Were glad to have chosen Modern Quality Flooring to refinish stairs and several rooms of hardwood flooring. Danny and his crew couldnt have done a better job. Their guidance on stain, finish and cleaning tips were fantastic. They were very professional, timely, trustworthy, easy to work with and at a fair price too. When the job was completed, we were pleasantly surprised that there was virtually no sign of dust. We even intend to have them return soon to refinish another area of the house.

We recently hired Modern Quality Flooring to do two jobs in our townhouse. For the first one they installed laminate flooring and installed and stained stair treads. Our job was in a high-rise condo building, so there were HOA rules about noise, discarding the construction waste, and insurance requirements. Danny let me know what our options were and how much each would cost, and he went above and beyond in working around the schedule of the repair crew that had to come in to address the source of the issue. Danny is very responsive to all communication, and weve appreciated the way he walks through their approach and the options you have. Their work is about as dustless as you can get considering the work, and with low VOC water-based finishes we were able to move back in quickly. Highly recommended!

Modern Flooring had been a referral by a neighbor and we were not disappointed. Danny came out very soon after we called to give us an estimate. We had to wait a while for the work to get done, but he and his team of Luis and Ricardo did a great job. The project was finished in less time than we thought which was a plus. They sanded and restained the front hall stairway and put a new seal coat on the kitchen floor. They did an excellent job at cleaning up. We would definitely recommend them.

Danny met me at our new condo in Oak Park right after our closing, and gave us several great options for our new bedroom floors. He took extra effort to give me 4 different estimates for each of the options.While he was measuring the rooms, he also pointed out an electrical outlet issue that I hadnt seen!His team did a fantastic job throughout! They neatly and efficiently removed all the old nasty carpeting, installed the soundproofing layer, the engineered oak flooring, and all the baseboards and thresholds. They were so patient and considerate while I had 2 electricians working on the same day (not exactly ideal, but couldnt be avoided).The most impressive thing to me was their attention to detail and quality work. Even the baseboards were neatly cut to fit around the old radiator covers perfectly.They also do kitchens and other jobs, and I plan to call Danny again for future work.

I have used Modern Quality Flooring for two projects at two houses. Both experiences were great! They did an amazing job on the floors, helped me with color selection, and avoided getting any stain on my white baseboards! They did the stair at one property and those came out amazing as well! Ive truly never had a better service experience. Danny treated me and my husband like family and he treated the work on our house as if it was his own. He came out for measurements and a quote on Monday for refinishing and restaining our hardwood floors, and his crew was able to start work on Thursday (even earlier than initially anticipated). They completed the job in less than a week! Danny is a true professional, he pays attention to details like changing out floor vents to match the new floor and feel more modern as well as ensuring the baseboards are flush against the floor. He offered and showed us many different stains and finishes and encouraged us to take our time with making the color choices. His crew worked early mornings to late afternoon and left the house spotless, you would never say the entire floor of the house was sanded down. The finished floor looks incredible, Danny and his crew fixed some boards and imperfections and truly made it look incredible. They even took the time to move the kitchen appliances to ensure they refinished the floors under them in case we exchanged appliances in the future. Danny is prompt in his communication, hes knowledgeable about the work and the products, and his prices are very fair and much lower than other competitors that have quoted us. He also took the time to educate us on cleaning products and floor care to keep the floors in great shape over the years. Im posting before and after photos but they truly dont do the floor justice.

