My husband and I had to move from Ohio to Virginia in less than 3 months due to work and Hyde Park has been so helpful in every way. Everyone in the office is so kind, helps with anything that you may need which makes you feel at home and safe. Maintenance has always been to our home within an hour if we had needed to call for usual home upkeep. We have been able to make our first place feel so much like a home because of Hyde Park and we are so grateful that this is where we are living. Thank you to everyone who has helped us. We really can’t express how much we appreciate Hyde Park.

My husband and I did enjoy living here, now that we moved on and live somewhere else I do sometimes miss our townhome because it was our first place together but I would have to politely say leasing didn’t really show much care for certain concerns and the rent went higher and higher for no reason but overall leasing were nice people and we enjoyed living here the time that we did! But Richmond now is good to us.

Moving from my own home to an apartment was a big change. From the initial meeting to move in day, the leasing staff, especially Patricia, was incredible. The staff is attentive, considerate and very welcoming.Any maintenance issues I encounter require nothing more from me than one request and it is quickly resolved. The grounds are well kept and the trash and recycling is removed frequently, they are very good about salting when its icy out, and the parking lots are well lit. Before relocating I toured several apartment complexes. I chose Hyde Park and I have no regrets.

The moving in process was simplified and was very user friendly. My girlfriend and I even signed the lease electronically, which I appreciated. I had the lease documents right on my phone instantly. The unit we moved into is simply great. The amenities are absolutely fantastic. We love the kitchen island and the gas fireplace. The staff at the front office are very welcoming and display great knowledge. Every maintenance request is dealt with swiftly and professionally. The neighborhood is wonderful. I fully recommend it to anyone looking to move in.

I have been residing here since the beginning of 2019 & I don’t have many complaints. The water has had to be shut off a couple times due to other property issues I assume, but I typically always get notification & they turn it back on pretty soon after, (pretty common at my last few apartments as well). Management has done a good job at listening and responding to my concerns & maintenance is quick to respond. Thank you to all that you’ve done to make my living here easy and convenient!

I dont write reviews however my time at Hyde Park has been enough to write one. The staff (office and maintenance) are very responsive and gets things done in a timely fashion. When I first moved in I had quite a few issues with their previous maintenance team, however in the last few months, I have noticed great improvements with their new maintenance supervisor, as my work orders are being completed within a day or two. what ever Hyde park is doing, keep it up!

My family and I have had a pretty good experience living here so far. Weve been here for almost 6 months. There have been your usual maintenance issues, but all have been fixed properly. All staff members weve interacted with are respectful and kind. The property manager is wonderful! My only great complaint is that the property is NOT a non-smoking community and our neighbor smokes inside. Our son has asthma and weve had to spend a bit of money purchasing and running air purifiers to keep the smoke level down. I would give 5 stars without hesitation if the property would implement a non-smoking policy.

My fiancé and I have been residents here at Hyde Park for the past 2 years. During this time, especially with COVID, the management team has been amazing. They’ve continued to promote a community feel and have support us throughout the pandemic in more ways than one. They seem to always be working to improve the facilities, especially with the new landscaping plans for this spring! We hope to stay a part of the Hyde Park family as long as possible, it truly is home.

Quiet enough area but, issues go unresolved for far too long. Seems like they can get contractors for landscaping and paving right away, but cant get contractors when it comes to an almost constant leak in my apartment, or a cabinet hanging on by a couple of screws since my fiancee and I moved in back in april. The ladies in the office are helpful and friendly, as are the maintenance crew, but nice words and warm faces dont fix the mold, broken cabinets, leaky ceilings and the occasional minor flooding from heavy rains.

I must say my first review was not great. I’m doing this again because they have actually much improved. Through all the craziness of this virus they’ve been great and actually trying to help people. Most apartment complexes around here to my knowledge have done nothing to try and make the tenants less nervous about what’s going on but Hyde park has actually done a really good job. The maintenance staff is friendly albeit busy. You regularly find them cruising around on golf carts, picking up trash, giving advice or making your home better and more comfortable. I have lived in Hyde Park Apartments for over three years now. The complex has nice welcoming office staff and maintenance workers, that provides you with the utmost professional care and services. They are nothing short of amazing. The grounds are kept up well, with weekly/biweekly landscaping done throughout the complex. The office continues to create a nice, and inviting environment by organizing monthly holiday theme events. I especially loved their pool safety event, which was held in the pool with our local police officers, fire Department, and community members, who provided information to our youth in regards to pool safety. Afterwards they hung out with the kids for games and snow cones. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

