Great hardware store. This is a true hardware store. Great help from the staff. Youll find things you cannot find at the big box stores. If they dont have it they find it for you. They have a rental dept., glass cutting, locksmith and provide DYI workshops. I love this place.

Received terrible customer service. No one was helpful or willing to help with my questions (because Im a woman?). I was treated like a burden. I was told by one staff member that he doesnt understand metric. I left feeling awful. Will not be back.

More helpful staff than customers, most of the time. Totally knowledgeable and eager to help. Even if theres a super long line, youll get out quick...

Stopped in during a vexing home improvement project. The cheerful store assistant showed me how to solve my problem, gave me a quick training on how to use the supplies I was buying, and buoyed me with a little pep talk. Got home and did the fix. Forever grateful for this precious gem of a store—where available, knowledgeable, and courteous customer service still exists!

These guys are amazing!I was doing repair project and I may compare those guys versus Menards and Home Depot associates. Every person who works on this store knows everything about his department!They are real experts.Also they have in stock some little things which you will never find in chain stores! (Like parts for old folding doors).They highly recommend if you need repair window screens!So if you have a choice you should go there, skip Menards or Home Depot.

Rental department staff is super friendly. Way cheaper rental rates than big box stores. Highly recommend.

There are equipment rentals and pretty much whatever you might need for small or large projects around the house. All the staff are friendly & helpful. Ive rented a shop vac, go there to have Lexan cut to cover aquariums, keys made & pick up little odds & ends for DIY projects. Usually in & out pretty fast. Never difficult to find what you need or someone to help.

They have the best service for do it yourself home repair. All the parts a 100 year old 2 flat needs.

Needed a 10 length of PVC pipe for a small home project, the gentleman in the plumbing department was kind enough to find me some scrap and cut it to length. The whole affair took me 5 minutes and cost me 30 cents. If you know what youre looking for, it tends to make The Visit and purchase smoother. Its a busy place so sometimes it takes a while to get the attention of the staff, but they are knowledgeable and helpful. They also do a variety of project consults and tool rentals, which will probably come in handy for me as the weather gets warmer. Overall, great place.

A little more expensive than Home Depot. But, it is in the heart of the hood and we must support local businesses rather than huge slave makers corporation. You really find it all there. Free parking. Even equipment to polish floors and lines to clean pipes. Copy keys, re-net the patios storm door that your cousin didnt see when he went to get a beer, friendly ppl.

Clark Devon hardware is very well stocked and has helpful, knowledgeable staff. The only drawback is that its popularity causes a very long line at the cash registers.

This place is a hidden gem in Rogers Park. I cant say how many times Ive been there and as a woman, Im always intimidated going into places like this, and they are always exceptionally nice, very professional and informative. Shout out to the guys in lighting and Bob(I think thats his name!?) For helping me buy a snowblower today!! Cant go wrong here!

Used their glass center to repair the glass that was broken on a cabinet. They were able to complete the job swifly in 24 hour. Definitely recommend!

Im always impressed at just how knowledgeable and helpful the staff is. They really know their stuff. Im usually pretty confident in what I need but I always ask them just to make sure. Cannot recommend this store enough. I only wish they were open later in the evening.

Clark Devon Hardware has been a feather in the cap of the Rogers Park and Edwater neighborhoods for as long as I can remember. Each department has its regular staff members who are far more knowledgeable than your average box shop employees.The selection is surprisingly gearned towards the needs of the the professional contractor as well as the maintenance issues seen in old construction. However the atmosphere is welcoming to all who love hardware....Not bad for and old movie theater.

They didnt have a rubber seal I was looking for but did their best to help me find something similar that came in handy! Now I dont have to throw away my $75 blender.

Now this is a hardware store. They have everything and they have actual service people in every department that know what they are doing and offer up some pretty good advice and alternatives. I spent half an hour in the nuts and bolts isle with Cindy who helped me find many odd sized and shaped bolts and nuts to created a unique chess set for my son. Bingo!

I dropped off my blower 5 days ago. When I dropped it off I was told someone would call me in 2 to 3 days. Finally today I called to follow up. I was told by Alex they would not see it until in 3weeks. I told him I was suppose to be told this when I dropped it off, because I need my blower. He said no problem I could pick up. I know I can pick up anytime that is not the problem. Alex should had at least apologize for the miscommunication.

I love supporting small businesses and Clark-Devon Hardware embodies why I love shopping small. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The reason I took the time to write a review was due the amazing service Ive received from Cindy. I came in with a shelf Ive had for months and finally felt ready to tackle. She found the most appropriate hardware for me and walked me through how to install it. I messed up with my anchors and placement in my wall and returned two days later for more anchors. This will be my first stop whenever Im doing home repairs.

