer on all levels. I never went on one of the yachts myself, but I have heard endless stories about how wonderful the experience is.

The bar has been raised! Once you charter with The Moorings, its easy to see why people keep coming back. Its everything a vacation should be.

I had an amazing vacation in the British Virgin Islands! We had a 43 foot power catamaran and LOVED it. Super roomy. Only issue we had was not enough time to see everything. I would definitely go back to the BVI and definitely charter with The Moorings again.

Have chartered twice with Moorings. Had a charter scheduled for Croatia in October 2020 and cancelled due to COVID. No way the group would get in an airplane to travel halfway around the world with a pandemic going on.Moorings would not refund my money in full. Will not be using Moorings in the future.

We chartered a boat from Belize. Had a good trip except for constant problems with the boat, mostly a generator. We lost over 1 day of our 7 day trip over Christmas either waiting on a mechanic, or working on it ourselves. The customer service people did very little because in their policy, a generator is not part of the essential equipment. We will never use these folks again.

While I was waiting for a Moorings rep to pick up the phone...I read all the poor reviews that popped up...I was a bit surprised I have used the Moorings annually for almost 20 years and have seen nothing of the poor service these reviews suggest...granted they can get crowded in Tortola in prime times but I have never known them to fail me. They do a great job...Their service calls were always timely and customer service was outstanding. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

Another superb trip with the Moorings. It was great to re-visit the BVIs and see how they were recovering from the catastrophic hurricanes of 2017. Amazing progress from the spirited and hardworking locals, who have retained their sense of humor.Wether we were helping run local beach bars, staffing them whilst the owner was running errands or just relaxing and putting literally thousands of dollars into the economy; we had a blast. As beautiful as every and Anegada relatively untouched the BVIs are definitely open and ready for business. Fishing over the Kingfish banks was excellent, we took 9 nice size tuna and a delicious Mahi Mahi from our Moorings 4800 Sailing Cat. Buoys are intact as are the ATONs so you can safely enjoy your cruise.

We chartered a 393PC out of Tortola as part of a group booking for the BOAT US annual flotilla. The Serenity Now, it was an older boat (4.5 years, due to be sold at 5 years) with smaller motors, but we knew that it would be a 3 to 5 year old vessel when we made the reservation, which is made through the Tampa FL office. (You can spend more and get a newer boat, and next time, I will.) In Tortola everything is staffed locally and you are on BVI time and turf so adjust your attitudes accordingly! We found the people at the Moorings docks and checkin counter to be friendly and competent. I was my own captain and my family the crew. As I had not operated a boat of this size before, I should have spent a few hours underway with their on-board captain assistance; they offered it, but after a run-through of systems and controls on the vessel I did not think it necessary, and their guide did not encourage me to do it, but I should have done it. The vessel ran fine for our week. Incredibly it was missing a VHF at the flybridge helm which is on the flybridge so I had to go below to talk to our flotilla leader with every problem I had. There was a corroded fitting for one to be there, but it wasnt. Despite a lifetime of experience on smaller boats (and I carry both a built-in and handheld on my 24 runabout at all times) I never noticed it was missing before departing. Our flotilla leader Dunbar was a long time Moorings captain (21 years) and was terrific. He gets a five star review, only the vessel was 4 stars. You couldnt ask for a nicer or more capable leader. And at the beginning, I had many things to ask, and was not too adept at the helm. The Moorings also sent one of their marketing people, Tina, to accompany Dunbar on the lead boat and she was very nice and a pleasure to be with. The itinerary included 6 separate overnight mooring locations at different islands and although there were only 5 boats in the flotilla, we all had a terrific time. When we got back to the harbor they put a dock captain on board to dock the vessel. As they (not me) unloaded the dinghy from the davits, the davit line snapped causing the dinghy and davits to crash down onto the swim platform. I actually asked about this when the dinghy was loaded on the davits a week prior, but was assured the line was indestructible and fine. I could only imagine, what if this happened at any prior time, would a family member have been in the water or assisting with the dinghy launch on the swim platform! Clearly they miss some things on the older boats. But this could happen with any charter. In summary the Moorings is a good outfit and we all had a terrific vacation.

I took my family on, what was supposed to be, the trip of a lifetime. After shelling out a boat load of money, to The Moorings, i thought we wouldnt have to do much except show up and have fun. Boy was i wrong about that!!!We planned to sail out of Tortola and around the BVI for the New Years Holiday. We specifically asked for a Captain who was not a party guy and knew where to take us fishing. We got neither of those qualities in our captain. When he wasnt off getting stoned he was generally in a bad mood unless he was pounding vodka in the evenings. When we got to the dock i asked him if he knew some good fishing areas and he claimed to have no clue about fishing. I went straight to the manager to see about getting another skipper but the manager said i just have to deal with who i was assigned. Luck of the draw type of thing. This type of complacency ran throughout the entire company. Nobody took responsibility or wanted to help you. Most of the employees had an attitude or what felt like a general distate for Westerners. I may sound like a big complainer but i am generally very easy to please. We made our reservation months in advance and put in a request for certain dietary items and a captain who would be suitable for a family of four, that wasnt into the party scene. These requests where said to be taken care of over the phone but the opposite was what we found when we arrived at the dock. Some other issues that we encountered along the way were that we asked to stay on certain islands for more than one night which the captain denied us the oppurtunity to do. We also requested not to be in a college party harbor on New Years Night which the captain assured us that we wouldnt do since we had young children. Well this was the last straw for my wife and i, the captain took us to Jost Van Dyke which was such a sad scene of drunks and drug pushers that it brought my 11 year old son to tears. It became very clear that the captain was given free rein and clearly had his own agenda, taking off with the dingy for hours at a time and leaving us stranded on the boat. He reccomended the worst restaurants and was generally a very rude human being. In short, it is mine and my families opinion that the Moorings is a very poorly run operation with horrible customer service. I would reccomend that someone take a private charter or look into another operation if you want to sail around the islands. Dont waste your time and money like we did. Thankfully my wife and i were able to entertain the kids and make the best of the beauty that surrounded us in the BVI.

I recently rented a boat in St. Lucia from the Moorings. First off, the Bimini top was almost ripped through. It was like this because the topping lift kept slipping, allowing the boom to lower and tear into the Bimini. This also prevented the boom from swinging to the other side of the boat when tacking. Later, the autopilot on this boat failed, leaving me, the only experienced sailor aboard, to manage the sails and the helm in 30+ knot winds and 3+ meter swells - dangerous to say the least. The a/c and water heater were inoperable as well. I eventually stopped my vacation and asked The Moorings to reimburse me for the derelict equipment. They said no, and went on to insult my experience and intelligence. If youre thinking about renting a boat, please be warned - The Moorings has poor equipment and even worse service.
