I went for manicure and pedicure. I tried many times to tell the lady that I had surgery on my toe for an ingrown. I tried to explain at least three times. She nodded. When she began work in my toe, she cut deeply into the area where the surgery was and not only was it painful, I’m afraid it’ll become ingrown again by the way she cut it. I tried to explain to the other person what happened and he said this is no high class place. It takes $25,000 for someone to speak English and that she hears “ingrown” and immediately proceeds to cut deeper into the nail bed. I tried and tried to explain that it’s not about “high class”, just that next time, if she sees someone repeatedly trying to explain something she maybe should ask him what is being said. Well he ran me out making me wrong for the lady not speaking English. I get it, I’m an immigrant who had to learn English and I know the struggle but this was NOT about that. He totally shamed me making hand gestures an night pitching his voice about “high class expectations” I just wanted a pedicure for the first time in 8 months since my ingrown nail surgery and she completely ruined it may become ingrown again. She also cut my healthy nails very round even though I told her keep it on the straight side to AVOID INGROWN NAILS 🥲 I’m adding a photo of my badly cut healthy nail and of the newly grown nail that she completely cut all over. I’ll also add an extra photo to show how nails should be cut. Bottom line, I question the experience and knowledge of this place for basic nail cutting. PLUS I got yelled at, he kept telling me this is not a high class place and English is a luxury. That’s not where I was going . I just would have appreciated the decency of her asking what I was trying to tell her. He tried to really guilt me and made fun of me for trying to tell him that it’s not about “hig class” or understanding English. It is simply about a person trying to tell another person something several times and the other person having the interest to find out what the other person is trying to convey. In this case, please don’t cut my nail in a curve!

I got a No chip manicure and a regular pedicure. The guy who did the manicure and probably owns the place did not do a good job and was rude to all the customers in general. The polish does not even cover the entire nail!!! Who wants to sit for an hour with the guy being rude. I left the place very agitated.The lady who did the pedicure was sweet and did a good job.

The absolutely most friendly nail salon ever! Im a Registered Nurse, here from Maryland to help with the citys covid overload. My hotel happens to be around the corner from Red Nail Salon so I decided to get a Mani and Pedi on my day off. Awesomeness!!! Visiting from out of town and read good reviews - tried to tell me I didn’t have an appointment, rushed through and cut my nails using the same clippers, filer, etc as the person before me. Cut my fingers in three different places, was bleeding for hours after. Final straw, price was not what was advertised on their site.

Did a great pedicure but they dont do acrylic nails, so I had to go to a different shop.

I just moved to the area and was so excited to try this salon because of the reviews and how close it is to my loft. Things were going well with my pedicure but when it got to the nails, things went south quickly. The technician could not perform an acrylic overlay calling it “old school”. I said he should have mentioned that he does not perform that service over the phone when I booked my appointment. He then began to yell—literally yell at me. I was in the salon alone and felt extremely uncomfortable. I wanted to leave SO badly, but in the moment was just unsure of what to do because I have NEVER been talked to in this manner at a professional establishment. Disappointed and disrespected doesn’t even come close to describing my experience. I will gladly pay the extra money for another nearby salon so I can be treated and talked to with respect.

Had a girls weekend planned and appointment made 10 days in advance. The owner claimed he ran out of gas and didn’t open until almost 2 hours late. When we came back, still not there. We left and went to a nearby restaurant. They tracked us down and asked us to come back later with another reservation. When we went back it was rushed and they only offered $5 off after we asked.

Went in for my first time last week for a gel manicure/pedicure. The girls did such a great job! I brought in a picture I found on pinterest and walked out with nails that looked even better than the photo. Best prices Ive seen in this area as well. Will definitely be my new go-to salon.

