This hotel stay was so amazing! We wanted to take a short trip to Chicago with our baby girl and we’re so pleased with the staff, their professionalism, their willingness to go the extra mile for us and the amazing food they served. The room was perfect and ANYTIME we were uncomfortable(air in the room) they addressed our issues immediately and with a great attitude. I’m expecting a baby boy and became very hot even though the air was on 70 degrees. I asked them to turn it down to 65. They sent an engineer to our room to adjust the temperature to make sure I was comfortable. We loved everything about the hotel stay but our favorite part was the way they cleaned and sanitized the room for our safety and comfort. Did I mention room-service was delicious? We had the turkey sandwich, steak and burger and felt we were at at 5 star restaurant. They made our order to perfection! I can’t rave enough about how awesome they were. We asked for a baby crib and they provided the bed within minutes of our request. I’m so appreciative and will bring my entire family to this hotel every time I visit Chicago.

Unfortunately I have to give this JW Marriott a 3 star. We usually stay at the W across the street but wanted to change to see the difference since we do like the luxury of the JW Marriott. But this particular weekend they could just not match the quality we are used from JW Marriott. There was no water in the room, mini bars were empty, no bathrobes and the bed / cushions left me with a backache. It didnt stop there, we couldnt get the any late checkout as Titanium members, so they told us that we could use the executive lounge from 12 PM, but the day after they told us it opens at 5PM.I can understand that one or two things can miss out, but this particular time we left unhappy and unsatisfied as frequent travellers.

I have been here less than 4 hours and the results are not good, especially centered around the executive lounge. At check in, even though I asked, I was not give the lounge schedule what food would be served when, bar menu etc. I entered the lounge at 8:30, I had to flag someone down to get a drink, I was never checked on, asked to pay, etc. Assuming it was automatically charged to my room. Numerous workers and I was the only one in there the last 60 min so it was not a busy issue. WORST JW MARRIOT I have ever been too. Also, 2 packages delivered- TODAY and no one can find them nor find any documentation on them. SUPER DISAPPOINTED. SUGGEST YOU SPEND YOUR $ ELSEWHERE

We were in town for a short visit wifes birthday.... I chose Marriott over some of the others out there because the proximity to food and that decision was super awesome!!! Kelsey Ring reached out inquiring on our reason for visit... She set up chocolate covered strawberries and champagne as we checked into our room and I got bonus points from the wife! She definitely felt special. I am very pleased with the decision. From the check in with a nice gentleman Aaron. We felt valued and the hospitality was super top notch! The cleaning crew was awesome they greeted us as we walked by and were very generous. The stay was peaceful. The bathroom was legit...the shower had a luxurious feel...I will look to stay with them again if the price is right. We got a great special. (booked early) I feel that it was a great value! Thank you Marriott for the hospitality. They even had the feather free room setup accurately!!!We will have you on first check for the next stay when we return to the area.Respectfully,A very pleased Bonvoy MemberBryanYukon Oklahoma

A good business exists because of great people. I met one of those people, Maria. As you know business travel can be fast and taxing. When I arrived late on a Sunday night I realized I didnt have a phone charge cord. I went to the front desk to figure out if there was a place to get one. It being late, there was no chance. Maria, unplugged her charge cord and loaned it to me for 3 days. Most people would have sent me away, but Maria solved my issue by being GREAT. Thank you Maria and Marriott.

I stayed at this property for two days this past weekend and enjoyed my time. It is in the city center of Chicago and the subway station (Quincy) is literally around the corner offering service on the: orange, brown, pink, and green lines. An older, sophisticated hotel right in the downtown/financial/loop district. Everyone was friendly, checking in was a breeze. The Spa and pool are by appt only. The hotel restaurant had decent but overpriced breakfast, so Id recommend actually going out to one of the amazing breakfast/brunch places in the city. But it was great for that one morning when we feel like doing so. There is no real hotel lobby bar, which would be nice to have. The room is not super spacious but has everything you need. The bed was clean, soft and firm at the same time, large and comfy. One of the best parts was the huge, 2-person bathtub.Parking is difficult unless you park in the structure on the corner, which they do validate for $30-some a day WITH in and out privileges, which was way better than we expected.

Wonderful staff and updated room with a giant bathroom. I could not hear anyone in nearby rooms (or the far away ones) or the corridor. Asked for a quiet side. Street or building construction is happening outside, constant beeping and loud thuds (like tractor trailer dumping metal pipes on to the street). Its past 11:15PM and its still going on, I have to wake up early and this is just unacceptable. While this is not what appears to be a Marriott project, they should at least know how disruptive that is, and place guests away from that side knowing whats going on.

Location is still fairly quiet because of Covid and this was the very first Marriott property I’ve visited that wouldn’t honor a late checkout based on my Bonvoy status, which was really weird. My family and friends are visiting Chicago this weekend. We booked our stay at JW three weeks prior to our trip via Priceline. My friend flew into Chicago a few hours earlier than us to attend a concert. Before departing, my Brother called the hotel to place her name on the room so she could check in before us. The guest service asked for confirmation number and stated her name was on the room. Stated she should have no issues checking in. Let me say that we paid around 180 a night on Priceline three weeks prior, which is an awesome price. However, when my friend arrived at the hotel a few hours later, guest services said there was no reservation under the confirmation number and was told to call Priceline. We called Priceline and they informed us that the hotel had canceled our reservation due to the nightly price not being sufficient enough. The rooms were going for 399 that night. Needless to say, we were left stranded in Chicago with no hotel room on Labor Day weekend. The hotel nor Priceline tried to accommodate us.

