Awful experience today at PetSmart. Just a suggestion when you have a adoption event at PetSmart make sure your representatives have people skills. Your representative today was not professional. Being new to the adoption process, I had questions. Your representative was rude. You should maybe take lessons with dealing with the public from Petco. That’s where I went to adopt my kitten today. Very nice and professional

The cats are under bad conditions. They are kept in small cages in a 5 ft wide room. I wonder how the cats can even breathe well in it. The door only opens for adoption procedures other than that that cramped dark room is closed. The old cats there seem to give up on the hope that they can be freed one day. Only the kittens will shout loudly when you come and see them. I dont support this place, just hope all the cats to be adopted soon and live in a better condition

This organization does wonderful work. i adopted a cat from them, orange crush when he was at the shelter and renamed twinkie when he came home with us lol that was about 20 years ago and i could not be more thankful for cats are us for bringing him into our lives, he really made my family better by becoming apart of it and was so loved. ( twinkie passed this year ) pls do not let all the bad reviews make you forget these are volunteers, extremely over worked and caring individuals.

I truly appreciate what these ladies are doing for stray cats, but they really need help. I’m not claiming that I know what cats need, but I feel they need more! Please, please, donate to this organization. My daughter and I visited the shelter and thank god my 10 year old is the sweetest child on the planet and didn’t complaint about the smell.

We spoke to a lady this morning at 9 am who told us we needed to go to petsmart to adopt. We arrived there at 9:59 and spoke to Logan who informed us that they would not be there until 12, who then called cats r us and I spoke to a lady on their phone and she asked us to come back at noon which we happily obliged. When we came back at noon there was still no cats r us rep there and one has to be present to adopt after waiting 20 minutes we left. Terrible terrible customer service. I would give less than one star if possible.

My husband and I adopted our first cat through them from PetSmart. They were nice and answered my questions. When it was time for our cats spay surgery and shots, they covered the entire bill. Weeks after, I ran into one of the ladies feeding feral cats by the mall. They truly care so much.

So my husband and I got two cats from pet smart, and we had to give them back. We meet at Pet smart to drop them off and all the cat are us employees or people that just worked with the cats were so rude. Me and my husband were upset that we had to give them away, and they would ask us a question and before we could finish answering they would walk away. I just thought it was so unprofessional and they made us feel ashamed to bring them back so they can find a better home.

Adopted two cats from this place and they were all beat up, and their fur looked terrible. They were scared of every human that came near them and one of the cats had a scared eye tissue. We also went to see their establishment and the hours don’t actually match when they’re there. My wife and i saw multiple cats just walking outside without collars, and just food scattered everywhere. The building butts against a busy road so no telling how many cats have wondered out and got ran over. Wouldn’t not suggest helping this place or even getting cats from them.

Lady was very rude and unhelpful... I was brushed off and dismissed very quickly without being listened to or her even attempting to help me with other options that would prevent me from having to take my cat somewhere that would end up putting her to sleep in the end. If you care anything about your cats dont take them here cuz this woman could care less about you, your cat, or whatever situation you have found yourself in that requires the assistance of an animal rescue.

An all volunteer organization, most are overworked and overwhelmed. Be in their shoes for one week and you understand their frustrations. Its a great place to get a cat, patience is key! Adopted many lovely cats and dogs from here they the years wouldnt trade it for anything. The director is a lovely kind hearted woman. Research and understand what these volunteers go through on a daily basis before bashing, and please understand cats come from horrendous situations and cats are us wants whats best for them in their future.

The people who works here are volunteers, they are also disrespectful and lie to you if they deem you unfit to adopt one of their cats. I have no doubt that they love their cats and I think thats a wonderful thing. However I am a responsible pet owner, I have no other pets currently and was willing to give one of their many cats a good home. They refused me because I wasnt who they thought I should be. Lied to my face about my ability to adopt said cat at least twice, and made my kid who is seven and also a responsible pet owner cry. Its deplorable. Do not do business here. It will cause you heart ache and a lot of it. Either that or lie. Lie lie lie like they do and maybe youll get a cat. Send in your grandmother alone and they will adopt to her maybe. Its a big maybe. And the saddest part is, is that the cat could be out of his cage in my house not sleeping in its own crap but she refused me every time. Hes still caged and these people do bad business. I was politely persistent, respectful and courteous. I offered the benefit or the doubt, they just do bad business. Good luck.