When I say the atmosphere was beautiful... believe me! 😊 I went in yesterday to get a pedicure and was introduced to a pedicure spa deluxe! It included so much! I’ve seen them done before, I just never had one. It was lovely! The customer service was amazingly beautiful! I’ve never done a review for a nail shop, not even the one in my neighborhood, and I’ve been going to them for about 3-4 years now! This new place was so pure and organic, I can’t describe the feeling, you’d have to go see for yourself ladies... and gentlemen lol! They’ve most certainly just gained a new customer! 💛

I appreciate both times I’ve called for an appointment and was told to come in around 10-1030 the next morning. Both times I’ve gotten the powder dip and have had great experiences both times. Both appointments I’ve loved my nails and left feeling better knowing they were how I liked/wanted. I’m near to the South Loop area (and Chicago in general) and I’m glad to have been able to find this salon :)

Great and friendly high quality service. I will definitely come back again. I had a mani pedi. A great variety of colors to pick from both gel and regular and all the equipment is new and very clean. Even USB ports in the massage chairs. Soothing atmosphere.

Went there twice with an my husband (an African man ) both times were absolute horrible, 2 person staff, a man & woman. I told him I wanted a soak off and a fresh over lay. He did the soak off but didnt do the over lay, he prepped my nail then began to polish so I asked him did he forget I wanted a over lay, he literally YELLED at me and said he doesnt do acrylic low class ghetto stuff because it causes fungus he wanted to put 10 coats of gel polish on to make my nails hard instead. My nails were already prepped n paper thin theres no way I couldnt went home like that I had to let him finish the job. He should of never told me ok and put me in a chair if he doesnt provide what I ask for (he understood completely there was no language barrier)

So much attention to detail and my nails look perfect! I got a full set with dip powder.

Used the same gloves and supplies (cuticle pusher, nail clippers) to do my nails as the girl next to me with no sanitizing in-between clients. Took 2 hours for just a dip manicure and I had an appointment. The final result was lumpy and uneven because he did not smooth nails out with a drill after applying dip powder. Will never go back.

I made an appointment for a manicure here. When I showed up for my appointment, they told me it would be an hour wait. When I asked why, as I had an appointment, I got no answer to that, and they just said “okay half an hour.” I ended up waiting a full hour anyways, and still was not seen, so I left. Let me tell you what happened. The service they provided was poor quality. They promised two week guarantee on their work so I called them. They advised I can go back and get them done for free. Only to get charged when I went back. They have most definitely lost my business.

Had a pedicure here and it was amazing. I just walked in and luckily they were able to seat me right away. (Monday- mid day). Great service. I will definitely come back next time I’m in Chicago.

Segi did such an amazing job job on my no-chip manicure. I am a very picky person when it comes to my nails but his attention to detail is unmatched. The salon is very clean and he doesn’t just re-use products like the others. The colors he has in his salon he gets before other places do and I love this new shade of white I’m now wearing! I only write negative reviews if it really deserves it and this is a salon that doesnt deserve business - at least not if things remain as is. Upon making a reservation for two people FIVE days in advance, my friend and I arrived at Red on time if not a few minutes early (6pm on a Wednesday). The first red flag was that there was only one customer and one employee. We had to wait roughly 20-25 minutes before ONE of us was seated. My no chip manicure, and only service of my appointment, did not begin until after 7:30pm. During that hour and a half waiting period, multiple customers came in and either complained and made a scene, or were turned away because again, there was only one employee. We were still charged full price - despite our nails being uneven and the single employee interrupting our conversation and/or complaining the entire time, all in addition to the excessive waiting. Last but not least, the employee took pictures of us and posted them on the website without asking, in which one photo included a credit card. It seems like this individual needs to take a business class and hire staff. We wont be returning and would greatly appreciate a refund.

The two women that did my friends and my nails did a good job, but the manager was horrible. We were left near the door and it was very cold without any shoes on and no one came to check on us. They did not use a dryer on our nails as other places would do and the manager started going through our purses for us to get our payment before our nails were even dry. I get the feeling that he was not happy that we didnt want ant upgrades and he warned us our nails would chip within a day or too if we did not upgrade. Well they rushed us out of the store before our nails were dry so they immediately smudged. We were sitting quietly and not acting in any way that would warrant this. Not worth the money.

