This location does not answer its phone. Ever. Tried repeatedly over two days for extended periods of time. No answer.I also got an argument from the lady at the front counter when I went in to buy 25 books and five rolls of stamps. Like she keep asking me if I really wanted that many. I kept saying yes, wondering why she was arguing with me about taking my money. Very strange.

Honestly the post office is a waste of time and taxpayers money the people they are extremely lazy and slow and they absolutely provide no service besides wasting your time do the American taxpayer a favor and shut down the post office there’s other delivery services that are more up-to-date and a lot faster than this waste of taxpayer money everybody there needs to be fired and put in jail

The lady behind the counter helping someone else was so rude to me as soon as I walked in the door. Ive never even been to this location before... Chesterton is awful... The people are so mean.I even made a comment to the other lady working there on wow that was unnecessary..

This review is of the Postmaster. We had a delivery issue. The Postmaster promptly took care and resolved the issue. Thank you for your help and assistance. It was really appreciated.

This post office has serious employee problems. When a rush hits you better pack a lunch! I generally drive all the way to Portage to get good service with a pleasant attitude. Ive looked at the reviews and saw a couple of good. Those must be from friends or relatives!!!!

I appreciate that this branch has an automated postal kiosk for after hours mailing of packages and letters that need to be postmarked by a specific date. Very handy when you cant get to the post office during normal business hours.

The employees are great at the Chesterton United States Post Office. They will help you out if you dont know how to use any of the machines to mail packages or just your mail yourself. The inside of the building is always very clean and well maintained. If you were not home and missed a delivery they are very helpful and quick when you come in to pick up your mail. And if youve lived in the same place for awhile, you usually get to know your mailman/mailwoman, and they get to know you which is nice because they notice if your mail was accidentally put with someone elses.

The service here is sub par at best. An employee with a broken arm should not be placed at the receiving counter since moving packages, typing, etc.. requires two hands. Whomever is making the employee placement decisions here needs to be replaced.

Although the clerks were civil, my securely-wrapped package -- using official PO box and tape -- mailed from this PO showed up at its destination completely torn open, with all contents missing...but the package was carefully wrapped back up with clear tape.I dont know whats going on at this branch, but their anger towards their customers seems to result in extremely unprofessional service.

The service at this post office is beyond horrible. They misdeliver your mail...Nobody cares. They neglect to go down your street for days at a time....Nobody cares. If you schedule a mail hold, they begin and end the hold whenever the mood strikes them. If you ask the postmaster why you havent gotten your mail for two weeks, he will go out of his way to try and make it your fault or to convince you that youre not even supposed to get any mail...but admit that there might be an internal problem? NEVER. They take no responsibility and they show no responsibility for doing their own jobs. If there is any question as to why people do not want to use the postal service....the Chesterton Indiana Post Office is the answer.

This office is one of the worse and hasnt tried to improve. Not to mention my post person cant close my mailbox. Even with a BIG sign that says please close.

Why not local number. The j termed was down at local post office and couldn’t call to find out if up.

This is the worst post office I have ever had to deal with. For the past 5 months I have had numerous checks that have disappeared after being hand delivered to the post office clerks. Since I have complained, I now get no mail at all!!! The new post master, JIM, has been rude and unhelpful, screaming at me over the phone and refusing to help. This situation is intolerable! There are always long lines and incredible wait times to get service and they paly a radio in the post office box section at top volume all day long. I actually went tot he post office to get a zip code for another area of Indiana and the clerk told me she couldnt help me! Unbelieveable!!
