He told me what ever it is write on paper and that’s it and turned his back . This guy should know how to talk to customers . He is getting paid for his work and not doing things for free . Stopped in for an inspection...had never been there before. The man behind the counter met my good morning with a deadpan..I dont care why you are here... look on his face. I asked if they had time for an inspection; without even looking at me he said $35 bucks...cash. When I said I didnt have any cash (and I apologized for not having cash) he turned his back to me and went about his business. Too bad, they are very close to my home and would have been a convenient place to bring my cars for service. Thatll never happen.

I do not have any specific preference for the car inspection shop. When I found this garage near to Chelmsford downtown, I thought to give a try. In the first impression, the owner was not coordinating well and behaving like he is doing a favor on me. When he was doing the car inspection, I was trying to sneak in and watching how is he doing. Most of the time he was looking at me, what am I doing. After over an hr inspection, he gave me an investigation FAILED sticker and told me to break the clipper guide pin is stuck. As it is unsafe and could affect breaking, I cannot pass. I asked him; next, he told me you better make an appointment and drop your car here. If your breaks are not working well, then it could cost up to 400$, and if only has to replace the clipper guide pin, it could cost 100$. Another day I took an appointment and parked the car in his parking lot. He called me after 4 hrs and told me he fixed the car. I found my car at the same location but with the inspection passed sticker. I paid 100$ and was happy for the business. To be the truth, I found no difference in breaking.The caliper guide pins are two round metal pins on each brake caliper where the brake piston assembly sits. Theyre called guide pins because theyre responsible for guiding the proper angle for how the brake pad meets the rotor. After reading this, I assume I might not feel the difference, but it could be fixed, and there was no reason to doubt.After a month, I went to the Toyota service center, interestingly they told me the same thing but gave the option to replace it or not. I read more about the pin and saw a youtube video and planned to fix it by myself. I bought new pins (just in case if I have to replace the pins). Autozone employees explained very well. It cost me < 20$.After opening brake pads, I found out the pin was tight and was not moving at all. With the help of a hammer and lubricant, I was able to get it off in an hr or so. It was a difficult task for me as I am not professional and my first time. With good clean up, I replaced both pins with the new one even it was not required and finished the job in 2 hours total with necessary tools.After this experience, I would not recommend anyone to visit this store ever.Is this mechanic good? : Yes, he is. He found a problem for sure.Did he fix the issue?: NOPE, he didnt.Is he trustworthy? : Not at all.

Rudys is a great local resource. The service is friendly and personal and they are very competent. This is old school in the best possible way.

Beware of this mechanic! He inflates the cost of parts/labor and when you tell him you cant afford to have it fixed at this time he slams you with a surprise $99 diagnostic fee before he will return the car. That to me is extortion.