So pleased with my gel no-chip manicure and my daughter’s powder dip manicure. Both were beautiful, the experience was enjoyable, and the cost totally reasonable. They welcome walk-ins, but I called ahead and there was no waiting. We won’t be going anywhere else from now on and we’re looking forward to pedicures! Highly recommend Red Nail Salon!

Ok, so here’s the thing. I went and my nails look great. BUT ... I had to wait almost an hour and a half. On top of that, one of the workers (the one who did my nails) actually got up from my manicure and started verbally fighting with a customer. My friend and I were extremely uncomfortable. After that, he was trimming my cuticles. He paused, looked at his own hand, and trimmed something on his. I wasn’t thrilled, but I just kept going, hoping he was done with the tool altogether. NOPE. A few minutes later he grabbed the same tool he had used on myself, then him, and used it on my nails again, without even cleaning it. I will not be returning to Red Nail Salon. I am thoroughly disappointed.

I’ve started getting manicures and pedicures late in life and this salon is the place for me. I love their chairs and the service is outstanding - you can tell they have a lot of experience. I also love the busy area that it is located in on Wabash in the South Loop - convenient when doing my other errands. I also had a hot stone massage the last time I was there and I’m now hooked.

Stumbled into this place after having breakfast in eleven city diner restaurant and had no chip manicure spa deluxe pedicure, it was best experience I ever had in nail salons. Entire Salon is clean and thousands of colors to choose from, my no chip gel manicure lasting 2 weeks already with no single nail color chipped. I recommend this place to my friends and anyone else.

Appointment at 2:30, put my feet in hot water and waited 25 minutes until he finally got to me. Had another appointment at 3 so he rushed my callous removal in less then 10 minutes. Put gel on my legs and told me to wait while he started helping the other guest...sitting there for an additional 20 minutes until I finally got up or I’d be there until they closed. Charged me $38 even though he said $32 over the phone. Told me to come back over the weekend for better service and he’ll have more people working...wow #Shooketh

I really don’t know how this place has high ratings. It was one of the worst nail salon experiences I’ve ever had. The man who I presume is the manager was trying to do three of our nails at once. The supplies did not appear clean. He wore the same gloves for me and multiple customers that were yellow from god knows what...He made me soak off my old acrylics (all 10 fingers) in an extremely small bowl meant for one finger (normally a nail salon wraps the individual nails), The place also had a weird odor. I paid 60$ and almost all my no-chip with powder nails nails are chipped. I don’t believe he applied the powder right either. I have never in my life written a google review, but the experience was just that terrible I felt the need to share. I recommend trying another salon nearby...

BEWARE! THE GOOD REVIEWS ARE MOSTLY FOR THE PREVIOUS OWNERS. I found that out the hard way. The amateur owner that sits by himself all day is awful. He does not know how to take off dip powder (pulled at it with nail clippers instead of filing the top off and then soaking it) and he broke my nails. When a customer came in to ask how much he would charge for a fill and told him it was too much he cursed her out and told her rent in Chicago is expensive no one will give you service like that. Which was super unnecessary. I left after his attempt to take off my dip powder started to hurt and nails were being broken. He cursed me out too and demanded I pay him for the removal even tho there was still cotton on my nails. Overall terrible experience, because of that man. They recently opened the salon under the new name and new management and all of these reviews are for the previous owner.

Made an appointment ahead of time to confirm pricing and have a specific time to go in. Walked in early with nobody in the salon. Two people were working and they put the next three people ahead of me that walked in. I waited for an hour before getting my nails done. Then once finished instead of it being the $25 that I was told on the phone it was $45. Will not go back.

