I started training at Action a little over a year ago. I enjoy the fact that I can take classes online via Zoom, in person at the school, or a combo of the two. There are numerous time/day options classes during the week. I’ve come to love all of the instructors like family. I’m almost 41 and am meeting some great physical goals, etc. I now have my 4 year old daughter training as well. She loves it! She is in the Ninja classes building a foundation with basics that she’ll (hopefully) continue to build on as she grows and eventually moves into basic classes in a few years. We are very happy to be a part of the Action Karate Cinnaminson family.

**Sorry this is long but here is some back story!!**My husband John and I both did different forms of Karate as kids and so did my mom who earned her black belt in two forms. When our daughter Grace started the first grade, we needed to find something to help her focus with the increased school work, school day, and energy. We went down the list of sports and nothing was appealing for her. Finally, we drove past Action Karate Cinnaminson and the forgotten memories of karate re appeared for both of us. Right away, Grace was interested so I went online and put a request in for info. Within 30 minutes Mr. Brenner called me with all of the info, and brought us in for a FREE private lesson to see if she was really interested or not. *We LOVE that part* Shocker, she loved it!After just two classes her focus and respect increased tremendously! She took on more responsibility at home and started helping more and more with raising her 3 year old cousin.Speaking of that cousin, she’s signed up now too! After watching Grace for the last 3 months, she started doing the class on the sidelines, so as soon as she turned 3, we got her in! Here’s probably the best part about Action Karate…..2 free memberships (minus uniform cost) with 2 enrolled. I officially earned my White belt last night and John will be starting next week! That’s right, family of “ninjas” says Grace!Action Karate is a family, a home, a safe place for people to be. We love going there for class daily, and how welcoming everyone was and still is. Mr. Brenner is VERY present, the staff is so incredibly friendly and warm. We love and appreciate everything they do for us, especially how much it has helped Grace develop.Thank you for everything you do Action Karate Cinnaminson! We recommend you to everyone when they hear that John and I are back in karate. If you’re looking for a place to outlet your energy, gain focus, build trust, strength and integrity, then this is place for you!

My son asked to join karate for 6 months before I finally signed him up for his first class at Action Karate. He has loved it there from the moment we stepped foot in the building. Even through the pandemic, he was able to continue his training online and not delay any of his progress toward the coveted Jr Black Belt. The staff at Action Karate Cinnaminson has brought out in him a desire to be a leader and have helped him discover that he loves working with younger students. Being able to help in the Ninja Shark classes and with some private lessons is definitely what he is most proud of in his journey to Jr. Black Belt.

My son has been attending Action Karate for several years. When he started, he was very shy and had low confidence. He has learned so many lessons in class; not just karate but life lessons as well. He has gained the confidence to speak in public, talk to people he doesn’t know well, and be proud of his achievements. I believe the amazing staff also contribute a great deal to this being a place a kid can learn and grow to become well-rounded and successful at whatever goals they set!

Weve been here for 5 years and it always has felt like a family. The past 24 months or so, including pre-pandemic, it has slipped greatly. Theres more of a focus on bringing in new members instead of enhancing the experience for current ones. Classes have gotten too big for effective teaching/learning and many were overflowing before restrictions on indoor gatherings. Even now, classes fill up so quick that its caused members of my family to no longer wish to participate anymore.

I started my karate journey back in 2014. At first karate was more of a way for me to be active and get exercise. After a while, karate slowly became a normal part of my life and turned me into who I am. It has been a great outlet for me to destress and let out any frustration in a positive way. Through the years, Ive enjoyed the atmosphere at Action. Now, 6 and a half years later, I plan to test for my 2nd degree black belt.

