I am not even the type to complain but If I could have left a zero star I would. I didn’t even get a picture of the horrible job- I just immediately asked them to take it off. The “massage” part of the manicure lasted about 10 seconds and the paint job was horrible!! I would avoid at all cost! Honestly you can make your nails look better at home! The picture attached is after I had them take off the polish. They also did not offer me a refund.

It was a good experience. I will visit Modern Nails Salon again. The staff was very friendly. The services were good too (pedicure).

Do not go here. I received a regular manicure/pedicure which they list on their menu ( not gel or acrylic). In less than than 24 hours the pedicure was fine but almost every nail had major chips and peeling. I had a family wedding to attend the next day and was so embarrassed about my nails. I went in to complain and ask for a refund just for the shoddy manicure and they claimed it chipped and came off because I did not get a gel manicure and that is normal for a regular manicure. I have had regular manicures for over 50 years and never once did my nails look worse in less than 24 hours. There was obviously an omission in the application or something went wrong. They couldn’t have cared less. How pitiful to not stand behind a service you you list and charge $25 for. Take it off your service menu! I was also treated rudely...the first sign that this place has extremely poor customer service. I will obviously never go back and would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

My second bad experience was last July I took my mom to get a mani & pedi for her wedding. I didn’t want to return to this salon after my experience with the manager (Tina) cursing me out the last time I was there, but the nail salon I normally go to on the lower level was not opened and they do a good job & they are more respectful to they customers.They girl who did my mom nails ( forgot her name, she was a young college student, she’s very talkative & wears glasses and have bad acne ) was really nice to my mom and I until it was time to pay and she said a rude comment after I paid $85 for my moms mani & pedi. She implied the name on my card said ( DO NOT SPEND) and a girl signing in heard her & started laughing. Again I was embarrassed and regret spending my money here & giving them another chance after I was treated poorly the first time. Never again

My first bad experience was last December me & my fiancé walked in, he got a basic pedicure ($40) and I was gonna get a new set umbre. They had me sitting and soaking for over a hour and it was past the time to take them off. They had just opened and they wasn’t busy and had several nails tech just sitting around on they phones and all of them acted like i wasn’t there for over a hour. The manager ( TINA ) walked over to me and asked me my name and then started cursing me out in her language I was so embarrassed all the over nail techs looked like they was scared of her and didn’t want to say nothing. Finally I let my tech removed my old set and I left without getting my nails done.

Honestly, for what I paid, I feel the quality should have been better. My cuticles didnt get any attention, and my nails are chipping on the side after less than a week. I felt rushed, and they rushed thru the process

Ive been here a few times now... first few times, I would be sure to tip... but I noticed that they are very rude no matter what... pricey, condescending, and impatient. Not to mention the super long wait times... only to be treated like youre not even a person.I just wanted to do something nice for myself and my family...but now its just money wasted and added stress when theres already so much stress on my plate from 2020 and 2021....I dont even want to get my nails anymore... Im scared that Ill just be treated like this everywhere.Please... just save your money. If you find a nice place that treats you well, let me know!

Ive used this salon a couple times with great service but today I signed in and watch a couple people go ahead of me.. So I left and we to Sophias and the service was so much better.

I have used their services. Few employees are good but they are very rude and simply vibes are not good. I did pedicure and it was the worse experience. That lady didn’t do anything much. Very bad.

I got a fill in and repairs that I was amazed she fixed very well. They are gorgeous. The lady told me her name but I forgot. They talked the whole time in their language. It was annoying because she spoke English well and she couldve engaged with me more. She also took a facetime call while working. It didnt slow her down. I did feel it was unprofessional. I was going to get a pedicure by someone else but one pointed me out and said thats your next pedicure then they laughed and spoke in their language. Im playful but not with money. Ill get my feet done elsewhere.

My wifes nails were beautiful

We were told it would be a 15 minute wait, it ended up being an hour wait, which was fine. We got manicures and pedicures. My pedicure was painful, he left nail polish all over my toes and there are still clumps of polish all over my toes now. I told the owners daughter when we were paying and she said she could take $5 off for the inconvenience. Not wanting to make a scene I paid. I looked at my toes again and I just could not justify spending $50 on a pedicure that looks like it was done by a 2 year old. The owner was so rude to me and told me that they “don’t refund money. What”. Do not go here. They are unprofessional, rude and disrespectful.

DO NOT GO HERE! I GOT A FUNGUS FROM MY MANICURE. I had my gel on for about two weeks when I noticed my thumbnail was unusually tender. When I took the polish off it was disgusting. I now have to get antibiotics and anti-fungal cream from my doctor to try and get rid of the fungus. On top of this, the staff was very rude and rushed me through the entire mani/pedi as fast as possible. My toes looked terrible. I could see the different layers of paint where she didn’t take the time to paint the whole nail. It chipped within a week.

