New Review: 5 Stars Again! Lance had the store set up for service and sales while being great about Covid-19 safety all the while. Took my bike in Changed out the tire and tube and had me back on the road in an hour. We buy all our cycling items here including the bikes. Both Mountain and Road bikes just re adjusted by Lance and road today. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. They know their business and know bikes!

Called here to check prices. Got what I needed. Headed right up there, there was 1 person being helped, 1 person waiting, then us (my son and myself).In come 2 other people while were waiting.The guy working there asks me who was next, me. Then asked what I needed (flat repair) ok. 1 the guy being helped then me. OkayHe asked the woman behind me what she needed, she tells him whatever and he takes her right back...wait, what??!!Then he proceeds to help the guy behind her...WHAT???Called another shop while this circus was going on, got a MUCH better price so I suppose I should thank them for the poor customer service...nahhh.Great business model. NOT!!

Called this location on a Friday and explained what I needed done to my sons bike. Was told theyd be happy to fix it and drop it off on Saturday. Upon getting there, Im told Sorry, were only doing flat tire fixes. Extremely annoyed about this.

Salesman had no knowledge of the bikes they carry, and I felt extremely rushed. It was a bad experience for me especially while being in the process of spending a couple of thousands on a bike. Long story short I ended up going to Trek down the street who were absolutely awesome, helpful and very knowledgeable of their products.

Been in twice for tubes and miscellaneous supplies. Great service both times. They are super busy with the virus but always helpful.Busted my rear derailleur today so Im dropping off my EMTB tomorrow for a bit of repair work. :)

Service is KING! I have lived in Virginia Beach for two years now and have had my bike serviced at various shops. Conte’s in Chesapeake has consistently serviced my bike the right way the first time and the mechanics have always been a delight to work with. I always ask them a series of questions to better understand my repairs and they are always patient and eager to answer them. They also go out of their way to give helpful suggestions without being pushy to make money. Conte’s Chesapeake is now my default shop for repairs. Thanks guys!

Above and beyond service, they dont just sell you bikes they make sure the bike fits you well, they make sure that the frame of the bike fits well with your height. If they do t have the right frame for you they will order it and also after purchasing they will measure your seat height and they make sure you get that 30 degree bend on your knee so you dont wear down your knees. After 1,000 riding miles my bicycle needed some love. Contes Bike Shop performed a level 2 tune-up and returned my bike back to me looking and functioning as good as when I bought it. Ill be returning to their shop for my next servicing.

Excellent experience. I broke a spoke and had problems with my rear shifting system. I brought it in to the Chesapeake location and they performed a repair and a Level 2 tune up. They returned the bike not only repaired and tuned, but totally cleaned and detailed. I’m thrilled with their service. And on top of that, it was ready days ahead of schedule. As always, I’m very satisfied with their service.

Paid a bit over 500.00usd for a new Cannondale bike for my wife and no set up, no fitting, just tried to push us out and up sell what should be covered by warranty. Later at home rear wheel nor front wheel was not TRUED.Obviously, merely took out of the box, assembled and pushed out the door with out making adjustment or fine tuning.Walmart quality prep at best! NOT HAPPY. Expensive price but little integrity obviously.

My bike had fallen to a state of extreme disrepair. I took it to Contes, Greenbrier to explore whether it could be salvaged. I was more than pleased with the care and expertise that were put into the restoration of my ride to a fine-tuned racing machine. The tech working on my bike could have been more sincere or direct in what the repair would entail and then making the magic happen.

I searched the internet for a reliable place to fix my wifes bike which I recently inherited as she no longer rides, but now sticks to other less physical hobbies. The bike had sat dormant in our house for over a year. I took it to Contes Bike shop in Chesapeake because other reviews were very favorable of their service and price. I was extremely happy with both the service and the price. Having had some experience with bike shops in large cities I was prepared for sticker shock once the bike was ready. The service was about a week and the price was extremely reasonable. I would echo previous reviews and recommend Contes Chesapeake VA to anyone else and look forward to future business when I purchase new bikes. Thanks again.

Dude, Clay and Jennifer were super awesome. They were friendly and helpful. Clay really helped introduce to some important features of my bike and some maintenance items. Jennifer and Clay both advised well with accessories and a kids bike. Great shop. By from your local bike shop if you can. It makes a difference.

Have a 1992 Raleigh 10 speed mountain bike. Over the winter, some of the cables rusted out and a shifter lever broke. Contes fixed everything. When I got home, I found the shifter levers totally different than what I was used to. I wish the shop guy would have explained the difference to me.