Instead of helping me find a home for a stray kitten she suggested continuing to find it a home, after I told her that the kitten who is still on kitty milk and syringe fed, has been home alone for a day and will be again. This is not a rescue. She said they foster cats and asked me to send a photo, which I did and never got a response even after asking if she received the photos. No call back or anything.

Adopted two kittens last Sunday. One got sick on Wednesday night just threw up his food we thought it just didn’t agree with his stomach. Then next day he was throwing up bile so we looked it up and it said that he could have ate two fast or the food was expired so we wanted to see if he would get better the next day we took him to the vet but she was out on lunch so our cat waited an hour to be seen. Our fur baby passed away yesterday we called and talked to Susan and she blamed the kitten dying on us that it was our fault. She was never sympathetic she was yelling at me and being very rude. I would not recommend getting any animal from here

My wife and I wanted to adopt two sweet cats together and give them a home and I called the, number, and was told to fill out one of their papers and, theyd get back to us. A month past and no one ever called us back. We went back to try and, adopt a kitten from their establishment itself and was directed to petsmart. When we, tried to adopt one of the kittens there and they refused to give us a straight answer to let us adopt the animal. I asked for a chance to speak with the owner to reassure her that the cat would be taken care of properly, but one,of her assistances instead kept saying that theyd get back to me and then referred us to a kill shelter. Too much hassle for trying to adopt a pet.

Went to Petsmart, saw two older 12 year old cats sitting in a cage, that needed a loving home together, we were willing to take both. Called the number for Cats Are US, lady said shed call us. She never called then we called her again, she said she would call us back. She never called again, just giving us the run around. We feel bad for those cats, both are locked in the same cage at Petsmart. Shame.

I wish there were a worse option than poor to fair. My husband and I were looking to adopt a dog from this establishment, and decided to go straight to their main location on Providence Blvd. We were disgusted! Not only was the place a nasty mess, but cats with upper respiratory infections and other sicknesses were walking around getting healthy cats sick. The place stunk to high heaven of feces and pneumonia. We didnt walk in past the doorway it was so gross. When we pulled up to the building/house we could smell it from outside. When we talked to the lady that worked there, she gave us all these rules and reasons why we wouldnt qualify for one of their pets. Acting like these cats were being kept in the lap of luxury! My husband and I were so shocked and disgusted by this place, that we decided to go to the County Animal Control. When we asked about Cats Are Us, we got quite a shock. They cant do anything, because apparently, the woman that runs this hell hole, has strings with people on the City Council. The fact that the government of a military town would allow animal cruelty is beyond me. I plan on contacting many people to get this place closed, and these cats some much needed medical attention. DO NOT GO HERE!

Went to visit this place in hopes of adopting a kitten with no luck. When we arrived, the grass/area around the shop and house was overgrown and dirty. I got out of the car and was immediately slapped in the face by the awful stench of rotting corpses. I saw in another review that unwanted animals are thrown away and the stench makes sense. There were no hours posted and all the windows were blocked. This place seemed VERY shady, and the house next to the shop looked like it should be featured on the next episode of hoarders. The stench alone is enough to keep anyone out. In my opinion, if an animal is deceased, BURY it kindly; don t toss it in a dumpster to rot. Show some respect. Don t complain about being overloaded either if you don t have enough respect for your business to properly maintain it.

Dont let the poor reviews fool you! One thing many people need to know about Cats are Us is it is all volunteer based. Its not a shelter that has people employeed, therefor there are not regular business hours. If you call and ask to stop by they are more than happy to meet you. I have volunteered at cats are us for a year now and fostered several cats, two of which I adopted. These are the most loving and caring group of people I know. Please take the time to get to know about the organization before you write a bad review.

Went to Petsmart and found two loveable cats I was interested in adopting. Called the girl who answered the phone Petsmart. Told her I was in the store and wanted to see about adoption. She stated Ill be right there. I waited patiently for over an hour. No show, no call back, and thus no adoption. Sad these poor animals are left under the care of such an inconsiderate person. Petsmart would be wise to look into this.

I am surprised to see so many bad reviews since all of my dealings with Cats-R-Us has been great. I have witnessed how overworked the two ladies that I met are, but even then they have always been pleasant to talk to. We have given them two litters of kittens from a pair of strays that decided to have their babies in my garage over the winter. I feel grateful that they found homes for all those fur-babies. This being the only NON-kill drop off that I could find locally at that time. The stray mommies and stray daddies have been trapped, neutered and released with the help of my awesome neighbors (xoxo), Montgomery County animal control (Thank you for loaning the traps and giving vouchers for spay/neutering!), and Cats-R-Us for their loving care of those feral and excepting the vouchers! Now we no longer have issues in our neighborhood with unfixed, un-vaccinated feral cats and our own cats are more safe for it. I will be taking my feline fur-faces there for all their needs in the future.