Ive been living here for quite a while and ive been happy with my home here. Ive had a couple work orders needed to be addressed, but maintenance fixed them really quick and I havent had an issue with them since. I saw the model before I made my decision to move in and I wanted to see my actual apartment before I moved in as well and they let me with no issues. I know they said theyre 40 something years old, but for the age mines in good condition. (you have your expected wear and tear of course). If you are still in the process of making your decision Id recommend seeing if youre able to see the unit youre gonna move into so you can decide for yourself since some of them can look different. I decided to paint my apartment (best decision) because it made it feel so much more like home. My kids love the pool and the events they have for the residents. After reading the reviews, I felt it was appropriate to share the condition of the unit my one-year-old granddaughter is living in. They have resided in this unit under four weeks! An ongoing water leak that was painted over is causing the paint to peel and mold is appearing to wall paper the room and ceiling. The sheet rock is soft to the touch and as of week four you can visually see three large areas well over 4 feet each. There is a heavy odor of gas in the unit. The smoke detector is chirping requesting a battery change. The air-conditioning is in need of cleaning and repair. Upon examination the 1 inch poly filter in the air conditioner looked to be 9 to 12 months old and filthy! The First electric bill which covers under 30 days was $278. Most likely, the lack of maintenance prior to tenents possession is a contributing factor. I would estimate the air filter airflow blockage to be 90-95%.With that said, It appears staff intentionally rented the unit knowing of the potential health hazards. Upon notifying them, they stated prior tenants never mentioned/notified them therefore this public review should stand as notification. I also sense a pattern for management’s responses to negative reviews, responses are geared towards complaints that do not involve health hazards. I assume by not responding there is no acknowledgment of the conditions. Ignoring Inhabitable conditions does not exempt from the repercussions of the laws of Virginia. The manner in which this unit was delivered deserves attention from the local health department and demands a refresher in humanity training by the staff. If you’re reading my review I’m certain you have good reason. I have photos but do not see a link for uploading. The American dream is a nice home and happy healthy family. I can count on my hands how many reviews I have written due to the time involved. Hopefully my time will contribute to someones American dream.

Hyde Park Apartments is the worst place to live in Chester, Va. The Maintenance department glued a dirty bath mate inside the bathroom tube to cover damages. Both faucets had mold and mildew stain. The refrigerator rubber was filthy with rusting inside the freezer. All pipes had open holes around the plumbing area. Under the kitchen sink, the wall was exposed. Anything that wanted to enter the apartment could freely join us.Rusting was covering the bathroom light fixtures. Bathroom vent wasnt cleaned since the house was built in the 1970s, and it made loud sounds. The apartment was so cold when outside was 70 degrees. The thermostat had to reach 80 degrees before the apartment got warm, and the auto switch never worked. It was manually turned off. The smell of gas was in the air upon arriving. Within 48 hours, the energy company came , found a gas leak and shut down the 6 apartment house. We stayed in the apartment for less than 48 hours and reported 2 pages of to do repairs to management. Within 1 hours of moving out, management sent an email saying ALL repairs have been completed. The development was located 6 hours away from where we lived, so we were sent photos of the apartment before moving in. All I can say is stay far away from Hyde Park Apartments.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE- especially unit 4109R. If I could give this place zero or negative reviews, I would. When I requested to see the apartment I was planning to lease, I was told the unit would not be ready for review until the day before move-in. I toured the apartment and noticed a gas smell, but was told that it was normal because there are gas lines close to the apartment. After signing the lease and moving in on a Saturday at 4pm, I noticed many repairs needed to be done that could not have been noticed with a 5 minute walk through. There were numerous open holes around pipes, the washer and dryer connections were not capped off, there were pipes in the laundry room closet that werent closed off and were supported by paper towels. The closet in the bedrooms shelves were being held up by paper towels. The appliances are all at least 15-20 years old, and the sealing on the refrigerator was loose. I also noticed a gas smell when I used the stove, but was assured by the property manager that it was because the stove had not been used in 3 weeks. I gave it a couple of days as suggested. On Monday, after living in the unit for 2 days, I noticed more gas smells in the apartment. I reported it to the emergency maintenance line and they came and found zero leaks in my apartment and suggested that I did not know how to properly use the stove. I complained once again to the main office, and was told that there is no leak in the apartment. I was then given the name of the gas company from the main office. Mind you, I had to use my own personal cell phone to make the call because they refused to call. once the gas company arrived, they found a gas leak in my utility closet. Only after the gas company came to shut off the gas to the entire building did Hyde Park decide to assist with the gas leak. They charge an outrageous amount to break the lease due to them neglecting a gas leak in my unit, and over two pages of repairs that should have been completed before I moved in. The unit I moved into- 4109R, needs constant heating. I moved in May of 2017, and needed to run the heat at 80 degrees just to sleep because the unit was so cold at night. This will definitely run up the gas bill the tenant is responsible for. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. They are nothing but slumlords who are out to get your money and they have a maintenance team who does half done jobs and expects the tenant to have to deal with them coming into your apartment at any time of the day to make repairs that should have been completed before move-in.