Best pedicure i had here. The famale staff gave me the best hot stone massage on my legs, sea salt scrub was good exfoliating for my skin and pedi chair have massage goes on too. I love this South Loop neighborhood salon. Its located on a vibrant strip of Wabash and the place has great energy. From here, I can go across the street to my favorite deli for lunch. I didnt realize how bad my nails always looked until I started coming here - they perform miracles as to what they can do with my cuticles. The last time I went to Spa Nails I splurged and got a massage with hot stone treatment. Wow, now Im hopelessly hooked. One would be a fool to go anywhere but Spa.JG P

First of all, my nail tech did his best. However, sometimes the best just isnt well enough.My mother got a simple manicure with regular polish and she loved it so if youre looking for a simple manicure sure.I, on the other hand, get dip nail powder on my nails. I have a set of long natural nails that i take care of well. Im from Boston and usually get my nails done there but I decided to get them done here while I was visiting family. I will be comparing my experience here to my exp. in Boston.Usually in Boston to get the previous dip off they would file the top layer off a bit and then wrap each nail individually with cotton and aluminum foil. Here, I was asked to dip my nails in a bowl of acetone and then my nail tech disappeared for a while. There are a couple of reasons why you shouldnt do this. Acetone is very drying for your skin. Dipping your fingers in the solution for a long time (and i had to do it for 20-30mins and then again for another 20-30mins) actually hurts!! I think during the second round of the acetone bath my nail tech went to work on a different client (i saw him bent over at a pedicure station). My fingers started to burn. Acetone gets very cold and evaporates/dries very fast. Another thing about that is that acetone significantly weakens your nails!! Its different when you use the cotton/foil method because only the top of ur nails with the dip is getting dissolved. However, dipping ur entire nail in the acetone you can also harm the bottom of your nails.So my tech came back and started working on my nails again and i noticed he had on a glove that i feared was from the other clients pedicure treatment. I asked him to change it and he said that those were the gloves he had on when he was working on me initially. So he worked on my nails, went and worked on someone elses feet, then came back and touched my nails again. He did change his gloves after I asked though. But I shouldnt have had to ask.After the acetone bath treatment, my nails felt very thin and frail. Unfortunately, my one of my nails got too weak and broke (this nail was healthy and strong before). Although my tech said that it was broken from before but I really dont think it was.Now it came to actually applying the powder. I believe that they arent properly trained in this technique. After filing, Im usually asked to wash my hands to insure were applying the powder on clean nails and it honestly just feels good to have clean hands at that point. My nail tech just moved on to applying the powder. Heres where i really began questioning their techniques.For a light colored dip powder, you usually want to start by applying a layer of white dip as a bottom coat. Im not a nail tech but thats just how it was always done for me in Boston. Perhaps different salons use different techniques. This wasnt really an issue for me until after two coats of the dip you could still clearly see the line where my skin ends and you get the whiter nail on the tip. The nail tech did ask if I wanted a third layer but recommended against it or I might get chunkier nails. I decided not to because at this point I just wanted to leave. Usually in Boston, after a couple layers of dip powder theyll reshape them again.This wasnt done here and honestly wasnt necessary because there wasnt a base coat, only two layers of the colored dip. He couldve given me the extra layers to give me a more solid color and then shaped out the thickness.My dip powder manicure + my moms regular manicure came out to be 80$. Overpriced for the service I got. It seemed a bit understaffed, one other client was left with a single coat on her toes while my nail tech was running back and forth between us. She was there before a number of other clients and unfortunately finished last.I believe these techs are doing their best, unfortunately sometimes someones best isnt necessarily whats right. They need to be trained properly. A couple of workshops wouldnt hurt.**addendum: I just realized my 2 pinky and 2 thumb nails dont match each other in length.

