When you think of an auction house you think of getting at least somewhat close to what your items are worth when you try to sell them... That is not the case here! I tried to sell some very rare and collectible items and they were willing to auction them off at a measly $5! I was out quite a bit of money and I will never go back!!

Terrible to make business with them since 2 years I gave my stuff to them and I am still waiting for my payment I call many time leave a messages nobody returns my call they gave me a insufficient funds check in November 2019 and today I am still waiting for that payment they play with you they not take this seriously

They auctioned our business assets on 2/19/2020 and issued a check on 3/6/2020 which was returned for insufficient funds. See attached check image. Still to this date have not repaid us for this bad check even after we have emailed Gene and Chet Daniels several times over the past month. They sell your stuff and write bad checks- turning them in to the DPOR as we speak - Do not trust this company!

Ive been to this Auction several times all with great experiences. I love this place.Ive also been to their produce auction at the Farmers Market in VA beach. These are truly great honest family folks. Ive even started going without my husband because I feel safe there. And I almost forgot, the bird is adorable and wants you to talk to it. See even the bird is nice. I cant say enough good things about this place.

I love going to the auction on Monday nights. I always find a treasure that I have to have. The people that work there are the best. You never know what you will find.

Awesome big time fun. Friendly, and colorful folks. You dont need a lot of money to have a ball here. Bring five bucks and score your treasure - whatever your personal treasure is. Its laid back, come in, go out and come back in again. A great way to bust up some stress.

This used to be a nice auction years ago, but, ever since Mrs. Daniels, who actually owns the auction house, stepped back, and Chet Eugene Daniels, Gene Daniels son with felony embezzlement, credit card fraud, and obtaining money through false pretense convictions, took over, (check va.gov, circuit courts, Chesapeake & Norfolk), the business sucks and he is still a crook!!After spending three years in prison for his convictions, he took over Genes, (why?), and sellers wait literally weeks to get paid or not paid at all with some sellers getting shortchanged...........He is rude, stays in the back office instead of being professional and talking to you personally........People at front desk are rude also.I wish Mrs. Daniels was still running the business she owns and has saved Chet, and her son GENE, from bankruptcy numerous times!.......She was very nice, sellers got paid the same week items were sold and the business ran much better.....The quality of merchandise has drastically decreased and a lot of regulars simply stopped coming to the auction because people do not want to deal with CHET - THE CONVICTED FELON JAILBIRD!

This heartless company is exploiting the suffering of 105 military families by auctioning off stolen household goods that were lost by their client, highlighting the fact that the contents will contain rare, beautiful, amazing treasures that military families would have collected overseas. Anyone who has any knowledge knows the families would not have been compensated adequately for their loss of a lifetime of memories, but this horrid company will line their pockets at their expense. These are not reputable auctioneers as they will happily deal in stolen property. Their sale has gone viral and is being picked up; I expect them to not be in business long so you should stay away from them.

Too many bad experiences! If you buy furniture from the auction DO NOT leave it there. The guys they have moving the furniture around DO NOT care about the pieces! I’ve came back to terribly scared tables, buffets, hardware broken off dressers and thrown in the drawer! And NO, it wasn’t a few pieces I bought. I was spending $1000s of dollars there! It just took one of the owners over 6 months to get me a check due to me for bringing in pieces to sell in the auction last June! Excuse after excuse after phone call after phone call, and I still had to go in and stand there for over 25 minutes! Chet, Gene’s son DIDN’T even come out of the office in the back to apologize or personally take care of the situation. He made on of his employees run back and forth back and forth! Shadey and very unprofessional! Needless to say I haven’t went back to this establishment in months and months!

I have yet to have the decency of a return call with an update of my auction that was almost 5 months ago. Horrible service & possibly scam

WOW! WOW! If you ever need help emptying out a place- they are truly amazing! As a Property Manager sometimes you run across someone that needs to downsize or items that need to be removed from your unit- Call Gene Daniels Auctions. They just finished an auction for me on a Hair Salon where the tenant was evicted and they were absolutely awesome. Doesnt matter how big or small- they are always my first call! Love working with you guys!

I recently did some business with these folks and found them to be veryprofessional, honest, personable. Could not be happier with them and the job they did. If you need to get it sold I cannot think of a better option.

After reading the article on military one source i am disgusted not only with the moving company but also this auctions house. Knowing that you are auctioning military families belongings is disgusting. You might not be responsible for what the moving company is doing, but you are still responsible for the business you accept. if the comments I have read are true i hope the authorities as well as our government representatives who are contracting this moving company, prosecutes you to the fullest extent of the law.

Do not let these people have your goods on consignment,they will rip you off, they have sent a friend of mine,three different checks for over a grand each and every one of them has bounced,the items where pre-cleaned and in good shape.The Chet is a liar and a cheat.

