On 08/08/2016 Paradise Post, Paradise, California, ran an article titled Man denies dog theft allegation in which Frank Panek takes a little grain of truth and adds a lot of lies, resulting in a fictional account of his attempt to steal my pet Tess. I have the papers to prove many of those lies, many with Nina Panek’s signature. The first lie is that he and his wife Nina manage Acres of Paradise Mobile Home Park; Nina Panek is the only manager (yes, I have a letter from her stating that fact very clearly) and Frank Panek is a resident. I moved into this park with Tess 7 years ago and they have seen her several times, have a picture of her, and all her information.Tess slipped out of the house, lay down in the sun in the road, and was found by a neighbor (I heard nothing; no car horn, knock on my door, calling out, etc.). She took Tess to Nina Panek, so she could return her to her owner. I was in tears when I couldn’t find Tess that night; she’s always by my side (yes, even in bed). Next morning I saw the neighbor and found out where Tess was, immediately driving to the manager’s home to get her. Nina’s husband, Frank Panek, answered the door and when I said I understood he had my Tess his reply was “well, she’s mine now.” I said she was mine and I wanted her back, he still wouldn’t return her. I said I’d call the police, and he started to rave that if I did he’d call the Humane Society and say Tess was an abused animal. She isn’t and I have the vet visits to prove it. I called the police who got Tess back for me and I signed a “complaint” against Frank Panek (though I also hold Nina Panek responsible since she was there and did nothing to help me). That’s the simple truth; no elaboration needed.Paradise Post didn’t contact me, I’ve called them twice, but have been unable to speak with the editor or have him call me back. I guess he doesn’t want to affect their biased viewpoint by running my story.According to their story it’s up to the District Attorney whether Frank Panek is charged with the attempted theft of Tess; we’ll have to see if anything happens. Theft of people’s pets is happening more frequently, and for several reasons (including lab research). However, if there is not sufficient punishment for the crime, thefts will continue to increase. I was surprised, but glade to hear pet theft is considered grand theft in California.Tess is a family member, loved and cared for; and not mistreated in any way. I’m so glade to have her back, and she’s happy to be home (though it took 3 weeks for her to return to her usual self).

It is all but and may be actually impossible to talk to a human being other than a classified ad taker when you call in to the Paradise Post. I would give it a minus star if I could.

Though the offices are closed, the paper is still available. An asset for local events and info affecting the community.
