Its so amazing!!! Ive been training at UpLevel Martial Arts for about 8/9 months and Ive learned how to be stronger and braver!!

Its so much more than a karate school. By using martial arts as a vehicle to teach kids and adults important life skills, like confidence and integrity, they really do help train leaders for life. If you are skeptical, then PLEASE give them a call and schedule a private lesson and try them out for 30 days. They will prove their worth in that time.

Best karate studio in Charlotte! My son absolutely loves his classes every week and he always learns so much. All the instructors are positive, friendly, and know all the students by name. They not only teach karate but also teach students to have a positive attitudes and to be leaders in the community. They give special awards for random acts of kindness, citizenship, and for bringing in good grades. Mr. Dyson has really helped my son, come out of his shell and his confidence has increased with every week he has participated in class. I would recommend Super Kicks to anyone looking for a great karate studio!

The program has been structured well. There is a good blend of formal and informal learning. The instructors have the passion for imparting training and knowledge. The goals are not only set for class but also for becoming a leader in life.

This is a great school! I loving going with my entire family. Its a great place for us to be together and learn. Since I started I have watched all of the students grow and mature gaining not only in martial art skills but also confidence in other activities.

We absolutely LOVE UpLevel! We attend the Ballantyne location and couldnt be happier that we joined. Every member of the staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and they are great role models for both kids and adults! The focus isnt just to teach martial arts, they also work on self discipline, respect, confidence, and to be a leader in life!

All of the instructors are very friendly and knowledgeable. They help to make the students and parents welcome, at ease and part of the karate family.My husband and our kids aged 5 and 2.5 take classes at this school in different levels and love it. I love that it has taught my kids discipline, drive and focus in addition to karate.

My 6 year old twins took the free class to see if they would like it. We went to the new location on Baybrook Lane. The facility is very nice and Mrs. Dyson is awesome!! She is an excellent teacher, and is very patient and great with kids. My twins loved it! I would highly recommend UpLevel Martial Arts!!

I went to uplevel briefly when it was still super kicks. The instructors were really nice, but the style of teaching was not the best for me. They just do the same thing over and over again if you are in the basic program, so you have to pay to go to the real karate part. Besides that, the place was great. I stopped for this reason though. they basically make it so we cannot really do that much without the leadership program.

Our son has been attending for a few years now and we are thrilled with his progress. It takes persistence but the little guys do embrace it and love the instructors! (As do we).

We love Mr and Mrs Dyson and the other instructors have been great as well! My children have come to love martial arts through this program and it has helped to make them more displaced and confident in other aspects if their life outside of class.

Awesome instructors, great atmosphere! Its so much more than karate. One needs to experience it to understand that it imparts valuable life lessons on so many levels.

Súper Kicks is ExcellentMy 6 year daughter go to this super kicks and she love it. The instructor Dyson explains and teaches techniques thoroughly. We like the family events, fun activities/events for different. Great place to learn Karate.

Horrible experience. Total money grab. Must pay every time you move up a belt. Misrepresented cost on front end. Will not communicate with you face to face about a refund. Miles and Abigail are pure scam artist. In it to take your$$ and not for the kids. Beware. Failed to pay utilities at McAlpine location and classes held outside in freezing cold. Will have to sue them to have any hope of being treated fairly. Filing a complaint with the Attorney General to protect future victims of Miles and Abigail. Bad people

The leadership at UpLevel is fantastic. Their enthusiasm is what keeps my two boys and I looking forward to coming to classes each week. Classes are always organized and run smoothly.

I have watched my 2 grandchildren during their sessions and we LOVE it!! Such a positive, encouraging environment. The instructors are super friendly & knowledgeable!!

Mr. Wegert is a fantastic instructor. He is very enthusiastic and helpful. There are several programs available to meet your needs and skill level; everything from first timers to people like me that have a black belt in another form of martial arts. The classes are family friendly with kids starting from the age of 3 all the way up to adults in the 50s.

My 8 year old son go to this super kicks and we love it because Mr and Mrs.Dyson explains and demonstrates techniques thoroughly. And they take time to get to know each and every student and engage , motivate them very well. I love the way they give away the extra stripes and stars for being a 100% success or winning awards in school. And the best part that I enjoy more is Graduations are fun :-). There also many family fun together events like halloo-ween parties, Kids lunches and movies etc., Great place for families to be.

Been training sith Mr Dyson and Mr Py for about 8 months. The beautiful connection they build with there students in really inspiring. Friendly and genuine in every way. After training here for a while I was offered a position teaching and marketing and they are upstanding people who run a solid business.

I couldnt be more grateful with all the UPLevel team for the way they have impacted not only my daughters life, but also our familys. Ive witnessed their growth as a result of their passion and dedication to what they do everyday in every single task. My family and I had been looking for a Karate school but could never seem to get involved with one. I met Master Mun from SuperKicks Karate in Ballantyne and decided to give it a try. My family and I absolutely love it. I asked my children if they like SuperKicks or the previous school that we visited, they tell me that they want to go to SuperKicks because they like Master Mun, Mr. Dyson, and Mr. Wegert. The environment is awesome and my family is excited to be a part of every lesson. It is amazing how it has been a tool to bond my family over a common practice (martial arts).