Probably one of the worst costumer service experiences of my life. Went in for a new dip powder set appointment to find an individual male staffing the place. He tried for 5 minutes to convince me not to get tips (So that he could squeeze in another customer after me) then proceeded with the dip and tip set after I wouldnt budge. He started the proper soak off process for one hand then on the other hand in order to save time he began ripping off my previous dip set with cuticle trimmers(Defeating the whole purpose of the sns dip powder ). After the top layer of my nails were ripped off he proceeded to file them with the nail drill on maximum speed. I complained about it being too hot on multiple occasions but he continued to file aggressively. At this point Im stuck in the chair because my nails are barren and no other nail salons will take me at this hour. Next came the tip and adding of the nails. After adding the tip and shaping the nails I complained about them being uneven and requested that he make them straight across the top. He gave it another attempt but it was still shotty so i figured Id just fix myself it with a file when I got home and let it go. During the dip curing process he pointed to my thumb nail and said Thats pretty uneven, dont ya think? I agreed then he proceeded to say Im not going to fix it because you told me to do it that way and I dont have time now..... I need not say more about this experience aside from that I was gouged on pricing (agree on a price before hand) and that he didnt honor the online promotion that was shown on their website at the time. Final product was meh. Let him take a picture because he thought it looked nice. No amount of money in this world will make me return. It sounds like the ladies at this salon do a good job but if this individual is working RUN FOR THE HILLS.

Heres a summary if you dont want to read my long post: I left without a manicure after almost getting my nail bed drilled off, a subpar pedicure, and tears running down my face with mixed emotions. First, Id like to thank God who kept me as calm as I could be during this horrendous experience. Also, Id like to thank the two officers that came when I called them on the nail technician who verbally and physically assaulted me in effort to make me leave my purse in the salon although I left other valuables and explained I needed to go to my car to get my debit card. Id also like to thank the woman who witnessed all of the disrespect and craziness from the nail technician and offered to pay for me since there seemed to be a disconnect with the nail technician. Id also like to thank the other woman who ran across the street when she saw the nail tech assault me and snatch my purse when I was going to my car to get payment. Lastly, Id like to thank her friend also waiting with me as I waited for the police to come and almost miss their dinner plans. You all stood by me because you knew this man was being ridiculous and extremely wrong to me. Let me say this, please stand up for yourselves in the nail salon people. My nail technician tonight decided to get irate with me when I decided I no longer wanted the more expensive dip polish on my nails and I just wanted a regular manicure to match my pedicure. I was kinf to him, and all of this was witnessed. I tried to use my customer service skills to de-escalate the situation and explain to him that I wasnt upset I just didnt want the service anymore. I thought he wouHe kept getting loud and irate shaking his head and putting his head down, so I said you know its fine I will just pay you for my pedicure. He didnt Express that because he took off half of my acrylic that I would have to pay for that too I said thats fine I just need to go to my car to get my card. Then more Hell broke loose and he followed me outside after I left other valuable belongings and proceeded to block my path to my car yell at me and swear saying that I was trying to steal. Before I could even change my mind to let him hold onto my purse while I went to my car, he snatched it from me and bumped me and ran back in the salon I followed and I was so upset that I couldnt stop crying and the other woman there stay behind us and Walser shes trying to pay you and it seemed he just didnt understand that and kept accusing me of trying to steal. Long story short even though its already long, the police finally came and hurt us both out I agreed to pay for my pedicure because I believe in paying people for their service even though he bumped me and push my hand down when I was trying to record the incident I still felt I should pay him for his service as poor as his customer service was. He kept trying to push for more money and I expressed to the police that if I pay more than what I owe I am going to press charges on him and I would like to see him go to jail. He calmed down and accepted the $38. They are a brand new business, I was going to promote them because I believe in entrepreneurship but not at the expense of being disrespected and accused of stealing because according to him, another few other black women did the same thing to him last month. I will never return and I urge you to not go either. Even after being proven wrong by myself, the other women who witnessed his actions and the police, he never apologized and still got an attitude when I didnt tip after paying after the horrible treatment. My $38 pedicure was subpar. It was definitely not worth the money or the trouble BUT I ALWAYS PAY FOR MY SERVICES. Do yourself a favor and go to the other more tenured places if you must do South Loop. The only reason I was there is because they were the only place open this late on a Saturday in the area. I will stick to my regular nail techs from now on. *Reply from the salon is a lie. I only cursed AFTER the assault because I was SO ANGRY and hurt. He never apologized. UNACCEPTABLE.
