I will always highly recommend Broadway animal hospital to everyone! Ive been going there for years, and through everything, all ups and downs as pets age, theyve been through it all with me and always are so kind, compassionate and extremely helpful! Just this week, my 19yr old got ill over the weekend, and they took her in immediately on emergency on Monday, and went into quick action, and possibly saved this old girls life, again 😃 Adam, Sarah, and all of the vet techs, crew and receptionists are so caring, explain everything to the minute detail, even demonstrating how to administer everything with full instructions on all, and they also take the time to check on them after the visits. They have and always save the day for me and my little ones, and I look forward to many more years of taking my little guys to them. So many thank yous from me and my family to the team, you all are the absolute best!

I recently just adopted a cat and was looking for a vet within walking distance of my home. I called Broadway Animal Hospital and Mary Jo was immediately able to get me registered in the system and set up with an appointment in one call. Dr. Trice was able to clearly explain things to me about what they had done and what they may need to do. They kept me informed as I waited. They have a good COVID-19 policy in place as well and everyone was very helpful and kind. Thank you!

I’ve been bringing our dog, Adele, here for years and am very happy with the care she gets here. Dr. Perry and Darlene are amazing with her. She’s very friendly but also very hyper and they are always so patient and loving with her. The past year of vet visits with my dog at Broadway Animal Hospital has been really awful. It started with conversations from the receptionist, Mary Jo. I had to call and get my dogs prescription food reordered. It also happened to be the case that my dog also need her annual check up and shots. Mary Jo refused to talk to the doctor about renewing the prescription until I set up an appointment. I set up an appointment and it took another day before the doctor approved the prescription for the food.Once my dog made it into her appointment, the vet told me that my dog needed to have a teeth cleaning and potential teeth extractions. My dog is an older, smaller dog, so I wasnt surprised. I asked the vet what I could do to help with brushing her teeth because my dog adamantly tries to avoid getting her teeth brushed every time I have ever tried. The vet told me to try harder. She also tried to sell me on the teeth cleaning by saying they were having a sale on teeth cleanings (it would have saved me $70 when it was estimated to be a $1400 procedure anyways). Now I finally was able to schedule time to have my dogs teeth cleaned. I dropped her off yesterday morning. I got the call from Dr. Perry that the procedure went well, but then he proceeded to tell me that I had to do a better job in caring for her teeth in the future. It felt like he was lecturing me. I asked him if he had any tips, and he said we could discuss it in person once I came to pick my dog up.I never even ended up seeing Dr. Perry in person to discuss my dogs care and how the day went. I was greeted by a vet tech. The tech had a bag and a folder with some papers in it. It was rainy out that day and because of COVID procedures I had to stand outside. The vet tech pulled out one of the papers in the folder and said make sure you read this without elaborating on anything written on the paper. He then pulled out the pain medicine and said make sure you give this to her tomorrow. He then said Feed her wet food tonight at 7-8 PM.This was frustrating because the vet knows that my dog is on a prescription diet, and I do not have a wet food version of this. This was easily resolved because he told me to just wet the dry food... but I was confused why the vet didnt consider this when telling me about after care for my dog.He then handed me the bag and said he would go get my dog. I asked for dental care tips since the vet originally told me we could discuss that in person. The tech told me I didnt need to worry about that for 2 weeks. I said I am not going to come back in 2 weeks to talk about the after care treatment for my dog. I want that information now. He stumbled around and struggled to identify any kind of helpful info. When I got home, I found several items in the bag for dental care... but yet the tech didnt even tell me what they were or were for.The tech brought my dog out and she looked like a mess. When we got home, I had to come several knots out of the hair on her ears. She looked very dirty and miserable. The tech promised me that a tech would follow up with me between 9-10 AM to see how my dog was doing on the day after her procedure. He also told me I could follow up with any additional questions I might have that he couldnt answer that day. Its almost 11:30 AM and I still havent received a call. Its disappointing to leave your dog in the hands of somebody and feel like she was just another dog that the vet could make $1400 off of. There was no personal care or attention given to her, and Im really sad that I put her through all of this.

