I coordinated a work event through SunSea about a month in advance of the actual date and everything went off without a hitch! They were extremely responsive, shared food and drink ideas and worked with me on a date and time. We went on a Friday and saw an amazing sunset over the Chicago skyline and had a great open bar for 3 hours. The staff was very friendly and Ive recommended the company to many co-workers already. I dont write reviews often but this was a great, hassle free and super fun experience!

The views in the evening were great, along with the service! We were on the boat for 3 hours, but it felt so much shorter since we had a blast! Thanks Sun Sea!

The crew was very friendly and had everything I wanted. It was very relaxing and comforting. They made sure everything was going great and smooth. This is the best charter Ive ever been on.

I had the perfect birthday party on the sunsea. The captain was amazing and very accomidating. The best way to see the Chicago skyline is definitely by boat. I could not ask for a better crew to kick off my birthday party with. The catered food was amazing and you cannot beat the open bar package.

First of all, before booking with this company please check out their many yelp reviews that are similar to the situation I am about to describe. There seem to be some great experiences but there is a reoccuring pattern of late cancellations by the company, no communication from them etc. We planned a birthday event roughly 2 weeks in advance for a Friday night. After about a week and not hearing from the company we proceeded to call multiple times to multiple numbers as well as send emails to no response. We had booked it yet could not get any hold of the company at all. Finally two days before the event we receive an apologetic email that no one had responded and asked us to call a different number the next day to pay a deposit and proceed as discussed two weeks earlier. The next day comes and at this point no answers across the board and the new number seems to have blocked our number. This absolutely ruined a friends birthday event and this seems to be a non stop pattern from peoples bachelorettes to their birthdays. If anything I please encourage you to read yelp reviews that indicate this is a constant pattern over many years. Some people have a great experience it seems but it is extremely clear this company has no problem ruining some of the biggest moments of peoples lives by their shiesty behavior. Its so incredibly unethical in that regard and I request that anyone reading this choose a different more ethical company. If you have heard from a woman named Christina from this company please be aware she will jerk you around and stop answering if she feels.

Great staff we had a wonderful time period

I was excited to use this company. We set up a charter and they sent me a contract to sign which I did. Then I attempted to call the company and pay my deposit. For 3-4 weeks I called over 10 times, left messages, and sent numerous emails. By the time someone answered the phone over a month later, she told me that the weekend had booked up at some point and she would look into it and call me back. Of course she never did and ignored more of my messages after that. Ive never had a company avoid someone trying to give them business to such an extreme.

Horrible experience. They took the boat out for a test run less than 48 hours before our party was booked, and then called to cancel saying the motor was over heating. Now, while I understand things happen, they did NOTHING to help us find a new yacht. We were scrambling last minute trying to figure out what we were going to do with our party guests. After we found another company willing to host our party for an increase in price, they refused to cover the difference in cost from the contract we signed with them and the additional cost of the new boat we wound up chartering.Im giving them the 1 star for not helping find a new boat, not making the situation right by paying for the difference for the new yacht, only refunding what we already paid in full, and waiting until last minute to take out the boat. Had we canceled on them less than 48 hours in advance, they would have said too bad and kept our money. Complete disappointment.

I booked SunSea for my sisters bachelorette party 3 months in advance, paid the deposit, did everything I was asked. I had 10 girls fly in from the east coast to celebrate on the yacht. We spent hundreds of dollars on yacht/boat paraphernalia, sailor hats, etc. Exactly 1.5 hours prior to meeting the yacht on the dock, we received a phone call that they were canceling due to the captain being in an accident. I offered my sincerest apologies, and asked what their backup plan was. There was none. Christina told me she would call me back in 30 minutes to check back in and would make some calls. Within 15 minutes I found a licensed and insured captain who was at Burnham Harbor itself, willing to man the boat. I called SunSea back 20+ times and left voicemails - they never returned any calls, or called back like they said they would.They completely destroyed my sisters bachelorette party. Being June in Chicago, there was obviously no other boat company that had availability on that short notice.This was 10 days ago. I have called SunSea multiple times since then, I have emailed them, I STILL have not heard back. Reading over reviews, I see other patrons have had the same issue. They have not refunded my deposits of HUNDREDS of dollars.I am completely disgusted and disturbed with their lack of customer service. A refund would be the very minimum I would expect in this situation. I have never regretted anything more than I regret booking this criminal company.
