Southlake refuse and recycling is one of the best dumps I have ever had the pleasure of going.

As far as dumps go this one is the best. Good prices, your not leaving your trash at a slab of concrete. Its old school. They have treats for the dogs also.

Helpful staff. Told me I could return a steel cabinet to the free recycling instead of paying for it.

We have had South Lake Refuse service for 35 years, and we have had nothing but good service from them. I will admit though, that sorting at the dump and delivering it to their various recycling/dump stations can be a pain.

They pull your can for an underpayment instead of communicating with you then they tell you it will be a week before they deliver you the cans that could have stayed had they simply picked up a phone or sent a letter. I guess it is too hard to deliver a can on a non-pickup day, and people wonder where customer service has gone....

There are some harsh reviews on here, considering these people work with garbage all day and could easily make your life miserable by missing a pickup. I’ve been using south lake refuse about 5 years now and never really had a problem. They always pick up when they are supposed to, their large item pickup is a life saver, and the dump is, honestly, probably one of the cleanest businesses in Clearlake. They once didn’t pick up an old couch I’d left for them but my driveway isn’t on the street my address is so I suppose that can be forgiven. Oh and prices at the dump are so cheap it’s almost laughable. If I go to the doctor’s office I’d expect some candor from the staff, when I go to the dump I’m just glad they’re making this stuff go away for me, regardless of attitude.

This company dumped garbage on my property and then told me if I wanted them to clean it up they would charge me.This place is an absolute joke and theyll be getting a visit from me personally.

I think I can only review this dump compared to other dumps. I have been to the Colma Dump, on the site of the current Home Depot. The Hillside Dump and the San Francisco Recycling Dump.The hardest part of this dump is dividing the stuff into the correct places for recycling. Theres a place for metal, appliances, e-waste, paper, cardboard, lumber, bottles, and cans. The actual landfill only takes dirty paper, carpet, plastic trash, and treated or painted wood, shingles, stuff that is in no recyclable.Thats totally noble and correct but when cleaning up an abandoned apartment and yard, it is a lot of sorting into all those categories.

For the folks that say the folks that work at the dump are rude, well, think about it. Its a dump! Why do you go there, to dump stuff ugly stuff, funky stuff. Now, you deal with all kinds of people that complain about anything including the price you pay because you do not want that funky stuff at your house. Suggestion, in general, be nice and you will be treated nice :). P.S: I do not work there!

Worst trash service iver ever dealt with. been trying to get them to pick up extra trash from previous tennants for 3 months now. just finally told me there is a charge for that. whould have payed for it back im feb when i called first time about the pile. the driver has time to get out and leave a not saying cans are too close but he wont move the can. this made backed up pile even larger. ordered a larger can now so i can get this cleaned up. never showed up of course. i hate to say this about a smaller company but it whould actually benifit customers to sell out to waste management.