UpLevel Ballantyne is AMAZING! UpLevel is not just a karate school, it is a family. I take classes with my 2 kids and we couldnt be happier. The entire staff is friendly and loving to every child and parent that walks in the door. I love how parents are involved in every class. UpLevel instills confidence and discipline not only while in class, but also in school and home; they celebrate academic and citizenship accomplishments. My son began his martial arts journey with UpLevel Ballantyne in Sepetember of 2016. He has gone from a shy, not so confident kid to an upstanding role model for his peers. I owe it all to the amazing instructors and staff at UpLevel. UpLevel doesnt just focus on instilling martial arts training in a child, but they really encompass their entire life (school, home, behavior) in their lessons. They celebrate ALL accomplishments the child has - in and out - of The UpLevel studio. UpLevel is family oriented which includes parents involvement and hosts many family functions to attend. We love Uplevel Martial Arts.I was looking to get my son in karate and stumbled upon this school. I had only meant for my son to take karate but eventually I joined too. I love the atmosphere and energy here. We have learned a lot and are looking forward to learning a whole lot more.

We enrolled our son here when it was still SuperKicks. We paid for the program in full up front, and ended up losing out on a portion of that due to a voluntary departure from the program.The original idea was for our son to learn some discipline and respect through a fun fitness activity. Our original contract with SuperKicks promised advancement through the green belt, after that happened we agreed we would decide whether to continue his enrollment.We were happy with the program at first, as our son seemed to enjoy attending and learning basic karate moves. The instructors were engaging and clearly enjoyed what they were doing. Sometimes (especially on the weekends) the classroom was jam packed and we felt like it was a mass-production facility. The level of attention our son received during the sessions was minimal, even when it was clear he and others were struggling with the moves.His progression seemed to be quite rapid, however; the off-site mass belting sessions for his yellow and orange belts felt cursory and pointless. There was no real testing taking place for the dozens of students who were participating en masse. In addition, large portions of these sessions were devoted to the instructors own belting ceremonies and demonstrations. We overlooked this, though as he was only a kindergartner at the time, and assumed it was normal for the lower levels.Several months into our tenure, SuperKicks became UpLevel and things changed a bit. Despite our original agreement, green belt was no longer considered the top of the basic non-leadership program, it was shifted to orange (one level down). We were left in the lurch on that one.As other reviews have suggested, if you elect to NOT be part of the leadership program the level of education and participation falls off dramatically. Despite being very quickly moved up to the orange belt level, our son was left behind, and even sat out during some of the sessions because he was not part of this leadership program. We felt that this was unfair and a waste of our time, not to mention completely exclusionary. We elected to go for a few sessions at the Waxhaw location, only to discover the same mentality.It was disheartening to discover that the only way our son could advance was to continue pumping exorbitant amounts of money into the program so he could be part of what we felt was an ineffective training. Our son was rushed through white/yellow/orange, and then we were told he could not go further without paying (i.e. buying) into the leadership program.Overall, we felt taken for our money just to buy a few belts and a uniform.

I have to first start off by saying that my children and I loved Uplevel (previously Superkicks) for over a year or more but then things changed. I am leaving this review because I want EVERY parent that sees this to make sure that you think long and hard before signing a THREE (3) year contract into the ‘Leadership’ Program. This normally happens after your child earns their orange belt.In 3 years, your child can, and most likely will, change interests, especially if they start around elementary age. We really trusted and respected Mr. Dyson at first but slowly realized how he was more or less a shyster. He is extremely disingenuous and I am witness to him talking to a staff member about taking advantage of another parent because she signed a form without choosing how much she was spending. He constantly starts class more than 5 minutes late. They have also begun playing videos at the end of class to teach the children life skills but this ends up taking away 10 minutes from actual karate instruction. I am also witness to the way that 3+ Uplevel schools in our immediate area run their schools and how their children perform universals and skills at graduation. Of all places, the Ballantyne Uplevel is extremely lacking in organization and actual quality instruction. Those schools are also very active on social media, emails and the like to make sure that you, as a parent, are in the mix and current. Ballantyne and Mr. Dyson are NOT as organized.I was actually approached to be an instructor at Uplevel last year. I was offered a position but the hourly wage was so ridiculously low and you had work unrealistic hours, not to mention you had to peddle on foot to try and recruit new students who would most likely be duped into signing a useless contract. Not to mention that I was convinced to join the CIT (certified instruction training) program which cost us an additional $25 a month, (IN A CONTRACT!) which was at first enjoyable but after a while, it became a chore.Every 2-3 months you are basically forced to pay $60 for your child to move up a belt. If they dont move up with the same kids they have been with, they end up feeling left behind. Not to mention that the blackbelt graduations are SO painful to sit through for 2 hours plus.I will also mention that once your child moves to orange belt and into intermediate class, you will be pushed and your child will be more or less be shamed into buying a $500 gear bag. On sparring days, if your child does not have sparring gear, they are forced to sit out and watch the rest of the class spar. Its pretty humiliating.The biggest takeaway is that I want you to get from this review is that Uplevel is going to push a 3 (THREE!) year contract on you for your child to earn his black belt. This is NOT necessary. You can join so many schools in the area and your children will get quality instruction IF (IF!) karate ends up being their passion.

Great place for my kids to learn about martial arts, citizenship and core values.

My family stumbled onto Superkicks by accident and while I usually try to avoid being pulled into new programs given how busy we are, Im so glad my daughter decided to give this a try. The instructors at Superkicks are warm and dedicated. We have used the academys messages of leadership, confidence and respect to reinforce lessons taught at home. Through Superkicks, we are teaching my daughter that while some things dont come easy, overcoming obstacles to achieve a goal is a powerful and fulfilling thing. And the self-defense skills dont hurt either :)

My family has been students of SuperKicks Family Academy since its inception in the Ballantyne area, and we could not be happier. My 6 year old and 9 year old have learned martial arts in a safe, family oriented atmosphere. The confidence levels for both of my children have skyrocketed since we have been with SuperKicks, and I cant wait to see how far the skills they have learned will take them.
