Great place for anything and everything. The variety of equipment and amenities is enough for every taste and whim! Only wish the 24 hours extended to the weekends mostly because that’s when I have more free time to work out. On the weekdays I work so unfortunately I usually have to come after work (

I was a member here for the past year (the only reason I left was to join a gym with childcare). This is the best deal in town for a gym. It is always very clean (seriously--I watch them cleaning underneath the treadmills!!). I always have a very positive experience with the staff. The machines are spread out, so it feels safe. If you are looking for a basic gym with cardio and weights equipment, this is definitely the best deal you will find!

Clean. Some of the equipment needs repair. Need to add more machines for some exercises. Have to wait many times for some popular machines as people get on them for extended periods while they check their phones.

This is a nice place to workout. Staff were friendly. Members seemed cool. Lots of equipment that appeared to be in excellent condition and well maintained.In general the place was pretty clean, but on this late night visit the mens locker room could have used a little picking up.

Good place to work out but the customer service is not that great. Seems like high turnover, employees don’t know how to effectively perform basic customer service. A simple task as purchasing a bottle of water becomes so complicated that you walk away in frustration. Wont accept cash when your card on file has expired etc., have been told on multiple occasions they won’t check you in if you forget your phone. Good place to work out, but please work on on the customer service side.

I canceled my paid membership after one of the employees approached me and asked me to get off a machine. Another customer had approached me in a hostile manner because she said I was taking too long. I had not been on the machine more than five minutes. I happen to be looking for another Song to play on my phone when this irate customer approached me. When I responded to the irate customer in a not so pleasant manner then I was asked to get off the machine so she could use it. Nothing was said to the other customer about her behavior. I pay for my membership just like she paid for hers. That was my last day at planet fitness and I would never rejoin.

Let it never be said that salesmanship doesnt matter. My father and I were ready to buy 2 memberships after taking the tour. Then we were handed off to the manager. The annoyance at being called over read all over her face and that is saying something since we were all wearing masks. Every question was answered in a few words as possible. Ive never felt like someone wanted my business less than she did. We left without memberships.

This is the worst gym I’ve ever been to. If you main focus is cardio then this is the place for you , but if you’re into weightlifting like I am this is definitely not the place to come. It’s extremely crowded in a way I’ve never seen before and all they have is smith machines that people line up to use. Will cancel my membership and not come back.

The front door guy in the morning always remembers my gym buddy and I and greets us with a kind hello, it really contributes to a great start to the morning. The equipment is always clean, the temperature is kept cool. Its no surprise that peak hours are always pretty busy but everyone is pretty considerate

They stopped charging my account from March - June, during the Pandemic and even though I never went back, because we are still dealing with COVID-19 they have been charging me for the past six months! This is wrong on all levels. I haven’t stepped in the door since February 2020. No phone call, no mail notification, nothing Planet Fitness! Is this how they stay in business during a worldwide Pandemic? Are you paying even though you don’t go?

Friendly staff. Everything was ok, but the bathroom had cleaning cloths that were used and left on the sink, and someones clothing was left in the changing room by the showers, which made me think that the room was being occupied, until it was hours later and I realized it was clothing left by accident. The shower pressure is horrible.

I know $10 or $20 membership is not too much. But I am still paying for what they asked for.Staff members bothering a lot, while your working out. That Happened to me more then couple times.Reason bothered: not aloud to use equipments more then 15 minutes, I told by staff.don’t be loud, I told by staff.I can’t use my own bottle water at the gym, I told by staff.I told by staff, I am not aloud to workout with my family members or with my friends together in one Machine. I know that’s crazy I know.Staff members have Attitude and very unprofessional. And thats my experience with planet fitness in 5th st Charlottesville, VA.

NOT a 24/7 hour fitness center, which is what I needed. Was not explained before online purchase either.

Polite staff. Normally not too crowded if your flexible with your workout. Place is clean. Mens locker room has a slight odor. Nothing over powering like Golds

I just canceled my membership, five people standing behind the counter and I had to say excuse me to get some service.

Facility looks nice and is very clean. The only thing that I was disappointed in, being a new member, I went in and gave my information to a lady at the front desk who looked me up, handed me my PF pass and just said “have a nice workout.” Mildly taken back because on the website it said that on your first day someone would show you around. I walked around and found what I was looking for but thought it would have been nice to be shown or given a brief explanation to where everything was.

Good assortment of equipment, never extremely busy when I go either. Staff are friendly and there are plenty of lockers, bathrooms, and shower stalls. You cant beat the price for a place to work out 24 hours a day. The black card is worth it to get the hydro massage chairs too, they feel fantastic!