They charged me $97 for this set and it’s crooked the diamonds are poorly designed on the nail and when I mentioned it they brushed me off and told me it was cute 🙄

Never in my life have I walked out of a nail salon crying. They are so rude and do not know how to talk to their customers.

Let me start with saying I love my nails! I was referred by a complete stranger whose nails I saw in a completely different mall that I fell in love with. The nail design is called pink & white ombre with coffin shape. My first visit was great and I was extremely happy. I paid via cash & the remaining balance on my card because I wanted to give Joe (nail tech) a healthy tip due to me absolutely loving my nails. My next visit is where the issue began. I was rudely accused by Tina (owner) & Joe (nail tech) for not paying for my previous visit. I have never been so insulted in my entire life! When I explained that I thought the confusion may have been using multiple payment methods I was accused of not paying anything and walking out. When I pulled up my credit card statement online to show a charge for their establishment, they began to try to change the story still accusing me but now making no sense at all. I was never offered an apology for being wrongly accused. If it wasn’t for my nails being so nicely done I would never return. If anything else negatively happens I will be forced to take my business elsewhere. It is so sad how their customer service is when the work is such a great job. If not for being accused of stealing I would have easily given a 5 star rating. Even if an apology would’ve been offered once being proven wrong, I could move past the situation because we’re all human and everyone makes mistakes. But when an owner or employee can’t admit when a mistake has been made, that’s not good business. For some reason is not uploading the pictures of my credit card statements showing the charges for Modern Nails. It’s only showing the pictures of my nails. I’ve uploaded 4 pictures.

Tina the owner is always in a rush! she did my nails so poorly I made her fix them but I was still very dissatisfied! she got very mad about it, then charged me 100 dollars for a fill in and toe polish. I just came back at 5pm they close at 7 and are not busy at all now and she tells me they are booked! I’ve never had a problem with any of the other techs always great but I will not come back or recommend because of her! Also she’s always talking bad about her customers and she thinks it’s funny!

My manicure began with one of the owner’s daughters; she was amazing. However, she had to leave to work with another client and was replaced by another technician. She put on one coat went on after another without any time to dry. This second person took far less time to put on four coats of polish then the technician who did my daughter’s nails with two coats.When the technician finished, she led me to a drying table but didnt bother to see if the dryer was on.After about 10 minutes, my daughter, who’s nails were started the same time as mine, joined me. Her technician ensured the dryer was on.When my nails were dry, I saw polish on my thumb and cuticles. Another technician cleaned them up. Within an hour, they already had one chip (and I was extremely careful).I don’t doubt the second technician may have been having a bad day. While I am sorry for this, I was hoping my manicure would last at least two days with careful use of my hands.

Terrible. Filed my cuticle so far down they bled. Pictures enclosed. Pinky started bleeding 2 days later while I was working.

They did a great job, I will be going back.

I’ve had my nails done here multiple times, and they only come out right half of the time. The manicure was very messy, and there was excess gel left on the skin around my nails. When I brought this to the tech’s attention, she blamed her messy work on my nails, because they’re short. I do not recommend this salon unless you want a botched job and attitude from the staff.

Very nice place and very convenient, I like going to the mall once or twice a month and get my SnS and pedicure done here. Julie is my favorite but all the technicians here are very experienced and professional.

It is sad because I really love the way heidi and Tina do nails but my last experience ruined it for me ever coming back. Heidi is rude. I just dealt with it because I like the way she does nails, but I much rather spend my money with someone who appreciates my business. I scheduled an appointment with her for Saturday at 2 when I got there she acted like she had no clue of my appointment or that she talked to me. When I tried to remind her of my conversation with her and that I actually wanted to come on Friday but she specifically told me to come on Saturday at 2 p.m. she just ignored me and kept continuing to do nails. Tina response was this is why we dont like scheduling appointments on Saturday as if it was my fault they scheduled an appointment with me and did not remember. I would never come to a mall on a Saturday to get my nails done because I know how packed the mall is on Saturday so I specifically scheduled an appointment so I would not have to wait. She said she had two people in front of me and really did not care about how she inconvenienced me. No one was apologetic and nobody cared so I walked out and I will never return. I could care less how good she is at Nails I spend at least $100 every two weeks on my nails and feet and my money is going to go where I am appreciated. Never will I spend my money at Modern Nails again.

The salon was busy as I stopped by. I just put my name on the signing sheet and went shopping around the mall and asked them to call me when my turn was up. This salon provides good products and services.