Well stocked, friendly local hardware store. Be careful where you park, the lot bordering Clark Street is pay to park and is vigilantly patrolled- they have a smaller lot around the side that is free, but often pretty full. Their prices can be hit or miss, but they definitely have what you need.

The place seems bigger on the inside than it appears from the exterior. Good selection and knowledgeable staff.

I love this controlled chaos of this store. The staff are genuine, friendly and appear to remain employed there for a long time which is always a good sign to me. I had a recent experience with a rented upholstery cleaner and the representative was so helpful with operation and timeline in which I could use the machine. Proud for CDH to be in my neighborhood.

Ive been coming to the Clark Devon store for 30 years. They are well stocked with everything that you think they should have; plus hard to find items. What separates them from the competition is their knowledgeable staff that is available in every section of the store. The best!

This place has been in business for a very long time but have become detached from the needs of the key copy aspect of their business. They don’t have enough people to sustain the needs of this area and should have people on call or hire more people. If you are not in a rush to get your key copy needs met, this is your place.

I just moved to the neighborhood so I’ve been here about 4 times this week, and every single time I’ve been helped promptly by very knowledgeable experts, who went out of their way to make sure I had what I needed and even fixed a faucet adapter for me free of charge. Editing a previous review. If the store is busy, admittedly it may be difficult to find someone to assist you if you need an explanation or extra information about a product. That being said, I have received some excellent customer service from a few of the female employees so I continue to seek them out when I have a question even if that means waiting for them to finish with another customer. I think the experience can be hit or miss depending on how busy the store is and who is working. I think it is an excellent spot if you know exactly which products you want and just need to grab them and go.

Clark and Devons staff know how things work. Go there if you need any sort of advice or general maintenance knowledge. Great place for landlords too!

Best damn hardware this city has ever seen. It’s classy and old fashioned. The staff knows everything about building and repair. I’ve been shopping here since I was a kid and it’s nice to see this place has not changed since then.

Had keys made and was assisted by the best lock smith around. Checked the keys when I got home and they all worked perfectly. Devon Hardware might not be a big box store, but if you have a question, theyll have an answer for you and have what you need.

They get the second star because they stock a lot of odd plumbing and lock parts that can’t be found elsewhere.Today, I called to see if they had access panels for a plumbing/ceiling repair. I wanted to put up the drywall and mud, then go to get the panel while waiting for the mud to dry. When I called, the guy could tell me that they had them, yes, and he thought that they had 8,12 and 16” sizes, but if I wanted to know the rough-in dimensions, then I would have to come down to the store.He couldn’t walk down to the panels and look. He couldn’t go one step further to help a customer.I’ve been in this store....20,30 times. More often than not, I’ve left dissatisfied. Clark & Devon Hardware has lazy, entrenched staff. It’s almost like they are doing you a favor by helping you. They don’t like to work? Do them a favor. GO ELSEWHERE.

Old type hardware store feeling. If you need something to fix or buy and dont know exactly what youre looking for, these people can help you find it. They are really knowledgeable about the hardware related items. I went to Home Depot because its closer to my house but they did not have a 5 back set for my front entry door, and they even suggested going to Clark and Devon to find it. When I got there, they knew exactly what I needed and offered to show me how to install it with the extension. They still cut keys the old fashion way, which I think is better then with that machine the big retailers have now. Give this hardware store a shot if you need anything, Im going to start going here even though its a farther drive for me. You get the knowledge of people that actually know what they are talking about because theyve been doing this for a long Time.

Way tin many guessing games with this hardware store, outdated website and misinform. Customer service is slacking too. I wanted to support the local neighborhood hardware store but they truly disappoint me and I can no longer support this establishment. The worse part about them is the attitude some of their workers have. Don’t waste your time!

Clark Devon is a great resource and my mom and dad were looking for DRYLOK paint for a project at an apartment building and found it right here. They are a wealth of knowledge and carry Benjamin Moore as well as Florence mailboxes for commercial buildings. This business gets my highest recommendation.

Really bad at making cars key they make my key and it doesnt turn and i went and they make another and then it didnt came out it stucks in my car and the manager said you have to fix by yourself and give a locksmiths phone number they should be responsible for what they did wrong not a locksmiths.

Wonderfully helpful and unfailingly kind staff, first and foremost. Whatever bizarre or old-school hardware request you make, they have it. This is a REAL hardware store. (And tiny brown paper bags for screws, too, which I love.) 😊 Park north of the building, in their free lot.