Selling items lost by military families who were moving to or from overseas...thats disgusting. I understand you arent the original shipper but morals matter in business. You chose to take this opportunity and I hope it makes you realise what a bad idea it was. Best thing you can do now is open those damn crates and find the owners who lost precious belongings. There will be identifying information in them. Trust me. Im a military spouse...we always make sure our stuff is identifiable because things get lost. Oh, and its not abandoned property. It is LOST.

Come on guys, auctioning off boxes from military moves that were supposed to arrive in Germany just days ago is pretty shady. You should be ashamed and stop doing business with those movers. I hope that an investigation follows and that the SM is recooped from your theft.

Disgusting. You may not be the original packers or shoppers but to think that it is ok to auction off stuff that has been LOST from military moves is horrible! And boxes that havent even been attempted to ship overseas yet has made their way there. These items are not abandoned as you describe but rather STOLEN goods.

Im sorry, but I agree with the rest of the people here! You can post that its the moving company, but you are assisting them. You should refuse this auction and encourage them to post the names of the crates so they can be located! NEVER ONCE have I had crates disappear or known someone that it has happened to and had them returned to me or been told that the moving company had them and I had to claim them there! This is a scam. These are STOLEN memories from people who are FORCED to move everything they own, leaving every person they have ever loved and their reward is this theft of their personal property! Theyre selling stolen military house goods that were never returned to the families. Stuff thats been kept for years and told it was never coming back. No one signed that their family photos, personal info and maybe social security cards would be auctioned off.

Its morally reprehensible to entertain the idea of selling our military members personal belongings. The moving company that mishandled their goods is only half of this crime. Refuse to sell these families memories and lives for a quick buck. This will ruin you.

My preferred place for conducting item trades throughout Hampton Roads.The staff WILL listen and work with you; and I know. And if you are trying to start a 2nd-hand business or need to refurnish on a budget, then THIS public auction house is worth looking in to.

This is my first time attending the VB Farmers Market Aution. I brought my mother and niece along for the adventure. Although the auction itself was exciting and fun, the cashiers professionalism and sense of customer service was severely lacking. He was rude and condescending to my mother. I hope that he was just a poor representative of the company instead of the accepted norm.

Really friendly staff and the auctions are really fun. Mostly household furniture and appliances. There is also a thirft store that sells some items that were not auctioned. Selection varies from week to week and the auctions are every Monday at 6pm.

You may not be the shipper but your review of items belonging to military families is tasteless and insulting. You ought to be ashamed of what your company advertised: These Shipments are unclaimed household goods / personal property of military members who were staioned in locations such as Italy, Germany, Spain and Bahrain. Many Military members take advantage of their time stationed in these faraway places and purchase unique furniture pieces and decorative items handvrafted in these countries. HIDDEN TREASURES...The contents of thee shipments have not been seen and containers have been sealed since originally packed overseas. The shipment(s) you bid on may contain such items as antique furniture, china, crystal, artwork, TVs and other electronics or possibly collectors items.

They sell inappropriate dirty items. Place smells bad during auction when people are eating.

This company is preparing to auction off on 6 May property labeled as packed on 27 April 17, listed as unclaimed less than 2 weeks after pack out. The tone of glee on their advertisement is the icing on the cake military members take advantage of their time overseas....--the tone being come take advantage of these military members! Sure, come take advantage of people who spent years overseas, separated from loved ones and the safety and security of the United States--what a great welcome home, to be victimized by an auction house with the audacity to simultaneously post that they are only the agents for Bay Area moving...and has no information regarding concerns of the crates.... and that honesty is our policy (highlighted in blue, in case we doubted them). Sorry folks, you cant claim honesty as your policy and shuffle off concerns about stolen property. This is despicable victimization by 2 organizations who were entrusted with a lifetime of treasures--not just crystal and antiques, but family photos, diplomas, financial information and childrens artwork. This is every military persons worst nightmare.I will happily remove this post if this is not what it seems, but photographs with dates and names are pretty hard to dispute.

I purchased a room at the Tezwell Hotel auction. The room had two full size beds (mattress, box springs, bed frames), end table, desk, TV, TV armoire, iron, ironing board, desk, two lamps, alarm clock, two wall art pictures, and mirror in the bedroom and bathroom. Upon return to pick up the items in the room several, including both mattresses, box springs, end table, iron, and bathroom mirror were missing!! When asked about the missing items we were told they would go find them. The mattresses they found were WET AND STAINED! The end table came from another room which means someone else is now missing an item purchased. When confronted about the mattresses not being in the condition we purchased them in and asking for our money back the auctioneer and owner Gene Daniels stated that he wasnt going to refund our money.However, they found us new mattresses and allowed us to pick out any mirror we wanted from their inventory. Thank you for righting the wrong!