My daughters story: When I was in 5th grade I decided that I wanted to try karate. So my dad found Action Karate Cinnaminson for me to try. I tried the 3-week trial thinking that I wasn’t going to enjoy it. At first, I didnt like it, but then I realized how beneficial karate was for me. It taught me discipline by wearing the correct uniform and showing respect towards my senseis and everyone around me. I was taught to address my karate teachers as sir and ma’am to display my respect for those around me. It also taught me self-defense by teaching me how to stand up for myself when someone is attacking me. I learned a variety of different kicks, punches, combinations, and katas. Karate also sharpened my reflexes by teaching me how to react to certain attacks and adapt to certain situations. For example, sometimes I will accidentally drop something and then catch it immediately after I drop it. I wasn’t able to do that before I started karate. Although karate was very helpful to me, It was hard to continue it.I had two other sports other than karate and a lot of school work, but I loved karate so much that I had to stick with it. A couple of months ago I hurt my leg, and I couldn’t do certain kicks and stances for months, but I had to work through it and continue karate if I wanted to achieve my black belt. I stretched every day and tried different kicks and stances on my leg so it wouldn’t hurt as much when I did kicks and stances in class. Karate was difficult, but it turned out to be very useful in my everyday life. Some kicks and punches were tricky for me, but I practiced and got much better over time. Ever since I have been doing I have overall been a better version of myself. I am not a very social person, but karate has taught me to get out of my comfort zone and be more comfortable with meeting new people. Karate has made me more confident in myself. It has helped me to believe in myself and persevere when things are hard. Now that I have started my blackbelt training, karate has gotten much more difficult. I have to do certain workouts every day and I have to memorize different moves and katas. It is challenging to focus on karate when I have so many other distractions such as school and soccer, but I love karate too much to quit. Karate has taught me discipline, respect, self-defense, and to have sharper reflexes. I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t come to karate class.

My son (Zakk age 11) took the White Belt Challenge during his time at home because of COVID-19 stay at home. He did Zoom live classes and some pre-recorded classes. He loved it. The instructors were great. He learned some karate moves, but also self-discipline, focus and confidence. The only reason we are not continuing with Action Karate is because they are not close to us. However the staff has gotten him excited to learn more so we are enrolling him in a school close by us so he can continue. Thanks Action Karate staff! He even did the class while we were camping.

With the pandemic and quarantine closing the schools, we saw this as an opportunity for our son to get some exercise and structure in his daily life during all this. We signed him up for the White Belt Challenge and he loved it. He got really involved, memorizing his motto, cleaning his room without a fuss and learning all the various moves from the teachers. This was also quite the bonding experience for our son and me(his father) as I assisted him with the classes and made sure he was paying attention. We had a lot of fun and he learned a lot. I would recommend this course to any parents looking to get their child active and to learn some fundamentals like self discipline and focus.

But, I have always wonder, doesnt it cost more for the owner to have so many teachers teaching for one class? Any way, the class is fun.

My daughter, Ashlyn, has been with Action since June 2015. I sort of forced her into it because she was quiet and seemed to lack confidence. My husband and I tried effortlessly to encourage her to try something - sports, dance, gymnastics - but she was not interested. I came across an offer on Facebook where Action Karate was running a month special. So we figured, why not try it? She was resistant due to her shyness, but we told her that for one month she would go, and then we would revisit her interest in continuing. That was 3 years ago, and she loves it! She quickly took to the instructors as they are lively and encouraging. There is always positive reinforcement with an emphasis on the discipline and commitment it takes to truly earn each belt rank and eventually test for junior black belt. Ashlyn has gained confidence, respect for martial arts and is committed to earning her junior black belt. The time has come. She is currently preparing and will pre-test this Saturday. Then the big day is June 2, 2018. It will be physically draining and tough, as we have been warned, but with consistent effort in her training and the encouragement she receives from Mr. McQuade, Mr. Brenner, Miss Nancy, Miss Mary, Miss Marla, Miss Stephanie, and Miss Mandi, amongst other wonderful instructors, I am sure she can get through it. When I was younger, I took martial arts classes for three years at a school that was in the strip mall near my house. I could walk to class. I took breaks during baseball and football. I was on track to reach my goal of becoming a black belt, on an extended schedule. I was forced to stop though when the school closed.Through the years, I felt like I could have done something more. I always thought how amazing it would be to call myself a black belt. I would be like Jackie Chan. As I grew up, I had thought about going to different schools, but I either didn’t have the money, or I didn’t have enough time.As I got older, I got married, I started my career, and we eventually had two sons. On day, my wife saw online that Action had a promotion going on for a free class. So, she signed my older son, Logan, up for it. I took him, and he had so much fun. I had so much fun watching him. I signed him up that day.A couple weeks later, it was June. I went to the bring your dad to class day in honor of Father’s Day at the beginning of the month. After the class, I was told I could go for the whole month for free and get a free uniform if I signed up that day. I couldn’t turn that down.A few weeks after I started going to classes, my son unexpectedly decided he wanted to stop going. It’s very hard to change a four-year old’s mind. I was heartbroken, but I wouldn’t try to force him to have the same interests I had growing up. I had a tough decision to make at that point… do I quit too?I decided to keep going. My road to black belt has not been an easy journey. There were moments when I thought I should quit. I’ve been injured, I’ve had trouble making it to class, and I even took an extended break. My position at my company requires me to travel out of the country occasionally. I have also been the lead on projects with often too tight of deadlines. This often requires me to work late, and when the units are ready, we go and test it at the customer site, where I can be away for usually one or even two weeks. At one point, I was working on a project that required multiple trips to a customer. We would test, come back home and adjust things or even redesign them, and go back a month later. I barely had enough time to see my family. Some nights, I would get home after they had already gone to bed. I had to stop going to karate. I was very upset, but it was the right decision to make at the time. The project hit an end. The customer wasn’t able to use our product on their tool, but with their next generation came with new work. We had a more reasonable timeline. After spending some much-needed time with my family and to relax and enjoy some normal work weeks, I decided to start taking karate classes again.I’ve had periods since then where I had to travel for work, but it’s been manageable. I could have stopped and never came back, but I had made a goal to become a black belt, and that is what I am going to do.Thank you, Mr McQuade, Mr Brenner, and the rest of the Action Karate Staff for helping me realize my goal.

