I would not recommend this place. He charged $250 to clean antique bags and ruined them with cheap acrylic. He refused to acknowledge that he made a mistake and refused to refund. In my experience, he is incompetent and expensive. There are much better cobblers nearby who do quality work at a more reasonable price. Hard pass!

All I asked was a simple cleaning of the surface of two brown antique leather bags from the early 1900s bags.When I came back to pick them up he charged me 250$ and handed me the bags all wrapped up in brown paper so I would pay first and see later. Once in my car and I opened up the wrappings and was bought in tears when I saw wha he dine to these antique bags.HE HAS SLAPPED THEM WITH AN AWFUL GLOSSY BLACK ACRYLIC PAINT THAT LOOKED LIKE HOUSE PAINT.These two bags are now ruined, other leather specialist told me the damage is too deep for repairs. As of today he has refused to refund. He said now they look newImagine bringing your car for a wash and when you get it back it has been spray painted. How would you feel?

Gus is truly the best - he is an absolute expert on leather and shoe construction, his attention to detail is incredible, and he never overcharges. The work he does is exceptional. His prices are always reasonable, and if he ever has to charge more than usual, he takes the time to explain exactly why the job in question is particularly tricky or labor-intensive. It is rare to find a professional with his depth of knowledge and skill who is also consistently fair and trustworthy. I’ve used many different leather repair shops over the years, and Gus is BY FAR the best.

I was looking for a shoe shop to repair my dansko shoes .Gus did a great job. I needed my shoes repaired because my feet was hurting from wearing the wrong type of shoes.

$50 to ruin a $2000 pair of shoes. what a deal! I had heard so many great things about this place, too. I just wanted to get my shoes re-heeled but they look like crap and arent even fully attached, and they painted over the sole with some awful looking glossy paint which Im gonna have to try to clean off. Now I have to find another place to undo their garbage work.Thanks for nothing.

I brought a bag in to have the zipper repaired, then when I picked it up the price had suddenly changed. On top of that, the quality of the repair was subpar. I recommend finding a different shop with honesty and quality workmanship.

Stopped in to get my mens reebok basketball shoes cleaned, they charged me $30 and told me theyd be ready in 1week. Came back to pick up shoes and they looked exactly the same as when I dropped off not a bit of a difference I explained to the man at register and he looked embarrassed and even got red in his face thats how Iknow he did not do the job. The man gave me my shoes and he was willing to let me walk out and just take my money. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE

I thought I would never be able to wear a certain pair of Louboutins again but I brought them here and they came back to me looking brand new and with a new red Vibram sole. Service was very friendly, very quick and very reasonably priced! To fix the tips of my heels and re-sole my Louboutins, it was only $65. Dont be put off by the negative reviews, I think only people with a one-off bad experience tend to write reviews on Google here.

I have used this place for 15 years!! But yesterday they lost my Miu Mius -a pair of $750 pair of shoes!!!And I cant do a thing about it because they made me sign the ticket when am came to pick up another pair of shoes that I had brought in with the others. They were to simply stretch the shoes....then I would pick up the shoes, I got there and neither of my two paid were stretched. So I took one pair home, and left the Miu Mius, so I got back to get my shoes and he searches but nothing. Then he finds his stub of the ticket and says I picked up the Miu Mius and he has the signature to prove it!!! I never ever picked them up!!!! I left them behind to be stretched! I even went in the back to look!!!!!! Not there, and I never once wore them!!!I have had this happen here once before. About 7 years ago I brought 2 pairs of older shoes to be repaired, but when I came back they were not there. I want to know what is going on at this place! Something is rotten in Limcoln Park and it is Gus shoe store. They are thieves!! I mean what else am I supposed to think?I feel like he is selling the good shoes on eBay or something. I see a woman says they lost her $2000 shoes!!! I want to press charges, but because he had me sign his little ticket, I cant do that now.So the only way I can make sure no one goes here is to spread the word!!!!!DO NOT GO TO GUS SHOE Repair. Ever since Gus died it is not the same place. Bad.