We had a pretty horrible experience at Petsmart in Clarksville today. We went in knowing Cats Are Us was there with kittens today. Hoping to find us our very own kitten. Well, we actually found one kitten out of the many they had. We did not loiter and look at others indecisively. As we are being explained the process of adopting, the younger girl with shorter red hair was being very snotty. Then once they mentioned the $100 adoption fee my husband asked what all was included. His question verbatim was this. What all is included in the $100 adoption fee? Is it things like a certificate for spay or neutering, declawing, or all shots? The woman we were speaking to still being really nice, and continued to explain the process while the younger red head decided to run over to the I’m assuming main Cats-Are-Us manage, and talk poorly about our family. She was saying things like they have 3 kids, and one of my bottle fed babies doesnt belong in a home with 3 kids. She was also making childish noises, and stomping her foot. Once I overheard her conversation which was not in a low tone by any means I paused the conversation with the one lady that I was having, and said ok then handed the nice lady the kitten, and proceeded to let the red head know I could hear her. I said excuse me it is extremely rude and unprofessional to talk about people, and judge their animal nurturing abilities based on the number of kids they have. She said I will not adopt out of my babies to a family who wants to declaw. So I informed her that declawing was never our intention, it was a simple statement my husband had made prior. She proceeded to raise her voice at me, and I decided to be the bigger person walk away, and inform the manager of Petsmart of her unprofessional actions.Just because you have the kittens does not mean you have the right to be extremely picky about whom they go to. Especially considering how overpopulated this area is with strays any family who wants one should be given the opportunity. Your closed minded self just made my children feel bad for thinking its their fault we cannot get one as well as showed them how ignorant some people are.

My experience was unfortunately similar to that of others. I saw a kitten at PetSmart, fell in love with her, and went to the Cats Are Us house to fill out an application. I saw a special about shelters for feral cats on TV, so I wasnt completely appalled by the conditions. The property is meant to be a safe haven for strays and ferals, not adoptable cats or people. I did think, however, that it was a bit odd that I only saw adult cats roaming around. Apparently, all of the kittens were at PetSmart. I filled out my application (which was very basic and cursory) and was told that I would probably be approved and could pick the kitten up the following day. After no one contacted me, I called Cats Are Us daily to find out the status of my application, but was abruptly hurried off the phone each time I called with no real details as to what was going on. Finally, I received a text message simply stating my application was not approved. When I asked why, I was told it was because I did not list a vet reference. I have no animals, why would I have a vet? There was no formal interview, no home inspection, no inquiry about my income, and no one spoke to me over the phone about the application.I hate to act like theres some big conspiracy going on, but I dont like how these people do business. I have a sneaking suspicion that the kittens in PetSmart are just placed there to advertise the shelter and that they had little intention to actually adopt out the only kittens they had, especially since (as of this review) its Christmas. I think that this sort of shelter is a great idea and that providing a place for feral cats and strays to go is a wonderful. But they shouldnt try to adopt out those types of cats or advertise themselves as an adoption agency if thats not their intention.

I recommend stay away. Ive been trying to adopt a cat for two weeks now. I went to petsmart and found a cat i love. Filled out the application and called the number. They answered and told me to leave the application there. They told me that their was already another application on that cat. So while on the phone with them i found two. Was told she would call me in the morning to meet her at petsmart. I waited all day and no call. I called at 230 and was told they couldnt find my application. So i went up to petsmart and filled out a second application and talked to the lady there with cats are us. I decided to wait on the cat i first liked on friday. The lady said they was gona give the other people a few more days to hear back from them. No call back so i called friday 02/08/13 in the morning and was told they didnt want the cat. But was also told she would get my application and call me back. No call back. So i called at 430 and she said they couldnt find my application. So today i decided to go up to petsmart again and talk to the cats are us people and they said someone else might have my application that is out of town. That i woukd have to wait for her to get back. Couldnt fill out application # 3 and adopt the cat and take her home because i would have to wait on their waiting period of 24 to 48 hours. Excuse me.....after 2 lost or missed placed application and 2 weeks i still got to wait. The one that is hurt the worse is the cat still locked in a cage. Very upset with cats are us. I recommend use and donate to a different shelter. I feel bad for these cats. Next weekend Im going to a different shelter and try my luck there.