My daughter, Leah, first started karate after the event Dad’s Lunch and Punch in June, 2016. Her sister was already taking class in the Ninja Shark class and she wanted to give it a try. A that point, I was also taking class, so she was the only other girl in family who hadn’t started karate yet. She has done really well so far and is scheduled to test for her Junior Black Belt in June. However, she is also heavily involved in soccer and it hasn’t always been the easiest journey. One year ago, she got diagnosed with Sever’s Disease of her ankle and that has made classes sometimes unbearable for her because of the flat mats. She was sometimes in tears either having to go to class or directly after class. But she has grit and pushed through with the help of special heel cups and an ankle brace because she wanted to keep earning higher belts. She is also not the most responsible kid. She’d often times forget her karate pants or her gloves. A few times when she was a lower belt, she couldn’t earn her stripe on the night she tested because she didn’t remember her proper uniform. But that didn’t discourage her, and she always remembered her proper uniform the next night! Although she still struggles with responsibility, she has come a long way from when she first started and we have Action Karate to thank for that!

We initially enjoyed his participation at Action for the typical benefits that an extracurricular activity can give, but over the years it has become so much more. Martial arts has helped to foster things like focus, respect, responsibility, and health awareness, in addition to physical fitness and teamwork. Two of my three children enrolled in Action Karate Cinnaminson shortly after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. We were worried that they would lapse into a sedentary lifestyle while quarantined. Karate filled the void in terms of providing an engaging, value-adding activity that was fun while helping them stay fit.I can honestly say that enrolling them in karate was one of best decisions we’ve made for them. Action Karate Cinnamonson has been absolutely amazing. The school converted effortlessly into a top-not online instructional facility post COVID-19. Classes schedules were clear, easy-to-follow and students benefited from their YouTube tutorials as well. Constant communication is key and Action Karate was top-notch in keeping everyone in the loop.Frannie, Robert and Matthew are incredibly professional, thorough and extremely responsive. They are always able and willing to answer questions. The treat the children and parents with utmost respect and take a holistic approach towards teaching. From Day 1, It was evident instructors are very dedicated to their discipline. They not only review all of the new moves in each class, but also provide extremely detailed feedback with respect to areas of improvement, form, technique, etc. Consistent and constructive feedback is of paramount importance for students as they continue on the learning journey. My boys absolutely LOVED the experience. We would rate it higher than 5 stars if possible. It is VERY high-energy, engaging but extremely disciplined. It helps instill a sense of self-confidence, increases strength and agility and improve their focus. If you are on the fence about trying out martial arts, I would definitely suggest that you give it a try - you will NOT regret it. Kids and adults like will have a fun while getting fit - it’s a win-win scenario:)In closing, I wanted to mention that I tried the week three White Belt “YouTube” video alongside my sons. Normally, I do HIIT (high-intensity interval training) for one hour each day. This is definitely a workout comparable to HIIT (and I mean that in the BEST possible way)!