The employees act like this is just a job. I expect this type of care from mcdonalds, not my vet clinic. Makes me wonder how the new owner treats staff, the lack of care or regards from the staff shows their lack of commitment to the hospital, which screams poor staff treatment from the owner. Ive been a client since 2009 and the past 4 years have severly delinced. I wish dr kaz still owned this hospital.

I called two months in advance to schedule for my pets travel clearence and it was cancelled (via email) 4 days before the appointment due to an “emergency” the receptionist claimed happened a week ago. Not only is it possible that my family is going to have to leave our pet behind for our PCS/move to Germany, but the receptionist tried blaming the mishap on me, making excuses like they didn’t have my phone number because I called “private” which I’ve never done in my life. You’d think the person who booked the appointment would have asked me for ALL of my contact information. The head receptionist also tried to send me to the USDA and used the words “It’s a lot of work for us.” I thought this was a veterinary hospital, and was under the impression it was their job to do this kind of work. This was completely unorganized and lazy. The receptionist showed no remorse, had a terrible attitude, and didn’t get me another appointment within the 10 day time frame we need clearance by. This is more than an inconvenience, our pet has been a part of our family for 8 years. It’s just sad, I wouldn’t recommend this establishment to anyone.

Caring for my best buddy ever ADONISS . Have been visiting there for 20 plus years. ADONISS is only going on 13 and quickly came down with kidney disease. Never knew the foods I was giving him was filled with too much protein. Its been a week and the staff at Broadway hospital have been professional and caring thus far. There are not cheap but, cant put a price on any animal living and loved. Watched Adoniss being born. Found his mommy in the alley and planned on finding the owner or a new owner. Anyway realized she was pregnant and not far along. And after the babies were nursed for 7 weeks. Found good homes for the mommy and litter. He might just be a cat to some. But to me always my babie boy. Had one black cat when took in the stray. She excepted the newborn, but wanted nothing to do with the momma cat. Merlot died a couple years after Adoniss was not. And few years later I bought a Chocolate Point Siamese. Merlot was put to sleep at Broadway Animal Hospital.A month after Mr. Adoniss passed away. . And the doctors and staff couldnt have been more sympathetic and compassionate for my loss. He missed very much and my 2nd cat still is crying daily looking for him. Picked up his ashes a week later. And felt some peace with his remains with me. Hinsdale Crematory gave him first class treatment. This is Adoniss Stephan at his cremation ceremony and his buddy who is still looking for him. Ill miss my buddy for a long time to come. Did all I could and wouldnt allow him to suffer. *_+

In the 4 years ive been taking my cat here, Ive witnessed a significant decline. Theyve screwed up my cats medication dosage, theyve tried to charge me double the bill price 3 times, and its almost impossible to get ahold of the vet to get important test results. Theyve performed unnecessary treatments (shots, blood draw) multiple times then charged me, even after I specified why we were there in the first place. Additionally most of the front staff are dishonest and unfriendly. The final straw, however, was when the receptionist laughed and mocked my cat as he was howling in pain in the back room during treatment. If you need anything other than yearly vaccines do not go here.

I have had pets my entire life, and this is easily the worst vet Ive ever gone to. We have gone to Broadway Animal Hospital for several years and have consistently had issues. First, they are ALWAYS late. Always. In the 6 years we went there, they were literally never on time for an appointment, always at least 15-30 minutes late. Second, they cant keep accurate records on your pet. They gave one of our dogs an unnecessary shot (that they also charged us for) even after we told them not to and gave them the shot records showing that he was up-to-date on everything. Finally, they have never been able to treat our dogs allergies. We finally went to another vet who actually offered solutions that worked rather than just trying to sell us fancy expensive dog food that (surprise!) you can only get from them. And the last straw was when we showed up for our appointment during the COVID crisis, and they (as usual) were running late and made us stand on the sidewalk for 15 minutes because they didnt have a room available. Well, theyre not letting people in period. So its a little bewildering to me that they couldnt have taken my dogs and put them in a kennel for a few minutes until the vet was ready rather than making us wait outside on a busy sidewalk during a pandemic. When I told them that it was unprofessional not to be running on time in this kind of situation, the receptionist just said, Ok, thanks, and shut the door in my face, and the tech who came to get the dogs said we were welcome to go someplace else. And thats exactly what were going to do. Rude staff; poor care; over-priced; dirty building (even after the remodel); constant vet turnover (we see a different vet just about every time we go in)--there is literally nothing to recommend about this place. We will never be going back, and I highly suggest you dont either!