Worst place ever customer service sucks Tina the manager is racist , she act like African Americans is beneath her , she don’t want to do their nails . Sin , Molly are the best in there but they act rasict now as well . It will be empty in there and Molly and Sin well say their booked (lying) and will trying to push u off to one of those non experienced nail techs . I see why their rating sucks. I had my whole family and all my friends going to Molly and Sin and the nerve of them to act like they don’t want to service me . We’re the reason they have as much Clientele as they do rather they know it or not . They really need to be reported to the better business bureau and I just might be the one to do it right alone with reporting their asses to immigration

I went in for a pedicure on Saturday. The salon was busy but not excessively so. Nail technician #2 took me back to the chair. She was brusque when filling the bowl. I said it was too cool and she made a big deal out of removing some of the water to add more hot. Then the chair was all the way back and I had to stretch to reach the footrest. I am not a short woman. The water circulation was not working in the bowl where my feet were. #2 tried several times to get it working but to no avail. So my feet sat in dirty stagnant water for the duration. I felt like #2 had more important things to do rather than attend to me. It was a very hurried pedicure. She cut the nail on my big toe just fine on the left foot but my right big toenail is excessively shorter. When she was removing dead skin from the bottom of my feet she cut me on the side of the foot with the cheese grater which I despise anyway. No apology. The thin rubber flip flops they give you are reused. She had to brush debis off and then flipped it over to make me think(?) it was new and/or clean.I have been getting my pedicures at Modern Nails for numerous years. I’ve noticed that with each visit the condition of the salon had deteriorated since the previous visit. The equipment is in poor repair. There are piles of stuff behind all the chairs. I am pretty sure none of the tools are being cleaned and autoclaved between clients. It is a sad looking excuse for a salon where you go to be pretty.I will not be returning to Modern Nails and I will not ever recommend this salon to any of my friends or family.

Happy to find them after shopping at the Kenwood mall! I have tried all the technicians and they are all very professional, and detailed. I switch back and forth between acrylics and SNS and both are beautifully done. Very clean and good quality nails salon.

They are not very friendly. The last time I was there on October 4th, I went for a pedicure and full set as it was my birthday weekend and I had some fun things planned. My pedicure was fine but the nail technician her name was Julie, she wasnt very friendly at all. I told her I wanted the clear acrylic overlay and she used the pink powder. I do like the pink and I get it sometimes but it wasnt what I asked for this time. She asked me to pay before she was done with my nails. Normally when I get the clear acrylic over lay they use the clear gel polish at the end to give it that shine. She didnt ask me when I told her what I wanted if I wanted the gel at the end and I just assumed that is what they all use. At the end she pulls out this regular bottle of clear polish and when I asked about the gel, she acted as though she was bothered and said it was more to use the gel polish and I had already paid. Well I wanted the gel at the end so she went ahead and used the gel. She should have asked me at the beginning what I wanted, she also should have waited until she was done before she had me pay and she should have used the clear acrylic like I asked in the beginning. The other issue I have is that the acrylic is now chipping and peeling off after 2 weeks. I have been getting the acrylic over lay for years and it has never peeled off. I should have went back and demanded they do my nails over but, my schedule wouldnt allow me to get back over there. Needless to say I will not be going back.

I went and got my nails done on 8/12/18. The lady who did my nails was so sweet! When I left I was happy with my nails, but I’m monday 8/13/18 I noticed my nails were starting to turn black and had these blackish bubble in them and one had chipped. I couldn’t go back yesterday and get them fixed because I worked all day. so I called them on Tuesday 8/14/18 and I was told they could fix all of my nails, so I get there and they tell me 10-15 minutes someone would be able to help me. Then I was later informed they could only fix one nail even though they were all messed up! I told them I couldn’t come back because I worked all day the next day and then I leave for my vacation the day after! I was then told by the lady in charge there was nothing they could do because they were “too” busy for me! I’ve been a loyal customer to them for 2 and half years now and this is the WORST customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life! They are too expensive for my nails to look the way they do! I WILL NOT return here!

I was at Kenwood Mall shopping for my birthday and wanted to get my nails done (full set) and I stopped in there. Boy I should have never went there!!!! I do not recommend this place because it was very dirty the lady that did my nails was rude, I believe she might have been the owner or manager anyways she was too busy looking over my shoulder to see what else was going in the shop. A customer kept on coming up she was upset because they had called her for her time to come in and get her nails done and she kept on putting her off saying 10 more minutes excetera. I was not impressed with my nails they was lifting after a week. I feel she rushed through doing my nail service, just to get that money and move on to the next customer!! I was just not impressed I will never go back.!!