My son has been at Action since he was 3. He was pretty much non verbal but had a high IQ, which lead to some behavioral issues. We had him in speech therapy but I thought Karate would be good for him as well. Below is what 6.5 years of karate has done for him. He is confident, now highly verbal (a chatterbox), and is a warrior through and through. Action has become family to us and I am so very happy with our journey. There are many more goals to attain but his next his JR Black Belt. This is what he has to say about his journey.........Hi I am Eddie and I started karate at 3 years old. I didn’t speak much and my Mom and Mom-Mom wanted me to learn karate and have more focus. I did not talk much but thought it was fun. I went through the Ninja class from 3 until 6 and half. I learned karate, self-defense, how to talk in front of people, how to stand up for myself, and other life lessons like how to get away from a stranger. I did a few tournaments and earned medals. I always tried my best at the tournaments but never won a trophy. I made me feel sad and I cried a lot but I kept trying. I grew to be more confident and more focused. I entered Black Belt Leadership and started being a role model for my friends. I loved working with weapons and being able to spar. Each year and belt I became more confident and had more self-discipline. This year was hard with quarantine because I really liked to going to in person classes. My school is like a home for me and my instructors are family. To not see them made me feel sad. I wanted to give up but my mom and I talked about working through it. I know now that is called GRIT. Now I am working for my Black Belt. It is hard but I am trying my best and I am not giving up. This summer I read a book “Warrior Kid”. It really made me think about how I want to be. I know there are going to be more ups and downs. I know I may not pass the first time. It breaks my heart to think about that but I am a warrior and keep going and I am not going to stop until I reach my goal.

I was looking for a good workout plan after I left college and I am so thankful that I found Action Karate Cinnaminson! The instructors are awesome and always motivate us. The school is beautiful and feels like my home away from home. I would recommend this to anyone of my friends and family because it has helped me so much! I fell in love with this place as soon as I stepped in, and I know anyone else who tries it will love it too!

My daughter, Juliana, began training at Action Karate Cinnaminson when she was 6 years old. She immediately took to Mr Brenner and Mr McQuade. She enjoyed going to class and learning new things. She advanced from a “Little Ninja Shark” up through her basic classes… all the way to her Junior Black Belt. Her training was fun and never did she want to quit or not go to class. Action became our home away from home and allowed her a place to triumph and fail in a safe environment. She became close with other students, many not from her school district, which opened up new perspective to her. Now, over five years later, she is ready to test for her Senior Black Belt. The transformation between these black belts is what I’m most proud of. Life has thrown her some curve balls as she is moving into her tween years. Physically things are getting a little more difficult, managing time between school work, social life, and karate is not as easy as it used to be. And changes at home have forced her to use her grit muscles in many different ways. The skills she began learning as a Little Ninja Shark – focus, self-discipline, confidence – are the skills I wish for her as a parent. They have undoubtedly allowed her to reach this level of her training. They have helped her teach younger students and be a positive part of the Leadership Team and Demo Team. I am so very excited for her as a young martial artist. She has the opportunity to continue to build on these skills at such a young age, which I know will positively impact her entire life. I am thankful for Action Karate and all their instructors for the wonderful support they provide to my child and all the children within our community.

Our son started at Action Karate in June, after attending a birthday party.Bobby loves it. The classes are fun as well educational. We had gone toa different Martial Arts school when he was younger. The programwas good but Action Karate has a much more positive, kid friendlyapproach to learning. The instructors engage the kids by asking for volunteersto demonstrate and answer questions. Bobby is always volunteering. He hasbecome much more self confident and outgoing in class. The instructors aregreat. They also have lessons of the week that relate to karate, school and home.We are very happy with Action Karate in Cinnaminson!Paul and Janet Liedike

Our son started Action in February. He has gained such confidence in the last few months. The instructors are warm and caring. It feels like a real family environment. We love that the curriculum is focused not only on the physical ( though the kids definitely work out) but that they really work on building confidence, perseverance, respect and positive self esteem. There is a theme each week with stories and discussion to reinforce the theme. Action Karate addresses the whole person. We have been so happy with our experience.

From my son: I am 9 years old and go to Action Karate in Cinnaminson. I really like it there. Ihave been going since I was 4 ½ years old. I have gone to a few tournaments. I came in first in some and lost some. I got upset when I lost, but learned to do better next time. I like to see my progression in my skills as I get older and advance in my belts. I used to not be able to do a push up before I started and I didnt know any self defense. Now I am going for my black belt. I couldnt have done that without Action Karate.