The level of care, support, and compassion provided at the Broadway Animal Hospital is astounding. After and accident that caused dire injuries to my cat I rushed him to Broadway Animal Hospital because thats where hed received previous shots and check ups. The staff there were so kind and supportive. Unfortunately my cat was beyond saving, but I was so appreciative of how Broadway Animal Hospital did everything in their power to save cat. When they were unable to help any further my cat was transferred to an emergency hospital where I was informed he would not make it. I did not go back and explain this to the staff at Broadway Animal Hospital but because of their dedication and love for animals they took it upon themselves to follow up with the emergency clinic and then reached out to me to show their support and offer condolences. I was speechless at the amazing level of care they showed for both pets and owners.Recently I was having a conversation with someone and they told me about how their pet became ill (their cat did survive :-) ) and described how the animal clinic they took their cat to provided amazing service. Immediately I asked, Did you go to Broadway Animal Hospital? and they, surprised said yes and asked me how I knew, and I said that when they described the level of care and support they received I just new it had to be the Broadway Animal Hospital. We recently adopted a puppy from the Anti-Cruelty society and he needed a vaccination booster. I could’ve taken Max to a walk-in clinic, got the vaccination and been done with it, but when I spoke to Jessica on the phone at Broadway, she was so nice and we got a new patient appointment for the next day. I had to bring my toddler with me, which was the trickiest part of the whole ordeal. Making the appointment was easy, and the cost seemed reasonable. The appointment went well. The facilities are small, but clean and nicely decorated. Somehow, there was no smell and I had zero allergic reaction, (I usually feel some kind of allergic reaction at the vet). The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and busy at the same time! Everyone welcomed our little trio happily. The vet tech, Alma, was so sweet and thorough. She handled Max very well and did a great job explaining everything while my toddler was trapped in the small room with us. Dr. Fox came in and gave Max a thorough examination, and answered all my questions. I did not feel rushed or too guilty about bringing my toddler. They made me feel very comfortable. Due to my puppy’s age, we had to get a few more vaccinations, which were all explained to me. We talked about behaviors and house training. The cost was more than I thought it was going to be, due to the vaccinations, but when it comes to raising a dog in Chicago, “better safe than sorry.” We also got heart worm, flea and tick protection and a free puppy packet.I will bring my 14 year old black lab mix in and I expect the cost will be high for that too as he has bad hips and needs updates on his shots. There is plenty of street parking (not free) and we live nearby so that is nice. Thank you!