Modern Flooring refinished the hardwood floors in our own Hyde Park condo.This company is the best, truly. We were on a tight budget and needed to fix the mistakes made by the first flooring company we had hired.Modern Flooring was immediately responsive. They answered all our questions and were also available via phone to talk us through additional questions as they popped up.We had a lot of problems with our floors that resulted from using another company at first. But as soon as Modern Flooring was hired, Danny patiently and clearly explained to us what would be needed to fix the problem. He realized our budget was stretched to the point of breaking, and was very very reasonable with our costs. They fixed the problems caused by the first company, and expertly completed the job.The crew does excellent work, and the owner, Danny, shows up multiple times throughout the process to ensure everything is on track and the customer is happy. You are not going to find anything to be concerned about with these guys. Danny is a very hard working guy and does everything possible to ensure his customers are very happy with the work. I had an ever changing start date due to issues with the closing for the house. The day we finally closed Danny showed up, scoped the work, sent the estimate late that same day, and his crew was doing demo the next morning. His team all work so well together and were a pleasure to interact with everyday. You will not beat the quality of the end result either. Its perfect. P.E.R.F.E.C.T.If you do not have a floor guy, these guys will be who you call and trust for years to come. You will not go wrong here. I kinda wish they did more than floors so I would have more reason to get to work with them.

We have an older home that needs a lot of work and updating, like most we dont have an endless supply of money and therefore need to plan, budget and update in stages. Danny has been great! He has been consultative along the way to ensure that the overall look I want is achieved and helps us plan for the future. This last job he quoted well over a year a go, gave us a cost breakdown if we did a room at a time, all at once and knowing we were on a budget offered a suggestion to help us get best bang for our buck. This round we had a custom outlet placed in the floor of my office, wood floor vent installed, curved stairway and a jagged stone wall that they needed to etch around and it came out beautifully (as expected). This is the third time we have worked with Modern Quality Flooring and they continue to exceed my expectations. The team is fast, friendly and do fabulous work! I will continue to use them for future projects and refer them to all my friends and family.Update #1: (7.8.2017)After we had them out we also contacted them regarding tiling two bathrooms a small 3/4 bathroom and a Master. Just like before, I couldnt have been more pleased. The tile crew was obviously different then the hardwoods (they each have their expertise) but the same gold star treatment and service which just speak volumes for this company. At the beginning of the tiling job, they verified how I wanted it place, asked me questions that I hadnt considered, provided great perspective/advice, and adjusted/accounted for the non-squareness of our walls. I cant say this enough, I couldnt have been more please with the quality of work, the service, timeliness and price this company provides. Absolutely wonderful. Previously they had stripped and re-stained 2 bedrooms, a large hallway and staircase for us. We were so pleased with them that we called back to install and stain new hardwood floors in a bedroom, as well as strip and re-stain another bedroom to ensure that it all matched. I am a very fussy person and notice the smallest of details. Just like before, I couldnt have been more pleased with the work they did.The best quality of work, great crew, on time and for a great price. I will continue to call them for all of my flooring needs!

Danny and his team did an amazing job rescuing our floors! We have hardwood throughout but previous owners had carpeted in many rooms, put tar paper and cork tiles in another room, and painted the floor of our livingroom - to say nothing of 60 yrs of wear and tear on the exposed floors.His team scraped the tar, removed and filled holes from a zillion nails and carpet staples, sanded everything to reveal the very pretty natural wood. The sealed floors look great!The process was very easy for us. They came in on the first day and scraped, sanded, and patched everything, and put down our first coat (we didnt stain the floors because we like the look of natural wood). The following two days, they reapplied and buffed the additional two coats. The sanding machine they use leaves the area with little/no dust and they vacuum behind it, so I wasnt coughing on dust that floated into one of our wood-free rooms where I was WFH. I loved being able to stay there while they worked so I didnt have to move my home office.Danny is exceedingly kind and conscientious. My wife has health conditions that cause reactions to some of the common stains and seals, so we had to special order a specific brand. He was patient and willing to work with whatever option we found, and was super respectful of our needs (as many who live with health issues can attest - that is not to be taken for granted!)Communication was great. Danny made sure we knew what was happening each day, what the floors would look like, and that we were clear on costs, timeline, and process.We will definitely use Modern Quality Flooring in the future and we recommend them without reservation.

Had refinishing my first floor with Modern Quality Flooring. The whole process from getting a quote to finishing the project was super smooth and cant be better.Danny and his crew were responsive, on time and work hard. What else I can ask?Refinishing floor could mean lots of dust everywhere but they cover all important area and minimize dust during the process and they cleaned the floor everyday before they left my house.I LOVE the result and definitely work with Danny for my second floor soon!