It’s nice but not worth the price. I booked this hotel because of location and reputation for a one night anniversary vacation to Chicago. There were two of us in a King Exterior Room. I paid myself and can just say that it is not at all worth the price for what I did. I can only assume that if you have a credit card that upgrades you or your stay is paid by your company, this may be nice, but it is around 2-3 times more expensive than similar hotels in the area and does not have anything special. Mobile, no contact check in still required me to go to the front desk to verify my ID. The room was nice and clean but nothing special, sort of basic. There is only one elevator and it is not at all in a central location, which means you have to walk through a maze of hallways to get to your room every single times to use the elevator. The lobby bar is oddly closed while most other places are running normally. I made one request to the front desk, but they were unable to help. (I asked for bubble bath liquid, which they responded that they only have bath salts…). I am sure a large number of guests are upgrading to suites or have work functions at this hotel and it would probably be ok, but if your trying to have a special night and celebrate with someone special, I would recommend a different option as this is not that kind of hotel. Spa prices are seemingly only meant for people that receive credits with their room as the prices range from $160 for a 50 minute massage to $455 for a 80 minute couples massage. The exterior view that I paid extra for was a view of the building next door with the window not even allowing me to see the street. I requested a high floor and was assigned floor 5 of 12, which seems like the lowest of the floors containing rooms so it seems like my request was given no consideration at all. Even the water bottles given to us in the room were two tiny promotional water bottles. This is a 4 star hotel, I cannot see why. If you are staying here for a visit paid by your company, you will have a nice experience. If you are booking a room for full price, you can book somewhere else much cheaper and upgrade your experience for equal to or less than the price I paid. Nothing is special or makes this worth more than most of the other hotels in the area. A bit disappointed, but was a good learning experience.

There, on the weekend, even the downtown Starbucks are closed. No soda for sale at the hotel, I was urged to go to 7/11 next door. Seems odd. Beautiful hotel with friendly staff and an awesome location. Parking is close and affordable. The real issue is amenities - or the lack of them. The restaurant you can access from the lobby isnt associated with the hotel, requires reservations, and doesnt care that youre staying there. The lobby lounge no longer exists. No food, no breakfast, no bar, nada. A few tables and chairs where you can eat food you bring in from the outside. No gift shop, no bodega, not even a vending machine. Room service does exist, run by the hotel, but its slow sand pricy ($10 for water pricy). Its a shame, considering how nice the hotel building and rooms are, but there are simply no comforts.

I stayed here for Valentine’s Day weekend because my uncle was having heart surgery. One day after I had just gotten out of the shower and was laying in the bed I heard a man coming into my room. I screamed at the door what are you doing in here and he closed the door and said he didn’t know anyone was in the room. I called to the front desk and the explained that it was an engineer that worked for the hotel. I asked why did he just come into my room without announcing hisself. The front desk worker told me it was a mistake and since I’m an associate I should understand these things happen. I explained to her that doesn’t happen at my hotel and I felt I should be compensated by a free stay because after that I had nightmares that someone kept coming into my room. She laughed in my face and told me that wasn’t happening and they only gave me points. This incident completely ruined my trip because I kept having nightmares about someone coming into my room and it made me very paranoid. I feel that because I’m an associate and because I’m black I was treated unfairly and if I was a regular guest I would have been given a free night stay and more than just some points and then brushing it off their shoulders. I was traveling alone and because of all the women going missing in Chicago this petrified me. There is no excuse for a man especially one who works for the company just barging into my room unannounced. Even when I asked why was he coming into the room they didn’t have a response. I was treated unfairly because of my relationship to the company and also because I’m a black female.

While I traveled with my own, I appreciate the sanitizer wipes in the room so that I could hit the remote, light switches and other surfaces for my own peace of mind.I noticed that the pool - which requires a reservation- was hopping with local families who were enjoying a staycation My spa treatments were ok, but nothing special given the premium price. The $30+ room charge put my signature manicure/pedicure at ~ $165, plus tip. My attendant, Anna was gentle, courteous and efficient. I have a 950+ nights across almost every Marriott/Starwood brand. I expect more from the JW brand than I received this time around. I was in Chicago during a low period over the holiday with my family. The JW had a reasonable rate for this period so we decided to stay downtown a few days. I was first given a small room with a broken bed after I had been told that there were no larger rooms available. I’m a Titanium member and usually don’t prod for a larger room, but was traveling with my family this time. After the second call to the front desk about the broken bed, the person on the other side was great and somehow ‘found’ a larger room that magically wasn’t there for best room guarantee (this second person was great, it’s not his fault checkin lied). There was no breakfast amenity offered besides the lounge even though the site says they’ll do a $10 amenity for food. The lounge food was underwhelming. I expect more from the JW brand. I thought the titanium breakfast was much better at Aloft river north and Gwen if you’re coming to Chicago. Unless the rate is good and location is right, I’d recommend some of the other Marriott properties in Chicago over the JW.

We had 2 rooms for 5 nights in Chicago over the 2019 4th of July holiday. We wanted a centrally located hotel that would allow us to walk to area attractions and restaurants, but also provided a good starting point for public transportation. This hotel was perfect for that. It is within walking distance from the Willis Tower, Art Institute, and parks. It also sits next to a train station and several bus stops. Our rooms were the perfect size with plenty of room for everyone (4 in 1 room and 2 in the other). We ended up enjoying the pool 3 of the 5 nights which was always relatively empty. The fitness center is state-of-the-art and has everything you could need. The only thing that was not working was the arm holding the makeup mirror. It did not stay when adjusted but the lighted mirror in the bathroom worked just fine. All in all we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this property. I enjoyed that there were no conventions in house as the hotel seemed very empty the entire time.

Stayed for one night on business trip recently but have stayed here before. Very nice property in the heart of downtown Chicago. Great location. Rooms clean, spacious and quiet. Food was excellent, including the Florentine restaurant, where we had a group dinner. The staff at this hotel is wonderful. Highly recommend.