1 star isnt even what Planet Fitness (Charlottesville, VA) deserves. They hold no responsibility for their lying employees and misinformation. Im out $200 because a staff member encouraged me to sign up for the pay 1 yr. upfront plan, promising a prorated refund should I wish to cancel, and here I am wishing to cancel one month later but turns out the staff member misled me and I wont get one bit of a refund. I visited the store in person, contacted the Regional Director, and called the corporate office trying to explain how misled and taken advantage I was, and the RD hasnt responded to one of my emails and the corporate office stated that because *each location is privately owned* the manager can set whatever regulations they wish and the corporate office has no part in financials. No shock in my disappointment, as Im now seeing that corporate PF has about a 1/5 star rating from 600 reviews.

The gym is clean as can be and all social distancing is being followed. Do yourself a favor and really get well for the new year and check them out!

Great facility in a super convenient location, reasonable accommodations for guests and a welcoming atmosphere. Also, so much equipment! They offer a pretty reasonably priced plan that includes some special training and classes, but I have not personally done that.

Staff is great, others at the gym not so much. Great people watching, especially while you wait 45 minutes for a squat rack while the Gym Shark crew does their 10 move circuit that only includes one move on the rack. Overall, you get what you pay for.

As far as an affordable gym that offers variety and a clean space to workout, this one is great. However, they arent attentive to some of the details - such as making sure that the towel and spray stations are stocked, making sure the soap dispensers are always full, etc. The nice thing is that there are always a few machines available even when the place is really busy.

A great place to become fit. The management is superb and the staff are always looking to help. I hope you enjoy how clean the gym is.

This place is awful! I called that morning and asked a manager if my sister could sign for us for the 15-18 free workout and they said that she could then when we go there the people were completely awful and laughed in our faces because my sister wasn’t my “legal Guardian“ when the guy told me that she just had to be 18 or older!

As a former GM at a local club in the area I feel this is one of the best run and cleanest clubs here. The friendliness of the staff is exceptional. Its refreshing to see the great leadership and employees taking pride in caring for the environment.

Lowest prices Ive found, no contract that you have to pay to get out of if you need to, clean facility, open all day and night, spacious locker rooms, staff is friendly, plenty of equipment so even durning busy times youre not waiting for things to be available, easy to get in and get out quickly, tanning and massage chairs on site. Location near grocery stores and other shops is convenient. Instead of group classes a trainer offers group workouts in select areas of the gym throughout the day, which is nice if you need guidance. It doesnt have EVERY piece of equipment you could ever want, but you can find something to suit your needs 95% of the time. People are chill and not throwing weights around or acting like theyre there to win a metal. Its a good gym.

My favorite PF so far. And I travel throughout all 48 states. Very clean, quiet, customer service was very good. I come at night. As a truck driver, we need exercise too. Besides Paul Blart kept bothering me, it was nice o come to a clean, friendly gym. Thank you

I wish the location was larger and had better amenities. For example, linen vs paper towels and the overcrowding duringbpeak hours.

I really like Planet Fitness. Its a large enough facility that even at 5pm it has enough equipment to avoid waits, and the machines are all brand new. They have nice perks like free pizza and bagels on some days of the month, and the locker rooms are clean and dont smell. Im not so happy about the fact that I had to give them a bank account to enroll, and that there is a hidden $40 annual fee, but that was all told to me up front, and its still cheaper than SnapFitness ($35-40 / month) by a ton.

Great gym clean and well maintained

For the price it really cant be beat. While it is certainly not a serious strength or body training facility, for 90% of self motivated people willing to do heir own training schedule and regime it will have everything they are looking for. A nice range of dumbbells and weight racks, cable pull, a good selection of weight machines and a stupid amount of cardio contraptions. Also good shower facilities and tanning if you are into such things, and all for $10-20 a month depending on the plan.

Love it clean new and up to date. Would love to see a sauna in place of one or two of those tanning rooms as well as two additional hydro massage chairs.

I love this location. I came in one evening because I needed help trying my time and Kellan who is a superstar took time out of his shift to help me and didnt judge or make me feel weird at all. I appriciate the level of service he provided. This is really a judgement free zone pun intended.

Be prepared to get hit with a 39$ yearly membership fee in addition to your monthly fee. You can sign up online but no way to cancel online. Really?!? Yea. Theyre happy to keep taking your money every month until you physically come in to cancel

Its alright, you sorta get what you pay for here. If they allowed barbells and had a rower and some other conventional gym stuff ie: kettlebells, rigs, bench press, etc. then it would easily be a 5/5. For what they do have Ill say its GREAT. Its clean, the staff are friendly. For $11/mo its decent

Love that everything is new. Staff are few, service is lacking, and they have a strange take on fitness (like feeding you pizza and candy....). But they found their niche and it works for them. (Their niche seems to be a gym for the less enthusiastic gym goers who arent that serious about fitness but want to use the treadmill once in a while.)