Both vets stay up to date on current treatments and approaches. We were talking about another dog I knew that had Cushings disease, and they were up to date on an emerging treatment that was derived from a chemical similar to DDT.They realize theyre in business to take care of pets that are part of peoples families. I have never in my life written a negative review. Not once. I want to be clear on that. It takes a lot for me to get angry and write something negative. On a Tuesday, I had blood work done on my 15 year old cat and was told I would hear back the next business day or maybe a few more at the latest. I didnt receive an e-mail l until Monday and was told nothing other than the blood work was off due to an issue at the lab and needed to be redrawn. Fine. I took him in on a Wednesday for a redraw and was told I would receive a call the next business day. I heard nothing until I called the following Wednesday, when I was told they had the wrong number and the vet would call me as soon as possible. To be clear, this was a completely wrong number, even wrong area code, inexplicably nowhere close to my actual number. Of course, this also doesnt explain why they didnt e-mail me as they had before, especially as they shouldve realized they had the wrong number. I waited a couple days and called again, only to be told that the vet who had seen my cat would not return to the office until Saturday. The receptionist placed me on hold to find another vet to tell me the lab results. After an extended wait, hearing some faint voices in the background, I kept repeating Hello? until someone picked up. For some strange reason, I had to explain again why I was calling even as it became clear that the vet had already reviewed the results. The vet then gave me a hurried interpretation that I struggled to understand, and finally told me that my cat had hyperthyroidism and kidney failure - the two leading causes of declining health in senior cats. And youve got both, he said, chuckling at the end. I called him out on the chuckle: Excuse me, but I dont find that funny. He denied chuckling when it was perfectly clear that he had done so. I dont find it funny, he tried to say, Im sorry that you think that I did. He did chuckle - there was no ambiguity. I have zero doubt. When I repeated my problem with him chuckling in the context of a conversation about my cat having kidney failure and hyperthyroidism, he just spoke over me as if he just hoped to move on. I hung up the phone and called another vet immediately. I suggest you do the same.Look, to be fully clear, I dont think the man thought it was laugh out loud funny. Hes surely not a monster. More likely, hes an insensitive and thoughtless communicator who resultantly has terrible bedside manner. In short, he treated my cats health like a cold clinical case as opposed to something abidingly personal. Regardless of intent, chuckling in this context is utterly unforgivable. I dont know the vet I spoke to and dont see a name on the website that rings a bell, but I want nothing to do with a clinic with a veterinarian who takes my pets declining health so flippantly. My overall experience between the repeated delays, poor communication, the truly odd experience I also had with a receptionist over the phone in requesting my records be forwarded to a new vet, and more emphatically this vet with atrocious bedside manner... again, I strongly suggest you pass and find another clinic. This was a terrible experience.Seriously, go elsewhere. Look at some of the other negative reviews, as its mostly consistent with my issues. I certainly wish I had more closely scrutinized the reviews. Im quite sure people have pleasant experiences here too, and the initial vet I saw was truly nice and seemed to express genuine concern and care for my pet, but the issues myself and others are presenting ... just go elsewhere. However slight it may or may not be, its not worth the risk, especially given all the other vets available in the area.In the manner I described above, I found out how my cat was most likely to die. As Im sure is true for many of us, I cannot express how much my cat means to me. In the end, I want no one else to experience such news in the way I did. Nothing they can say or do can change that.

In fact, he kept informing me that Dr. Perry was the doctor who saw my dog and his opinion on her case. Ummmmm, Ive only seen female vets there the past year (Dr. Perry is a man). Dr. Perry did not examine my dog AT ALL, though he kept claiming so. Furthermore, I have never even met Dr Perry nor has he EVER examined my dog in her entire life! This blows my mind that they could lie about this repeatedly and try to tell me Dr. Perry knows whats best when he has never even set eyes upon my dog.Additionally, he went on to tell me Dr. Perry wanted to try special shampoo. Again, if either of them actually cared or even read her records to begin with, they would see she had already received it. Not only has she received it, but she got it at her last visit from Broadway Animal Hospital themselves. They seriously only remember to call you back when they want money. I had to call them everyday for a week a few months ago just so they could answer a simple dosing question. And when they actually do talk to you, they are incompetent, and cant even get simple facts straight! I will never go back nor talk to them on the phone again.Dont bring your loved ones here! Especially concerning people like this Matthew manager and vets like Perry that lie to make a buck.

Great experiences both times weve been in. Dr. Kas is very friendly and approachable. You might want to double check your bill though. I was charged in advance for a test that my dog didnt end up needing for a year. When he finally did have it done, I was billed for it a second time. While I believe it was an honest clerical mistake each time, I suggest carefully reviewing the itemized bill before paying.

I would give 10 stars if possible. Both Dr. Perry & Kasmersky have provided care to my dog and both take their time with you and your baby. Their vet assistances and Katherine at the front desk are very friendly and helpful.. Twice my baby was sick and hurt and they followed up multiple times after my visit to see how he was. I never felt rushed in my appointment with either doctor or on a phone call with staff. They really care for your pet. I haven’t seen such empathy and care in any other vet I’ve gone to in past years. The doctors also explain things very well and answer all questions. This is our permanent place. The visit fee is $75. 1 photo X-ray costs about $85. I don’t find the prices too high. The care and service is worth it if the price may alarm some. I highly recommend Broadway Animal Hospital.

