I have nothing but amazing things to say about my experience with By Word of Mouth!! My check engine light came on two days before I was set to leave on a long road trip, and By Word of Mouth squeezed me in at the end of their day without an appointment when no other shop could take me. Not only were Mo and the other mechanics extremely kind and accommodating with helping me figure out the issue, but they also went the extra mile of fixing it up before sending me on my way. By Word of Mouth will be the first call that I make if I ever have issues in the future, and it will be the only place I take my car for diagnostics and repairs. I highly recommend their services!!

So glad I finally found a repair shop that was fast , professional and fair in pricing. 🥳 My car was rejected when I got it inspected at a area car dealer. Arrived in the city from out of state moving my daughter to Charlottesville with an A/C problem, I only had 3 days in Charlottesville. Even though they were booked solid, they offered to try and fit me in if I could leave the car with them. A/C was fixed as promised. Mo was very helpful and understanding of my situation. Very happy to have a reliable repair shop should we have any issues in the future.

Fantastic work. For years Ive known about BWOMA, but I had my regular shop close to my house. Ive since moved and my shop just closed for good. So today was my first appointment here, and they did not disappoint. Reasonable prices, friendly quick service, and a genuine effort to find a solution that works for the customer. Made an hour trip to take my cat to the vet specialists in Charlottesville and on our way, the driver side window just dropped down into the door. Covered the cat with a blanket and continued on across Afton mountain during a high wind warning. Dropped poor kitty at vet and googled nearby car repair and this name came up. Explained my situation to Matthew who was fantastic. He searched for a part for my 91 Chrysler but couldnt get one right away. So he fixed the window so it would stay up for our trip home. So professional, helpful, understanding. They really saved me today.

Great place can fix almost anything

The wire cable to my battery went bad and the guys at By Word of Mouth fixed it within 35 minutes. I left my mask in the car and they offered me a mask rather than going back to get the mask. I have been coming to this shop for several years and I am very happy with the service.

Ive been taking my car here ever since they opened and have always received excellent and honest service for a fair price. At this point I would not take my car anywhere else for service. Because they do such great work theyre extremely busy and it can take a while to get an appointment but its well worth it.

It took me a while to find someone I could trust with my VW other than the dealership who charges a premium. By Word of Mouth did some serious work on my Eos and only charged a third of the price. I had another issue months later and brought my car back in, Matt and his team were thorough and provided excellent customer service. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone - they are honest and do a quality job!

DON’T BRING YOUR CAR ANYWHERE ELSE!!! I heard about Matt from a family member when i was looking for a place to fix my 1997 Subaru that i recently purchased off craigslist in super rough condition. Matt was very attentive, knowledgeable and made me feel respected and taken care of. He looked at my car FOR FREE and told me straight up what i needed to get done in order to make it driveable. I was working with a limited budget and he totally understood that and worked with me. I cannot say enough good things about this place. There’s a reason they have only 5 star reviews!!!! These days its rare to find respect and commitment in an auto repair shop.

They were helpful at first and helped me with one of my issues. However, they wanted to charge me $1300 for repairs that another shop charged me $820 for. I talked to someone named CJ on the phone and he was kind of rude and sarcastic towards me when I expressed my surprise over the price he gave me.

Love to drop car off and pick up later ..excellent service..best mechanic in town...

These guys are awsome. I went in for a state inspection, never had to do that in my previous state, with no appointment. They worked me in and explained everything that was on the list without talking down to me because Im a woman.

Just concluded my first visit to ByWordOfMouthAuto and was amazed by the outstanding customer treatment. I knew they were going to be very busy based on a call from earlier in the week, but CJ invited me to stop by to have diagnostic codes read/reset. When I arrived CJ and Matthew immediately began taking information and assessing the problem. I was expecting maybe 10 minutes of assessment then set up an appointment for next week, but Matthew proceeded from diagnosis to resolution, which took about an hour of unscheduled service on the day before a holiday. Awesome. I have finally found a home for auto service.