My daughter Emily started training here over 3 years ago. We had tried several sports before karate but nothing seemed to really keep her attention or focus. She immediately fell in love with Action Karate because she was encouraged to yell and be loud. I fell in love with it because it allowed her to get her energy out (when it’s appopriate), while at the same time teaching her self-control when necessary. She is now working on her Junior Black-Belt and I’m extremely proud of her, and thankful for all the Action Karate team has done for her. My daughter Chyna and I came to Action Karate- Cinnaminson about a year and a half to two years ago by recommendation of her last karate instructor Mr. Shaw. His establishment closed and he wanted his students to continue their training at the best school possible. Well, he was absolutely on point with this school! She has always had a good attitude about karate. But when she came to Action, she said this is the place for me! I like it here, can we stay? We stayed and I can see how much she has grown in her work ethic, her confidence in herself has blossomed, she is more focused at karate and at school, she wants to teach others the techniques, she loves the lessons shared each week, and she has become more competitive. I love the concerned her instructors have for the children. She was absent one week and received an email and a call from Mr. Brenner concerned that she was missing from class. So impressive! I cant say enough about Mr. Brenner, Mr. McQuade and Miss Mandi they are really great people who have inspired my child and for that I am grateful. She is going after her Junior Black Belt on June 3, 2017! As we say at Action Karate-Cinnaminson, AWESOME!!! This is the place to be!

Along the way, we have made many new friends and learned the importance of showing respect to others. With a variety of classes offered 6 days per week, 12 months per year, there is no off season. Physically he has improved his fitness through his exercises, healthy eating challenges and marital arts training. Mentally, I have seen him become more confident, more disciplined and have better self-control. He also has continued to grow in his leadership skills, his respect of others and kindness to others. The sacrifice of time, cost and travel for him to continue over these last 3 years, I feel has been worth it. I absolutely recommend this karate school to all parents for their children. The owners/instructors are amazing (Mr. McQuade and Mr. Brenner) as well as their staff. My son started attending class after Mr. McQuade taught a free sample class at our local library. My son was reluctant to try, but we went and he got his free 2 weeks to try it out. He was quickly sold and wanted to continue. Since then, he has gone from a white belt to now testing for his junior black belt. He has joined the Black Belt Leadership Team and enjoys assisting the instruction of the younger children (Ninja Sharks class). His hope is to someday work beside Mr. McQuade and Mr. Brenner at the school as a lead instructor. He has grown tremendously in the areas of self-control, focus, and confidence. He loves competing at the Action Karate tournaments, and he almost always comes home with a trophy or medal. This past tournament he tried sparring for the first time, and although he lost he is already excited to dust himself off and compete again. If you are on the fence, go in and observe and speak to Mr. McQuade or Mr. Brenner--I do not think you will be disappointed!!

My favorite part has been watching my son help his fellow students practice and offer positive and constructive feedback.I would reccommend Action Karate Cinnaminson to any parent that wants their child to become more focused, positive, better self esteem, and overall have them grow as a person.

Families enroll children in martial arts for a variety of reasons, but we enrolled our very independent 5-year old son to learn about following rules and respecting boundaries. Throughout the past two years at Action Karate Cinnaminson, weve seen him grow tremendously in this area, as well as developing coordination, strength and stamina. The staff at AKC are unbelievably patient and incredibly positive: Ive taken more than a few of the lessons in the Ninja Shark (4-6 year olds) and General class (7-11 year olds) to heart myself, and have used their strategies for positive reinforcement in numerous situations outside of those walls. With Mr. Brenner and Mr. McQuade at the helm, the team of instructors do an amazing job making every student feel valuable and successful, each in their own way, while somehow still employing the Action Karate method. It is a joy to watch the junior instructors grow as they develop leadership skills and pass them onto a younger generation of martial artists. The benefits of being part of the Action Karate Cinnaminson family far outweigh the fact that we drive past three other karate schools to get there. Yes, its more expensive than some other activities, but as with so many other things in life, you get what you pay for - and in this case its quality. ASAH!

Our son Kaden began his karate journey at Action Karate Cinnaminson 5 years ago. When he was in preschool action karate visited his school and did a week-long class for students at the school. At the end of the week we came to Action Karate where the parents were able to see what the students learned during the week. At that time we asked Kaden if he wanted to sign up and attend classes every week. He has been going to Action karate ever since. There were some early struggles as Kaden didn’t always follow the instructions or give his best effort. The instructors continued to encourage Kaden to do his best and told him they knew he could do better. As time went on Kaden began to become more focused and really began to enjoy what he was learning during he karate classes. Right before Kaden turned 5 years old he attended his first karate tournament and he was very nervous to get into the ring and perform his Kata. He did his best and we were so proud of him. Kaden has continued to attend tournaments and each time you could see his confidence growing more and more. He has won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals as well as trophies during his tournaments. Kaden is now progressed to the point to where he will be testing for his junior black belt in June. As parents it has been exciting to watch him grow as a person and a karate student. Karate has helped Kaden improve his self-confidence, discipline and his public speaking. Signing Kaden up for karate was a great decision and we are so proud of him. His sister Kendall has followed in his footsteps as she is 6 years old and has been doing karate for 3 years. I would encourage parents of young children to explore karate as an activity for your child. It has been so helpful in our kids development.