Overpriced and bad veterinarians. I used to take my cat here because I lived close by but the outrageous prices for sub par care had me switch vets. Best choice I ever made for my cats.

I recently had a terrible experience with this Animal Hospital. I took my cat in because she had not been eating or drinking. At first the staff handled the situation professionally, giving her fluids, and taking a blood sample for testing. The doctor told me that there was the possibility of a very serious kidney condition or possibly even cancer. The tests were to take place over night and they told me that they would call me with the results in the morning. The next morning came around, so I gave them a call around 9am. I was told the doctor was in surgery and would be making calls with results as soon as they were done. Again at 11am, I called again. Once again, I was told the same thing so I asked for an estimated timeline. The receptionist said most likely before 12:30-1pm. This already seemed ridiculous given the potential serious nature of my cats illness. 2pm rolled around and I had been anxiously waiting all day for the results, so I called again. The receptionist told me the doctor was still in surgery. I again asked for a timeline, this time not so politely, and was told that I would for sure hear from them before 7pm! I demanded to hear the results, so after a brief hold the receptionist returned. She said that she spoke with the doctor, and the doctor said that I needed to take my cat to the emergency clinic right away!!I got my cat in to the emergency clinic around 3pm. After they ran some tests, we determined that her results were too critical for any quality of life. My cat was put to sleep at 6pm that day.I dont know if it would have given her a chance to live whether we had got her to the emergency clinic first thing in the morning or not, but I would like to know that she had every chance possible... and thanks to Broadway Animal Hospital, she did not. I will NEVER recommend this place to anybody.

I took my cat here for a routine checkup, which they told me would be between seventy and eighty dollars over the phone. The nurse checking her vitals stopped trying to take her temperature when she negatively reacted (to a thermometer in her butt, wouldnt you??) He just completely stopped trying. And he didnt put in any effort to check her weight either. Anyways, the doctor comes in and does the checkup, and comes back with a recommendation for procedures she needed, for nearly $1,500! I took her to a clinic instead, and they said she didnt need half of the procedures they recommended. I would not ever recommend this place, your pets well being is definitely not their priority.

My Cat Died!NO GOOD! PLEASE NOTE THE REVIEWS ARE ONLY GOOD FOR THE TIME BEFORE THE BUSINESS WAS SOLD RECENTLY. CURRENT REVIEWS ARE HORRIBLE. LOOK AT THE RECENT REVIEWS NOT THE OLD ONES. If it were recent reviews they would have less than 2 STARS!!! Went there for 15 years. Then Dr. Kaz the owner sold it and pretended to still be there in order to move clients to the new CORPORATE owner, thats a typical business move and a agreement for the sale, that the Dr. would come in once in awhile to keep clients. He was a consultant for awhile. Ok. That happens. I noticed with the NEW OWNERS that some of the veternarians there were not veternarians but assistants who presented themselves as vets. When I asked if they were vets, they said no. They were more expensive, more remote, more corporate and indifferent. Then OUR CAT WAS DYING and the new owners said they were too busy to see the cat. We could come in at 4:30. Never liked this place in the first place that much. Dr. Kaz was fine. Karen who worked for him was fantastic. We named a cat after her. But these NEW PEOPLE are NO GOOD. When I called to complain the MANAGER laughed at me for getting angry and gave me one of those beaucratic responses you get from the phone company or calling some government agency. She wanted to know more about whether i was threatening her (hoping that I was to justify her indifference to the CAT). than the condition of the Cat. ANIMAL LOVERS THEY ARE NOT!!!! DONT Go to a place that revels in its indifference to the customer.Post script. After writing this Of course our CAT IS DEAD about 2 hours before our appointment.