Great gym and one of the best deals around. Friendly and helpful staff around the clock. The water jet massage table is the truth. Will be keeping this place on my list of stops on my errand runs and post work de stresser.

Probably the best value you can get for a gym. No pool or track, but for 10 bucks, you cant complain. The hydromassage black card members is also amazing and totally worth the 10 dollar upgrade.

Love the 24/7 open hours, the hydromassage & massage chairs are great for black card members and the bonus room with free wifi is great if you need to answer emails before you get back to your work computer. Its clean, bright, friendly staff. I wish there were more mats for stretching and wish they had an inversion table for my back but other than that, its got everything you need. The massage chairs alone make the black card a great deal. Well be using our membership when we travel too another great bonus as there are PF gyms in all the locations well be going to.

Of all the Planet Fitnesses Ive been to, I like this one the best. Ive been to 6 different locations. The staff is super friendly. This gym is extremely clean and its huge. It has the hydro massage for black card members on top of the tanning. Many, many machines are always available. They have a room for stretching and abs and then another section for a full body fitness regimen. I just moved here from NY and visited a few in NJ. Im VERY pleased to switch my home location to this one. Great job, Charlottesville Planet Fitness.

Horrible over crowded and not a gym, made for most who really have no drive to workout, people sit on equipment and text and old people stare at you while you workout. Cant lift heavy cause it will offend someone, cant wear certain clothing cause it will offend, cant drink from a gallon jug cause some how thats intimidating. Snowflakes are us here.

They make it incredibly difficult to manage or cancel your account. If you move you have to cancel in person or via certified letter. This is 2017, and there is no way to manage your account online. They are clearly trying to keep accounts active and make money by making it inconvenient.

Ive been a member of most gyms in the county, and this by far has been the best! The price is amazing, the employees are super nice, and its never over crowded ( at least when Im there)

The cancelation policy is bunk. They said I have to cancel in person or by mail because they need a signature..... But I joined online before they opened and have literally never been in the facility (I moved)..... So there doesnt need to be an in person signature to get started, but there has to be one to get out? That sounds like lies, right? Really its probably just a good business model.... Make it harder to leave than to join so the monthly fees just keep coming out of bank accounts without providing any actual service. Lean on the auto drafts that we never look at and idiots like me pay for over a year without ever walking in.

Its a gym! Pick stuff up and put it down again! Maybe run in place! You can do that here!

Need the equipment washed and sanitized more, but nice place over all

Decent enough gym. Very clean. Enough equipment to get a good workout in. Definitely better than a home gym. However, I was quite disappointed at a certain lack of equipment. For instance, there are no free barbells, other than fixed, pre-loaded small ones that end around 60lbs. So no benches, or squat racks, or dead-lift apparatuses other than smith machines. The dumbells max out at 75lbs. Even some of their cable stacks cut out around 70lbs. Its very limiting to a seasoned lifter, but I guess that fits their no lunk mentality. Overall it gives off a very, beginner-type vibe, which seems like what theyre going for. The price is right, and luckily Im under no contract. So, while I can get a decent workout in, it doesnt quite have what I need to keep me around for long in order to see continued improvements. If youre an advanced or seasoned lifter, youre gonna want to look elsewhere or be prepared to deal with limiting equipment. You could probably run through a cutting or maintenance phase no problem, but if youre looking for strength or mass gain, youre gonna hit a wall quick here. Side note- Ive yet to try out the massage chairs offered with black card membership.

Very clean, friendly staff, and lots of cardio machines. I like the 30 minute circuit room, and there are free personal training classes you can sign up for. The massage chairs are nice, but there is often a wait in the busy hours. 24 hours, so its great when I cant sleep and need a distraction. Free WiFi and lots of tv screens

Cheap as dirt. Super nice staff. Huge. Well maintained. Clean. Tons of cardio equipment n niche gadgetry... However. If you mostly cleave to basic weight lifting regimen (squats, deadlifts, presses, rows...) You might be let down a wee bit- no dumbells ovee 75#. No free weight bars for plates - the handfull of free weifht bars available are attached to those lateral strats which control the range of movement- limiting it to 2 dimensions... Hate to be nitpicky.... all the garish purple kitschy slogans splashed all over the place (no gymtimidation!!) Kinda makemy stomach turn.... not to mention the lunk alarm whatever that is.... it seems setup mote for weight loss and cardio than lifting - and thats fine - at 10$ a month its hard to beat, acess is super easy and again- the peeps are nothing but sincerely nice and helpful. Just wish there were more strength ttaining options and free weights. All in all- worth it.