I called this place seeing if they could do my nails for prom. They told me I didn’t even need an appointment and to just come in because they’re never busy so I decided I would go early. So I show up when the place is opening and they tell me I have to wait 30 minutes because the person who knows how to do the type of nails I wanted isn’t there yet. So I walk around the mall and shop for a half hour and come back to be told I still had to wait. The service in this place is terrible as there were at least 5 workers in there. In a nail salon, the entire staff should know how to do nails. It just isn’t organized well and most places do appointments for those reasons.

I almost skipped getting my nails done last night - I am so happy I did not. Last minute I walked by on my way out the door and saw a sign for the SNS sign and thought - hm lets try. I am so glad I did! I had a bubbly nail tech who I think might be the owners daughter. She is going to school at Xavier. Anyway - I had this done to my nails at another salon once and it was so thick it hurt to type. I am typing right now with ease adn I am pumped for life about my nails. Thank you so much and I will be back!

I was checked myself in and I sat and waited for over an hour while they let the people who checked in after me go.

Disappointed! Took 2 hours and 25 minutes to get a pedicure and SNS. I was passed over twice for the next technician when I was next in line. Manager did not apologize or offer me any compensation. I wont go back.

Very dissatisfied! I went with my mom to give her and myself relaxing experience but just reverse happened.They use very cheap products just after 4 hrs of manicure the nail paint started chipping. I have better nail polish at home.Don’t try there royal or higher pedicure they use very basic products for the price they charge,nothing is royal about it.Overall experience was so bad that I never want to go back. They are just in rush of completing with less detailed work and jumping to next customer. Also was very unclean chairs and equipment.PS: just see the shellac UV light machine. Omg I would have puked.

This place is absolutely horrible I do not recommend at all and from the reviews a lot of others dont either so please dont watse your time or money. Getting your nails or toes done should be a pleasant and relaxing experience but here is very noisy, chaotic and dirty with rude customer service. This place should be shut down immediately. Tina (owner) and Amy (nail tech) are extremely rude and unprofessional and need training in the customer service dept. Unfortunately you have to give at least 1 star 0 sadly is not an option.

I had an appointment but it didnt really matter to them. The lady that did my nails rushed through it and tried to pressure me to get a more expensive option. The nail polish was old and almost empty so color didnt go on smooth. Almost sat me and my mother in law away from each other. Probably wont go again.

I will never return. The whole time the woman doing my pedicure kept trying to up-sell me. I had to wait 45 minutes between services and they say people who were there after me in this time. They put my hands in laundry detergent caps to soak off my sns and I had three nails chip in the first 4 days. Literally my whole pedicure was chipped off by then too. Called and came and got it fixed and the lady painted over the existing, chipped polish. Said it chipped because it was not gel. I’ve had enough pedicures in my life to know it is not going to chip in a couple days with regular polish. I appreciate Tina the manager trying to fix the situation but for the 90 dollars it was a horrific experience and I will not return.

Best in town. Tina is always wanting to make sure her customers are happy. I read a review that bothered me that the owner screams at her employees that is so false. If you dont understand their culture dont critic it. The owner is extremely fair to their employees and goes out of their way for them. Sad to read people say things like this and be so judgmental. One of the worst manicures and pedicures I’ve ever had. As far as the pedicure goes, when I got home, I noticed that a piece of filed mail or something was painted into the polish on one toe, creating a sharp point on the top of the nail bed. The middle toe on my left foot looked odd, and when I looked more closely, only the bottom half was painted, with clear coat running over the top of my toe and peeling up like a giant flap of skin. On the same foot, she painted half of the pinky toe. Neither foot had dead skin removed, which was part of the reason I went to begin with—and for $46, I’d assume that would be part of a pedicure. Even worse, I paid extra for shellac, so I can’t even get the stuff off.The manicure is no better. I did shellac as well, and had to ask the woman to redo two of the nails because they were covered in what looked like air bubbles. The ends of my nails are all extremely rough, with clear coat all over my skin. It’s only been an hour or so and the polish at the tip of the middle finger on my left hand is visibly coming off. The pinky on my left hand is filed at a diagonal. Since all of the nail ends are so rough, I expect most of the color to be chipping by tomorrow.When all was said and done, I spent about $130 for this mess, and now I’ll be heading to a salon while I’m out of town this weekend to spend even more having this mess removed. Slapping a clear coat on my hands and Chanel on my toes while buffing my heels at home would’ve been a better investment with a better outcome.

Giving a 1 star is even more than this place deserves. A couple friends and I went in today for a pedicure- all getting the same. I did not get half of the pedicure I was supposed to. When it came time to pay I told the lady that did mine that I wasnt paying full price for a half pedicure her reply was “you weren’t paying attention I didn’t think you wanted it”. So apparently make sure you’re paying attention so they know you want the service you are paying for.