Danny and his team refinished my condos floors twice with 3 coats of flat polyurethane finish. The first time was during the initial move in, in which he repaired a rough finish from the previous owner. After the kitchen suffered water damage due to a garbage disposal, I was happy to call him back to fix and resurface the floors a second time. Both times the service, response, and timeliness were excellent. His quotes were competitive with 3 other bids. I highly recommend their work.

Admittedly, Im a pretty tough customer. I ask a lot of questions, I watch what people working on my home are doing. I ask more questions. Danny came out late in the day and sent a competitive quote that evening, long after most would have been done for the day. He answered my questions on the quote early the next morning. I researched the type of sealant to be used, he answered my questions on the product, and offered alternatives if I wanted. Danny and his crew started the project in two days and finished two days later as requested. Thats the business side. Lets talk on-site workmanship. Unbelievable!! He and his crew repaired a hole from an old return duct and water damage in the kitchen and matched to the existing floor beautifully. They went above and beyond, hitting closets and under the kitchen stove and refrigerator. These people are the real deal when it comes to professionals!

Danny and his team removed the carpet, helped us choose a beautiful stain option, sanded, stained, and refinished the floors. The team cleaned up very thoroughly when the job was done, and the floors look amazing!Danny and the team were always very available, explaining what was going on during each step of the process and patiently answering all our questions.We bought wood thresholds which they stained to match the floors in the rooms. We asked them not to install the thresholds because we were having carpet installed later in the summer.When the carpet installers (not Modern Quality Flooring) came, they would not install the wood thresholds. We bought a condo which requires some hardwood floor refinishing work. I literally spent 10+ hours researching online trying to find a good pro in our area. Danny came in very responsive to my inquiries and his pricing was very competitive. He explained the whole process to us in detail and finished the work nice and quick, earlier than planned so that we could move in without a delay. The floor looks like brand new after the work! At the end, he walked me through the whole unit, explained all the things I should pay attention to. He even went into details of how to maintain, clean the hardwood floor.Whats even better, recently, a heavy metal accidentally fell onto our floor and cause a deep dent. They installed hardwood flooring in the bedrooms of the condo I purchased last summer, and then refinished the existing wood flooring in the living room, dining room and kitchen to match. Danny and company are honest, professional, efficient and responsive. I highlighted honesty, because they do only what is needed. I first found that out four years when we bought a house with a ruined carpet in the master bedroom. We pulled up the corners and saw hardwood. Dannys crew came out and removed the carpet. He said the floor didnt need to be sanded. They patched the nail holes from the carpet nail strips, buffed and refinished it along with the hall in order for everything to match seamlessly. We recently pulled up carpet on two more rooms. The first floor was like the one fours years ago and they did the same, but the second was completely unfinished and with a gap in the wood. That floor they repaired, sanded, stained and finished. All results were all beautiful. They also handled the moving of the heavy furniture items. I highly recommend this company.

Though his quote was the same as the others I received from different companies Id found through Angies List, I went with Modern Quality Flooring because they used better quality equipment and products (the other two companies told me they might stain the wall trim and werent going to refinish the floors under my appliances). Once we decided to use MQ they were able to accommodate our tight schedule to get the floors refinished starting that same week. He went above and beyond in offering us color choices for the stain - showing us more sample options than we requested. The quality of the work was excellent and we are very happy with the how the floors turned out - Danny even sanded one tricky area by our stairs completely by hand to make sure the completed work was flawless. Danny is very knowledgeable and after they completed the work he made sure to give us care advice for the floors!

Danny and his crew did a fantastic job and it was done very efficiently. We had 3 rooms that needed to be striped and finished and they managed to do that in 3 days! All of the other quotes we received only quoted 2 coats of polyurethane but, Danny quoted 3 coats and the finish looks SO much better for it. MQFs quote was higher than 2 of the quotes that I got but it wasnt the highest and the quality of work that was done made it worth every penny. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Modern Quality Flooring for any job that you have and I have handed out their business card to several family members for upcoming projects