Under recommendation from a friend, I decided to visit Contes in Chesapeake. I had been to several stores within a 40 mile radius shopping for my first road bike. This store ended up winning my business because every employee is passionate about biking and sincere in their recommendations. I brought my wifes adult trike in. This isnt standard, configuration, its built for handicapped. Its built like a wheelchair with a bike front end and she pedals with her hands. It was in really rough shape. Now it looks almost new at a reasonable price. Great job at the Chesapeake store.

I dont have one of those high end bikes that cost as much as a cheap car, so I was concerned the repair would exceed the value of my bike. I had a broken rear derailleur and was just going to buy the part and install it myself. I consider myself mechanically inclined and it didnt appear too difficult. I appreciate they offered honest advice and told me what was involved in doing this job. For the price they charged, plus giving my bike a good look over, it was very reasonable and surely saved me a headache if something had gone wrong or had other issues. I will definitely go back to them when I need something for my bike.

Absolutely worthless for customer service. I’ve been here twice, once to look at bikes and once for parts support. The first time, they tried to pressure me into buying a bike when I just wanted to look at their stock. The second time, the clerk couldn’t be bothered to look for a solution to my problem. Both times I was treated like a nuisance. I’d suggest taking your business to either REI or any bike shop in Richmond.

Robert was great - Id bought the wrong tire size for my 27 1/4 rim, which is apparently a rare size nowadays; my bike frame is pretty old; he let me exchange it for the right size, which they happened to have in stock, and was real nice about it, no trouble at all.

Ive been in several times, always impressed by their service. Most recently I had broken the connector that holds my handlebars on. I took my bike in, they had the new part in-stock and installed it in a matter of minutes.

The only thing better than the fit (they really dialed me in) was the customer service!

I received a Mountain Bike as an Anniversary Prize from my company. The riding position for me was a little trying. The enthusiastic team at Contes was able to recommend a stem extender that placed me in a very comfortable riding position. They were quick with the installation and very reasonable with the cost. We werent sure that it could be fixed, so that was awesome. We visited again with another minor problem. Problem resolved. They took care of us each time. This is where my son will be taking his bike from now on.

Ive been to this store for different repair for my handcycle, they have an excellent service department and the crew is helpful. Im one of those people who do not like any and everybody working on my bike but Contes Volvo Parkway is the shop for me.

We had a double stroller that was damaged in transit by the airlines, although we could not prove it. We called Contes Bike shop and brought it to Clay who immediately diagnosed the problem and within 5 minutes he brought out a part and had it fixed. On top of that, he said, No charge and that he was happy that he could help. He was one of the most courteous persons that we have ever dealt with. Amazing service at the Greenbrier location!I live in DC now and had been to five bike shops in the city looking for a set of headset bearings for my S-Works Tarmac. None of them could find it--some of them may not have even tried. I went back home to Chesapeake to visit family and the people at Contes hunted down the Specialized warranty reps and found the bearings that I had been searching for for more than a month!I know finding these bearings wasnt easy, so thanks again!

My husband ordered a Adult trike for me for my birthday back in march. First off there price the quoted was mich different than the va beach location quoted us. They did come down on there price but was still $20 higher than the va beach quote. It was a tue evening the sales guy told my husband it was being ordered that day and comes in on about a week and a day or two to put together, we should have it be the following friday. They told us someome would call to let us know it had come in. The following week we never got a call, so we called store on wed checking on the bike, it had just been ordered the day before, lie #1, so we waited another week n half, no call. We called them back still no bike, my husband called back 4 days later, said bike is here but it came with no chain, and trikes take special chains. We have had no more contact and its now may 5, my husband just called them today and they said bike is ready, my husband asked for some $$ off the price of the bike for this ridiculous customer service, he offereed him a store gift card, we dont plan on ever buying another darn thing from this store. Im aware a trike is about $425 purchase and doesnt compare to the 4000 bikes they sell, but customer service and satisfaction are the samething. STAY AWAY NOTHING BUT LIE AFTER LIE...DAVID

Dont go unless you know exactly what you want. I came in looking for some new cleats to go with old pedals on my old bike. I had the pedal and the shoes with the old cleats still attached. The sales person showed me a set of cleats that work with all models of that pedal brand. Well, I get home, tried them out, and they didnt work. I got on the manufacturer website, found the pedals (they still make the same model 30 years later), and read where the model I was sold is not compatible with the model of pedal I took to the store. So, I drive 40 minutes back to the store to get my money back. Different sales person who leads me to believe the uninformed sales person has made this mistake before. No offer of a discount, only a very curt sorry about that. Maybe they have what you need at our VA Beach store. Uh, no thanks. Now that I know what I need, I will pay 30% less and order them online. Contes never again.

Came in there tondrop off my bike for what I thought was bad hearing after a few min they made some quick adjustments on my cruiser and had me back out the door saving me a lot of money on new gears and didnt try to sell me a new bike.