I moved into this place thinking it was going to be a nice & safe place to live but no. The staff never informed me that there would be a neighbor underneath me so theres constant noise and drug smells. Then the monthly bill comes, they add utility charges divided by the whole buildings usage so im getting taken advantage of by paying high bills when i barely use the utilities which gets added to my rent. So i went from a $987 rent to $1160 a month. NO! So i cant wait to move out. Im just going to pay the fee to leave the lease early. The place is noisy. The kids throw rocks at the vehicles. My boyfriend lives here and he has reported roaches on four occasions since in the last four months. I suspected that the new neighbors above his apartment brought them in when they moved because prior there were no issues. I even suspected that the new next door neighbor moved out after only being here two months because of the issue. My boyfriend has lived here for three years without incident but has seen neighbors come and go due to various maintenance issues like their apartment leaking when it rains. After the first treatment, I had my boyfriend tell the property manager to spray the entire eight unit building all at once, otherwise the roaches will just go from apartment to apartment. It was then confirmed the the upstairs neighbors brought them when they moved in.After the fourth report, I called Chesterfield County, the Health Department, and the Office of Landlords and Tenants, who advised me to have my boyfriend submit a letter in writing with thirty days notice that if left untreated arrangements will be made to pay his rent directly to Chesterfield General District Court - Civil Division. My boyfriend has also, recently (in the last year) had several additional maintenance issues including- the stove, which has to be replaced and is still malfunctioning exposing him to gas- the dishwasher and sink, which has standing water. This took maintenance two days to resolve- spraying for antsThe main office is not very responsive and it has taken multiple calls, voicemails, and office visits to get matters addressed.

I moved here for work and they had, what I thought at the time, was a really good deal. When I first moved in the place smelled like a wet dog, which should have been my first indicator that something was wrong. However, we brought our own steam cleaner and used baking soda in order to re-clean the place.Upon further inspection we noticed that there was a lot of cigarette burns on the bathroom sink and tub. Apparently I was too naive at the time to realize that what I assumed was a cigarette could have been a number of different things as there is a very high drug prevalence in the neighborhood. I have spent more money on candles, sprays, and running my fan in order to cover the smell of weed that seeps into my apartment from my neighbors on a daily basis. The worst part is that it seeps into my closet so it soaks into all my clothes and makes them all smell like weed too. Most nights I wake up feeling nauseous and agitated because the smell is so strong it wakes me up from a dead sleep. Also, for the first maybe five or six months every time I showered I had to wash the walls. Wash. the. walls. That shouldnt need to be a thing! The steam from the shower made all the goo and gunk from whatever the person was smoking to finally seep out. It was disgusting and a pain. The dishwasher constantly retains water and doesnt properly clean your dishes so you end up doing it all by hand anyways. Ive just stopped using it altogether. If you still want to live here, make sure you do not get an apartment on the bottom floor. If it rains expect your apartment to flood, your wooden furniture to be ruined, your carpets to be soaked and stained, and the smell of wet dog to linger in your apartment for weeks. Its not only a safety and health hazard to have water sitting for so long, but it is also attracts bugs. I went away for a few days and returned to have my kitchen, bathroom, and both rooms carpets totally soaked. I hadnt had a problem with bugs up to that point, but when I returned there were spiders everywhere. You might think it is a nice safe family friendly neighborhood with all the children running around, but once you live here long enough you realize it is anything but. The kids play ding dong ditch (or in this case they just knock on your windows and doors and run away), they are constantly running and walking around in the streets without regard for cars, and as mentioned there is a huge drug problem here to the point when I mentioned I lived here to some of my friends they commented that most of the drug dealers live here, which I can now see is true. The laundry facility they have on site is a total joke. We went in there to try it out, but nothing works. You have to have a card in order to use the machines, but that doesnt really help when all the cards are continually gone. It might not be a problem if someone was ever in the office, but there is usually only one person in the office at a time and they either have 12 people waiting on them, are out touring, are out doing god knows what for hours, or just straight up arent there. Also, depending on which person you get can mean the difference between actually getting what you asked for done or having it completely blown off. You have 7 days to pick up a package from their office, they do not notify you if you have received a package so if someone tries to surprise you by sending something, surprise is on them because whatever it was is getting sent back. And if you do know you have an order you have to time it just right in order to pick it up because, like I mentioned, no one is ever in the office. There are open holes under the kitchen sink, shoddy repair jobs where damaged or molded flooring is just cut out a single square or triangle and a poorly cut replacement is glued in there, and the list goes on and on but I think I made my point. I would not move here after knowing what I know.

