I discovered this family owned collision center in January when I needed a repair after an accident. They told me afterwards to come back anytime if I had any problems. They did great work, had great communication and were timely with the repairs.Just recently I went back when my dealership must have not tightened the underbody cover properly after an oil change causing it to skid across the pavement while driving. Impressive! Great value, reasonable, honest, car people. I took my recently totalled Fox Body to them for a resurrection. They were not scared of it like other shops that turned me down. I was given a realistic time frame and cost of labor. No sugar coating. The car came out amazing! It looks far better than when I originally bought the car used. The team at Gils that did the work was nothing short of top tier. I cant thank them enough for the amazing work.

They did a FANTASTIC job on my 2017 Ford Focus! It was a job to considering that Rudolf tried to take my car out. Its all better now thanks to Gils Collision.

Sharing this on behalf of a friend who was in an accident and decided to take his vehicle here. Initially the owner agreed to fix all necessary issues and worked hard to secure all parts. Ultimately, two doors needed to be replaced and structural work needed to be done to the b pillar. The shop did not properly replace the doors (they do not sit properly on the frame), the new window in the door is completely scratched and was installed incorrectly (the window fell off the track and the window would not roll back up), and the shop reattached the b pillar using a sheet metal screw from the outside so that it is visible (which makes it look tacky). The overall b pillar is also crunched in from the accident and no attempt to fix it was made. Upon noticing the poor workmanship and lack of quality, the car was brought back and an agreement was made to fix the issues a second time. The car was in the shop for an additional 2 weeks being worked on, when in reality the car was never fixed a second time and had to be picked up with the looming issues still present. They essentially held the car for 2 weeks under the impression that their shotty work would be mended. The car was returned covered in dirt and dried water spots, and the interior was completely dusty and not cleaned out. The lack of professionalism is disheartening and the inability to follow through with a contract is aggravating. If the shop could not take on such a task, it should have been communicated. This was simply a money grab and an easy way to make cash from the insurance company, so quality was never a priority. I would not recommend this place for any work, let alone extensive body repair. Clearly the shop is not equipped with proper equipment and skills to handle large jobs, and you could risk being out of a vehicle for weeks.

While it is unfortunate, that I have been rear ended so many times, I feel very fortunate that I can always count on the great staff at Gils! The work is high quality and done in a timely fashion.

My sons car was cosmetically damaged by a fire. The staff at Northwood Collision repaired his vehicle in a reasonable amount of time. They were thorough and even managed to match the paint job by blending colors on the hood. It looks better than it did when we first purchased the car. Kevin kept me up to date with his progress and roadblocks. I will definitely continue to use Northwood Collision for any other repairs needed on our other cars. They are honest and care about the final result!!!!

Wonderful, wonderful experience! Keith gave a detailed look at the damage, an accurate and reasonable quote, and stuck to the timeline (even beating it by a few hours). Other places we looked into said they needed to replace the parts, costing us hundreds more, but this place was able to repair it by bending the original parts back into shape; something other companies said wasnt possible. Now our car looks brand new again! Our family will definitely be going here for all future repairs. 5 stars!

Our go to place for any kind of service on our vehicles. We have been going here for over 8 yrs. They are helpful and honest and do good work. We have never had any problems or an unkind word. They are good people and we bring our friends and family here too.

I dropped my vehicle off for mechanical work on a Sunday night.Unfortunately the next day my son was in an accident and I towed it to Gils. The mechanical work and maintenance was fixed and my son was back on the road while our collision repair was at Gils. Before the insurance company ever came out the parts were ordered for the collision repair. They managed my claim great! We are all back on road.I have been in the automotive industry all my life. I would not trust my vehicles with anyone else!

They did a fantastic job repainting the hood of my 1988 car. The color matched perfectly and the new finish was incredible.Ive been coming here for 30 + years and the quality of work is just a good as it always has been.

Ive been taking my vehicles to Gils for close to ten years now and wont take them anywhere else. The prices for the work are the most reasonable around, the quality of the work is great, they carry BG products which are hard to find and everybody is nice and helpful. Ive read the negative comments on this blog and have determined that those folks have mistaken Gils for a dealership at the Troy Motor Mall, probably the Dodge dealership because that is where I quit going for service.

He actually didnt end up repairing our car because it was as specialty job. A basket case restoration that I half finished myself.Kevin was very nice to deal with though. He spent 40 minutes with me explaining why our project wasnt feasible, and he went out of his way to refer us to people who could help us. I visited 5 body shops in south oakland county looking for someone to take the project, and Kevin was by FAR the most honest and upfront. Thats really all you can ask for. I actually called him for a reference on some mechanical work for another car after the fact, and he was again very helpful.This is a dying breed, an owner operated business that actually cares about the work they do. Id rather be told no and given an honest reason why, then left frustrated. When (not if) one of our other cars is involved in an accident, you can be sure Gils will be the first and only place well take them. Its clear to me they care about the work they put out, as much if not more then the money.

When it comes to rating and reviewing things on a 1-5 star system, I dont take the far ends of the spectrum lightly. In this case, Gils Northwood Collision is most deserving of an outstanding 5 stars.Ive taken all of my vehicles to them for all of my body repair and mechanical repairs and maintenance (outside of manufacturer service work) for several years and dont anticipate this changing anytime soon.Kevin and his staff are fantastic and are always willing to explain/show everything as much or little as needed to make a well informed decision before performing any work. They never try to push extra work that isnt legitimately needed or requested.I dont easily trust auto mechanics and have been burned many times in the past by shoddy work, but Gils has earned my trust and respect. They stand by their work and on the rare occasion that Ive had an issue persist after I left, they have done whatever was necessary to make things right.
