Moved to Chico 3 years ago and Barber John’s is the first and only barber I plan on going to.I’ve had my haircut by Sean probably 30-40 times now and have never once left unhappy. Sean always makes sure my haircut is exactly how I want it and always does an amazing job. He’s super friendly and genuinely just a good chat while getting your haircut. The rest of the staff is also super nice and it seems like everyone leaves happy regardless of who their barber is.Haircuts are super reasonably priced at only 16$ for an amazing cut, I plan on having Sean as my barber as long as I live in Chico.If you need a good haircut I’d definitely stop by Barber John’s.Thanks for all the good haircuts Sean, cya next month!- Dalton

Great fun little barbershop

After 3 years living in Chico I finally found the place to cut my hair. Sarah did a faded exactly how I asked her, different from other places where they think they know a lot and don’t listen to the customer.

So I have not always been very good at knowing what kind of haircut I want or even how to describe it. I made an appointment online (this is important because of how busy it can get) after looking through the numerous amounts of places in Chico and I decided I would go here. Veronica is the one who worked with me and I can gladly say she did an amazing job! I was pretty vague on what I was looking for, again Ive never been good at the haircut stuff, and she knew precisely what to do. The price is also very affordable, which is another amazing thing about this place. I can guarantee I will be going to The Original Barber Johns from now on for my haircuts.

Before getting my hair cut at barber johns, I would sit on a public bench and people would toss me their loose change. Now I have to walk around with a stick to beat off the swarms of women. Not really. But they did make a ginger look good, so 5 stars.

Barber greeted me as I walked into the establishment. She was finishing up sweeping her area from the last client. I asked for her to not cut any off the top, a 1/2 off the back and blocked off, and off the ears. Upon inspection in the mirror, I was extremely satisfied! Even left a $4 tip which came to a total of $20. You have my business!

I just started going to Barber Johns and I am really happy about my experience. It has a good atmosphere and the people there are super chill. I didnt get cut up by a barber but next time I am going for the straight blade shave and hair cut. Good value and great haircut.

I suck at getting my hair cut. Never really sure what I want, I put it off too long and i usually tell whoever I get to kinda just go for it. Even with very vague instructions Veronica nailed it! Your mileage may vary; theres a lot of different barbers and stylists working here, each w their own style and preferences. That said most of them are decent, the reservation process works well, and the overall experience is pleasant and easy going.

I can’t comment on the other barbers but as for the older female barber, very disappointing service to be frank about it. Went in for a bald fade that was anything but bald; I found myself correcting it at home and shaving noticeable left over stubble. Don’t even get me started on the line-up, I’m just thankful my hair line will grow back.

I fancy myself a love a of a stable haircut. I want my hair cut the same every time. I searched around in Chico and had my hair cut terrible three different times. After going to Barber Johns they wrote down how they cut my hair so that I get the same cut every time. This is the place for me and I would recommend it to others!

Been coming here a few times, decent haircuts. But today will be my last, and I didnt even get a chance to have a haircut done. Made an appointment (pretty much requisite) and arrived early. Barber I was reserved with was cutting the hair of a small boy, said he was running behind. I said ok, I can wait a little while. Two other barbers were not with customers, waited over 20 minutes and not once was asked if I wanted to have my hair cut by another person. Then a walk-in came and was seated right away. No point in making appointments if the place cant schedule correctly of provide basic customer service. I walked out.So long, Barber Johns. Theres plenty of other head hunters in this town of equal quality, you can find me in one of your competitors from now on.

The only place I trust to get my haircut. Low prices. Top notch haircuts. Real barbers. The place is apart of the community. And if you dont feel comfortable talking sports, style or life in general you should probably go else where. Best barber shop in Chico let alone the central NorCal area.

Came here because Chicos Barbershop let me sit there for 15 minutes before telling me they werent going to help me... Called Barber Johns and got right in. They were friendly, I got a great haircut, cost was on par with other shops in Chico. Definitely check them out.

After a bad experience at a different barber in town my freshman year, I took my business to Barber Johns and Ive been going there ever since (3 years now). Friendly barbers, good price. I love that they keep your haircut on file, I usually cant remember what I get between visits!

I would not recommend this place to anybody. My poor husband came home from this place with an awful awful bull cut. We had to shave his whole head because they made a huge bald spot above of his ears and we could not have him looking like a fool on Christmas so it had to be shaved. We even showed the barber a photo of what he wanted and that was ignored. It was bad all around. It was cheap but you get what you pay for.

Ive been getting my hair cut the same way with the same instructions for 10 years, with people all over the state, some are barbers, some are saloon folks. Most have done, ok, some have done great. Jons has been the worst of any place I have ever been. Facts: Not once did the barber pick up scissors to do anything to my hair... that has not happened to me... ever. It has taken 3 weeks for my hair to be anywhere near decent. If you dont want to have a choice about how your hair is cut or what it looks like, then Jons is the place for you. If you want a decent hair cut that you dont mind being seen with in public, try another place.

This is one of the best barber shops in town and one of the best I have ever been to. You can call or make appointments online. Walk-ins are accepted too, but do yourself a favor make an appointment. The prices are amazing especially for a hot lather shave haircut combination. They are CASH ONLY, but an atm is on site. Phil is my barber though they have several great barbers including Fern. Sports are usually on the 2 tvs, WiFi is available, predominately American Crew products are used, open Saturday & limited hours Sunday. My only complaint is parking lot can be small, more parking is available though. Make sure you are on time!

This is the second time that Ive gone to barber jons, the second time that ive gotten the blond lady, and the second time ive been disappointed with my cut. They dont face you towards the mirror so you cant even see what theyre doing until theyre already done. I havent gotten my hair cut in a month and I asked for a zero on the sides with a taper. I walked out not even knowing if she cut my hair at all. Needless to say, Im not going back.

I am a skeptic when it comes to barber shops, and I usually have the same guy(Chase) cut my hair at Ricks Salon in Santa Cruz. That being said I was met with the dilemma of where to get my hair cut in chico. Well Barber johns is probably as good as its going to get for 16 dollars. Aside from a few minor mess-ups, both the times I have been there I have left satisfied. They know what they are doing and they keep a record of what they did to your hair. This place is great for simple haircuts(any regular mens haircut), they will not let you down, however, for more complicated haircuts like mine, it can be tough to explain to them what you actually want, and not all of the employees will know how to cut really obscure haircuts. Overall though for anyone who isnt obsessed with their hair it is a good bet. If you are really reaally particular, dont get a 16 dollar haircut, though you might still be satisfied with Barber Johns. Overall a great value, and a quality haircut.
