I was having battery issues with my laptop and did not have the correct screwdriver to open up my laptop to access the battery at home, so I ask if he can reset my battery for me. In case you didnt know, resetting the battery is a very simple process that deals with unplugging the battery, holding down the power button for about 30 seconds, and plugging the battery back into the laptop. Instead of him doing this for me (which was done for free at a different geek squad), I am told I most likely have a charging port or motherboard problem that will take upwards to $700 to fix (I have no idea where he got that from). He then tries to persuade me to buy a $200 tech support plan, a new $1200 laptop to replace my old one, and suggested I get a $100 data transfer.I immediately go to Harbor Freight to buy a fancy screwdriver set for $6, reset my battery myself in 3 min, and it works just fine. Either they had no idea what was going on, or they were trying to scam me $1500. I am honestly bewildered and hope to God they didnt trick anyone else into paying ridiculous amounts of money for such a simple issue.

They lied. Plain and simple. The associate that helped and the GM. Both said after looking at the laptop that it was a motherboard or a battery issue and it would take a little over a week. Called today to say it was ready and went to pick it up. They didn’t even look at it. Wasted our time. Associate who set original promise went straight to the back and hid when he saw us coming. Save your time and go somewhere else.

Wonderful--top notch service and so friendly! I am not sure why there are negative reviews. Perhaps those folks showed up, unannounced and did not take the time to make an appointment or realize the world does not revolve around them. Maybe they did not explain their problem or what needed to be fixed well enough to the staff in the first place. I called ahead and made an appointment; I had 5 devices to get serviced. I showed up on time (they had a reservation for me) and took care of things in a fast, friendly manner. The repairs were spot on perfect too! There were people that showed up as walk ins while I was waiting for my repairs to complete. You can see the schedule board prominently that showed when the next available appointment would be and who was on the list. The walk ins were throwing a fit that they could not be seen immediately but the staff there remained polite and calm. Make an appointment and youll be fine. Walk in and youre taking a risk of having to wait. Throw a fit, you will still be treated with respect; but those around you will realize you are a child.

Having worked in computer repair for years I got the warranty for my wifes computer so I wouldnt have to deal with it. Recently our computer broke down from a hardware issue, so after taking it in they claimed they were unable to find the issue and they would have to run tests that would cost extra. After taking it home to run everything on it myself I have taken it back several times and they have sent it off only to not repair the actual issue, after giving them extensive information and details as to what the exact issue is and what needs to be fixed. I will NEVER pay for their service EVER again, its a complete waste of money.

My girlfriend set up an appointment online with this location to get her samsung fixed. However when she got there they didnt have her appointment so they talked to her about her phone and set up a different day for her to take it back. Ill have you know she has her samsung with her when she set up this appointment. We drove out today for the appointment, once we got ther we waited 10 minutes after our scheduled appointment to get any service then we are told that they dont work on samsung products and that they dont even have the tools to fix it. Best buy in christiansburg needs to fix their lack of service within their geek squad. All could of been avoided had the person who set up the second appointment said that we dont fix samsung instead of making us believe that we could get it fixed there.

Took MacBook Pro in for repair. Onsite staff coudnt fix. Paid overnight fee to have it fixed quickly so student could return to college with it. Was called with a $695 estimate. Tried several times to get Geek Squad on the phone with a question before we decided what we would do. Could not get the Christiansburg store on the line. Had to go through Roanoke. We declined the repair and took it to a local repair person who fixed the issue (not the issue diagnosed by Geek Squad) for approximately $70. Will not return to Geek Squad at Best Buy.

If negative stars were a thing, they would certainly be used to review the Geek Squad in Christiansburg. This is the absolute worst place to take a product if you need it to be fixed for ANY reason. The staff is not only incompetent but rude. I was having screen issues with my Mac, so I took it in to see what they suggested. The agent DID NOT even look at my computer! I just told her what was going on, and she just said okay we can send it out for $35 for it to maybe be repaired. Being a college student, I had no choice but to send it off for repair. She told me it would take no longer than 3-5 days. A week and a half later with hardly any trace or notification on my device, I finally receive an email saying I needed to call to approve the estimate. This alone was a 35 minute process because of their USLESS automative system. When I finally got into contact with a human, they told me the repair was going to cost the same as buying a brand new Mac. So, I turned down the repair and asked to have it shipped back, once again they said it would take 3-5 days. My computer did not leave from the repair center until 3 DAYS later, (I turned down my estimate on a MONDAY and was told Id have it back by Friday or Saturday). So, it did not ship until THURSDAY, and was not at Best Buy until Monday. Luckily, I happened to check the status online and saw it was delivered to Best Buy in the morning, it was four oclock in the afternoon and I had not received a call or anything informing me my device was back. So, I go into Best Buy asking for my laptop, and the Geek Squad agent looks at me like I have five heads. He barely looked for my laptop, and turned to me and said, We dont have it. We would have called. I told him that they obviously did, because the status was delivered according to the UPS tracking system. After he actually spent time and looked for it, sure enough it was there. This was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with a company and company service, and will not be using them again. I strongly urge you to go ANYWHERE but here, try local places or another Best Buy because this place is a JOKE.

If only there was something like negative stars.This was one of those experiences where you feel angry and helpless when facing a big company like Bestbuy. I had taken my laptop to get the battery fixed which was not holding charge. My laptop was still under warranty from Lenovo and when I contacted Lenovo service center, I was given the option of Best buy geek squad as this would supposedly take less time. I took my laptop in and the geek squad agent at the counter said and I quote you dont need to backup your data as we would not touch the hard disk, so you can leave the box saying, back my data, unchecked. My laptop was taken in with an estimated repair time of 20 days. So 20 days later with no trace of the laptop whatsoever except for a generic message saying in for repair, I went into the store to inquire and they could not say anything except for a generic reply saying we have escalated the status of this repair. This kept on going for quite some time before they finally admitting that they may have lost the laptop and when asked if they would replace it, the manager in a very strong voice said that I can buy a new laptop and return it later if my laptop is found because they cannot declare it to be lost before 2 months. This to and fro went on for another 30 days and finally one fine day my laptop was shipped directly to home (not the store as it was supposed to be). I turned it on and voila, the hard disk is wiped clean with windows downgraded to windows 8.1 from 10. The manager of the store was so helpful that he almost convinced me to buy a new version of Windows 10 claiming that they would not provide any support in restoring or even attempting to restore my softwares/data (I am a PhD student and all my work and data was on that laptop). Luckily some of my data was on Google drive. So yeah, they have all this conditions in fine print at the time you hand over your laptop. They are no way responsible for any damage. I know that some one from Best buy would read this and maybe report this post saying nothing like this happened but I have all the proof. So, I STRONGLY URGE PEOPLE TO NOT GO TO THE GEEK SQUAD IN CHRISTIANSBURG. They are super useless and the manager is the rudest and most unhelpful person I have seen even when it is their fault. To give then some credit, the service center in Kentucky could actually repair the laptop but still to this day, I am clueless to why my hard disk was wiped.

DO NOT GO HERE. I sent my computer out to get its screen fixed and it cost me almost more then a new computer, and that was after I waited a month for them to fix it!!!
