Great customer service. I really like their selection of books from fiction to reference. Nine times out of ten you will find what you need from the main library or anyone of their branches.

Space is amazing after the renovation. It’s downtown and walking distance to so many great restaurants, many offices, etc. There are 2-3 huge floors of books, a large section of tables and computers for working, and an upper floor of historical artifacts detailing the history of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. Top class library, so if not for reading or for working in a quiet space, head upstairs to the museum-like section!

Probably one of the better libraries Ive been to, spacious with plenty of quiet spaces to read and/or study. Great selection of books and the Wi-Fi is decent. Three floors..with a section dedicated to helping folks with job searching.

I think this is a great place. They have so many branches, every book you could want to read. The music section is pretty impressive. Artists that I wouldn’t think they would carry from jazz to all types of new age. But, if your looking for a place to get away from the noise , then one of the library’s are perfect .

Its sad that so many are here judging the homeless. Darn shame and you really should feel sick to yourself. You dont have to brave the elements nor do you have to search and pick for your food. Some of those homeless persons are veterans who have no homes possibly due to mental ailments they have suffered on the behalf of others to speak so freely and condescendingly of them. You have tons of brilliantly dressed people who pass them by, restaurants who toss good food out daily, and celebrities who live right there doing nothing at all. Do something to help or go to where there are none. They are people too.

I love this library. Its Centrally located. Yes there is a lot homeless people that hang here. Some can be a little rowdy but nothing to talk about. They do eat in there which they shouldnt do. However, overall it is an Amazing and beautiful library. They have a great job search location on the first floor. When I first came here I spent many hours in there looking for work using their computer. I found one of my two jobs using their resources. Is it perfect. No where is. Im from New York City and the homeless are more respectful and well behaved in the librarys there. Come and check out the place. Its clean and awesome.

The library is nice but it is a hangout for homeless people. I have traveled extensively and this is the only city that allows homeless people to post up inside a library. They play loud music and bring their food inside to eat like a picnic. I understand it’s a public library but some homeless people are dangerous and not very clean. I wouldn’t dare bring my children here. There’s a stench in the computer room area and the seats are disgusting. The bathroom is also disgusting. There are many resources for homeless people in Charlotte but many places (like this library) continue enabling them. Overall, I give it zero stars.

The relocation of the research computers to a quieter area in the library would be greatly appreciated. The library is beautiful, spacious, and a quiet place most of the time. The staff and law enforcement officers are professional and courteous. However, I would not bring children to this library under any circumstances. The patrons excessive use of profanity is unacceptable. The disruption occurs when patrons argue with one another or the law enforcement officers addressing or correcting inappropriate behavior.

I love the library and I LOVE books! Since I work downtown, I usually place my books on hold here. The Ideabox is so cool, I highly recommend that people use that space. I am sad that it will be closed for a while for renovations and hope that the library is back in operation soon. Also, to those commenting about the homeless I am glad that they have the library as a space. Why not have the homeless uptown and around resources. They do not bother me at all and I would much rather them be around a center for knowledge.

Basically i hangout for homeless i felt really unsettling i came to do a few assessments for school and every outlet was taken even ones that looks like they not pose to be at. Cameras IN the bathroom. I understand some ppl have no where else to go but there deff should be a time limit in a certain spot.

This is just a meeting spot for all the homeless. Im going to sound insensitive, but I need to say this. Its unfair to arrive to this library on Sunday, when all other libraries are closed, to do school work and everyone is hogging all of the power outlets. Ive seen people using three outlets to charge their devices. Some of us come to the library to be productive, not be on Facebook the entire time. The bathrooms are DEPLORABLE!!! FILTHY!! The stalls offer no privacy so you inadvertently see whoever is in the stall doing their business. This library obviously needs designated areas for laptop use only.

This library does many things well..It begins with a fantastic interior layout and a modern/urban/southern exterior design...The interior presents a solid organization of books and media.Theyve created an entire section of the library dedicated to local employment information and job search activity. There is a cafe-style reading lounge that allows patrons to enjoy a light snack or drink. The museum-style portion of the top floor celebrates both Charlotte and North Carolinas strong regional history..The vast majority of the staff are professional and attentive to each visitors needs..But....The common area cleanliness and overall accessibility needs a little work..While any Public Library should NEVER exclude members of the community, - there is a need to maintain a positive sanitary environment ..Similar to a major medical center, a large public library should consider whether the environment contributes to spread of illness and disease..A whole lot of people walk in and out of this place on a daily basis..All at varying degrees of health and wellness..So how do they make it better? For starters, all horizontal surfaces should be cleaned with a medical grade high level disinfectan - Not just store bought lysol..High use devices such as keyboards, computer mouse, and patron seating should be wiped down with a hospital grade high level disinfectant at least twice per shift..Hand cleaning/sanitizer stations should be placed in high use areas (elevators, computer areas etc)Restrooms should be cleaned thoroughly throughout each shift.Thet should use medical grade disinfectants with special attention to all high use areas..Restrooms should be deep cleaned at the end of each shift and as emergencies arise..Accepted air fresheners should be used along with cleaning accountability rosters and posted handwash literature to promote a healthy environment..Last but not least - periodic feedback and surveys should be taken to generate ideas and help assess the current sanitary conditions..Overall, this is a great facility with great staff..ALL PATRONS should have an expectation of cleanliness when visiting this wonderful library.

People are going to use theur media devices in a library. Why else would the library have newspapers, magazines, DVD, COMPUTERS? As far as the noise level, well I guess people are going to forget where they are from time to time, but in my experience the noise is almost non-existance. Pull this place is huge, I love this place!!!

Well kinda sucks that at a public library there is no on-site parking and the closest is at least 5 blocks away and is max 2-hr metered. Also, the inside is just basically a meeting spot for the homeless.