Overall: this vet is just OK. There are other options that are a little further away that I rather give my money to, though. The receptionists are nice and very attentive, but the worst part is the veterinarian and the building. One vet in particular is not very adept at explaining what could be wrong with your pet, and they arent comforting or reassuring. And inside the exam rooms it isnt very clean. Also, what many reviews mention about random fees showing up on your bill is TRUE! I asked for estimates for everything before we paid and when we paid we had to pay 8 extra dollars (not much, I know) for a liquid disposal fee when I saw the vet in front of my face simply pour the liquid down the sink while we were speaking to them. I know its not much money, but unnecessary fees like this do keep people from showing up.

The only reason Im not giving 5 stars is because the exam rooms need a refresh BADLY. Paint job and spot repairs, at the least. Everyone is nice here. Sometimes you have to remind the front desk to get back to you, but judging by how busy they are and my past experience with that kind of work, I understand...and its actually pretty rare that I have to call back and remind. I have had three cats go to this facility spanning about a decade, with some time in the middle when I was not living nearby and used a different vet. They saw my late cat Soren and he loved everyone there. He had a dental surgery and mass removal, kidney disease diagnosed and treated, and a rare lung condition that we unfortunately didnt fully manage in the short time before he passed suddenly of an unrelated heart condition. Everyone was lovely to me wanting to express how much they liked him after he was gone. I brought my new cat Colby in to see them and hes enthusiastically pro-Broadway. My older cat Mikko is scared of everyone and hes much better there than at the other vet office we went to. Everyone gets side-eye (he thinks humans want to eat him) but thats a lot better than cowering and shaking. Ive mostly seen Dr. Perry and Dr. Rolff a little bit...both are excellent caring vets who take time to talk about why they are running tests and what the results mean. They will call you at 9PM that night to get you results instead of waiting for the next day.Yes, its expensive. Vet care is expensive. So is human health care, and for vet care theres rarely insurance and what insurance exists is basically useless. They are cheaper than some other facilities, though, and will give you a quote or work with you on paring things down if you ask.

Every time I call to make an appointment the person who answers the phone seems upset, annoyed, or just short with me. I have spoken with a different person ever time I call and they all seem like Im not worth there time. And anyone you work with at the front desk never seems to be particularly friendly. The prices at this vets office is extremely high, but that is not uncommon for Chicago. Its $75+ per exam and you have to have an exam with every vaccination. The vet has always seemed thorough though. I just wish I didnt get off the phone and feel upset because of there poor phone etiquette.

Review №86

My experience at this vet has been good overall--the technicians I have seen seem to take good care of my cat and listen to my requests to pick and choose which vaccines I wish to provide to my indoor cat at which time. However, and this may be a trait of most vets, I do feel that pricing could be much more transparent. I feel like every time I go to the vet, I have no idea what my bill will be when I leave. Costs do seem high, and I was shocked to find that a routine teeth cleaning for my cat (including initial blood work, anesthesia, and possible tooth extraction) would cost from $700 to $1,300. Also, I feel like I always have to ask what the prices are for shots/meds/services as they are performing them. It would be great if they could be more upfront about fees so that the consumer doesnt feel deceived every time they leave. :)

I moved over to the Ukrainian Village area which is pretty far from Dr. Kas! However, I would still go to him no mater where I lived. Its not just him. Its the whole staff. VERY passionate about my pets and their well being. The place is not glamorous at all. But neither is a sick dog with diarrhea. And they have no trouble still hugging a puppy that stinks of vomit. Thank you ladies and guys for making sometimes a hard situation more comfortable by your love for our animals.

It’s July 2018 as I write this. Dr Perry is the only vet our dog calms down around, and Dr Rolf walked us through some illnesses with our cats that was the only advice we had gotten at that point that calmed us down.Roseanne and Michael (and all the admin staff I can’t name from memory) give great advice and just by talking give you a sense of how good the hands you’re in are.Prices are fair and cheaper by virtue of how little extraneous work is required. No, you aren’t in a Lincoln Park Vet waiting room that was designed by the Property Brothers.Yes, you are likely going to wait a long time, but you will likely get squeezed in today. We do have other vets like Banfield that we use for schedule-able stuff like teeth cleaning and dog vaccines. For everything else—rashes, sudden behavior changes, scary bathroom stuff, we go here. And always will.