Do NOT move here!! These apartments are so outdated. Everything from the paint(lead base) to the un leveled floors, to the always broken AC unit and rude people who work in the office. During the summer time its by far the worst, theyre to cheap to replace the AC they keep trying to repair the same old AC units they have for over 20 years. They are extremely unpleasant an unprofessional. They are too overly priced to be so outdated.

This place is absolutely terrible. Management is the worst, they are a bunch of unforgiving Ass holes. Please anyone who reads this STAY AWAY FROM HYDE PARK! they are impossible to get a hold of in the main office, will never return your calls, the maintenance people are unfriendly and will just track mud into your unit even if you ask to remove their shoes. They are quick to jump down your throat about anything that is wrong with your unit. I wish they would bring back the old management that use to run the place, they were the most caring people in the world and made you feel important. AGAIN STAY AWAY FROM HYDE PARK TOWN HOMES IN CHESTER THEY SUCK BIG TIME, WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE LIVING HERE

Honestly I wish I could leave no stars! I have lived in MANY communities, and this, by far, was the WORST experience EVER!!!!!!! First, it took us 2 months to receive the lease because the rental Lady was new and slow....that was a bit ridiculous though...then, we were told we would have a washer and dryer...no, just hookups...they claimed we had a newly renovated model (they forgot to mention that it was vacant for a year, and renovated because it had caught on fire --btw its been 2 fires since I moved here) but the renovation left us with not being able to use the bathtub for a week after move in and having to have the doors replaced because they were horrible quality...Thats not all...They forgot to mention how everything is on your bill at once, so you end up paying a large amount per month, then you get charged for 2 months utilities after you move out...they took away the drop box...our air conditioner wasnt working from the time we moved in, and took them 2 WEEKS to get it together as we suffered in the dead summer heat with 3 children...they gave us window units but you could only use one at a time....when winter came, guess what happened...the heat went out and they had to repair that!!!!!!! I have no idea who the new management is, I recognize no one anymore, nor did they announce themselves...theyre a lot nicer than the previous people, but Hyde Park has left an AWFUL taste in my mouth. I couldnt wait to vacate the premesis!I have never gotten an apology or even a slight piece of care for the hell that I endured while living here...iI havent even listed everything, but I think its enough.

This was my boyfriend and Is first apartment and it was decent for the year we lived there close until the end. There was a problem where too much moisture was coming from one of the units upstairs and put a hole in our ceiling and we called them (on multiple occasions) and it never got done. So that was one thing. There was also an occasion where I went to get a package (of MINE) and one of the lazy ladies who works in the apartment (MIKA) was sitting in the leasing office on the phone and I missed them by a couple minutes (even though she could open the door), at first I asked her nicely if shed get my package and she pretty much refused and was rude about it. If you were sitting on your behind having a personal conversation, how hard could it have been to get a package that takes literally a couple seconds to get. So naturally, I was rude back. Anyway, she ended up complaining (on ME) and they banned me even though she was the one being rude. They dont value their residents at all. We all know how rude some people in customer service may be. The price for the size of the apartments (at least the one bedroom) is pretty expensive. Oh, and they charged me for an extra day at move-in and said because that had been done by previous management, it wasnt their problem pretty much. No regard at all. Not to mention the one bedroom I had didnt have a window and stupidly I didnt see the apartment until AFTER I had signed the lease. It made me feel like I was in hell not having any natural sunlight. And then when we moved, I busted my ass for days cleaning up because I was raised to leave others property as your own, and they had the nerve to send me a bill for 450 on top of the fact that they kept the 625 security deposit saying things were messed up when they werent. And when I asked for pictures, she said shed be happy to send them to me and NEVER did. Exactly. I wouldnt recommend this place. When I told her they didnt do a walk-in inspection with me to see some of the issues that were there upon move in, she told me that The employees are sales agents.. pretty much saying that its not their job to inform you that a walk-in and a walk-out is YOUR job to request to protect yourself.