James Sewells perspective:My children began their martial arts journeys 3 years ago at the end of 2015, and now my daughter will soon be testing for her Junior Black Belt. At first Vivian was very enthusiastic, for karate class gave her an outlet for energetic expressions of her personality. She performed her katas, combinations and techniques with great and obvious dexterity. She demonstrated high energy, even to the point of being used as an occasional example for the way to do things. For quite a while it seemed as though she wanted to be that example, even helping out with the younger kids classes . At her first tournament she took first place in her kata and combination. Her martial arts future looked quite promising. Then came the day she committed herself to Black Belt Leadership and the acquiring of her Junior Black Belt. It was a hard decision, because devoting that much time to one thing is daunting for most children. Still, she chose to continue on, and while she has stayed on the path, its been a bumpy one.Over time her enthusiasm has waned, as can happen with any child. Some days she is reluctant to attend classes. Other days can be an outright struggle. Some days she returns to that old excitement, and its on those days when I feel like the lessons from Action Karate have taken hold on some level. Perseverance is stressed almost everyday, and Vivian is persevering. She understands her commitment and is trying to see it through to a major achievement in her Junior Black Belt. The support of her instructors has been essential in her discipline, and has been most gratifying to see. The life lessons Action Karate includes in their classes are of equal importance to the physical lessons, and Vivian has learned much and hopefully will continue to learn.

From my son Willie Julian,I started Action Karate when I was 6years old. On December 9th I am testing for my Junior Black Belt. I learned a lot from karate. Karate is not all about kicks, punches, self defense moves and katas. In karate, I learned about having self discipline and self control, focus, respect, perseverance, and commitment (never giving up!). We also did fun nutrition challenges, and learned how to be done with bullying! I am very proud of myself for reaching this goal. It was not an easy journey, but with a lot of hard work and commitment, I did it! My Mom and Dad are super proud of me too!Part of also preparing for my Black Belt Test, I had to do a project called the “link in the chain.” Since martial arts has been passed down to others by Black Belts, I passed my knowledge about what I learned to my classmates in school. I did a presentation all about my journey and what I had learned throughout my training. I even got them involved by teaching them 2 self defense moves and having them demonstrate it back. I think they had so much fun that day! It made me feel so proud that I was able to pass down a little bit of what Martial Arts is all about to my friends!Willie Julian Ruiz  — Action Karate Cinnaminson November 8, 2017 a

Over the years there have been many ups and downs with his training and him wanting to quit. He has learned to work hard and not give up. He has shown a lot of growth in his attitude when having to deal with new things. On some occasions Dylan will still get frustrated while on the mat but once he masters the new concept he can work through it. I had recently taken her to the neurologist and the results are astonishing. Her neurologist was very pleased with her. I told her she has been in karate since age 6 and she told me that is why she is so healthy now. Action has actually changed our life as a family. My daughter used to cry easily and be afraid all the time when she was younger. She no longer if afraid. she is so confident in herself because she learned at Action to never give up! Ive been training at Action Karate Cinnaminson with my family for the last 4 years, and am about to test for my black belt. It started as why not stay for adult class since were already here for the kids, and then became part of our weekly schedule. I trained throughout my last pregnancy (earning my next belt only 3 days before going into labor), and throughout the process, the instructors were nothing but supportive and positive influences, helping me with any modifications I needed to make to the evenings workouts. Not everyone in class is at the same level physically, but no one is ever made to feel like they are less important than anyone else on the mat. Coming from someone who was never very athletic, that continued support and enthusiasm is what kept me coming back week after week. Throughout injuries and maternity leave, from white belt up to red/black belt, I have felt support coming from everyone I’ve worked out with. We have been taken in like family, and I can’t imagine not having Action Karate Cinnaminson as a place to go after a hard day at work, where I can sweat out whatever is stressing me, or get my heart pumping after being stuck behind a desk for 8 hours. This has been a great group to find, and I’m still amazed that I’ve been able to come this far.
