We rented a tow auger to dig four deck footings and it was awful. When we first turned it on it seized up as soon as it hit top soil. We had to adjust the throttle linkage just to get it to dig through that. After the top soil, it was basically useless. The tooth came off of the bit constantly, so with every attempt to use it we would have to search through the dirt to find the tooth. We were able to dig maybe 12in down with the auger in two of the holes before we had to give up and dig the rest of it by hand.When we returned the auger, they asked how it went. We explained that it didn’t work at all and we were only able to use it for 2 out of 4 of the holes we needed and explained all the problems we had with it. They said sorry that happened and sent us on our way. Last year we rented a two person auger from them and we chose the tow one this time expecting it to be a more powerful option. As I said, we were only able to get half the holes dug and only were able to use the auger to dig a foot down in those two holes.This was a huge waste of money. $120 for rental for one day to only be used for two total feet of digging. This was also a huge waste of time for us. We were expecting to get the four holes dug and footings set in a day, but thanks to the time wasted fixing the throttle and all the problems we got two done..

My husband has rented from them before had no problem with the equipment he went up there twice last week and told him that the power washer wasnt running properly and they told him that it is working fine. Well here we go again today got the power washer and it runs and then shuts off when you turn on the burner for a little while. He has let it sit for 20 minutes and now it wont even start up. But this time we have video to prove the issue.

Great experience with Central Virginia Rental. They have a very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful staff, reasonable prices, and well-maintained equipment. I rented a pressure washer that performed very well. Good deal on propane tank refills too.

Have used Cville rental several times now. No issues getting hold of them on the phone, and they had what I needed in stock and ready to go. The equipment itself was clean and in good working condition and the guys are very helpful in explaining how to operate the equipment and offer tips or suggestions for tackling that DIY project. I found the rates to be comparable, if not cheaper than other rental places, and significantly cheaper than purchasing equipment for a project. Money well spent!
